    Grilled Shrimp Quesadilla

Bar/Pub establishment with lots of seating away from the bar crowd. Seating is kind of tight in some areas but there are areas to get some private time. The night we were visiting, it was pretty busy and the service was a little slow but not real bad. Server was super friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu. Any special requests were fulfilled without question or judgement. The food was pretty good: -Fried pickles were your average sliced variety -My grilled shrimp quesadillas was really good with good amount of shrimp. The smash burgers the others had were very good. I heard lots of great comments. The only downfall of the food was the French fries. They were not super hot and they come out in small pieces. Ours seemed like maybe it was the end of the bag but as we looked around and asked the server all of their fries are like that. We did not like the fries. Pictures attached.

I gravitate towards cleverly worded business names, so the Crafty Rooster in downtown Conway fit the bill perfectly for a quick lunch while on a day trip from Myrtle Beach. The place was buzzing on a Saturday afternoon with barely any open tables. This eatery exudes major college bar vibes, as evidenced by all the Coastal Carolina University decor (the college mascot is the chanticleer; a proud and fierce rooster as per the university website). The interiors were nicely done up for Halloween, complete with a selection of seasonal drinks. We got the mozzarella wedges, crafty southern chicken sandwich, pimento popper dip, and Chanticleer shrimp. The mozzarella wedges were uniquely triangle shaped, but neither the breading, nor the marinara sauce had much of a flavor. The crafty southern chicken sandwich suffered from the same issue; while fresh and presented well, the breading lacked any sort of spice or flavor. The Chanticlleer shrimp was nicely portioned in a an above average sauce with a bit of southern flair. The pimento popper dip is where things took a turn for the worse, as the kitchen messed up this appetizer that was supposed to be vegetarian, and put chicken in it. The waitress initially said there shouldn't be meat in it, but after some back & forth between her and the kitchen, they owned up to the fact that they made a mistake and inadvertently put chicken in the dip. While the waitress was apologetic about it, it did put a sour note in our meal considering we had a vegetarian diner. The food, while budget friendly, was a small notch above average and was otherwise lacking in true southern flavors. I can't recommend them for vegetarian diners due to the lack of quality control in the kitchen and mix up for our meal, but I can see how the place can be appealing for cost conscious college folks looking to catch a game on one of their many televisions who don't mind mediocre tasting bar food. While it's unlikely that I'd ever return to the Crafty Rooster, I definitely recommend a trip to the charming town of Conway as a side trip from Myrtle Beach.

The food is always great....Especially the wings and burgers. Several different varieties of both. I usually get the boneless chicken wings with Sweet Chili Sauce. Amazing! They also have several kinds of beer. I don't drink beer but I see a lot of people order different crafts. Bingo night is a blast too!! Won several times. Cool dive bar/restaurant.

Really great appetizers and a strong beer list. Definitely come on Tuesdays for trivia!

Seth I have eaten there a number of times, mostly lunch. I have never had an issue with unclean plates or utensils or glasses.

TLDR: 2nd visit after 9 months, still same poor service and timing. Not worth your time or money…read moreunless you have nothing to do later in the day, and at that better off going to somewhere like Chili's. Visited last in late March of 2025 and had very poor service. It was not busy, with maybe 6-8 other patron groups on arrival. Our server took a good few minutes to even come over to our table. Food timing took FOREVER, I am talking well over 35 minutes for our appetizer order and then another 20-30 minutes to get our main courses, while other tables seated after us got appetizers and main courses before us. And then when this review was written, December 28th 2025, we came back hoping it's improved, but service still slow. It was maybe twice as packed from my last visit but it still took 15 minutes before our server came, and another 20-25 minutes for our appetizer to come in while a later seated table got 2 appetizers long before us, and wasn't checked in on to order main course until moments before the appetizer came out. The main course then took another 35+ minutes, with no regular updates on status in kitchen. And the server kept going to every single table around us that came after us instead of even taking our order so we sat there with menus for 30 minutes. Table nearby us was even complaining about the service and food quality to the supervisor. While the food was still okay, not worth the "long wait times" in kitchen and server quality is not the best. If the servers were a little more regular with checking on your table, kitchen timing a little more faster would be better but I can only give this place at most 2/5 stars on a good day. Will not ever be coming to this location again lol.

Went here for the 1st time at this location on Saturday December 27th 2025 with my parents for a…read moremuch needed dinner. Applebees is a chain restaurant that serves burgers, salads, some fish, and other items that a chain usually has, like ribs. They can also be known for their drinks as well. Anyways, we walked in, and there was an 30 Minute wait, they said the Kitchen was backed up, okay- so we said no, but spent maybe that same time or less in the car. So we get out of the car and changed our minds and decided to wait. We also went to the bar, and was called when our table was ready. At the bar, we decided on drinks while we waited, and my mom had the tipsy reindeer drink. I had a Blue Mana Drink. Bartender did his job and checked ID. We also ordered nachos, and BBQ boneless wings as an appetizer. Before you know it, our table was ready. Oh, and both in the bar, and in the restaurant, it felt a little chilly. anyways, so we moved to the table in the restaurant and was somewhat seated near the door. Not sure if it helped the cold situation. Anyways, our server was very pleasant and had lots of southern hospitality. Although it took her longish to greet us- but can understand because when it's busy, it can be a rush to get there. With the server we ordered 3 waters, and my dad ordered another drink, and the waitress recommended the sleigh all day margarita. Also because our waitress took a little long to greet us-- it did give us time to look over the menu and decide what we wanted to order. After finally getting our waters and my dad's drink. For entrees My mom and I did the 2 for $25 deal which was on the back of the menu, one can get 2 entrees and an appetizer- I got the Oriental Chicken Salad, and my mom got the same thing, and we got the Fried Mosseralla Appetizer. My dad ordered a Whisky Jam Burger, which sounded like Fridays old burger. Finally the appetizers came out- the nachos and boneless wings. The nachos were enjoyable, and came with guacomole on top! (My mom and i liked that, my dad not so much). The wings sauce was good, but it tasted like it spent too much time under a hot lamp and was dried out. Fried Mossarella was good too! Finally the entrees came out, and i enjoyed my salad, as did my mom. My dad also enjoyed his burger. As it got less busy, our waitress checked on us more often. Oh, although we ran into an issue that the ketchup was empty at our table, and my dad was searching the restaurant for a ketchup, and unfortunately they only had ketchup packets, in which the bartender apologized for- but the waitress seemed rude about it. she said to my dad "excuse me?" Now he used the packets, but no need to be rude about it. Anyways, I enjoyed my salad, as well as my mom. We also asked for boxes as we didn't finish all of our salad. We paid the check via a gift card and left a cash tip. We enjoyed our food, and would probably be back! Although a little bit of slow service for some reason, but maybe next time there will be better service!
