He cancelled the night before my (booked and paid for) move and has not refunded the more than $700 I paid for 4 movers and truck services. And then he tried to manipulate more $$ out of me to book another day. And then he tried to get me to put my credit card down to book a U-Haul and hand him the keys when I demanded he either refund me or show up on the day I booked. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. NOR USE HIRE-A-HELPER. 1. This company was late. 2. This company forgot their tools to which they said they would bring when they texted at almost 11pm at night. 3. We paid for 2 workers to which one showed up late (who is the owner) and the other showed up 30 minutes after the first guy. 4. They were so slow I had to help move items. Mind you this was a 2 hour job that was paid for for a 1 bedroom move. Not a 1 bedroom house. Just a room rented in an apt. 5. THE SECOND WORKER BROUGHT HIS PUPPY AND BEAT THE PUPPY IN FRONT OF US. You read that right. He was told to leave by me. I WAS LIVID. The owner said he would fire this individual. If a guy named a Jose shows up with a puppy you know he didn't get fired. So we are now 2 hours into this one bed move and the items needed for the move are not even completely loaded into the truck. I was told by the owner we would not have to pay for anything over the 2 hours paid for and that we would be reimbursed the $120 for the rental truck we had to pay for. It took 4.5 hours to move a one-bed rented room 3.4 miles away. We have not seen a refund at all for the rented truck. Tried contacting hire-a-helper who is the third party to hiring movers and they said the owner is calling us liars. WHAT DO WE HAVE TO GAIN FROM THIS???? There was animal abuse and a very bad display of ownership. We really got the "what do you want me to do about it" kind of treatment from both Cozy Bear and Hire-A-Helper. Our move experience - On short notice I was able to schedule Mike and another (sorry but I have forgotten his name) to move mom to her new her new Assisted Living (Memory care) facility in mid-Dec 2022 and was thrilled at the excellent job they did. I prepped the pickup location and items that needed boxing to help them and speed things along, but I couldn't be there on moving day and also asked to ask them to make two stops at the delivery end to separate her belongings between her new smaller facility room and my home garage. Mike said "No sweat! Can do." and it all worked out perfectly and without a hitch. Mike and his helper were super nice to my mom who was at the new room, and they made no complaints about having to deal with the constraints of bringing many items into the Memory Care facility (which is basically in safety lockdown 24/7). - No delays or excuses (They called the day before and on moving day to keep me updated on their timing). - Plenty of communication prior-to and day-of so I didn't feel left behind or questioning what the deal was. - Polite, super friendly, clean and careful with the items/furniture they moved. - Willing to work with me on this special drop-off situation. - Plenty happy having me tell them where to locate items in her room at drop-off. Moving is stressful. Mike and Andy make it considerably less so. I wish there were more stars to give because these guys go above and beyond. I lived in San Diego for 15 or so years and have hired Mike and Andy a total of 3 times. They are always very communicative, super efficient and are able to pack trucks/PODs like nobody's business. All of our stuff made it on and off the trucks without any damage since they blanket and saran wrap tables/desks/other furniture. They were even highly praised by the POD truck driver, saying Mike and Andy were easily the best movers in San Diego they have seen. They're straight up superheroes. read more

Tried to book these guys, but after about 20 text messages saying he was busy, but would get back in touch with me in a few hours. this went on for days. he was always in transit. always said he would call me in a couple of hours. He never did. A week went by and I tried to finalize payment, which i wanted to do a week ago. He text me and said his "assistant" just booked the date I have wanted all along and was unavailable. Then gave me a phone number to their "brother" company. after calling the "brother" company they said they are not brothers or sisters at all. the other company was profesional, and came out the very next day! Two stars only because when they did show up they were efficient and got the job done. However, for just about every single 1-star review provided, my experience was almost exactly the same. It makes hard to believe the validity of the 5-star reviews. We needed to move our furniture into a pod for construction and back after completion. As mentioned by others, full payment is required at time of reservation. In our situation, that was also true, but we were also charged again after the move into the pod (2 charges for the same job). When we made the reservation to move back, again full charge. Next problem, about to occur. The pod was scheduled for pickup on a Friday. Move back scheduled for the Thursday before. All of these details clearly articulated. Late Wednesday, received communication that they would not be able to make Thursday because they were stuck in WA. But, not to worry, they'd be there early Friday. We tried to postpone pod pickup but no luck there either, only that they'd move our pick up to noon. Called Michael to relay urgency for very early start time. Again assured no problem. Friday morning, the day of pod pick up and early move. Early morning text from Michael requesting address again. Next text from him with a delay notification. Followed by a later text of sorry, hate to do this but my brother's ill and I'm flying to TX. Here's a link for movers who can help. WHAT?!? So for us...time to scramble and spend twice as much as what we already spent. Which leads to the next seriously troubling aspect of this business (actually almost made this a 1-star review). I requested a refund immediately. I was told yes, that was done but it would take 5-7 days before it hit my account. Okay. Upon review of charges, I realized the previous double charge. I brought this to Michael's attention. He texted he'd follow up. The following week I checked in. He assured that he had confirmed my findings. And, yes, our money would be returned. I continued to follow up after a week without return of funds. Then 2 weeks. Michael advised that I contact my bank and have my bank/credit card company take care of it. That that process would work better for a quicker return of funds. WHAT?!? I said to him, do you realize what horrible business practice you are suggesting. He said that's how you'll get your money back. I've contacted my bank. They're doing the research. Weeks later, I'm still out close to $600. (Not counting the hundreds in extra funds for an emergency last minute move.) I'm expecting some sort of weak reply/excuse from Michael. That also seems to be his pattern for poor reviews. Mike and Andy were extremely professional and made my move easy. I had kind of an odd request that meant more work for them but saved me a lot of money since I did not feel comfortable with leaving a U-Pack box out in my parking lot overnight with all my stuff. Mike easily accommodated and provided clear communication throughout the process. I had about 65 large boxes packed up in my living room ready to bring out to my rental truck on moving day. Mike and Andy moved the boxes out to the truck, carefully and tightly packed the truck, met me at the ABF U-Pack facility, unpacked the truck, and packed the U-Pack container for me. So, very little work on my end. Lots of hard work on their end. I had a lot of heavy stuff and they were just ripping through the pile and perfectly re-packing my stuff. ALL of my stuff made it to my destination without damage. I did pack my stuff carefully inside the boxes, but they carefully moved and handled the boxes and positioned them in a way that nothing moved or collapsed in the container. They packed it so tight that I was able to save $800 by not having to use another container. I should have taken a pic of everything packed in, but my stuff was 100% filling the container, top to bottom. TL;DR; Unprofessional == DO NOT HIRE. They first were supposed to be 30 minutes late because of a family breakfast at 8am --odd, but understandable--, which then transformed into a text message asking for 45 minutes to 1 hour delay instead --at this point it became very unprofessional-- and then transformed into a --what I still believe was a fake-- "family emergency" and then I never heard from them, ever. I attached pictures of the text messages. Context: I rented a U-Haul truck from the website, right at the end it asked me if I wanted moving help, which I did and it is totally worth paying, I picked "Cozy Bear Moving", the one with highest stars and not as expensive as the others (as I usually do with everything). Prices: 2 men, 2 hours = $100 dollars and $45/extra-hour, I was expecting 4 hours = $200 dollars. ----------- Story in order: ----------- *** Pros: 1. I got a call from the "team leader" Michael Robinson (from his personal phone number: 619-431-6686) the same day I hired their services. This call was merely introductory --good so far--. 2. I got an email (from cozybearmoving@gmail.com) a few days after the call with 10 questions regarding information about the the stuff that they were going to load/unload, the basics --still, good so far--. *** The rest are Cons: 3. Almost a month after (1 day before the moving day) I had to call him to confirm that they didn't forget about the moving day. Important Note: As the number is his personal cellphone, he always answered immediately (both calls and messages). 4. In the call he told me he was going to be late 30 minutes, it was perfect for me because I had to pick the U-Haul truck at 9 sharp and it would probably take me half an hour (which it took little less than 30 minutes to be back to my apartment) and I didn't want them to be waiting for me without having nothing to do. Note that they charge extra if you want them to help packing or driving the truck, etc. which doesn't say in U-Haul website when you are hiring the service. ----------- The next steps you can see the short version in the images of the text messages. ----------- 5. Next day, it was 9:08am and I got a text message from him asking me if he may arrive around 9:45 or 10am. I didn't see this message until it was too late like 25 minutes after, but he didn't even think on giving me a call after I didn't reply to him in a while --I wonder if he was thinking that I agreed to that because of my silence--. 6. I answered the text saying that we had management give us control of the elevator until 12. Only 2 hours if they arrived at 10am, which at this point --I assumed-- they weren't going to. 7. After he didn't reply, I decided to text him again saying that it was not what we agreed and that I was sorry but I couldn't allow him to arrive at 10. 8. Then after like 8 minutes which felt like 20, he replied saying that he was "so sorry" but there was a "family situation emergency" and he wasn't going to make it and to cancel everything online and that I could hire someone else but they were going to arrive in the afternoon or so --to this, I tell you: low blow Michael, low blow...--. 9. Then I decided to give him a call, I wasn't mad, I honestly was disappointed and wanted to see if you could recommend someone that would charge the same amount and could give me their number as I didn't have time to go online --which I had cancel the internet service the day before, so I couldn't do anyway--. 10. Finally, I texted him stating my intentions of the previous --unanswered-- calls and that I was going to rate his services poorly (and I'm a man of my word). But even so, if the "family emergency" was real, that I was sorry and I hoped everything got better. I was also expecting a reply or maybe a next-day call or text message explaining wth --to be honest, if he would've done that, I wouldn't be writing this review--. ----------- What is next is not really important to the review. ----------- Long story short, my wife and I had to load everything into the truck, ended up asking management for unlimited use of the elevator (both management and neighbors are very cool at Form15 so they didn't mind), took us around 4 hours just to load, then we had to look for some help to unload and ended up paying the $200 just to unload (which was worth it) to a guy and his nephew that had just finished up they work day at a Home Depot --to those guys, I bow and give them 100% of my respects--. read more

So unfortunately, I have to update my review after we completed the first leg of our trip from San Diego to Phoenix. Our belongings were not packed correctly in the uhaul trailer - heaviest items needed to be packed first, then lighter items last. My fiancé and I were a bit concerned when we noticed all the larger (lighter) boxes were getting loaded first before the smaller (heavier) ones, but they were moving so fast and we didn't think to tell them since we trusted that they knew what they were doing. It was shortly after we started our trip that we noticed how much the trailer was swaying back and forth even when going the trailer speed limit of 55mph. It made our trip to Arizona very difficult and took us way longer than it should have (almost 8 hours of travel time). By the time we got to my parents, we were exhausted. We knew we couldn't finish the rest of our trip to Colorado (13 hours) with the trailer like this, so my dad helped us unload almost everything and repacked it. After we were on the road again, we noticed a difference immediately. We were able to drive much more smoothly and faster. Again, Michael and his team were super nice and really tried to get everything done quickly, but we would've much preferred if it was just packed correctly to begin with. read more
