What kept me loyal to that store wasnt their prices . It was the friendliness and helpfulness which should be a standard work ethic for customer service people. As soon as a floor person saw you there they asked if they could be of help after they said Hi... I guess you know where I'm going with this .. A younger man was helping someone by the paints and he was friendly with the customer. I got the older man ringing me out . He didn't say hello or ask to help me find anything when I saw him earlier in the aisles wandering right next to him. He was just as stone faced at the register . Why would I want to go back there and become a loyal customer ?? I'm writing this because I think it's a shame when a small business is being hurt unnecessarily .

I thought I'd be spending the day waiting for AAA, but I went to Hastings Paint and Hardware and asked if they could help, and the man at the front desk took it apart, put it back together correctly, and didn't charge me a cent. They're not many of those left anymore I went in remembering fondly, going into many of these stores over the years. Well, the store was just like I remembered those other stores . It is set up exactly like you remember. It's like stepping back in time 50 years ago. So many good things that you can buy practical things for the home. They have a nice aisle of games and cards. Even a retro new version of that fun electronic game Simon. I spent a good 45 minutes looking around. I should've taken a basket because I could hardly carry when I brought up to the counter. Leather cleaner. Undershirts. Lava soap, Brillo pads address labels. Yarn a blank videotape. A few lightbulbs. Some stick on hangers, shoe polish shoelaces plus a bunch more stuff. So nice to have a store that has so many good quality, practical things all up and down the aisles Not a lot of junk. Just good stuff. The cashier was very friendly and told me about the history of the store. It was open since 1960. Three generations of the same family have run the store. Definitely come here and you'll find lots of things that are practical that you'll need for your house. Maybe some gifts for the holidays too.

It's a convenient stop for both quick project runs and larger home improvement shopping. It's usually a good experience here, but I was especially impressed during my most recent visit because of their newer in-store pickup locker system. When you walk in, you can scan your order barcode at the pickup screen (or enter your order number), and one of the lockers automatically pops open with your items inside. It was quick, easy, and pretty cool to see in action. I even took a video of the process to share with this review. There's only so much you can fit in a locker, but hey, this is a big improvement over the old process. Still not five stars as I'm not a fan of their current return policy.
