I don't personally watch tv. I used too but haven't for a few years now...My opinion is based on when I had cable and what I've heard from people recently... All my friends have COX. They all enjoy their COX for the most part. A female friend of mine has had COX for years. She got it based on recomendation from her Mom who swears by COX and her Dad whose been an advocate for COX for a long time... One of my friends complained that his COX was very slow and didn't give him the definition and speed COX had originally offered. I guess COX don't always keep their end of the bargain. I don't think you can hold COX too accountable though. I mean COX are all over the county and I'm sure it gets diffuculult to satisfy everyone. I'm sure COX would be willing to satisfy your needs if you needed them too. They have 24 hour COX support staff that are very friendly and very helpful. Hell, they'll even send someone to work on your COX if it don't fit the box right... I'm just sayin' give COX a try...you might like COX... read more

I never really write bad reviews, but that's honestly how frustrated I am with cox. My husband and I went in Wednesday inquiring about Internet and cable service. It was over our budget, but decided to sign up anyways since we hear good things about the reliability ... Plus the guy said the service would be up same day and that's what we needed. Well, it wasn't up the same day. We called many times waiting for 20 minutes on the phone for help and still no one could help us... Each person told us something different. Finally we got an appointment for someone to come by Saturday and they said our service should be up by 5 pm latest. Once again, it was not. I called this morning and the call center was closed. I had to do the online chat and they told me my equipment wasn't registered. So when I got home I contacted them again to register the equipment only to find out that it wasn't in their system?! Now, I have to wait until tues evening for a technician to come out. This is so frustrating as my husband and I work from home and can not run our business without Internet. If this doesn't get resolved we are definitely not continuing with cox. read more

He answered all my questions and found a great plan that fit my budget range . I left the store very content with my plan and two year contract . I'm sick and cranky, so I'm not feeling like being even a little bit nice to Cox. My husband's old modem has been slowly dying, disconnecting us from the internet at least once a week. So I dug out my new-ish Dlink modem so that we could have an internet connection without worrying that the modem would overheat and shut down. When the husband called to register the new modem with Cox, they told him that they updated their system recently and it no longer works with Dlink modems. So they do an update to their system and many of their subscribers have to buy new modems, probably from them. Assholes. Back in 2006, before I got married, I had Cox service and was having internet issues. The lovely tech comes out to fix the problem and promptly tells me that my Dlink modem is the problem. Now, it's not the nicest or fanciest modem, but it does its job well. Turns out that the problem back then was related to some old wiring, NOT my modem. Also, the charges for box rentals are ridiculous. I think we can get Time Warner in our area, so I'm considering switching, but I'm not convinced it will be any better. If our phone jack wasn't wired for digital, it would make life a lot easier, but that's another rant for another day. read more

I love the internet service Cox provides, but this location is horrible in thousand's of ways for customer service. First of all, the private lot sucks. You could never find parking near this place. Secondly, I hate their method of calling and keeping track of who's next for customer assistance. It reminds of being at the DMV or grabbing my ticket number at the meat department. The worst part of it, they do have this little piece of shit kiosk that suppose to speed tings up for customers who simply want to make a quick payment. But, every time I show up, it never finds my account. See, it gives you the option of entering your phone number, entering the account number or scanning the bar-code from the bill statement. I expect it to work when I choose to enter my phone number because I always throw away my bill statement. Why should I have to bring my bill statement when it should be able to locate and find my account by entering my phone number. Even when I enter the account number, it still won't find my account. It's so stupid. Their employees aren't even helpful at all. I always tell them their stupid kiosk needs to be updated or fixed and they never seem to fix it. This place should burn down. read more

For the past 2 weeks my internet has been having intermittent drops. The drops seem to effect the upload speed more than the download because I usually only get 1-10% of the upload seed I should be getting. However, sometimes the upload speed is fin. Download speed stays within the range to be able to operate normal internet tests. However, I stream online for work and need the upload speed. (I personally have replaced my modem and ethernet cable to ensure it isn't my equipment) For the first week of trying to figure out what the problem was, I contacted cox half a dozen times where they conducted "signal tests" before scheduling a tech to come check the connection inside my house. I was told multiple times that my signal strength was fine and that there wasn't a problem. The tech that came in even said that my connection was good and very strong. They seemed to ignore me when I told them that my connection speed was occasionally ok for most at an hour at a time and that the upload was the main concern. After a week I was finally able to get them to schedule at tech to come and check the connection outside my house and the pole. After the time had passed for the tech to have been there, I contacted them to see what the tech said and was told that there was an issue processing the requests. This proceeded to happen 2 more times before I was eventually told that the tech did come and that he didn't find anything (this was 2 days later!). Then a supervisor technician visit was scheduled and the same thing happened here! Was suppose to come Sunday, I never got a call so I contacted cox and was told there was a "scheduling issue" and that "the request was not made properly". The supervisor technicians visit is not scheduled for tomorrow (Monday). We will see. At this point I will believe it when I see it. Honestly, one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. Everyone that helps me just wanted to butter me up and everyone they send out just runs a simple test to check the line. But there is obviously another issue at hand. Internet at this moment is still unfixed and I cannot stream longer than an hour at any given time before my upload speed tanks for hours at a time and I start dropping frames because of it. Unacceptable. We pay way too much money every month to be having these kinds of issues. read more

My experience here highlights why I am no longer with cox! I don't want to go on and on, because in reading other reviews, it sounds like this is business as usual for this place. Went in to return my boxes because of my recent cancellation. Had to wait 30 (YES THIRTY) minutes to drop off two boxes. When I was called, the guy helping me didn't say 2 words to me and I was done and out the door in 30 seconds. Why, why, why in the world do you not have a line dedicated to drop offs? Makes absolutely NO SENSE AT ALL why I have to wait there while a bunch of people sit there to argue over their bills or try to figure out what service the want to get for a 3 month introductory price only to be taken for every last cent 3 months later when the price "adjusts". I just wanted to express a little frustration at Cox cable and I'm not even a customer. I've gotten a promotional mailer nearly every day since I moved to my new apartment in North Park January 1st. All are address to "Current Resident". I called 3 times asking to be removed from the mailer. Each time I was asked my name at which point I said it wasn't necessary since they didn't already have it. Fed up with this unnecessary junk mail, I called today and was told by the boy on the phone that address can't be removed from mailers! Let me tell you... the SECOND ATT U-Verse is available in my neighborhood I am switching. The last two times I have visited this location I have had to drop off equipment (box) only, no other business just DROP OFF EQUIPMENT!! This time I waited 30 minutes exactly from the time I got my number in line ticket to getting called.... walk up he verifies my info and takes the box (literally 1 minute) and I get to leave - more than a half hour of my life was wasted dropping off something! The time I was there before this that same process took me 45 minutes so maybe I should be happy? The customer service is just atrocious, routinely they are BSing behind the counter and not helping people, ex. there will be 5 people behind the counter but only 1 is actually helping customers. We've had so many problems recently, it almost seems intentional. I can't understand how any company can be so bad. We've had Cox for as long as I can remember but the service the last few months have been unbearable. We pay for the highest Internet they have, and I haven't been able to watch Netflix in days because of the connection. We had to buy new boxes because they moved to "all HD" so that's an extra $15 a month they've gotten from us. You'd think after paying MORE money maybe there'd be a benefit? Nope. Now some of my channels lose service on and off throughout the day, and the wifi connection is still unbearable. I also work at Chula Vista High School, who uses Cox, and we randomly lose the Internet there as well. I hate to say this but the customer service over the phone is very poor. It takes so much effort to even reach anybody by phone that I actually have to come in. It's faster just to drive down here. Then you sit and wait for minutes upon minutes just to get help. And that's if you can even find a parking spot in this overcrowded parking lot. I have had my appointments canceled for no reason at all. Once I was waiting for a technician to show up and they never showed up. When I finally reached somebody by phone, I was told, "It was an administrative cancellation" but they had no other explanation. So I waited all day for nothing. When they finally sent a technician to my house, a few days later, it was a contracted installer. He got the information wrong from Cox. He thought he was installing one line. And there was actually five lines he needed to install. Well he refused to install the five lines and only installed the one. He drilled a hole through the foundation portion of my house and after he dug about 4 inches he realized that he wasn't supposed to drill there to stall the wires! I was told they were going to send somebody out to fix it the hole ASAP but it took about six phone calls and three different visits to the store to get this corrected and when they finally corrected it, 3 weeks later, the patch job looked like crap! It took a total of three different techs just to get wires installed in my new home. It was unbelievable. The reason why I even give them one star (besides the fact I can't give zero) is because when I'm actually in the store, I get pretty good service. They are usually friendly and go out of their way to try to help me. But some reason there's a disconnect from once your order is processed until the technicians actually get to the house. But the cable choices are limited, it's either Cox cable or satellite TV. I'm very frustrated with Cox. Booooo read more

This review has nothing to do with the particular store. It is more so a review on Cox cable in general Have nothing good to say about this cable company. I began paying $150 on a two year contract. Each month I noticed my bill increase little by little. After a year with I was paying $230 a month. Mind you I wasn't getting hbo, showtime or any sports package. I called to figure out what the hell was going on and could not get a straight answer. I finally told them I will be shopping around. They said to wait until my two years are up then they can see what promotions they had available. I waited till my contract was up asked what kind of promotions and they offered my $5 dollars off. I was furious. I called AT$t uverse to get a quote. They offered me much more for a lot less. I locked it in. When I went to cancel Cox they started trying to offer all these deals. Still nothing as good as uverse so I cancelled. 2 days later I get an email from Cox saying they would offer me 40% off for a year. I was so fed up with these guys that I didn't even entertain it. Any of you fed up with Cox I would tell you look into Uverse cancel Cox and see what they start offering you a couple days later. read more

Was about to cancel service but went into this Cox Store and the guy behind the counter was super nice and asked me.."Are you using the DVR?" - I said, "not really". I've gotta give it to them. They delivered the goods. (I use their internet service ONLY, so this review is not based on cable or phone service which I have no knowledge of.) I was EXTREMELY dissatisfied with AT&T's internet service, so I decided to switch to Cox. What I wanted was reliable service that actually delivered the speed I was paying for (sounds reasonable, right?). Unfortunately I wasn't getting anywhere close to the speed I was paying for at AT&T, so I went down to the Cox store down the street. I took a number and expected I was going to be there a while, but I actually got to the counter much quicker than I expected. I had done my homework online and had already shopped around for plans. I had my guard up and came there ready for a fight. The first thing that raised my eyebrows was that there was a $30 fee for self installation and $60 to have a tech come out and install. When I got to the counter, I opted for the self installation, but she said since I had a previous service (AT&T) they HAD to have someone come out to install. Before I could even open my mouth to raise a protest, though, she said, "...but let me go ahead and waive the installation fee for you" ($30 and all!!). Shut me right up... When the installation was complete, I immediately did a speed test and quickly discovered that I was, in fact, getting the 25mpbs I was paying for. I have been keeping a close eye on the internet speed using speedtest.net and I can say that Cox is delivering consistently. Additionally, for the past 2 years, Cox has partnered with Inclusion Films to provide a summer film camp for children and young adults with autism. The camp allowed the participants to create a film from beginning to end that ultimately premiered at the San Diego Film Festival. Cox hosted the event at it's San Diego campus and provided plenty of volunteers to help run the 2 week camp smoothly. Allowing about 50 kids with autism the full run of your campus MUST have been at least a bit of a disruption, but they were EXTREMELY cool about it. Everyone there--from the security guards to the office staff--seemed genuinely very happy to have us there. He went to a computer, logged something then walked over to one of the techs to say, "I'm out.". As we wait, 2 more customers with their families in tow walked in, signed in, and even they didn't get any greeting of acknowledgment from these same 2 techs who are still serving the same customers in almost complete silence as the continue to type on their respective keyboards. Just had the worst experience at Cox. My 70 year old mom lives by herself in a small 400sq apartment. They set her with a plan that was almost $300. I called myself and had them bring her down to the 2nd level plan/silver. Her bill is at $400 now we went into the store and they said, "oh since you wanted less channels your bill is higher" This doesn't make any sense? Then they said the request never went through to change the plans, we went to pay the balance and the lady was extremely rude she threw my debit card back at me, I never get frustrated with people, but I said "You should be nicer" and she said "well YOU SHOULD BE NICER TOO!" TRUE STORY: Went into Cox on Telegraph Canyon, was greeted by Alyssa (not sure if that's the correct spelling). Told her that I needed to upgrade service for my mother, and also informed her that I didn't believe I was on the account (had phone in hand ready to call mom for permission to upgrade). Alyssa asked my name, went into her pc, and to my surprise informed me that I WAS on the account. "Really? Does that mean I'm authorized to make changes?" I asked. "Yes, you are. Now how can I help you?" she replied. I began by telling her that my mom recently downgraded and only had the very basic cable. "No she doesn't. She has a full bundle." She matter of factly interrupted. I was taken aback, not only by her tone, but also by the conviction with which she contradicted me. "I'm pretty sure she doesn't have a full bundle," I answered, "in fact, we recently returned the box." "No you didn't," she forcefully countered, "She still has the box." Twice contradicted (notwithstanding that I was correct and she was wrong), I started to get a little irritated. I told her that I was just at my mother's house, that she only had the very basic channels and had no box. "You're just going to have to bring your mother in," she replied, dismissively turning/walking away mid-sentence. "No, you're going to have to get someone else to help me because you're very rude!" I answered. "Have a seat," she said, pointing to the row of chairs by the window. After about five minutes, representative Waldo asked "Can I help you?" I approached his counter and could tell by the very unpleasant look on his face that Alyssa had already "warned him" about me and that he was already prejudiced / ready for confrontation. I told Waldo I needed to upgrade service for my mother. "What's your name?" he asked. "Kevin," I replied. "You're not on the account," he answered. "But that lady right there told me I was," I responded. To which Waldo replied......are you ready for this?......."NO SHE DIDN'T." Yes, that's right, contradiction no. three - in a span of about five minutes no less! "Excuse me, were you a part of that conversation?!" I indignantly asked. "No," he answered. "Then how would you know what she told me?" I asked. To which Waldo responded..............wait for it..............."BECAUSE SHE TOLD ME." I left the store having experienced the worst customer service of my life, and to make a long story short (maybe too late for that), shopped around for new service and got hooked up with AT&T for $25 a month less than what I was paying with Cox. A couple of days later got my mom the same deal. Moral: Hire a couple of contrarians, lose a couple of long time customers. Good times! :O) read more

Went there to renew our promotional package on time to avoid any surprising fees, and I talked to one of the Cox associates. Everything seemed really easy, and said he found us a new deal for even less money than our previous promotion. Once I receive the statement, it turns out he straight up lied to our faces and almost doubled our previous bill! It went from about $80 to almost $140! I am never trusting Cox Cable again, especially this store again. I will ask for an itemized bill beforehand to confirm what I will be charged with since they like to lie to their loyal customers. There's plenty of other upcoming companies that I will gladly pay for, just because they're more honest about their prices and don't lie in the first place. Who in the right mind paying only for internet and home phone without cable, agree to pay almost double for using only internet service at the same speed. I'm seriously disappointed at Cox Cable in how lying to customers is allowed. If this isn't fixed by the time I go back and tell them to remove the charges, because I was lied and not let aware of any hidden fees, I am done with Cox Cable for good. read more

Still never ceases to amaze me that people working customer service have no tact. Hello?! It's called customer service for a reason. My goldfish has more pep and personality. If you hate your job so bad, quit. People at telegraph canyon are THE worst. Cox should go back to sending boxes for returns. Also, a 25 minute wait to return a box?? Don't get Cox Cable if you don't have to. Customer service is bad and their price are even worse!
