It was Shoney's annual free hot fudge cake day. The restaurant was hopping with people but the service was great. It did take a little bit to get our food but completely understandable. The place was hopping, and very clean. The buffet was amazing and immaculate. They kept cleaning between each person. Just beautiful. We had an amazing waitress named Taylor and she came by every few seconds to refill our tea and make sure we're OK and make sure my bro got his hot sauce. The MPV however, was the food. Oh my God, the most fluffy biscuits ever, the crispy bacon piles of it, the sausage, they were cooked to perfection. Don't you get me started all the wonderful casseroles and things they had the most amazing cornbread with jalapeño, the sweet cornbread muffin that had cranberries in it. It been a while since I've been to Shoney's for the breakfast buffet. Mainly because most of them have since closed from the last time I've been. It was spacious and had plenty of needed seating because there were a lot of people in today. Server was as good as she could be under the condition of having a few tables. Mad me smile today. We went with our family for an extended family secondary Thanksgiving get together, on a Saturday night. 11 people total. We were seated promptly, the table and restaurant were very clean. Some of our party had the food bar, others ordered from the menu; I think everyone enjoyed their meal and the opportunity to have this meal together. There was a tip automatically added to our bill, but I think it was 15 or 18%, I think our entire party left more to make our tips 20%+, because the server absolutely deserved it. Ate here on Dec 3 2023. I had the breakfast bar and medium Diet drink. I was seated promptly at the single seat bar (just me didn't need a whole table as the place was extremely busy) Ambiance was great in the restaurant . The employees were kind and engaging. The store was clean and tables were being cleared rapidly when patrons got up to leave. One concern was that scrambled eggs only being available on one side of the breakfast bar at the time of the day. (9:00 AM) . Also the appearance of the eggs needs a little work. They appeared very crumbly an unappealing. Perhaps some butter added to cooking process might help. I know that's what i would do as i was a former food professional in my earlier years. We visited our daughter's family and before we traveled back to the great state of NC, we had dinner. I'd say for a corporate - it wasn't crap. I like smaller restaurants, individually owned, you know, like America 1920 thru 1970 ish - So I will say they did a good JOB for SUNDAY Brunch - which is what we had. lots of food, the waitress was on time for fresh coffee, and the fact that they had homemade whipped cream for whatever (pancakes waffles) was the push I needed to write a review. 6 Hour drive back home and I wasn't hungry - so mission accomplished. read more

The classic breakfast buffet, happy to see the open atmosphere and lots of food options, plenty of sodium and everything typical of a place like this but good value and great easy fill up. We couldn't find too much to complain about even though most of the French toast sticks were very tough and not really edible. Eggs were the usual slightly overbaked, potato dishes did us very well. Our waitress was very pleasant and helpful ! She had her hair sort of died a grey-ish color , and she was so nice to us and our kids ! I wish we would have gotten her name . The food was fabulous, and we were pleasantly surprised that our little ones ate free! All the tables had hand sanitizer on them , and there were lots of gloves which were required when handling buffet handles . Everything felt very sanitary and safe . All the staff had masks on , and the manager checking us out was wonderful as well ! We would be back in a heartbeat if we lived closer . read more

I drove from Murfreesboro to go eat here. I have been to this location on 3 other occasions and it's always been great. I decided to go there tonight and was extremely disappointed. I ordered a tea and ordered a Slim Jim sandwich with Onion Rings, added the salad bar. I ask I can get some mashed potatoes off the bar right? I was told no I couldn't. I have been going to Shoney's my whole life and have always been able to get the vegetables off the bar. I worked there for almost 2 years as well. I asked if I got an entrée if I could get some mashed potatoes and corn. I was told no again. I have never had this issue, even at this Shoney's. I asked to speak to a a manager. I was told that I could add the salad bar and be charged extra for the sides. I mean really smh!? I want to know when this supposed change happened. I finally said charge me for the tea and I would leave. She Saudi don't worry about the tea, I asked again to make sure and she don't worry about it. You have lost a customer for life over some mashed potatoes and corn. It makes me even more upset because I went out of my way to drive like 20 miles to eat there. The one in Nashville is absolutely horrible food wise and I won't go there. This location is actually a good location and I had great experiences before. Never heard of this place before, so we figured we'd try it during our cross-country road trip. Food was pretty good, our server was wonderful & the restaurant itself was pretty clean! No pics of food cuz we dove in to our food , but I had BBQ cheddar chicken w/rice. The chicken was a little rubbery, but the other flavors were very tasty and the rice was really good! Hubbs had steak tip stir-fry and he said that was VERY good & our daughter had the kids cheeseburger sliders. The kids sliders w/fries were "SO GOOD" according to the 6-year-old. Our server was Kendall (hopefully I spelled it right) and she was so kind, attentive and makes some GREAT sweet tea! She dealt with me changing my mind, my hubbs being pretty out of it from driving so much and our daughter being super picky. She always had our drinks full, made sure we were good and we never had to wait for anything!! The overall of the restaurant was clean, the buffet area was very well managed w/gloves for customers to wear if they chose to do so and every few mins a manager would come through and wipe things down. Bathrooms were clean, but men's was missing paper towels and didn't have a hand dryer option and the soap in the women's restaurant was basically colored water, but if that's the worst thing, it's all good! read more

Horrible! Terrible and rude management. Hostile work environment for employees! I give this restaurant an F------ My family and I went to this location with a party of 7. I went in to get a table. The rest of my family members were in the parking lot trying to park. The sweet hostess started to get the menus together and "the owner" comes over and asks what she's doing. The hostess said she was about to sit a party of 7. The "owner" asked if the entire party was here. I days "yes" the other 4 were parking. She very rudely said to the hostess "put them on a waiting list, aggressively and repeatedly pointing her finger to a sheet of paper and said "we don't seat anyone until the entire party is IN THE building." I was standing there waiting for the 4 members of my family that are still trying to get parked and is handicapped to get "inside the building", I watched her interactions with the employees, barking off demands and just down right belittling "her" employees. I honestly was appalled at her management skills or lack there of. You could see that the employees hated being there and were unhappy. Then my son was playing the charade game machine while we were standing there. He played it twice and then out of no where " the owner" runs over to the machine and wipes down the machine with what y am assuming to be disinfectant wipes right in front of us! And then told the hostess that the gaming machine needs to be wiped down every hour. She acted like my son was dirty and had to clean it immediately after he touched it. My son saw this and looked up at me and said "mommy does she think I've got something.. I'm not dirty". As she walks over to seat us but before she does she does a head count! I said "really". Then "the owner" asks me if there's a problem, I replied "Yes, your attitude". "The owner" says "well that's fine, I don't have to serve you and you can leave". I then ask "the owner" her name and a phone number to corporate. She replies "I am the owner and you can leave now". This "owner" of this location is rude and looks at her employees as stupid and beneath her. I hope her staff can find other places of employment and stop taking this work place abuse and hostile work environment she is imposing on them. And you wonder why people won't work... Is because of "owners" or management such as this! I had heard previously from other members of the community that Shoneys " was going down hill" and that staff was quitting in large quantities because they just couldn't take it anymore working for "the owner". Breakfast bar, lunch bar and I'm sure dinner bar but fruits and vegetables were pretty lacking so as a salad bar not sure why they call it that. You can get a whole meal from it. Standard breakfast of melons, oranges, powdered eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, French toast and French toast sticks, grits, potatoes, and Mexican rice (yes, really). All of moderately hot. Had to wait several minutes to be seated. when server came for drink order, I asked him about wiping our table. He ran his hand across the table and asked if we wanted to change tables. He was too busy talking with a female worker to follow up with us about drink refills. I asked for Coke refill and the glass he brought was the color of weak tea. I took it back to the server area and the female employee had to tell him I was waiting. I asked for another Coke and he brought to the table and it also tasted watered down. Had to wait at the register for him to bring us a ticket. The food from the buffet wasn't very good either. Shame we couldn't get our Senior discount as at most other places. Stopped by while traveling along I-40 and this is one of the better Shoney's locations that I have visited. The staff was friendly and fast, salad bar was fresh and variety was good. My son and I ate from the buffet and caught it at a time where they had both breakfast and lunch. He had no complaints from the breakfast side and I had meat loaf, green beans and mashed potatoes. The meat loaf was far better than expected. Finished it off with some fresh fruit that actually was fresh! If I were passing by that way again, I would definitely stop back by for a meal. read more

Big props to the team at Shoneys in Lebanon, TN. My husband and I were driving through heading to East Tennessee on a cold rainy day and I really wanted a bowl of soup. Remembering Shoney's Cabbage Soup from my college days I convinced him to go. We had not stepped into a Shoney's in many years but thought we would give this one a shot. Wow we were so pleasantly surprised! Such a clean, open place with a spotless hot bar and very well stocked salad bar. The staff were so nice and worked together like a well oiled machine. I was at Shoney's in Lebanon TN in February of 2022 and fell on the left side of outer sidewalk and injured myself. The owner of the store said she was sorry and would take care of everything. She turned the accident into her Insurance company; her agent told me she really didn't care and have had NO response from either since. The sidewalk is very unsafe and to high on the left side of the store, with no easy access. The sidewalk is over 8 inches in some places and no handrails, handicap accessible or even the yellow caution stripes of to alert of high step riser, NO safety precautions at all to prevent injury. I feel like my accident happened because of the negligence of Shoney's Corporation and the personal Owner of the store. I told her Insurance Company these problems and I was told she just didn't care or had time to help me. I think that this is a problem that the store could have prevented, the waitress inside had told me this has happened before. She agreed that side of the building was unsafe. I reported this problem to the local health department, ADA, OSHA and Codes department in Lebanon. I would appreciate if owner, or someone associated to Shoney's Corporate would addresses this problem before this causes another injury or worse. To present date this has not been addressed by Shoney's, Owner, or Insurance Company. I feel Shoney's Corporate and Owner has no priority for their patron's safety or protection. read more

After requesting chicken on the buffet bar before I sat down and being told there would be fresh fresh chicken in 15 minutes max, I sat down, ate a salad and waited 40 minutes, still no chicken. Asked for a manager, Patrick pranced up front to inquire about what my beef was. I said what I stated and he said well the chicken takes 13-15 minutes and I stated AND where is it ???? I said I had a salad and have been waiting and now I am full, and he stated, so you've had your full then ? Freaking no, before I sat down I requested and was promised chicken and it still is not on the food bar how are you going to make a 2-3 times a week customer happy ? I said by comping my "salad" and apologizing. He just stared up at the ceiling looking for rainbow unicorns or something in silence. Well....during our trip to Nashville we decided to try this Shoneys for breakfast. Kinda wish we hadnt. to start off I want to say that our waitress was great. She was prompt, polite, super nice, and DEF over worked that day. It was easter morning and the place was a little busy. We all decided to have the breakfast bar. Half of the items on the bar were ok. hot and tasty. The other half was either room temp or cold and the opposite consistency of what it should be. My biggest issue was while I was waiting to get through the line, I saw one of the staff bring out a tray of "cheesy potatoes" from the kitchen. As he was getting ready to fill the buffet he dropped the pan below the counter and obviously to the floor. I was curious on how he would handle it so I watched. He picked up the pan (which you could easily tell had food scrapped back into it) and took it straight to the kitchen. About 1 minute later he returned back out with what I sure was the SAME pan of potatoes, I could tell because I could see the same parts of the pan where food spilled out of before. We tried the Shoney's in Lebanon today for lunch. It was excellent. The variety on the buffet was great and it was well stocked. The fried chicken was delicious and steamy hot. The breakfast bar was available since it was Sunday lunch and it was delicious also. It was very clean- unlike some Shoney's I have visited in the past.
