The place radiates friendliness and you truly feel like a regular when you walk in, warmly greeted right away and taken care of the entire duration of your meal. My family had returned after a long day of theme park food and I needed something lite - and their seasonal salad was just what I needed. It was a very generous portion with some of my the sweetest strawberries I've ever had with candied walnuts, feta cheese, and a delicious vinaigrette to go along with it. Skip the theme park dining when you can - or at the very least, supplement it with this delicious cuisine and friendly service.

For an appetizer, we ordered the wedge salad and the Buffalo Chicken dip. I got the perch dinner for my main course. The kid got a chicken sandwich and my wife got the brisket Mac n cheese. They said that the kitchen was backed up. Honestly, it was totally not an issue. We were just relaxing, watching the game and chilling after a 7 hour drive from NJ. What was an issue was...... appetizers came out exactly the and time as the main courses. WHY????????? It couldn't have taken that long to throw blue cheese, bacon and tomatoes on a chunk of lettuce and pump out the Buffalo Chicken dip and then worry about the main courses later. Now we have to decide, do we want to eat the entrees or even touch the appetizers. That alone always ruins everything. Food was very good. Like I said, people were very nice but you just can't bring everything out at once. Defeats the point of "starting" with something.

As a Pescetarian in Northeast Ohio I have meaning to try Jolly Roger Seafood House for a while,…read morewell I finally got there and the big question is why I waited so long. Jolly Roger is located in Port Clinton right on Lake Erie; I was expecting something ordinary or just a bit dated and boy was I wrong. The building is very modern and clean from the outside, white and angular with big windows. Inside white walls, rough hewn wooden tables and just the right amount of decor makes for a modern seaside feel, casual but also classy. The setup is fast casual, you order and pay up front at the counter, get a number for your table and then get your own drink at the service station. The menu is understandably very heavy on fish and seafood with a couple of other items. While there are the expected fried fish meals, but also oysters, shrimp and salmon, salads and even some tacos. The reason I came was of course for the fried fish, I decided on the Perch and Chips, which is $18. I grabbed some water, hot sauce and lemon and settled onto a table. The meal was brought out fresh and hot by a food runner in a couple of minutes. The meal was 4 nice sized perch fillets on top of a generous portion of fresh waffle fried potatoes with a side of tarter sauce. The fish were excellent, fresh and perfectly fried with a nice crispy cornmeal crust around the delicately fish; moist with a slight sweetness and perfect texture. The waffle fries were exceptional, fried to a crisp outside and tasty inside; usually fries at a seafood place are an afterthought, here they actually are well worth getting and eating. Even the tarter sauce was very nice, nothing special but creamy with a nice pickle contrast to add a little extra flavor. Usually when I see a place that has been around this long and has great reviews I am a bit let down when I give them a try; Jolly Rogers Seafood House exceeded my expectations in almost every way. Although set up as a fast casual restaurant with a typical fried seafood menu, the actual restaurant feels more upscale and modern with a great inside and a very nice patio looking out onto Lake Erie. The food is not cutting edge, but it is expertly prepared and delicious. Prices are moderate with large portions for your money. Some of the best fried perch and waffle fries I have had. I will be back any time I am in the area, a very high recommendation as long as you are looking for fish or seafood, go and enjoy.

I LOVE waffle fries, but they have to be hot. It was also nice to see they had a selection of beers. Food came out fast. I would not hesitate to return.

And those Malibu buckets. What a blast. I actually made it my mission to try every single flavor you had on offer, and they were all fantastic and so much fun. I loved the relaxed vibe of the whole setup. It's super convenient how you just pop over to the outside window to place your order, and then grab your delicious food right by the bar. But the absolute best part was kicking back at one of your outdoor tables, right by the lake. It's such a perfect, serene setting to just unwind and enjoy the beautiful views. Honestly, your entire team really made the visit special everyone was so incredibly friendly and welcoming, which just added to the wonderful experience.

Think snack bar at the roller rink or high school football game. Granted the menu is far from a snack bar and I do give them credit for aiming high with some pretty aspirational dishes. While other reviews suggest table service, that was not our experience. You ordered at the counter, given a pager, and fetched your food when the devices beeped incessantly. You buss your own table too. My wife ordered the lobster roll, which was rather competitively priced. Unfortunately, it was primarily filled with lettuce and tomatoes, with an OK amount lobster meat. She didn't care for the celery and green onion mixed in, not traditional lobster roll ingredients. I had the perch tacos, a first for me. Again, novel idea but lacking on execution. A few thin fish strips in each taco were more breading than fish. My wife couldn't have more than one sip of her cocktail and my IPA was warm. Anything waterside will have a natural appeal but the furniture and seating area is nothing more than a sidewalk. $61 for a serve yourself concession stand experience is more fitting for a stadium or sports arena.

Most were more like gastropubs. We desired something a little more upscale. We decided on Bay Harbor. We had no idea it was IN Cedar Point. I got mildly frustrated but a parking attendant assured us that we would be comped for the parking cost so I settled down some. We had reservations by the outside railing to view the sunset during dinner. The sunset is obscured by trees so that wasn't amazing but the weather was perfect so it wasn't too much of an issue. We're generally indecisive people when it comes to the food. It all sounded appetizing so my wife asked our server about her favorite dishes. Through that conversation and the discussions that followed, we got to know our server a little bit. We shared with her how we met (working together in a restaurant). Her husband also works at Bay Harbor. We shared stories about our spouses that were humorous and we got to know one another a little bit more. Cassie became very personable during these conversations and it really made our night a little more enjoyable! She was the sweetest server! The food was great! The Bang bang shrimp appetizer was delicious. I had a red snapper that was the special for the evening. It was very good. My wife wanted to try the lobster bisque. I understand why it's award winning! My bride of 27 years had the shrimp and scallop linguini. I tasted it. It was pretty tasty. But honestly, the best part of the whole experience was our fantastic service. Thank you, Cassie!!!

Our servers and trainee were polite, but the bar drinks and food were inexcusable for a pricey dinner service. Gordon Ramsay would've been screaming. 1) Everything took forever to come out. It was 2 hours from being seated to being served entrees. We had a large group (18), but the restaurant was not busy at the time we were eating, with only a handful of other tables occupied. Our servers claimed that the bartender and kitchen staff were both new, but I have no way to verify that. 2) My wife and I ordered the vegetarian dishes, which turned out to both be completely absurd. $40 for "Mushroom Risotto" that had either been cooked without any sauce whatsoever or thoroughly mummified under a heat lamp while the other dishes were being prepared. It was crispy! Risotto is, by every acceptable measure, not crispy. The veggie burger was somehow more depressing, but was edible - in the same way that Soylent is food. A pale, dry, flavorless rice patty, with lettuce and a slice of tomato, on a decidedly *not* Brioche bun. Just use an Impossible burger or Beyond burger, at least those are expensive enough to justify the cost of the dish! 3) My bar drinks, both Lemon Drops (as listed on the menu!) came in different styles of glasses and were very different pours. The 4 kids at our tables that ordered Shirley Temples received what could be charitably called "a variety of recipes" with some having cherries, some not, and immediately sparking arguments between them. Overall, the service could not save what turned out to be a disappointment for our entire extended family. Flee, and do not return.
