We just moved to the area to be with family and took my in-laws to Cracker Barrel because they had never been. While the host, manager, and store employees were very friendly, our server didn't seem that interested in doing her best job. The food was on the wrong side of mediocre. Biscuits were hard and seemed stale. Everyone else's food came out okay. Not great but not bad. However, my order was wrong. I ordered french toast and they brought me pancakes. When i told the server politely that i got the wrong order, she tried to argue with me and told me i ordered pancakes. Eventually when everyone else was finished eating I received my french toast only to find a giant hair in my food. Needless to say, we won't be back to this location. read more

If I could give this a 0 or negative score, I would. This was the worst tasting food I've ever had at a restaurant. I went over the weekend with my family excited to try Cracker Barrel again after years of not going. Multiple of us ordered steak, some ordered the chicken. The steak was the most unappetizing thing I've ever had in my mouth. Multiple thick, long tendons ran throughout my steak. It made it inedible. There was also a significant amount of cartilage in it as well. The others in my party that ordered steak also has tendons through it. The meat was so chewy but also felt microwaved. My husband ordered his to be medium rare, but he said it was straight up raw and could not finish it. Those in my party who ordered the chicken said it tasted like the deli fried chicken you get at kroger but reheated. Even the Mac n cheese was disappointing. The only things I liked were the fried shrimp my husband had and the chicken tenders. Unfortunately we will never be returning to any Cracker barrel. The days of Cracker Barrel being a go to place seem to be over. There was a time when we went at least once a week. After the pandemic, the service was terrible but they hid behind the excuse that it was just staffing problems. Tonight, we tried take-out again and again they screwed up our order. The email that confirmed the order said the food would be ready at 4:32. It was twenty minutes late. The order was for two vegetable plates. Why would the vegetables new an additional twenty minutes? When I got home, they left out the loaded bake potato. I looked at the receipt and each item but the potato was baked, so someone knew the order was incomplete. You cannot easily see this place from the main road. You should use GPS to make sure you hit your turn. Parking lot is huge with plenty of spots. The wait is usually 30 minutes regardless of when you come. It is still a struggle for restaurants to get enough staff. You can wait inside in the overcrowded store with people shuffling past you every minute. Or, you can wait outside and enjoy their rocking chairs. They have a texting system that let you know when your table is ready so waiting in your car is an option. I ordered the Country Boy Breakfast. I got hash brown casserole, grits, 3 eggs, biscuits and gravy, cinnamon apples, and steak. Everything was enjoyable. The steak is just a hunk of meat with no tenderness. The hostess was curious & quickly sat us at a table. That was the end of a good Cracker Barrel experience. After we got to the table we waited. And waited. And waited. And ... that's right .... Waited. Finally I asked what I thought was a manager - turns out just a "cook" - if we could get a server. We did get a server, 10 minutes later. We got our order in. Nothing to complicated. Just a steak & shrimp w/Mac & cheese & shrimp & grits. Feeling confident about the grits being in the south-no such luck. Inconsistency of food and service has become the norm for Cracker Barrel. First, getting basic items such as eating utensils was challenging. After getting seated, I placed my order and shortly got coffee and water without a straw. After several minutes, I received my food and had no silverware. After asking the severe, I finally received the bag holding the silverware and was missing a knife. I then had to stop another server to ask for knife which she quickly provided. I open it and the knife was extremely dirty. So I gave up on using a knife. My food was lukewarm and the pancakes were over overcooked, burned in some spots, and dry. This wasn't their day. My wife and I eat here occasionally and the service is usually sub par. The host acted as if the place was running 100% occupancy, instead it was about 30%. The only time our server made eye contact or responded to our request was during her intro. Food was shy of warm and it took fifty minutes. There was a major and noticeable shift from weekend to weekday staff. Oh but I have to mention, the server next to our table showed great service and kind interactions to all her guest. Giving this one star because I can't review without a star. My husband and I went there for lunch May 9, 2023, at around 11:15, for lunch. We were seated at dirty table, and the whole restaurant looked dirty. We were only given breakfast menus. We tried to get the attention of one of the wait staff, who all ignored us. People who came in after us had orders taken and got served. After 20 minutes, since no one had taken our orders, we left. We've been eating at Cracker Barrel's for years, even during both our cancer treatments. We always felt comforted there. Cracker Barrel has built an empire on recreating a country store in the front and having a restaurant offering southern homestyle staples to hungry travelers. My biggest issue is that you can get far better southern homestyle favorites in local mom and pop places. I would say that in my opinion, I prefer breakfast over the other meals here and my go to is usually their eggs and country fried steak. I go with home fries and toast (my northern upbringing is showing, I realize). I do enjoy wandering through the country store and have purchased things here and there, but some of the items can be overpriced. Service is usually friendly enough. Again, I think you can find better with asking a local mom and pop restaurant, but Cracker Barrel does offer convenience and you will usually get a consistent meal. If this is what you are seeking, head on over. Again, not the worse meal, but I usually try to seek out better. read more

We finally got led to our seats and they seated us in a 3/4 empty section. Literally only 4 tables had people sitting at them. Waitress came and got our drink orders. We ordered an appetizer with our drinks because our kids were very hungry from traveling all day. We never got bread, and our appetizer showed up 40 minutes later. 15 minutes later our food finally showed up. The waitress had to go back to kitchen at least three times to get things that were still missing from our meals. Each trip took about 2 minutes. My husband ordered the steak sampler but the waitress rang it up wrong as just a steak, even though she repeated our order back to us when she took our order. The children's chicken strips were way over cooked. The dumplings were mushy, the max n cheese was bland. We told the waitress we were ready for our check but after 10 minutes we went to the register without to checkout and leave. The "host" never even looked us in the face and appeared as if it were too much effort to even speak. He took our order and brought some of it to us, we had to request what he forgot, but that's where it appeared his job ended. 4. I had fried catfish. It was hot at least. There was one item on the plate, the fish. I had to bring it to the server's attention that hush puppies were supposed to be included. He blamed the kitchen. 5. They were out of tater sauce. 6. We were served unsweetened tea as refills for our order of sweet tea. 7. The tea was warm and melted the ice. I asked for ice twice. Never got it. 8. Sat there for a good 10 min waiting for the check without even being acknowledged. They were not that busy. 9. And finally, I love the Cracker Barrel. Every holiday I look forward to the shopping more than the food. Seriously. Right now, It's 9 days before Christmas, and hardly any Christmas merchandise to speak of. WHAAAAT?? 10. The guy at the checkout register tried to pull my coat from me. He said he thought it was theirs and I wanted to buy it. Again.... WHAAAT?? 11. My niece and I ordered wild blueberry pancakes, the only ones on the menu. We received regular pancakes and a strange explanation. Next we also asked for hashbrowns and cheese grits which didn't come and when they did we received what you see on the picture. Next her hashbrowns came out as a casserole. The confusion continued and all in the interim of us trying to get fed and run an errand before my departure. What we ended up with was a regular pancake with some berries thrown in cold sausage and luke warm eggs. Definitely being kind with 2 stars. The manager that we were told was coming never seemed to make it to our table. Twice in the last year, I've been to this Cracker Barrel and waited 8-10 minutes with no waitress walking by. Both times, we've seen other people that came in after us get their orders taken. The first time, I wrote it off as lack of staff, but this time there was plenty of staff. I just don't understand. I even told the hostess why we were leaving and she apologized. That was at 245 pm with no line and hardly anyone in there. The waiter never came to refill our drinks and we waited well over an hour for the food to come out.
