We just waited 45 minutes, for what was suppose to be 4 tacos on corn tortillas and a side of plantains. They delivered to us flour tortillas with literally cut up hamburgers on them, and a cup with 3 bites of plantains. Now I understand, this isn't a big city, and Covid has small businesses struggling. Low key restaurant with a great combo of Caribbean and Mexican. We had bowls, which and wonderful coconut rice in each one. I had the Mesa verde, daughter had the special which had chorizo, husband had a vegan one, and other daughter had the Sanchez burrito. Worth the wait. We waited about 25 minutes, and it was well worth it. Delicious! Sam(antha) expertly explained everything. We started with the chips and salsa sampler. Their hot wasn't really very hot. Sweet and delicious. Spouse had a yummy yam soup special that tasted like sweet potato pie. I had the Roasted salmon boat. Portion sizes are adequate for your money's value in a small budget town. We stopped by on a recent visit to Boone based on Yelp reviews and it was directly across the street from our hotel. It was a fairly short wait without reservations on a Friday night. It was packed and there wasn't much room inside to wait. It was rainy and cold, so we sat and waited in the car. Overall, I was a bit underwhelmed with the food. I ordered a Basic burger, so maybe I should have ordered something a bit more adventurous and not so...basic. I was definitely put-off by the up-charge of $2 to add cheese to my burger. That seemed a little unreasonable for a slice of cheese. To be fair, I likely would try something else from the menu if we visit again. The menu definitely shouldn't be considered Caribbean. Maybe a twist on Southwest soul food? My husband is Jamaican and we were expecting actual Caribbean food, but it wasn't to be found. It seemed as though there wasn't proper ventilation in the kitchen or a proper barrier between the kitchen and the seating area. The host was rude and dismissive. They blocked you into the foyer until they decided to let you sit down. Signs everywhere that said unless you are actively eating, you must keep your mask on. So we decided to try this place out. What a disappointment! I'm giving it one star since there's no option to give negative stars. We arrived at 11 a.m. and were the first couple seated. We ordered unsweet tea which is a fruit tea and was quite tasty. We ordered the Salsa Sampler and Chips to snack on. Entrees were placed and 30 minutes later our Server comes out to tell us that the Cardiology Dept in Boone placed a sizable order and we were looking at at least another 20-30 minutes for our food. Their Kitchen Manager should be fired as they have no concept of Customer Service or how to run a Kitchen. We paid our $10 bill and went to The Mint Indian Restuarant which has great customer service and delicious food. Coyote Kitchen is a joke! Don't waste your time. read more

Amazing. The atmosphere inside is warm, their food is so good, and they have a great beer selection. I am a semi picky eater and I went a little out of my comfort zone here and I did not regret it one bit. All of their bowl/boat dishes are super tasty and always come out hot. The chipotle burger is so juicy and flavorful (great option for someone who likes spicy things). The fish on our entrees was really well cooked (salmon and tilapia) but the rice/bean/squash mix was just so bland. Wonderful experience with a ton of gluten free options (even dessert). My family and I loved this place! Now we wish there was one closer so we could visit more often! I read all the reviews and everything seemed great so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the fries and chipotle ranch as an appetizer and jerk Chicken boat dish. The food was yummy, the service was avg. the menu offered a product they didn't sell any longer. Rather than talk to us about it, the server opened and delivered it. Then walked away while I was expressing my dissatisfaction and didn't offer any options. Ordered a dessert for my fiancé for his birthday AND mentioned it to the server. When we ate about 50% of the cake the server asked about it. When we mentioned how dry it was she explained that there was a new baker but again did nothing to fix it. The food here was served with great service! The bowls are very tasty and you can pick whatever combo you like. Their house made salsa and hot sauces are also very good. This is my number two restaurant for my hometown. It comes second only to a restaurant I don't feel comfortable reviewing because I have worked there, so that is saying something. Coyote Kitchen is such an oddity in its location, but its food completely negates anything bad about its strange home. Let's discuss it for just a second though: Why is this restaurant settled in the part of town that is full of chain restaurants and strip malls? Very odd indeed for a restaurant serving vegan-friendly food and local meats. I like to think of it as the David of its Goliath neighborhood. Surrounded by Golden Corral, Chiles, Applebees, and yes, Walmart, Coyote Kitchen still manages to offer that Boone feel you get on King Street with its amazing menu, a good sized patio, and even some seating on the sidewalk that allows me to bring my sweet pup, Layla. Also, chances are you'll be served by someone that looks more King Street than strip mall: maybe dreds, maybe tats, and always friendly and considerate. I CANNOT eat here without ordering the sweet potato fries. They come with a housemade chipotle ranch and are the thin shoelace-style fries. I want them right now and every time I talk about them. Try the Sanchez burrito or any of the boats. The desserts and soups change frequently and are always satisfying. Coyote Kitchen has been there for me during my vegetarian and vegan phases, during my chocolate cravings, during my need for an amazing burger, during my exam crunch times and anytime I just crave something absolutely delicious and a little bit out of the ordinary. Really can fit any taste and a must-try to really experience "Boone" cuisine. read more
