First of all, two days before my reservation, I get an email from Amelia saying that she had seen my reservation request & fortunately for me, they had a last minute cancellation. I told her I had already spoken to and confirmed with 2 other people that I had a reservation for my dog to stay for a few days. I picked up my dog & he was so high energy (unusual for him, unless he hasn't gotten exercise in days). He was super hungry when I got him home, & he as well as the bed I asked to leave with him were COVERED in urine! Wow!!! I just started bringing my dog to this place before this pandemic and I must say that this is the BEST boarding and daycare facility I've ever seen. You can tell that the employees really love our dogs!!! They are so kind and patient!!! Their customer service skills always make my day because they take their time in assessing questions, concerns, and needs for our babies! I love that this facility is both indoors and outdoors. I'm very picky with who I trust with leaving my dog with she's my baby!! These people are truly some of the best people I've ever met!! My sweet Abigail loves coming and always whines with excitement when we pull up. A lot of the times she doesn't even want to go back home with me!! I could not recommend this place more. From the extremely courteous and kind owners, to the loving and hard working employees, to the perfect space of scenery with large yards to run in, and trails to explore. Crackerdog offers a great daycare program for all types of dogs. Their motto is "customizable canine care," and they really do provide that. I have a 7 month old golden retriever, Kimber, and a 4 year old shihpoo, Layla, who couldn't be more different. Kimber loves to be outside and ruff house with other puppies in her age bracket, play fetch, and get tummy rubs. She has a group of about 4 other puppies she gets to play with every time she comes to daycare. She loves it so much she starts whining in excitement as soon as we pull in. She's actually a really mild mannered puppy (unless you have a frisbee or tennis ball), but she will jump up and go crazy when the Crackerdog staff take her leash from me in the morning. Layla has taken a little longer to come around to going. We had a bad daycare experience a couple of years ago that she's still getting over. The Crackerdog staff has been amazing with accommodating her. One thing I love about their facilities is they have multiple types of "houses." Your dog can spend his/her indoor time in a open "suite" or a crate. I can't remember if there's more options. Layla has never been caged in her life, so I love the fact that they have open suites that remind me actually of a horse stall more than anything else. They also have lots of windows. It's not like a lot of the daycare and boarding facilities that feel like prison. I bring Layla's bed from home to make her more comfortable, and Crackerdog lets one of her friends, Bogie, stay in the suite with her, so it feels more like a play date. Layla is terrified of thunder. Today when I dropped her off, the girl that met me to get the dogs said Layla could hang out with her or in the office since thunderstorms are expected all day. When I picked Layla up from the bad daycare experience, she was shaking like she'd been abused. I'm sure they didn't do anything terrible to her, but she let me know that she never wanted to go back there. Of course, we never did. Whenever I pick Layla up from Crackerdog, she won't stop smiling. Even though, she doesn't always want to go like Kimber does, she always comes home happy. Kimber spends most of the day outside, rain or shine, and I'm sure comes inside covered in mud most days. The staff always rinse her down. They include at least one morning walk for daycare dogs on their nature trail. You can request more. They also have at least 3 yards that I have been in of varying sizes. They put the dogs out with groups of dogs with similar temperaments and size to assure each dog is having fun. They promise to spend time doing at least one 20 minute activity a day with each dog that the dog enjoys. That can include fetch, tummy rubs, tug-o-war, etc. They feed Kimber every day at 4pm for us. They give treats and food they buy from Tomlinson's to the dogs at no extra charge. On certain days I have to be at work early, which requires me to drop the dogs off 30 minutes before Crackerdog opens. They have never charged me for that. All of the things I've mentioned are just a normal part of daycare. Many dog daycare places would charge extra per walk or if you want your dog to have a treat. We have yet to encounter an extra that I've been charged for. I would highly recommend Crackerdog to anyone looking for daycare for their dog. Paid over $1000 for three dogs in two pens for ten days My primary beef is that my lab came back to us wheezing like an old jeep and they didn't even notice. It turned out that it was unrelated to her stay here but they failed to notice, or at least comment on, her condition which was quite obvious to us. Other nagging issues: They promised they would send pictures. They didn't. We had to write for any kind of update We were not told they don't take credit cards (REALLY???) so pickup was stressful and lengthy. Our only interaction with employees were with very young women (teens?) that were sweet but didn't instill us with confidence. The pens were small and, it seemed to me, our miniature dachshund could have jumped out. I'll grant you he's some kind of high-jumping freak of nature but, still, we had to draw this to the attendant's attention. Our previous stay was much easier but I don't think I'll be back to Crackerdog. read more

I'm new to Austin, and have been using Crackdog now for 9 months, and it's my precious dog Wally's favorite place. The staff have been personable and they always give me a report on Wally when I pick him up. They even tell me which dogs he made friends with that day. The grounds are large, the place is clean for a dog boarding/ doggie day care place. I highly recommend trying them out with your fur-babies. Wally will continue to go weekly, and I feel he's safe and very well watched. They respond quickly to texts whether you arrive early or late for drop offs/pick ups. read more

We are so pleased with Crackerdog! Our dog runs out of the car when we pull up on doggie daycare days. Her tail is wagging and she is ready for some playtime and walks down to the creek. We have used them for a weekly daycare day to help break up the week and give our dog a break in routine. She is always tuckered out from a day of play when we get her. This is a great place to help your dog socialize and become accustomed to being around other dogs. We used them to board for the first time a few weeks ago and were so thankful for the great care she got. They sent a few pictures and texted to let me know she was calm and not stressed. I was a bit anxious as this was her first time to board but she did great! She had a good week and we will definitely use them again in the future! She was freshly bathed when we got her and smelled like lavender! read more

It cost me close to $7000 to save my dogs life after she spent a few days in Crackerdogs care last year. She will be affected by this stay for the rest of her life, now requiring daily medications. When I first contacted them after her return home to investigate why she wasn't feeling well, I was lied to twice which prevented her from getting the care she needed in a timely manner. After the emergency surgery that saved her from an agonizing bowel obstruction and gave clear evidence to exactly what had happened (literally the emergency vet gave me the contents in a bag) not only did they not offer to help with the costs, they did not even refund my boarding fees. In fact, at that point it became nearly impossible to get a response from Crackerdog until the day I received a letter that stated, "Olive received quality care consistent with the high standards put forth by Cracker Dog." I have yet to come up with words to appropriately respond to this statement. In addition, during discussions with them I realized they were not only negligent to her, but also to all the dogs staying there at the time as they did not have her current vaccine records on file (this seemed to be the only thing they cared about righting). While her vaccines were up to date, this is clear proof that they don't pay attention to details and allow negligence while their staff is responsible for the safely and care of their customers' pets. The negligent care at Crackerdog could cost you your loved ones. This is not a statement I make lightly. I have hesitated to post this review because I truly don't like adding to the negativity that's already on the internet. However, I have had so many people request that I tell my story here that I have decided to post it. Mostly, I am hoping that this saves someone else from having to go through what we did. I know the owner of this kennel, so I had to try it when I went out of town. It turned out to be so much better than other places I've boarded my dog. It's a small kennel, so my dog gets the same individual attention he would get at home. At Crackerdog, they don't just stick your dog in a pen with a lot of other dogs. Each dog goes on walks and receives affection and playtime. They also offer daycare and grooming. I especially liked the written report I received when I picked up my dog. I dropped my Dog off for the first time, already feeling uneasy about the idea of boarding I was hoping to be reassured after seeing where my dog would be staying. When I asked if I could see where he would be staying they said "they needed to clean out a kennel for him" even though they knew I would be dropping off my dog that day. Then after picking up the dog we find out the "Nature walks they said they do" were only for bigger dogs even though they knew hew was only a 4 pound dog when we reserved the spot. They sold us on an idea that they never intended on doing. Having never taken my dog to a kennel, I didn't really know what to expect from this place. Usually my dog would go to a friend's house while I'm out of town, but when I moved to Westlake, this kennel is literally right across the street, so I thought I'd give it a try. The name is interesting and when I went on their website, it was obvious that they aren't just running a business to provide a service, they really love on your dog and give them the attention they need. I have a high anxiety/high need type pet who needs a lot of petting, lap time, and exercise. I knew that Crackerdog was the place for my little guy when I took him to another place because I forgot to make a reservation ahead of time. The other place was fine, but when I picked him up, he was a nervous wreck and didn't eat for 3 days (when I took him to the vet, he told me it was common for dogs to come back from kennels like that). I tried Crackerdog again several months later and had no issues when I picked him up after being there a week. The only downside is that you have to make your reservation way ahead of time, but that also shows that they must be doing something right! read more
