Walked inside, past security, everything was well, used the restroom. immediately a bartender with brown hair shouted at me and my friend to get drinks and then charged us for drinks we didn't get, then she reached in my purse and said I couldn't have my drink in my purse and threw my drink away that I had I had a box in my purse, and she took it upon herself to not ask me to leave or throw it away, but she just snatched it out of my purse and threw it away very aggressively. It was very disturbing because we came in there with the intentions that we'd have a good times spend money get drinks, but she was very aggressive and wasn't a very nice young lady. When we got our drinks, she charged us and I honestly just didn't even drink my drink because she killed my vibe reaching into my purse, touching my belongings. She lacked communication skills and wasn't a very good bartender girl, if she was, she would communicate that I could've left or thrown away the drink simply instead of reaching into somebody's purse that is coming into their establishment to spend money and buy drinks. Overall, I'm very disappointed because it seems like it could've been a great time, but this girl ruined it. What an amazing and remarkable show did this young lady put for us. We were there from 2 to 5pm. There was a small crowd, and she worked it! She was bartender, bar-back, hype-person, singer, entertainer, souvenir shop person, and somehow she managed to make sure no one had an empty drink. We walked out of there with a bar-tab just over $100 and drinks are very reasonable. She was a one-woman show and somehow she managed to make sure everyone was having a good and memorable time. 4 stars because the margaritas were a little too sweet. I was in San Antonio for 5 nights, and I was at Coyote Ugly for 5 nights. I didn't plan it that way but my colleagues and I were having too much fun. The bartenders put on an amazing show. Plus they have the right attitude: friendly, flirty, but they don't put up with BS. If you have the right attitude going in and realize that you are in their world, the ladies will make sure you have a blast. The security staff is good at communicating and not overbearing at all, which is impressive. My coworkers and I were in town and decided to check out Coyote Ugly for the entertainment factor. To say that we were severely disappointed was an understatement. This place has so much potential to be fun, professional, classy and entertaining. None of those words fit our experience. The words that came out of all of our mouths were 'trashy' and 'gross'. From the establishment itself, to the drinks and the women dancing. I've seen better dancing and somersaults out of a five year old. The bartenders were too busy mc'ing on the mic to take care of customers and the liquor selection was subpar. We did go on a Tuesday night so maybe the weekends are better? I made a comment on one of the dancers because she looks like she is drunk dancing or maybe extremely tired dancing. The person that represents this the page started coming at me extremely unprofessional and seems very immature like I felt like a kid was commenting and representing this business. To me that looks very bad for this business. We were really looking forward to checking this bar out finally and the tacos. Went we friends and family for a post grad celebration and we had a lot of fun. We also spent a lot of money. The issue was when they closed and everyone was leaving; my hubby, bro and friend were the only ones left behind because our Uber was coming from a far distance. The security, whom I don't know his name went to my friend and was asking her if she knows some girl that was in a floral dress and she told him no. Whilst still waiting for our Uber my friend and bro went in search of a restroom since they were unwilling to let her back in to use the one in the club. That's when the same security came up to me and my husband and started demanding that we pay for what he claims was a broken door that either myself was or my friend in the "yellow dress" broke. My husband is Hispanic and myself and friend black. He waited until all our other friends left because I assume, he thought he could intimidate us. He claimed he has footage of one of us breaking an apparent "back door." We went outside for a few minutes but left with our group and NOTHING was broken by anyone in our group. My initial thought was that he had absolutely no proof of who broke this door and was just trying to intimidate the last people still standing outside the club to see if we would eventually cave and take ownership. He stood there for quite a while blaming us for the damage of the door and stated he has "witnesses" when asked for evidence,he couldn't provide any and when my husband and I told him to call the police because we will not be taking blame for anything we didn't do, that's when he walked away and was like "ok y'all can go home." This was such an absurd occurrence and management should definitely take a look into having someone like this ruin the reputation of their business as what I've read in other reviews there are other complaints referencing him. We won't be returning and spending our money here and neither will anyone from our group of people who will most likely inform others not to spend their money here either. !NOT TRANS GIRL OR LGBT+ INCLUSIVE! Writing this review because I didn't find anything helpful about stopping in or avoiding this bar as someone a part of the community. I'm from out of town and a huge fan of Coyote Ugly. I thought I'd take my best friend and step out to see the type of bar that inspired the film. Pros: - Coyotes on the bar were super nice and friendly. Didn't meet any of the mean employees discussed in the reviews. -I was apprehensive about going as an obviously "not straight" person but everyone kept to themselves and minded their business. I didn't feel unwelcome by the patrons or staff. Cons: -The music playing on both the first and second floor were both mixes of pop anthems and music that could be described as "emo". Didn't fit the bar theming very well. -unfortunately, as other reviews mentioned, the drinks were very watered down. -So this is where things get interesting. I had a little convo with the girl dancing on the bar and asked if patrons were able to get on the bar tonight since thats what the whole plot of the movie is and people are encouraged to get up and dance on said bar. She said "YES! Let's just wait for a better song to play". I take this chance to do a lap and see the upstairs area. A smaller space with a smaller bar. I make my way over to the DJ to ask if there's also a DJ downstairs and ask if both bars are able to be danced on. He says yes, but mentions "only girls, tho" followed swiftly by "the rule is no cocks on the bar". I reply saying "how do you know that's what I have between my legs?". He cowardly says "NO! I know YOU don't!". I make my way downstairs and ask the girl charging the cover if that rule was correct and she says "unfortunately yes, it's due to the 'women empowerment' nature of this bar." I thanked her and left the place. We spent a total of 40 mins there. It's unfortunate that the community that makes up the biggest portion of fans of the movie aren't able to participate in the experience. When planning a night out, I would skip this place. read more

Majority of my review is based off my experiences "pre-Covid-19." When partying in the area, this was always a staple stop. Bar hopping these streets is a favorite pastime. Great place to "people watch" Outside of any movie expectation, this place somewhat lives up to its name by having the bartenders dance on the bar. They get pretty wild and the music varies, but I've always watched the crowd enjoy it. The last time I went, was in 2020. The crowd was very lively. The bartenders were unable to keep up and I must admit, a lot drinks weren't accounted for on tabs. I can't imagine how often this occurs. read more

This Coyote Ugly is nothing like the movie... not even close. There was definitely no Tyra there. Five dollar cover and definitely not at all worth it. My friend was feeling herself and decided to dance on the bar, which is not only allowed but encouraged but then she was asked by security, who were asked by their boss, to be removed from the bar and from expressing herself. She wasn't dancing anymore provocatively than anyone else who joined in on the festivities but I'd say the only difference between her and the others, is that she had rhythm and had curves in all the right places. As a member of the lgbt+ community, maybe I just don't understand the protocol of this spot, but I do understand how annoyed my friend and I were with our treatment. Drinks are pricy and the vibe is not at all inviting. Although I regularly find myself at the River Walk, I will never be coming back here even if they ditched the unwarranted cover. read more

Some FYIs before you visit this place: 1. The GM may or may not have told me that they serve a 1oz shot. If you didn't know, most places serve a 1.5oz shot. You and your wallet will feel the difference. Also, it's a chain. Their drinks are already more expensive. 2. The bartenders will try to convince you to "make it a double", I would highly advise against it. Either get a beer or pregame at home. 3. Don't expect this place to be like the movie. I went on a slow day but you'd still think it would feel different than any old bar. The girls did one dance and even they looked bored. When I walked in I was smiled at by the ladies bartending which was nice and felt noticed and appriciated, drinks were made really well and I noticed I liked the mix of different music genres. I even loved dancing to the country music with people at the bar! My friend kept asking me if I was ready to leave to a different bar and I said no I want to stay here I'm having so much fun! First and most important, ladies should NEVER have to pay an entrance fee - men are there for one purpose and the staff just isn't providing the value here. This place was not too bad. Seemed better than the New Orleans one all right and wasn't too crowded. The beers were cheap and they had a great upstairs seating area. The women bartenders were pretty hot! I like how the doorman held conversation with you instead of just ignoring you. My issue was the lack of good seating except at the bar. Also, the upstairs seating area at the balcony was too high to really see down at the bar. They made it way too tall for no reason.
