Visited The Print Shop in Smyrna last week...one of the most enjoyable evenings I've had in a very long time. This place will surprise you with the interior space (beautifully decorated) plus the outside seating which is also pet friendly. I went upstairs and sat at the bar where I met Kate...she is a non-stop dynamo behind the bar with a fun personality. The two dishes I enjoyed were specials for the evening and may not be available when you visit. My appetizer...black mussels in an elegant cream sauce...this dish blew me away. Make sure you dip the bread in the sauce, it was so good I was tempted to order another helping. For dinner the fried Grouper over a bed of gnocchi and a drizzle of aioli was incredible. The breading was light, the fish was perfectly cooked, and the combination of flavors was very well done. While I am not a fan of the texture of gnocchi...this was really good with the cream sauce. What sets this place apart...the people! Yes...the food is great! But when you spend four hours enjoying a great meal, intriguing conversation, and a smattering of food theory you know you've found a bit of paradise. This was our first time back since the change in ownership, and what a difference! I started with a blackberry old fashioned and cheese curds. My drink was excellent and the cheese curds were delicious. For my entree, I had the bacon brie chicken sandwich. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned, juicy, and full of flavor with the brie and raspberry jam. The chorizo brussel sprouts made a great side, packed with flavor. My wife also let me try her chicken piccata with seasonal vegetables, which were both amazing. All of the staff was welcoming and our server was knowledgeable of the menu and made good recommendations. We went on a Saturday night and they had live music upstairs, which was a great surprise. The band was very talented. If you haven't been yet, you need to check this place out, and if you went before, you should give it another chance. We will definitely be back! read more

Came in and ordered a variety of items only to get raw chicken wings. There was blood dripping from the chicken wings. The manager thought taking the wings off the bill was some sort of wonderful act of kindness. Poor food, poor customer service . I was not sure what to expect going to this establishment for the first time and taking 2 friends with us. I have read some fairly recent Yelp reviews that were not very flattering. I was very pleasantly surprised. It was great. The lunch menu had just enough choices for anyone and the prices were okay. Our server was sweet but she talked a bit too fast and we had a hard time understanding her. The interior decor was impressive having been an old print shop. Now for the food! The chicken tenders were so-so. The BLT was really a BLT and not a LT with little B. But the real show stopper was the Frenchman sandwich and the fries. A last minute decision, we decided to give The Print Shop another try with the new owners and I have to say it was a great experience. With it being such a crazy busy night due to Valentine's Day, I thought they ran things smoothly. Our bar tender/server Grace was so sweet and attentive. (Started with an E... sorry im horrible at names) They have only been open half a year. Not an overly friendly GF menu, but they have a a couple things. They have ranch.... We did a bunch of appetizers: Brussel sprouts with chorizo Sweet potato fries Cauliflower tots Tater tots (breaded with cheese) I had greens sautéed in garlic My take aways. The flavor was right, though heavy and saucy with burnt chorizo for the sprouts. I was expecting little more meaty and combined flavors. They were drenched in maple syrup. Potato fries were good. Ladies said the cauliflower tots were fabulous Tater tots were great ( not GF) The sautéed greens have SO MUCH POTENTIAL! Not sure why there had beans jn them, but cook them with a little salt, actual garlic with wine and lemon and I added apple cider vinegar to mine and it helped set them off. Wow! We were finally able to make it back after the change in ownership and they clearly made some good changes and known what they are doing. The staff were very friendly. We were seated upstairs where there was music going on (perfect volume and wonderful singers for this environment). My husband ordered a blackberry old fashioned and it was delicious! They stepped up the game with the appropriate ice block and everything. We started with the cheese curds and these were perfectly crispy and delicious. My husband ordered the chicken and Brie sandwich and I ordered the chicken piccata. Both were great! My portion was big enough for two meals! The seasonal vegetable on my plate was perfectly seasoned and I felt like needed to be mentioned because so many places overlook that side, but not here! We parked in the back and made our way up front to be seated. We were seated immediately and our waitress was there to take drink orders after a couple minutes. We ordered the pretzel bites and beer cheese dip! It was good the pretzels were just a little tough! Finally after asking someone in the kitchen area we were told there was no hostess and to seat ourselves. Food: The Smashburger was amazing! Also had the steak, egg and hash for brunch. This is a really cool space and a really fun spot for downtown Smyrna. You can feel the history of the building from the moment you walk in and I love how they leaned into it. Our experience was a little shaky, but still showed promise and I'm excited for what this place could be. That being said, we probably won't be going back for a little bit. Here's what we loved: the brussel sprouts were good. The honey and chorizo played really well together and truly complimented the sprouts. For my ranch lovers, this place doesn't slack and has a super garlic forward flavor. Now for the negatives, and I truly hope that they can work some of these out because if they do this place can become an amazing spot. Right off the bat, parking is a huge issue. There are only a handful of spots so you're most likely going to have to park far away and walk. Keep an eye out for the signs before you park. Secondly, there's some room for improvement with the staff and training. We were greeted by the host and sat immediately (awesome), but then the host and a server stopped us midway to our table and stood there arguing about the table/section we were going to be sat in. We stood there for 30 seconds awkwardly while they argued and once they finished the host ran upstairs and expected us to follow at his pace. It was not a smooth process getting seated, but with better training and communication this could easily be fixed. Another alarming thing we saw was the bartender eating with her hands behind the bar and still serving while doing it. She wasn't washing her hands or anything and it made us question the food safety protocols in order here. It just seems kind of odd that this would be happening on the floor and not in the back of the house. Finally, both of our dishes were under seasoned. The burger was bland and all you could taste was cheese and bun, no flavor from the meat. The Denver steak was cooked perfectly, but had no flavor to it and could've really benefited from a little bit more salt, pepper and garlic. Overall though the food experience was quite mediocre for the high price paid. 12.00 for pork rinds was overpriced for the serving size. Portion on the Shrimp Aglio e Olio was fine (we subbed chicken), but it was SO bland. It was pretty much just butter noodles with the meat on top. There was no hint of white wine or parm nor fresh herbs as detailed. Not worth 28.00. Chicken Piccata was the most flavorful item but was also just okay. We won't go back unfortunately. read more

If the chorizo had more flavor and heat, they would've been 5 stars! The shrimp were small and did not taste as if they were breaded. They tasted ok. The hamburger was really good as were the sweet potato fries and regular fries. My daughter and her husband enjoyed their meals of chicken wings, watermelon salad, wedge salad and another hamburger. The employees were nice but the service wasn't there. No checking back to see if we needed anything or clearing the dishes. My husband had to go ask for the salad and ketchup several times. We had a party of 16 people, the staff were very accommodating and had a table ready for us (we made a reservation). The building itself used to be an actual print shop, and several pieces of the decor look to be from the original building. With the weather being a little on the chilly/windy side, the outdoor seating was not open yet, but come summertime it's a definite reason to revisit. My new favorite spot in town! It is the best atmosphere for a date night or girls night, upstairs is my favorite, such a vibe! She gave great recommendations, drinks were always filled, friendly, and inviting. The food was mediocre. I got the cheese curds, they were chewy. Salmon and Brussels; Brussels were absolutely delicious, the salmon could use some more flavor. My friend had the smash burger. It was extremely dry and nothing smashed about it. Overall, we had a fairly decent experience here! To try to not make this too long I was planning on bringing a larger party (10 people) here for my friends surprise birthday party. I made a reservation on Wednesday for the following Sunday afternoon. I made the reservation online, which only would allow me to make a reservation for six people. I called the restaurant to try to adjust the reservation for 10 people, but no one answered. I did call every day, and left several messages for the restaurant to call me back to confirm this reservation. I never received a call back. Therefore, I decided to go to the restaurant the day before to ensure that my reservation was accurate and to scope the place out, so I could figure out where my party would want to sit. I spoke to a really nice waitress who adjusted my reservation and told me that we would be able to reserve the patio (where I wanted to be seated). On the day of my reservation two hours before my reservation was scheduled. I got a call from the general manager, stating that they would not be able to reserve any patio seating as it was first come first served. Although I can understand that being a rule, it definitely would've been nice to know that much earlier than two hours before I was supposed to be there for a surprise party. I decided to go an hour early to try to secure a table since I was informed that it was first come first serve. There were several people that had just arrived and so it was not looking good that we would be able to have all of us sit together outside. I talked to the manager several times about possible solutions that we could come up with in order for my party to be able to sit together and outside I will say that the manager was not very kind at all. From starting our conversation on the phone earlier and my interactions with her in trying to come up with a solution were very unpleasant. She did not seem very willing to work with me. I generally try to be a very kind and reasonable person, however, I was getting really frustrated with the fact that I made a reservation and no one called me back, and the manager called me two hours before my reservation, and was unwilling to work with me about Being able to sit my whole party together on the patio. I eventually was able to come up with the idea of getting an extra table from upstairs. (she informed me that there were no extra tables available because they were all "taken"... even though I had a reservation..?) All in all, we were able to sit as a group after she excepted my idea. Besides the interaction with that manager, our experience was pleasant! Shelby, the bartender was extremely nice to me the entire time and I reallyappreciated her. The food came out fairly quickly, and the chicken was absolutely delicious! I think the vibe there is really cool. I wasn't the biggest fan of having to basically be our own servers... Where we had to get up and place our own orders and get up and go ask for certain things , but I guess it wasn't the end of the world. Also, it was really confusing as to where the "front "was... And really unsure how you should go about seating yourself or getting serviced... It just seems like the flow of coming in and being seated somewhere and getting service is extremely unclear. I also definitely think that they need to take a look at their reservations procedures... And again, the manager was just not pleasant to work with. I think it's important that when you work in customer service that you are kind when you are dealing with situations, even when they might be difficult. This manager really lacked kindness. I would definitely go again.. but probably not with a group, because right now they don't seem very equipped to handle that. Or.. just hope another manager is on duty read more

We love this place! It is thoughtfully decorated and has a very welcoming vibe. Can't wait to come here in the Spring and enjoy their patios. Every team member we encountered greeted us (with eye contact)...not like when you walk into Moe's Southwest Grill and get the very insincere "Welcome to Moe's". I really like the way the staff works together. A guy that wasn't our server even offered to fill our drinks. That rarely happens anywhere we go. Now for the food....I'm a French fry snob. We had the Print Shop Fries for an app. They were SO good! The fries were perfectly crunchy then they topped it with lots of cheesy, bacony goodness. My boyfriend had the burger and he said it was really good. Nice crunch and yummy spicy sauce. I had the Maple Dijon Salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly but the sauce was the star. The good: Great bar area, plenty of seating, nice patio area. I had the Smashburger while my wife had the chicken sandwich. Both were really good, except for the rolls being a bit stale. Service was excellent, everyone was very pleasant. Several large TVs if you're interested in catching a game The not so good: I ordered one of their specialty espresso martinis, my wife ordered a specialty margarita. I then ordered a bourbon drink as a follow up. All of the drinks had hardly any alcohol, and we're over the top sweet. For $13-$14 a drink in Smyrna, I better taste some alcohol. I also noticed that the bartenders, while very nice, struggled to make even the simplest of drinks for other guests. They could def use more training. I hope this place improves over time, I'd love to have a place local to go to on a more regular basis! read more
