It took me 3 weeks to get the appointment for an MR1 with Raleigh Radiology. My appointment was at…read morethe Holly Springs location. After arriving I waited 30 minutes after my appointment time to be taken back. I was brought to a mobile unit outside of the building. The MRI that I was getting required contrast. I had an uneasy feeling from the start with the tech, Scott. He blew my vein in my left arm. He said I had a weak vein. I have never been told I had weak veins and have had blood drawn and donated blood many times. He then proceeded to put the IV in the right arm. He could not fit between the table and cabinet, so he was doing it from behind me. I start to feel intense pain and ask what he was doing, and he told me he blew the vein in the right arm as well. The lady who brought me back came into the room when she heard me. Scott had a look of "I really messed up" on his face. He didn't even tell me what was happening next. She took over and said I would have to get rescheduled and took me back into the building to change. I said how could he have blown veins in both arms, I just didn't get it. She said they have had this happen with him before. I asked why Scott gets to keep his job. She said they have asked themselves that same question. I could tell that came out before she could stop it. I was very frustrated and now in pain in my right arm, mainly. I have to wait at least another 3 weeks to get an appointment with them. I left and called my doctor to get scheduled with Wake Radiology instead.

I had my previous records sent from Raleigh Radiology to Wake prior to a visit to try and avoid any break in information. At Wake, I had to wait over 30 minutes. The screening went quickly, maybe too quickly. The number of images was minimal compared to previous screenings. No surprise, I get a call that I need to come in again for "additional" images because they didn't get a full picture. I explained that I did not want a diagnostic screening and was assured that this was additional images as followup. Turned out that the "additional" images cost me out of pocket almost $500! I will be calling Raleigh Radiology to see what their cost would be for someone out of network. The standard of care is much, much higher at Raleigh Radiology.

While I was told it was a zit and a hematoma, myself and my PCP were discouraged by their prognoses and general attitude and therefore, sent me somewhere else for a second opinion. Turned out it was an external cyst and internal cyst that ruptured. Got an in office procedure done and sent to pathology. No ultra sound needed and the second practice was easy to work with. They also were receptive to questions and were straight forward with responses as well addressing all concerns. Only will return and recommend the other practice moving forward.
