If Cracker Barrel is your vibe, you should def come visit this location. Not sure that they all have a little store attached to it but I was happy they did. My friend is a huge fan so we stopped in and they described it to me as a better version of iHop & I agree. They have more options, you get complimentary biscuits (you have to ask for, GET THE APPLE BUTTER). Drinks are refillable. They had a cozy fireplace that the workers were constantly adding logs to. I love Cracker Barrel but cannot recommend this one. The food overall was so-so, like perhaps not as fresh as it should be and usually is at other CB. The ham was extremely salty, like off the rails salty. The hash brown casserole was not as good as usual and the eggs were not right off the griddle but perhaps sat for a while. This CB felt dingy as we went to our table which again felt like it needed a good cleaning. The staff was nice and the biscuits were excellent! read more

This was the BEST Cracker Barrel meal I have ever had! No joke, I love breakfast and have eaten at many Cracker Barrels, usually settling for slightly above average pancakes or French toast. This evening we had a waitress that was incredibly fast and polite, knew the menu, and brought our drinks out right away. Then I had the greatest pancakes ever! To add to this surprise, the eggs were cooked perfectly, all of the meats were just right, and the breakfast casserole had no over baked hard pieces. Lastly, the corn bread muffins and the biscuits were perfectly baked. Whoever was in the kitchen on Thursday July 24 on the evening shift needs a bonus. I never write reviews but this was good. The store was is full of merchandise to buy. In fact, I wanted to buy just about everything! From snacks and candy back in the day to holiday decorations, there was a lot to choose. I purchased 2 candles. The Creme Brûlée candle was $19.99 for 18oz and Clothesline Linen was $22.99 for 12.5 oz. I thought both gave off strong scents when burned however Clotheslines Linen was very strong. read more

It started pouring down rain on the interstate during our travel from North Carolina to New Jersey. We decided some comfort food in the rainy weather sounded good for dinner. We were told there is a 20-25 minute wait for a table. So my husband got gas while I browsed the unique items. I swear, this must be a planned ploy by Cracker Barrel to make you wait for a table so that you have to browse the store before you eat. I ended up buying a cute Christmas ornament of a cardinal sitting in a snow globe for $7. It is AUGUST but they had items already out for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Um, and I fell for it. Lol My husband got the chicken pot pie. It was really good and had good flavor. At first, I thought there was no way he was going to finish it, it looked so huge. However, it was shallow and he easily finished it. I almost got biscuits and gravy since they serve breakfast all day. However, the waitress said the gravy only has sausage FLAVOR, not actual sausage. I'm particular about my sausage gravy, so I skipped to something else. I got the chicken and dumplings with corn and green beans as a side. There were large chunks of chicken and the chicken gravy worked well with the dumplings. Comfort food at its finest. The beans had good flavor, and the corn was large kernels and sweet. Their biscuits are really yummy. Very fluffy and served with packets of butter to slather on them. I recommend doing that and asking for their strawberry or BlackBerry jam to add on top. You have to ask for the jam packets, they don't mention them to you otherwise. Our waitress Samantha was very nice. I tried their huckleberry tea. I highly recommend it if you want to stray from a traditional soda drink. You even get a free refill. She accidentally brought a peach tea as my refill, so happily I got to try both. This place is constantly good and doesn't break the bank. Our 2 meals with a lemonade and tea was about $25. Reasonably priced and a lot of food for the hardy appetites. We never go wrong stopping at a Cracker Barrel. Always get the grits, okra and turnip greens and they have never left me down. Good all day breakfast choices and always love the catfish. Seating is nicely spread to allow for private conversations. Servers were polite and very attentive to our needs. After meal walk through the country store and purchasing that special item is always an additional plus. Cracker Barrels are also known for their large parking lots which is always good for travelers. Must give the highest rating for a staple dining experience. read more

Food was good! Service was average, the server forgot to bring us ketchup but mistakes happen. Something that was a little more bothersome to me though was the waitress said I could not substitute the biscuits and gravy for anything else. I am gluten free and it's hard enough not being able to eat that, but on top of it not to be allowed a substitution. Maybe there is a good reason, but if not I hope they change this rule for future customers with food allergies. [2.50 Stars] It has been over fifteen years since I last visited any Cracker Barrel, but our route back to New Jersey from North Carolina made the Chambersburg location a convenient lunchtime stop. We arrived at noon on a Tuesday and waited about twenty minutes for a table. The pain of waiting in a Cracker Barrel is always mitigated by a leisurely review of their emporium of mildly interesting retail items. We were served by Emily O. who was polite and competent. The menu at Cracker Barrel, one of familiar comfort-style food, has changed little since my last visit. Ms. G. selected a grilled chicken breast, and my choice was the meatloaf daily special with coleslaw and mashed potatoes and gravy. It would be out-of-character to find a Cracker Barrel entree that might be fairly described as "exceptional;" again, familiarity is their strong suit. Went Cracker Barrel yesterday after taking my 87 year old mother to the doctor. I ordered everything as a Togo order. I was told 15-20 minute wait. I waited in the car with my mother for fifteen minutes then went inside to wait on the food . At the 20 minute point I check the status of the food with the receptionist.I was told the food would be right out. At the 35 minute mark they found the food sitting at the register. So our special treat for my 87 and 89 year old parents was cold Cracker Barrel food. read more

My family and I are on a road trip but returning back home to MA. We were driving on I81 north and decided that we wanted to stop for dinner in Chambersburg, PA. We were greeted with great service by the hostess and we had an awesome waiter named Tony. I can't remember the hostesses name but she was great too. Tony was on top of his game and very friendly. I like Cracker Barrel because it's completely consistent. Same menu, same location (right next to the Interstate), same decorations, same tables and chairs. Easy. On an early weekday, I was the only person in the restaurant for about an hour and I sat with my laptop and hotspot while I ate breakfast and wrote Yelp reviews. No worries and my waitress kept my coffee cup filled. I always get the Uncle Hershel's breakfast with a pork chop. I find the bacon and sausage to be too salty or too burpy. The pork chop is usually a good option though today's was very dry. Poached eggs (basted) were great, biscuit was great, hashbrown casserole was only okay as it was heavy with onions this morning. I generally skip the grits (very wet today) and the gravy. Again, service was great. read more

Very rude staff. We were a party of 4 adults and 2 children. Told to go right back to the dining room, said there was room for us. Then told a 20 minute wait. Although we never asked to speak to a manager, and were just standing there watching them continue to see parties of 2 and 4 ahead of us, 25 minutes later Stephanie Penwell came out and began telling us how they could not make people leave. Argued with us when we told her we watched a party of 5 with one child leave. All the while we were waiting they took back parties of two, parties of four with no wait at all. They just didn't accommodate us. They kept saying they had to wait for a bigger table. A typical busy Sunday after church at CB- there was a 25-minute wait before getting a table. We had our 91 year old mother with us so 25 minutes was hard for her to stand around- so the staff accommodated getting a chair. However, there seemed to a certain customer group who was hovering over the chair just incase My mother decided to stand up. Anyway, the person announcing whose table was ready, had a nice loud voice which was appreciated in such a busy space. Im not sure who the waitress was since we seemed to have a couple that would wander around our table to make sure things were alright or they were close enough to get someone's attention. WE ordered from one lady ( and again I'm sure they were understaffed and it was very busy ). Another lady brought us the 3 dinners. Im not sure if her arms were too short or what, but the tray was practically under my chin ( im glad i didn't have a nose drip issue ). I had to scoot myself back because she obviously the food deliverer didn't take into account that people had heads. The order: Fish ( tasty), carrots and mashed potatoes were hot. The cornbread and biscuits were good/ warm. We did have to call over to a 3rd lady to ask for jelly, meanwhile a 4th lady came over ( basically didn't stop ) just tossed the jelly on the table ( 2 of them.. but there are 3 customers ). Cracker Barrel used to be my most favorite place to eat I always get breakfast. I was so upset about my food.... I asked for Sprite.... and it didn't taste like it.... I asked for tea, which after about 10 minutes I had to ask another waiter to get my waitress only for her to come and tell me the tea is still brewing. I had grandma's sampler, I asked for extra bacon, no sausage. Got extra ham. I asked for grits and American cheese... grits had a green bean it and no cheese. I asked for my eggs over medium no whites cooked well.... 1 was good the other slimy all the way to the yoke.... annnnnd my pancakes were hard Needless to say my food was free.... but the last 2 Cracker Barrel's I went to sucked.... I have eaten at Cracker Barrel from Pennsylvania to Colorado. Cracker Barrel is usually very consistent. Yesterday I ate at the Cracker Barrel in Chambersburg... so disappointing! They need a new cook! Food was warm not hot, ham was dried out & hard as if it had been on the griddle for hours. The apples were not hot... the hash brown casserole was not fresh and was dry. Scrambled eggs were not cooked. Think before spending your hard earned money at this location. If I would have had the time... would have requested my entire breakfast be re-cooked & presented again! Let me start by saying I love Cracker Barrel, I've never had a bad experience or meal....until today. I placed an order to go which took a long time and no one called me when the order was delivered. I was checking periodically for my order and saw a to go order sitting on the rack and asked if it was mine, it was. I ordered the 4 pc fried chicken thinking leftovers; by time I peeled off the burnt fried batter there was no eatable meat on the wing or leg very little on the thigh, only the breast had an ample amount of meat and it did not taste good. The boiled cabbage was great as was the biscuit. This will not keep me from returning but I will be checking the order b4 I leave. read more

Worst customer service ever! Went with my husband, toddler, mother and 8 year old nephew. We were seated right before a bus of senior citizens arrived. It was dinner time and with a toddler that means we need to be in and out. We waited at least 10-15 min. We weren't even acknowledged and the bus full of seniors was served immediately before us even though we were there first and only a small party. We got up and left. Definitely senior friendly, but not kid friendly. read more
