The best all butter croissant heavenly creation in life
    Bailey B.

Be so careful at this place I took one bite of the most amazing regular croissant I've ever had (now mind you, I've been to France) and OH MY GOSH. The receptors in my brain started screaming for joy. Then I had the sweet muffin-esque croissant creation and- *review can no longer continue as author has left and gone to heaven. Try this bakery at your own risk, lest ye be transported to heaven as well

I used to see this place in Dane county farmers market. So decided to go to their brick and mortar store. The place is small. They also have a cafe next door. Morning glory muffin was my favorite item here. Morning bun was good as always. Almond croissant was the third item. It was good as well.

Visited Far Breton Bakery for the first time for an early morning snack. I don't normally commute to the east side, but was especially excited to check it out. The bakery is a cute, small, and homey space that's next to a sit in cafe / diner. I got the chocolate pain and a spiced sugar apple pastry. Both tasted good and priced at $5 a piece. The chocolate pain tasted surprisingly savory (due to being a bit salty). The staff were friendly and polite. Overall, would return!

Chocolate chocolate croissant and cardamom bun

Really really good breakfast pastries. Not many dessert pastries but I loved the chocolate croissant with chocolate dough. It was a little savory which was wonderful for me. The cardamom bun was really good too. Not much space for seating at all more of a hole in the wall pastry counter. Good service.

I can't believe Far Breton has been open for a year and I am just discovering it now. I had a pastry from them for the first time last weekend and am now hooked. Hands down - best bakery in Madison.

Sunday Morning food cart and the owner. Schedule is 8:30 am until she sells out, or 12:30 pm. whichever comes first.

Far Breton Bakery has the most mouth watering pastries in Madison yet!! We are so lucky to have this talented baker in Madison. Today we purchased all the items pictured. It's so tempting to eat some on the way home, when better though enjoyed with coffee. The morning buns are 4/$10, and hold up very well in the freezer well if you want to treat yourself once a week with one batch. This Sunday morning pick up is one of three ways to get the goodies. Schedule is 8:30 am every Sunday until she sells out or 12:30 pm, whichever comes sooner. Market Pantry also does delivery, on Thursdays. The pastries are baked same day. Her website also has a way to order for pick-up on Fridays. It would be a treat to come here anytime, but it's always extra special to bring visitors in town here. I've brought folks from Chicago sand Berkeley to visit and both agreed these baked goods rival their favorite local pastry havens.

    The hours of operation.

We were looking for this place because living in Eau Claire we do not have access to Far Breton on a regular basis. We know they make good quality baked items. Happen to be in town so could not pass up the opportunity.

I've been there twice, both time the bread was "break your tooth" ready, and was refered to as a baguette! Im done,

Small bakery with delicious pastries. Limited hours, but worth the trip. Loved everything we tried and will return often!

Tried croissants and they were dense, doughy and under cooked. The pain au chocolaté a bit better, but very surprised at the poor quality.

This stylish bakery and cafe is a great place for lunch or dinner…read more I had the golden beet Reuben with sauerkraut on their caraway rye bread, which was absolutely delicious! This is a great vegetarian sandwich - I'm not sure if it can be made vegan. The kid's turkey sandwich is really nice and comes on a freshly baked roll with a generous side of fresh fruit-it doesn't come with mayo or another spread, so you might want to ask for. The bread was delicious and I was sad, but not surprised, there were almost no loaves left for purchase. The only negative was the greens served with the sandwich. The mixed greens were fresh, but had almost no dressing or any other veggies or toppings included.

Date of visit: January 25, 2026…read more This was highly-rated by fellow Yelpers and a quick two-block drive from our hotel, so we were anxious to see what Madison Sourdough had to offer. Staff were very friendly, especially Onah R at the register. And the treats that we took home were fantastic: - Chocolate Chip Cookie. Slight crunch on the rim and then soft on the inside. - Molasses Cookie. The same as chocolate chip, but even better with a thick chewy center that I didn't want to end. Kouign Amman - Not as good as what we had in Paris, but a solid entry! Unfortunately, breakfast was not their strong suit. My Croque Madame was dry, and the bread was just too thick to enjoy as a sandwich, I had to open it up to be able to eat it. My husband went with the biscuit sandwich and that too was dry from what I had as I helped him finish it. On the plus side the Banana Caramel Latte was a winner. Would definitely come back for the treats, just not breakfast!
