    Campfire Beef
    Santanu S.

Unlike their other entrees, which are made to order, the Campfire meals are premade. When I ordered the Campfire Beef, my waiter informed me that it was recently out but assured me it should be available by now. If not, it should take about 5 minutes. The taste of these dishes would depend on how long the ingredients had been simmering in the broth before being served. Mine must have been premade because my Pink Lemonade Spritz took longer than the Campfire Beef. The entree was served in a sealed foil packet. None of the items required a knife; only a fork. The beef was incredibly tender. However, since the corn cob was covered in the broth, I used a knife to cut the kernels off the cob. Otherwise, my hands would be soiled. For dessert, I ordered the S'mores Brownie Skillet. Graham cracker fans will love it, but it was difficult to take a bite without the graham cracker crumbs. Once every few bites, I needed a drink of water. Unfortunately, it was not until posting this review that I discovered my waiter failed to serve either the biscuits or the cornbread with my meal. Because I dine here for breakfast, I do not recall when I last had either.

I hate not to give a good review as the waiter was amazing. But the food was below average all the way Chicken Fried Steak was a frozen premade patty that was salty and taste horrible, gravy was cold and lumpy and grits Sat in a bowl of congealed grease. Scrambled eggs came out as a thin flat overcooked no flavor yuck. Waiter was great and did take off the horrible CFS Biscuit was good and stuffed pancake had all the right flavors. Coffee and ice tea yummy. We love Cracker Barrel but I guess you need to know what to order and scrambled eggs, grits and CFS is not it.

Early bird $9.99 meal fried chicken 2 sides, (apples not shown)

(I tried writing this in an old-timey style, HA!) For many a year, I have longed to cross the threshold of this fine and curious eatery, drawn by whispers of its old-fashioned charm and hearty fare. At last, the day arrived! The hour was four in the afternoon, the hearth was ablaze with a most picturesque and comforting fire, and the establishment, though not bustling, exuded a warmth that beckoned weary travelers such as ourselves. I partook in the Early Bird Supper, a most economical offering with portions more befitting the sensible appetite. Indeed, we Americans are oft too indulgent in our repasts! My selection was the fried chicken cutlet, accompanied by the renowned hashbrown casserole (a delicacy of great repute) and the fried apples, which lent a pleasing sweetness to the plate. My dear husband, ever the intrepid gourmand, selected the pot roast shepherd's pie, a dish of great richness, boasting an astonishing 1,300 calories! Good heavens! The meal was further enhanced by the arrival of biscuits and cornbread, thoughtfully suggested by our most delightful and capable server, Miss Yessica. Many a critic lamented poor service at this establishment, yet I declare we found no such fault. She was swift, kind, and ever-ready with a refill of our drinking vessels. Upon her apron, she bore four stars, a ranking of mysterious origin, yet surely indicative of her excellence. In summation, dear reader, if thou seeketh a repast both hearty and homely, served amidst the glow of a roaring fire, look no further. This humble house of victuals doth satisfy the soul, and I shall most assuredly return anon!

I used to prefer other breakfast eateries because of the wait and having to mingle with throngs of people in the Country Store until a table was free. We went shortly before the flap about the CEO who wanted to blah the logo and do a woke rework. There wasn't a crowd like the old days, and fortunately the meals were tasty. It was a good experience at this Grapevine location, but this chain needs to get back to the basics that made them popular before they go belly up. Especially need to regain a friendly and responsive wait staff. Good traditional breakfast plates.

It was Sunday and thank goodness, I did "Join the waitlist" because it was BUSY at 12:30pm. It took awhile for the Hostess to find my name on the tablet after I showed her the confirmation on my phone. The wait was less than 5 minutes. Once seated, it took some time before our server came. Like I said, they were busy. Food was good. Service could use some help when it's busy. It's definitely come back.

Every now and then I get a craving for crispy edge Cracker Barrel pancakes and crispy fatty bacon. Today the pancakes could have been cooked a little longer but my craving was satisfied.

Wait time was about 30 minutes on a Sunday afternoon, but they got us in quicker than 30. The tables and floors were clean and just as other Cracker Barrels, it was decorated very nostalgic. The food was really good! I ordered the grilled chicken tenders. Gratefuly, they were not dry, seasoned well, tender enough to cut with a fork, and the serving size was good. The green beans and mashed potatoes were also seasoned well and very flavorful. The biscuits were warm and tasted fresh. Unfortunately, neither the girl taking names, our server, or the server at the next table ever cracked a smile, no human connection whatsoever. Their long faces didn't ruin our meal, but it set the tone for our time spent there.

Pros: clean store and the kids love looking at all the toys upon entry. They always have good deals on stuff and I always forget to shop there. Food is priced well and overall atmosphere of restaurant is homelike. Hash brown casserole and bread always hits the spot. Cons: On this experience the customer service was lacking. We had to flag down servers because our server kept disappearing. Steak was super well done almost Jerky texture so we sent that back and it took 20+ minutes for a med-rear steak. Waiter comped the meal for that mistake. Someone needs to check on the well being of the servers they seemed overworked or under staffed on a not so busy night. I don't always have this type of experience so I'll be back again but not too soon.

Because the weather was cooperative, the windows of the enclosed patio and the bar were opened. Diners were able to sit at the bar in the patio area. The bar was initially staffed by a single bartender. Not only did she introduce herself, she also asked for my name. As I needed a menu, she asked the host for a stack for myself and other diners. A second employee, not as friendly, arrived sometime later to assist setting up the bar. There were some minor inconveniences arriving this early. Because I was the first to require a refill, the bartender had to get a coffee pot from the kitchen. Afterwards, she kept the pot at the bar. I decided on the Breakfast Egg Rolls. Not sure how something tagged "new" can be a house specialty. The breakfast jam lacked flavor. The egg rolls were saved due to the taste of the fried wontons. Of the two sauces, the maple syrup was better than the spicy hollandaise. The hollandaise lacked both heat and spiciness. When I was served coffee, I was not provided either cream nor sweeteners. As I did not notice any nearby, rather than wait to have the her return to the kitchen, I decided to give it a sip. Surprisingly, the coffee tasted great. It was neither acidic nor had a bitter aftertaste.

We got the tro, with mozzarella sticks, pretzel bites, and Asian roll! Nothing was hot just like they picked it out of a heat lamp buffet! Applebees probably could've done better especially for the price point! My ice tea was gross and asked for a water instead... then when it came to the bill I had to go through an act of congress just to get the charge removed! This place used to be great... I don't know what happened! I haven't even mentioned the service which was beyond pathetic!

A few different table options and it looked like they had patio out back. Friendly staff. Quick service. Large portions but expect that with prices. Menu with lots of options. They even have specials - todays was huevos rancheros and poblano steak and eggs. We enjoyed Bacado omelet (3 egg, bacon, spinach, tomato, avocado) with hash browns and a biscuit. The salsa is good and medium spice level. The BLTAM was also enjoyed with a side of fruit (choice of side is fruit, fries, okra, soup or salad). We got without mayo and ordered a side of ranch which I'll typically put a little on sandwich. The ranch dressing was not good - couldn't eat it. Luckily the sandwich had enough moisture from the delicious tomatoes, avocado & bacon. The sourdough bread was good. We'd definitely go back to try more of their food.

Not to say this place doesn't have a long wait, but i guess we were lucky. We got the last seat, and i believe the group that came after us, had to wait for like 15 mins or so. Anyways, we ended up getting two entrees. one benedict and one meat lovers omelette. The omelette dish also comes with your choice of pancakes or toast. i believe for most of the breakfast dishes, you get to pick hashbrowns or grits. since we got two dishes, we one one of each. Both dishes were good. But then again, most brunch places serve pretty much the same items and not a lot of differentiating factors between one and the other. Service was excellent! came by ever so often to check in but it didn't feel intrusive.
