Let's not over think this, it's a cracker barrel. We're looking for three things.... Cleanliness, helpful staff, and decent food. Everything was very clean. So that's a positive. Food was consistently good. I got the Country Boy which was ham, eggs, hashbrown casserole and fried apples. Kid got a NY Strip and eggs. I have to tell you, I was surprised how tender it looked. He cut into it like a hot knife through butter. He said it was very good. Unfortunately, the service seemed overwhelmed. We never got any napkins. Never got refills on our water or iced tea. That was just a little rough. All in all, it's consistent with every other cracker barrel. I have to cut a star out for lack of attention. At least check on us once. I don't mind waiting. I honestly don't. I'm very rarely in a rush, but just be attentive. read more

We waited 45 minutes to be seated, then a little less than an hour for our food. Everyone else at my table got their meals, but mine came 20 minutes later, after everyone had already finished eating. To make things worse, our server brought the check right after my food arrived because everyone else was done. Once we paid, she stopped checking on our table--even though I was still eating. I couldn't get a refill or any service at all. The delays were frustrating, but being forgotten while I was still eating made the experience even worse. read more

My family and I went here when in the area and it was actually so good. It was our first time at a Cracker Barrel and we were all so impressed. Service was ok. Bit slow in general. Server was nice. Good portions for the price. The burger steak was surprisingly tasty, cooked well and a nice size. I got the side salad and coleslaw for sides... good value. App was a basket of white cheddar cheese balls... very tasty but kind of small. Wife got the 4 sides. Mashed potatoes were really good. Picked up my Dad to spend some quality time with him and give my Stepmom some "me time." My Dad and I love car/truck/motorcycle shows, drag races, local high school athletic events, etc etc etc. Dad is now at the stage in life that doesn't allow for us to do those things any longer, so I just plan outings so we can just hang out. It is Ohio Bike Week in Sandusky, so I thought Dad and I would make the drive to Sandusky, have a good breakfast at Cracker Barrel, then do a drive through the parking lot behind Mad River Harley Davidson, so Dad could see all the bikes. It was a bit later in the morning on a Saturday, and we were able to be seated right away. Dad and I both wanted breakfast, so we began to go through the vast menu options. Took a while for us to make up our minds, but we accomplished the task. Whew! Dad's breakfast consisted of: scrambled eggs; sweet ham; hashbrown casserole; and biscuits & gravy. I am thinking to myself, how is he going to eat all of this? But it's what he wanted. I ordered the Grandma's Breakfast: french toast, scrambled eggs, slice of bacon, sausage patty, country ham, and grits. Due to the crowd, it took some time for our food to come out. This should've given us time to chat, but there was a table of individuals who were very loud, making it difficult to hear much of anything else. Fortunately, it wasn't long before they left, and the rest of our area of the restaurant could hear ourselves think once again! Our food was all very good and believe it or not, Dad ate everything but one of the biscuits! Our server was attentive as she could be, and she was very pleasant. The service was great and so was the hostess. However, I was there to have breakfast with my niece, and we both ordered biscuits and gravy, a staple for Cracker Barrel. The food was absolutely tasteless. The gravy was watery with no flavor and the eggs were cooked well but also tasteless. We were both scratching our heads as the whole meal was just blah. The food here was great! The waitstaff is so friendly! The store and restaurant are clean. The waitstaff were very attentive to my needs and refilled my drink before I even asked. One thing I used to like about Cracker Barrel was their fried catfish, greens and macaroni and cheese. However, the last order I placed with them was not good at all I don't know what happened. Since this was the beginning of a new year I decided to give them another chance. I ordered my usual fried catfish greens and mac and cheese. The catfish was okay but the macaroni and cheese was dry the greens were not that great. I also ordered a cornbread muffin and a biscuit which turned out to be like hockey pucks. As the old saying goes fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me. Needless to say I will not be ordering from Cracker barrel ever again! read more

Today my family and i stopped in for breakfast after leaving Kalahari. The wait for a table was one hour and we waited every bit of it before being seated. But what we didn't expect was to wait another hour after ordering for our food. Server was nice but kept apologizing but giving no real answers for the wait. After several times i expressed inpatience the shift manager comes over also with apologies but no update on when we could expect our food. They keep saying we dont know. How is this possible and we are the only table still waiting for food. We left after 90 mins with no food! I have heard Cracker Barrel can be discriminatory against blacks but i truly believe that is what my family and i faced today. We waited 15min at our table to be recognized. She took our drink order and food order. 10-15min later she comes out with food for another table. Where the heck were you the last 15min? Then we see her take out another tray to somewhere else. Then she sees us w/o drinks and gets them. (Never says a word as she passes) another person brought out our food. We had ordered a variety of jellies with our biscuits. The lady that served our meal didn't know we ordered them im sure. Our original waitress never did come check on us for me to ask for our jellies. Went here for a family pit stop on vacation. We were seated right away but sat for almost 20 minutes in a 3/4 empty restaurant waiting for someone to get our drink order or even greet us. Tried several times to get the attention of the hostess (who made eye contact but kept walking...) or servers. By the time our server came over we were at least able to put in our whole order to save time. Server was unfriendly and offered no reason or apology for ignoring us for 20 minutes. Drinks took another 5 minutes to arrive. Then...like magic--food came much faster than expected and was great. Wife got rainbow trout, I got chicken pot pie, and kids got chicken fingers and pancakes and everyone was very happy with their food. Our server improved at this point checking in with us more frequently after food was on the table but by that time the damage of the first impression had been done. 5/5 for food and prices and it's a Cracker Barrel, so if you like Cracker Barrel's whole vibe and offerings that's a 5/5 too. But service was bad at this location. Most inexcusably slow and unfriendly service we've had anywhere in a very long time. Came on Saturday morning on our way out of town. Seated right away and then ignored for 20 min while customers at the surrounding tables were waited on immediately. We stopped 2 different servers who were obv very busy. We were brushed off both times. Felt like we were seated in between sections and it wasn't clear who was supposed to serve us. We stopped in late Friday night with a large party. I called ahead and they said they'd put us on their call ahead list. We got there and we were not on any list which was frustrating. The five stars is because the manager apologized for miscommunication and said they'd work to get us seated. They sat us pretty quickly (2 separate tables) and we had an amazing waitress (kelly I believe was her name). She was excellent. I'll be honest: if I had written this review prior to last weekend, it would be a 5 star review. No doubt. Now, however, with another recent review highlighting the same problems I ran into recently, I unfortunately need to write a review that talks about what this place usually is - while also offering a word of caution as to what seems to be going on during its less than ideal days of operation. The 5-star Cracker Barrel that I normally know and love is great because, well, it's your standard Cracker Barrel. It's a tasty protein and carb-tastic treat that my friends and I often indulge in after visiting Cedar Point for the weekend. The food is typically delicious all around, and even the healthier substitutes recently added to the menu taste great (making it much easier for me to avoid a mega overindulgence of Cracker Barrel fare while dining here). Plus, the kitchen is normally super quick, and the staff staff kind, attentive, patient and very helpful (noteworthy as the group I visit with is known to include young children). The result of these combined points is that average meal here is tasty, quick, and just what my friends and I need before we hit the road and head back home after visiting the area. Not a bad deal at all, I'd say. But, after last weekend, I unfortunately left feeling less than impressed with what is normally a highlight in my Cedar Point weekends. The normally attentive staff were non-existent, at least at our table, where we were never checked on and drinks went unfilled for most of our visit. We experienced a 40 minute wait for our food to be prepped - when the restaurant wasn't even full. And after all of that? Most of the people at our table were brought food that ranged from cold to downright inedible! At the end of it all, while we had walked in at 9:45 that morning to a pretty empty restaurant, we didn't even receive all of our food - including the fixed versions - until after 11:00am. And in at least one instance the "fixed" meal included over-cooked bacon and the wrong style of eggs entirely. Kind of the opposite of the great service and delicious dining I'm used to experiencing here. We left with the frankly dreadful meal comped, thank goodness, as we spoke to two managers about the wait and cold food. Hopefully, they take the feedback seriously. But I'll definitely be dining with caution here during future trips, until it's been proven to me that whatever kinks they're dealing with behind the scenes have been addressed and the normal level of awesome has been restored to this location. read more

Service was a joke. We didn't get our party of 3 meal until after the couple that was behind us got there's first. Pancakes were tough. Tasted like old batter. Biscuits were hard, cold and old. We asked for a bottle of syrup to take with my sons last pancake, we were told no and were given 2 plastic cups of syrup. I then took the cups of syrup and filled the bottle we had already used. We came here on a Saturday evening and were seated right away. The restaurant actually seemed a little emptier than I would have expected compared to the one in my home town. Our server was nice and friendly. The food is always a great deal - I love their grilled chicken tenderloins and that you get 3 sides + a bread! I would said compared to multiple visits in the past, the chicken was a little overdone / more dry for me and the mac and cheese didn't taste like expected, and broccoli was way underdone. HOWEVER, I have had this meal before and I love it so I'm hoping it was just an off day :) They have a limited time menu that featured banana pudding- I almost wish my dinner portion wasn't so large so I would have had room to try that. Zero star. As out of town people we were racially profiled at this location. Bringing our own high chair seat to sit on a regular chair, we were told that it was against the law to have a high chair on the end of the table. Then we tried to look up the local law we couldn't find anything saying that in Ohio or anywhere. She began to throw our straws on the table. While sitting there we were extremely uncomfortable and felt racially profiled and a complaint will be made to the company. I love Cracker Barrel and since we don't have one at home I make it a point to stop at one where ever I can. This location in particular is one of my favorites. The service was fast, the food was really good and the location is convenient. We ordered the campfire brisket with eggs and Grandma's breakfast (secret menu item). Both were super yummy and the portions were huge. The food at this location tasted better than any other location I have been to. Oh and I ordered an iced caramel latte which was also super good, which I have to say pleasantly surprised me. I would highly recommend eating here! read more

I love Cracker Barrel, but was honestly afraid to stop at this location after reading some of the reviews. But, we did anyway and I'm glad! Our experience was wonderful. Our waitress took our order quickly, food came out correct, hot and quickly. My coffee cup was never empty. All of the staff, from the hostess to the cashier, were friendly. We've had nothing but good experiences at our Cracker Barrel's in Central Ohio but this was dismal. Thinking we would venture out for breakfast from GWL and enjoy our breakfast - well we did not. Two small kids in tow you would think speed would be in consideration, well I was way wrong. A Monday morning with less than 10 seats filled and our 9am breakfast took about 40+ minutes to arrive and received wrong items. Giving spicy sausage to a 1 year old, burnt toast and many more issues. This experience changes my mind about Cracker Barrel and won't be going back. read more

We did not have a good experience at this particular Cracker Barrel. The pancakes and french toast tasted terrible (taste was way off), and the coffee was average. Also, the maple syrup was very runny and thin, probably due to warming it up too much. Why do they even warm up the syrup? When I was a kid growing up in the 70's, people didn't warm their syrup up. They had it at room temperature, or chilled, which gave it thicker consistency. Also, the biscuits were not good. They tasted stale, and dry, as if the bread dough was not thoroughly mixed. I'll stick to my local Cracker Barrel here in Brooklyn, Ohio, and i've never had a bad experience there. read more

Standard Cracker Barrel, great service, great food. If you been to one, you know they have great breakfast. We shared French Toast, Pecan Pancakes, Blueberry Pancakes,eggs, bacon, taters, browns...it was good. The warm syrup is always a bonus too. I would go back if I was in the area. read more

Conundrum Barrel is more like it. Normally I would avoid places like this chain like the proverbial plague, and having to paw your way through crowds of RV-sprung Walmartians browsing the faux country crapola in the ersatz country store retail section up front is maddening. Not only that, for a long time there was a gay-lesbian boycott because of some unfortunate business practices--that's been resolved, but it still leaves a bad taste. Unfortunately, the food here does NOT leave a bad taste, and when you're stuck somewhere in the hinterlands with few options, this is actually a good bet, if you can hack the Ma and Pa Kettle interior decor for an hour or so. I always get a side of greenbeans and a side of corn, and if I'm having breakfast I go for the sausage patties, which they make with a lot of ham in it so it has this extra savory taste. Pancakes rock the house and they sometimes offer this mac and cheese that includes chunks of sausage, chicken, and ham. Yeah, that's how one winds up looking like an RV-sprung Walmartian, but if your'e just visiting Cracker Barrel country, it is a reasonable and tasty indulgence. read more
