Gahh, I am in love and I don't care who knows it!!! Man is this a good buffet! We drove all the way from Cedar Point to eat here. Here is the scoop, we were at Cedar Point, my old work place so I felt sick the whole time anyways, but anyhoo we were going to eat at the Midway Market but I decided to try something different and go the whole day in the park then go here. Important point to make though is that the restaurant is open based on occupancy at the hotel. So we had to call and the phone line is super confusing so have patients and it is option three that will get you to an operator who will give you answers. The entrance to the resort is right by the restaurant as long as you enter across the bridge or at the valet. You do not have to be a guest at the hotel as we were not. You have to walk though a gift shop but it is simple to find. The front cashier was super friendly and after paying $21 you get seated. The restaurant was relatively empty which is a surprise. The food is exceptional, very very good. I mean that, it was not the typical mass produced slop but each were in a skillet or pan; making me think that they were each cooked with care and individuality. The pot roast was to die for, tasted like carnitas almost but had a rich smokey flavor and fell off the spoon. It marked the fat that is often seen so I knew it was a good cut that was used. Mashed potatoes with gravy, these were divine, not buttery tasting but instead a rich cream taste that complimented it well with the beef gravy. Bang Bang pork tenderloin was sweet but whole tasting Broccoli was offered at the salad bar with dip, steamed, and steamed with cheese. Outstanding meatloaf that was a solid consistency and not airy where it is hallowed in the middle and surrounding and falls apart, served in blocks that are just the right size potion rice pilaf was very tasty as well, with a lightly butter taste. Mac and Cheese, it made my heart stop it was so good, very creamy and a lot of butter. Penne with creamy red, almost vodka like sauce, chicken parmesian, tasted like mama usta make. chicken Alfredo noodles. very good breadsticks, delicious and soft. Nacho bar, a must with tortilla chips, ground seasoned beef, sour cream, lettuce, etc. Corn dogs Tatter tots chicken bites corn whole salad area with many options including full tasting dressings Desserts were above par, most amazing single serving cups of different concoctions such as oreo dessert, turtle dessert, cheese cake, cookies and brownies that are bakery quality. Drinks are included which also offer milk and coffee, I got both. You honestly cannot miss an opportunity to come here. read more

I was prepared to be disappointed but I was very pleased with the breakfast buffet at Great Karoo. Good value, spotless dining area, good selection. Frankly, the only restaurant at Kalahari that is not a ripoff. If the coffee was one notch better, this would be a fiver. The coffee is gas station quality - barely drinkable with enough sugar. My only criticism of an otherwise fine brunch. read more

Been to this buffet twice, once for dinner, a second for breakfast. Prices were reasonable for a buffer. Dinner price is roughly $23 and breakfast is 17 or 18. The dinner buffet was amazing but that was because of the AYCE prime rib that was available at the time, I kept coming back for more and developed a rapport with the gentlemen at the carving station, he definitely hooked me up with some nice medium rare pieces. The breakfast I would say was okay. We decided to go right before we checked out of Kalahari. There was a wait but they were able to process us through pretty quickly. Our server was right to the point, but got the job done. Honestly there wasn't anything amazing about the buffet itself. They had an omelet station and different types of eggs benedict and other staples of a breakfast buffet. The only gripe I had was that we wanted to go to the buffet on Friday night and they were closed. I'm not sure exactly why they'd be closed on a Friday night. Was it because they wanted to funnel traffic to the other restaurants? Didn't see any reason for that. All in all, a good experience, good food, would go again. read more

If you cannot find anything tasty to eat over dinner, I can have your head examined real good. The kids and I were staying for a four day mini-vacation and are enjoying the resort. My 11 year-old daughter loves steak. The steakhouse wanted a ton of money for one steak. Our first night was all-you-care-to-eat steak (they custom grill the steak for you) and kids are $9.99. Guess where we went? (She WOLFED DOWN five steaks)! My buffet was $24.95 which is average for Ann Arbor and the Indian casino in Battle Creek. I enjoyed two heaping plates of tasty food: prime rib (excellent), and the rest veggies and misc. stuff. All delicious. The creamy mac 'n cheese is particularly recommended. I found the creamed spinach a little bland. The fresh cut fruit was nicely done and presented. The peel-and-eat shrimp had a perfect mix of Old Bay seafood seasoning. That was good eats! I am diabetic so I cannot speak to the fabulous looking desserts but my kids wolfed down TWO PLATES of sweets. Damn! Probably earned me the title of "lousiest father of the year"! (Their mother is an anti-sugar Nazi)...and unsalted saltine crackers are big treats. Damn..[That is a HATER move...SMH] I just hope my kids don't grow up to be blood-thirsty killers or something... My only very small criticism is why roll up butter knives in the set-up roll when it's "steak" night? There were no dinner rolls nor butter for the dull butter knife. I had to practically tackle my server for a real steak knife! Everything in the resort is premium-priced (even a bowl of instant mac 'n cheese is $3.99 in the nearby gift store) so just embrace that the Great Recession is over. EAT and spend money! Kinda pricey, but that should be expected from a resort buffet. Was happy they had prime rib as a breakfast selection & the smoothies were decent as they weren't overly sweet. Still would recommend if you're staying at Kalahari for at least one morning if staying multiple days. read more

Worst buffet I have ever been to. I'll start off by saying all food was cold, only ham and chicken nuggets for meat selections, the desserts tasted like pure chemicals like bug spray! My husband and I paid $50 plus tip for inedible food and a wobbly 8 top table. The only good thing in the whole place was the Coke but then again you can barely mess up a coke. Waiter seemed unenthusiastic and said that we should have went elsewhere. Assumed we were with a convention of non tippers and treated us as such. We went based of reviews and now highly regret our decision. Overpriced, disgusting, and in need of a overhaul. read more

Excellent Buffett!! My family comes to Kalahari every year for an October weekend. The buffet has been completely redone since October 2014 and it is fantastic. There are many different stations and more options than you can count. There's also a carving station in the specialized omelette station. If you purchased the family vacation package You will get the $40 breakfast buffet voucher , which covers almost the entire cost of a breakfast buffet for the family of four. I love this buffet, it's been updated and they even have a kids buffet with such cool things to get little ones to eat. We have only had the breakfast buffet- for 2 about $36 not including tip, which you will need to do. Plenty of seating and some booths. read more

First off the buffet is a whole $18. The food wasn't even good. Everything that's supposed to be cold was warm and everything that's supposed to warm was cold. I don't think i wanted a warm smoothie and cold as ice eggs. The cups our drinks were in smelled like ass. Also i don't recommend the pineapple sauce because you would think it's all good and sweet but no it's spicy and tastes like dirty socks with jalapeños. Fantastic, fresh buffet. Food was delicious. Chefs were polite and knowledgeable. Staff was friendly and attentive. Busser named Brian was extremely friendly and polite. Only thing stopping me from giving this place 5 stars is the inappropriate way management chose to speak to Brian. Instead of asking him in a professional manner to bus tables she was loud in which she was barking commands and taunting him asking why his face was red and where is your attitude now? Nobody should speak to another person like that especially a manager speaking to a special needs employee... other than this situation one of the better buffets i have been to! read more

Breakfast was the best meal at Kalahari we had. For 2 adults and 1 child, we paid about $40 which averages about the same at a table service breakfast joint. There were so many delicious options to choose from including smoothies and an omelet station. There was also a cold bar with bagels and lox and other cold items. We showed up at 8:45 and there was already a long line but we were all seated quickly. By 9:30, there was a 20 min wait for a table. I will definitely be coming back for this next time we're here! read more

By the BEST breakfast buffet I've ever had period! I haven't been there for dinner so I cannot review that. However if you enjoy breakfast they WILL have something there for everyone! Came in to eat before our checkout and had 5 people. There was nothing available to eat. I was told they are making more so we waited. Some food came out and it was ice cold. I told the manager we maybe had a piece of bread if that. She took one meal off. Needless to say what a waist of time $90 with a tip. read more

We stayed at Kalahari 2 nights and had this place for breakfast both mornings. Amazing!! 2 kids and 2 adults and our bill was under $50 for a large assortment of food! They have a shorter station full of goodies just for kids, an omelet station, hot food station, carving station, fruit station with smoothies, doughnut and muffin station, and more!! We go every year and this is by far the best renovation Kalahari has done to date!! read more

The restaurant is very conveniently located in the main lobby. The servers were very friendly and we were seated very quickly. The only reason we chose a buffet is so that we could find food for the picky eaters in our group. However the food was bad. There was a lot of variety but lacked taste. Nothing on the menu was delicious. Everything was edible, that's about it. We paid 62 for adults and 2 kids. read more

Conveniently located in the Kalahari Waterpark and Convention Center, the buffet offers a fair variety of family friendly dishes. It was very clean and the staff were very friendly and attentive. The salad bar selection was a bit skimpy for dinner, but offered delicious grapes and pinapple. The chicken parmigian was decent, but really tasted like a TV dinner. Indeed much of the dinner menu seemed like mediocre frozen food. On the other hand the dessert selection was overwhelming. I highly recommend the chocolate cake. Expect to pay a premium for the convenience of being at the resort - as you would for any of the on site eating establishments. 3 adults, 2 kids, dinner on a Sunday night and breakfast on Monday... the food was amazing for a buffet. It had flavor, temperatures were maintained (especially for sensitive stomachs), the variety was extensive to include a kids buffet section tailored to them. I personally ate so much Monday morning that I didn't eat the rest of the day. I can see that there would be some times during the year that the amount of food is less than other times. We were there just this weekend (before Christmas). I do not normally like buffet food since it is out in the open. The bars were maintained by staff and the service was great. I didn't try the buffet 7-8 years ago when we went here. I regret it now. read more
