I'll say the major plus of Home Hardware is the staff and how knowledgeable they are. I was finally getting to clearing out my basement for finishing it and had to remove a sink, washer and dryer. This meant closing and sealing the gas pipe as well as four water supply lines. Silly me, I went in not having measured anything, hadn't disconnected anything yet, etc. And the gentleman behind the counter walked me throughout the store to find everything I needed, based in his experience, and provided some great recommendations. It was one trip and I had the hardware and knowledge I needed to take on some serious housework. Really grateful to have them in the community.

Service is great as everyone working here is family and this actually cares about what they're doing. I'll take this any day over sorting through a gigantic warehouse of shit with people who don't want to be there. Local hardware stores are a godsend, and this is no exception.

On multiple visits, he stepped in and interrupted conversations I was having with staff, often in a dismissive and unhelpful way. It disrupted the interaction and made the experience unnecessarily uncomfortable. For example, I was asking about a hex key for my fridge handle. A staff member was explaining that the connection was worn out, and I was clarifying whether I could still get a key that fits the socket. At that point, Mr. Goldberg stepped in and said, "we're not doing repairs," which wasn't what I was asking. Similar interruptions have happened 2-3 times, so it doesn't feel like a one-off.

When you arrive, there's a screen where you can scan your order barcode or enter your order number. Your name and order pop up on a monitor along with how long you've been waiting -- very much like the old Sears pickup system from years ago, and it works well. While I was waiting, three different employees stopped to ask if I was being helped, which I appreciated. When my order was ready, someone brought it out on a dolly and helped me load it into my car. Loading turned out to be a bit challenging for a few reasons, but the employee helping me was incredibly patient and genuinely helpful throughout the process. While I'm not a fan of driving through the traffic to get to this location, pickup here was a breeze.

They came and reviewed our kitchen and asked questions on what we would like in the kitchen. A week later we were invited to their Sea Cliff office where they showed us our kitchen. My jaw dropped when they were showing it to us and I remember saying is this our kitchen? I never imaged our kitchen having an island but she was able to get that in there and it looked gorgeous. They helped us pick cabinets and our counter top. They also helped us with our knobs and gave us great sites to find our faucet and sink. What I loved most of all is the placement of the draws and cabinets. Every one of them is in the perfect place. I love that I can take food out of the refrigerator and the island is right there. The in-draw knife holder is in perfect placement for us to cook and the garage is also in perfect placement. We had a corner area in the kitchen and they suggested a lemans and it is just perfect. There is minimal movement when we are cooking as everything we need is within a step or two. Because we took down a weight bearing wall we had to have a support beam run through our island. John suggested he match the wood with our cabinets. We did and it makes the support beam look perfect through the island. Lastly, now that the kitchen and dining room are one we have a radiator in the dining room and John made us a beautiful cover that matches our cabinets. They are true professionals and I can't say enough how thankful we are that they helped us with this project.

Natural marble evokes images of nature and even the ocean. Quartzite can emit light and allow backlighting on a countertop. If you're interested in that type of thing. For me just seeing light through quartzite is amazing. The one thing I suggest is 1) go well before they close - they don't appreciate last minute browsers coming in at closing time. 2) if you buy - nark your piece or inspect before your fabricator pucks up. Because some slabs come from a group - make sure you choose and mark the one you want.
