Good service and good grub. First time in years that I've been but it was good. May try it out again

When most everything was closed for the night, Cracker Barrel had their doors open and saved the late night! The employees were all nice and our waitress was fantastic. The restaurant was clean and it was nice seeing Cracker Barrel so late into the evening when the tables were empty and everything was quiet. Our food was a bit bland, which was a bummer. I don't know if they've changed recipes since we've last been to one some odd 5+ years ago. I assumed so considering the decor was completely different, too. The only saving grace to this location were the staff. Our cups were always filled and we were checked on continuously. However, the food was just too bland to even consider going to any Cracker Barrel ever again. Nostalgia is such an enemy to the mind, sometimes. read more

Met my daughter for good home cooking type food. Being on her own in an apartment now, she doesn't get her mom's chicken and dumplings anymore. No waiting we were seated immediately, she ordered chicken dumplings and hash brown casserole with fried okra. It was portioned to fill up an adult, or take some home for another meal. She said it was delicious. I ordered the seasoned grilled chicken breasts with pinto beans and mashed potatoes with brown gravy. It was very good and I think their brown gravy is delicious. What happened??? You used to be great Cracker Barrel. Stopped in yesterday for a late breakfast. Ordered eggs, hash brown casserole, ham and grits. Took half an hour for the food to come out, and they weren't busy. Eggs were cold, grits were as dry and lumpy, hash brown casserole cold, and ham dried out as much as country ham. My wife's food was just as bad, if not worse. We've had several friends mention that Cracker Barrel has gone down hi loll, but we just didn't want to believe them. We stopped here off I24 for lunch and thought we would be done fast. Even though we got seated fast , the waitress took our order and it took over a 1/2 hour to get our meal. My wife got the chicken pot pie but found a hair in it. She got upset and sent it back and she really didn't want another one but they brought it anyways. I had the grilled chicken BLT which I thought was good and came with fries. Our server was very nice and apologized for the incident . Whole meal took over an hour . So much for getting out quickly. Such a sad experience. This place one was a great place to eat. Now they have opened it up making everything so loud you can not hear people at your table or even your server. The wait time was double what we were told and the the food was such a lower quality than ever had from Cracker Barrel. We went Sunday and of course it was crowded but we only waited 20 minutes. While waiting we walked around and looked at the changes. Looks a lot better, brighter. I love the different pics, posters and signs they had hanging. They did a fantastic job redecorating the place inside and outside. Got called and led to a table. The Menu had some new items so we tried the Cookout Beef. They bring you the meal still wrapped in foil and hot. I had also ordered me some pinto beans on the side and so glad I did. Opened the foil dinner and my husband took the first taste and for him to close his eyes, chewing with a big smile I couldn't wait to try mine. People, it was so good. Tender beef, cut with a fork tender and then some. It had little red potatoes, corn on the cob, carrots, and I had the corn bread. It was a lot of food. I ended up bringing leftovers home and had them for lunch Monday. This was so close to being my mom's Sunday dinner. We couldn't and still can't believe how good it was. Saturday night in the Cracker Barrel parking lot means Sunday morning breakfast. This is a better than average overnight spot because it is far enough from the Interstate but there is still quite a bit of noise from the local road. The lot is level and I was not disturbed. Breakfast of bacon and eggs was great with friendly service and they have a free wifi so I was able to pound out a Yelp review while figuring out what was next on my tour of Eastern Tennessee. Me and my girlfriend moved here from Florida about 2 months ago. We live less than a mile from this Cracker Barrel, and it was actually a deciding factor when looking at rentals that we were so close to my favorite breakfast spot! Well, the first time I went, was dreadful, the second time wasn't much better, 3rd time was to-go, missing pancakes and bacon for my meal, and today... the last time we will be going to this location. The absolute worst! One of my two pancakes are burnt, almost crispy. My bacon looks like someone chewed on it and put it in my to go after, and the sausage looks like a hockey puck. I called to let a manager know, sat on hold for 10 minutes with zero answer. This place needs a management overhaul because the ones in place clearly have no clue what's going on. A young man drop lots of plates on the floor, by accident. Glass went all over the floor. No one bothered to picked the broken pieces of glass off the floor. afterwards, so-called manager or supervisor yelled at this young kid in front of customers. The service was slow. The waitress was rude. There were two of us. There was only enough silver ware for one person when taken to table. That silver ware was dirty. I told the waitress. she then brought us back two forks wrapped in a paper towel with no knives. I told her we needed silver ware for two. She said I brought you two forks. Place was dirty. Bathrooms were dirty. Took forever for the waiter to come over and take our orders took forever to get the coffee took forever to get refills and coffee. This place is really gone. Cracker Barrel is usually a great place to swing by for breakfast, and it's a usual road trip waypoint for my family. But this Smyrna location is disappointingly underwhelming. The service was on-time and the dining room was loud, but not too loud, so why the 3-Star review? The food was an utter letdown. Usually, Cracker Barrel pancakes have a thin crispy layer over them. Look at the attached image and you'll see a surprising lack of any crust on the pancake. That's not the worst part about this pancake, however: it looked and tasted like a run-of-the-mill reheated Kroger Aisle pancake. I of course know that Cracker Barrel cooks their pancakes fresh (or I desperately hope so, at least), it was just odd for a chain that usually gives the most stellar flapjacks I've had. I also ordered a side of sausage, which is usually well-grilled and succulent with flavorful. This Smyrna location had more in store for me, though: the sausage tasted slightly undercooked, almost as if it was grilled in a rush. And finally, I was excited to get their hashbrown casserole, a new item I hadn't tried. "Why not?" I thought. "I love hashbrowns!" I should've avoided it altogether and now will. It wasn't particularly bad or lacking, it just wasn't very rich or tasty. The cheese ultimately overpowered the hashbrowns that the casserole was named for. (Rule of Thumb: Whatever the casserole is named after, it should feature that ingredient the most.) On the whole, I didn't think the location would be so grotesquely mediocre, but there's always room for improvement. I hope to return to try their limited "Beesting Fried Chicken" and want to come back with a better review for this location. read more

came here today and my waitress Kim was there best server I've ever dealt with. she had the most positive attitude and was very prompt. The store manager Cessna was ideal, my 1 year old child who is antisocial was going crazy to get to her. Had a server (Kimberly?) yesterday that reeked of alcohol, and spoke very unprofessionally when she thought guests couldn't hear her. I am very disappointed because this was meant to be a special dinner with my family. I have always loved Cracker Barrel for breakfast and the attached country store always ends up with more of money than I planned. My girlfriend and I stopped in for breakfast. We had to wait 30 minutes for a seat but that is to be expected on a Saturday morning. The process of receiving a text message telling us our table was ready was simple and efficient. Katherine was our waitress and she was efficient, knowledgeable and very personable. Even as busy as it was, our meals came out quickly and together. My peach mimosa was incredible. I love their little bottles of syrup they give out and the syrup itself is much better than the average maple syrup. My girlfriend and I held hands and even kissed one another a few times and nobody got upset. I know that sounds trivial but it's a huge deal for same sex couples. Feeling safe and secure is important and this restaurant made us feel safe and respected. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Stayed @ the Avid Hotel across the street and this was a no brainer. There wasn't any wait and it wasn't hardly busy @ all. I ordered the double chicken breast with mashed & okra. Saying the mashed potato's were dry is a complete understatement. I couldn't hardly choke them down and the dab of gravy they put on them were sad. I had to ask for a side of gravy for the chicken because it didn't come out with any. I'm a little confused how that even happens because gravy usually always comes out with the chicken. Breakfast was hot and fresh. Coffee wasn't has hot as we like it but drinkable. Scrambled eggs were cooked well to our liking. Biscuits were hot and fluffy. Bacon was asked to be extra crispy and was not brought out crispy. All in all a good meal. Server was very attentive. read more

#80-2021 This cracker barrel near the hotels in Smyrna Tennessee there's a lot like many of the other ones but then there's a few differences too. The building looks almost the same with rocking chairs and on the porch like setting as you pull in but there's also some dining tables outside where when staff is available and on hand you can sit outside. Going to the manager it's a concept on a few stores not all of them but it's not as successful as they thought so I really don't look for it to be more than about a year before they Ace it but who knows. Walking in it looks like a typical cracker barrel general store first thing I was a little appalled at LOL was all the Christmas crap everywhere we're only the third day in oct got Halloween still. They did have some of that stuff out but still C'mon. this isn't Frankenmuth Michigan where it's Christmas all year round at bronner's this is cracker barrel down in Tennessee. Also walking around before I went into the restaurant I noticed they're a little different setup too where they have a cold retro Coke cooler and instead of a wall of warm soda limited choices but some of the vintage ones was a little different too. Other than that the same cracker barrel kitchen general store kind of stuff records and games and all the other stuff you find snacks vintage snacks cracker barrel items and everything else. So stomach was growling walked in was seated promptly. First thing I noticed were some tables were dirty with old dishes not cleaned up however they came out and got on the ball quickly which was a nice thing dining room was looking nice and at 4:00 p.m. about 15 minutes after I was there they lighted the lamps. Noticed on the drink menu this one's got the beer wine and mimosas here too. I asked my server after I ordered up a Coke zero easy on the ice if the side order the pill beans have to have that sauce in the onions she said no they just have some ham put in there I said cool. I also looked at the menu and thought about the catfish I said is the spicy they call it really spicy she said no it's just a Cajun seasoning I said okay. So I peruse the menu a little bit. Didn't really want a chicken fried steak or chicken fried chicken so I have to get the fish I'm glad I did. I went with the southern catfish fillets grilled spicy as they called it steak fries cornbread and pinto beans. She brought out my drink and some cornbread said she'll bring some more with dinner or biscuits I said I think I have enough it's cool threes plenty little corn muffins. But and the food came I was surprised how nice and professionally and played it it was first thing I did was I tried the fish just to see if it was really spicy and it wasn't it had a nice little zip to it with the Cajun seasoning it it was fantastic actually I will definitely have that again at this location hats off to the Cook. Well as far as the rest of the meal steak fries or steak fries LOL but the pinto beans were really yummy they were nicely could tell they were sitting around for a long time in the water they were soft the ham bits had a little bit of seat taste to him it was really really good I was very impressed with the whole meal. She checked on me periodically make sure I had everything I needed and I couldn't ask for better service or a fantastic meal there was excellent on my end. Which is why I'm giving this location the full five stars off the bat cuz it deserves it. like a lot of other places though talking to the manager it is a little you know tricky sometimes depending on in the peak hours if everybody shows up or not but that's not just cracker barrel or Tennessee that's all over the place we all know how it goes with employment staggering and shortages but all in all this was a fantastic cracker barrel I look forward to coming back it's close to my yard and trying the usual blueberry pancakes for breakfast. Thought about going for breakfast today but I got up too late and I knew I'd be waiting an hour hour and a half for a table so it was just a quick hotcakes and sausage down at McDonald's lol. Love this Cracker Barrel! We do both eat in and take out quite often. The food is delicious! I normally order the fried chicken, bone in or bone out, with the delicious turnip greens and Mac n cheese. Yummy!
