One moment you'll have service, the next, you'll either have service with terrible connection or even better, you'll have nothing at all :). It's part of the deal. This is the absolute worst Internet service provider I could possibly imagine. After 15 years of Comcast, I had maybe 2 outages. That is fewer than I have in a single week with Cox. Their service is painfully unreliable, and their customer service line is equally dysfunctional, as they do absolutely everything possible to not have you speak to an agent. If they put as much effort into providing reliable service as they do keeping you away from an agent, they'd be bulletproof. After finally speaking to a "customer service" agent, they're back to suggesting that I check my modem and arguing with me that they need to bring service down to run their network. THREE OUTAGES in FOUR DAYS and they want to argue that there's merit in that. They're outrageous. I would not recommend Cox to anyone for any reason. Internet is subpar at best. You will regularly lose internet every month for 3-5 days and there is no solution according to tech support, other than paying $20 more per month to increase speeds. kind of hard justifying paying more when their service doesn't work at all. I have been with cox for over 30 years, however recent 3 or 4 months have been a nightmare! First they replaced the cable from house to computer. It did not fix the problem. Then they came out and replaced the cable from Alley to house. Did not fix the problem. Then they said there was a problem outside our area, I worked closely with a tech, and he worked with another engineer. Finally they seemed to have the problem fixed. It worked great for 3 or 4 days. Then bam, we are dealing with the same internet problems. They always want to run you through the same routines, they being the phone techs. The do not care what the notes say. I am now down for at least a week or two with the same intermittent problem. Down more than I am up. Heep having to use my phone internet and running out of minutes since my cable internet does not work. Really getting tired of this. We pay big bucks for cox internet. I am pretty well fed up with them. But what can we do? They are the only fiber internet in our area. read more

I've been a Cox internet service (residential) customer for several years. Mostly because there's no other choice currently for broadband in the area. The next fastest service is DSL (and not even top speed DSL at that.) Cox requires you to use one of the Gateways if you want to have cloud DVR capabilities for their TV service. It's the only reason I would have one of their Technicolor gateways. Cox used to allow for limited DMZ/port forwarding to be configured in the gateway. (Yes, they also permanently blocked many ports, but that could be OK.) Lately, they have removed port forwarding and DMZ capabilities entirely from their gateway, seriously devaluing their internet offering. Thankfully, a fiber-to-home option should be available in the coming months providing faster speeds at lower cost, without data caps and all the use limiting barriers that come with Cox. Can't wait to bid farewell to Cox. (BTW - without data caps and faster service, TV service will be changed to streaming services - and only those I want, not bloated packages.) read more

Paid for service that I did not receive for 3 weeks, then charged 100 a pop for each tech to come down and not fix anything. It's been three months, I've been charged almost $600 and my Internet is still yet again down. They are sending another tech to take a look. But now I'm signed up for extra bs plan so I don't have to pay for the tech it's an extra 3 bucks I think. 3 techs, $600, no Internet. Go somewhere else. Now it has been a week and nobody in customer service can tell me how long it will be out. They employ predatory pricing practices with very aggressive and rude sales people. I have been a customer for almost 30 years, and they just increased my price again after saying that a promo discount had expired. When I called them to see how I can shed services to reduce my cable/internet bill, I had a rude sales person who wouldn't let me speak. I hung up and called again got another sales person and they tried to sell me mobile phone services. When I tried to shed services they claimed that would increase my bill. Their tech support say they don't have any info when I call and neither does their website. I am livid, that as a paying customer they won't give any info. For 3 days they keep giving estimated time when service will return and keep pushing back the time. I don't think they are being truthful and forthcoming. I have trouble in the past with there boxes abruptly stop working, losing my DVR, getting a new upgraded box with the promise of getting back all my lost DVR then finding out it's not true, promising a new plan and then the details and cost are not what the promised. I have been with them a long time, years. But now I think I'm done, their service has really gone downhill over the years. They are quick to send emails for payment reminder at one day past due, but they won't give me info about the 3 day outage? I defy anyone to find a more poorly run organization. I have been paying for Jacob last four years. I have never once gotten anything close to what I'm paying for. Nevertheless, today was the last straw. I had an appointment for 8 to 10. No one showed up. I called they said "rest assured" someone will be there between one and three. No one showed. That my appointment "got canceled" when I called and asked why they said that they knocked on my door and called me five times and left a voicemail. No missed calls, no voicemail, and I have cameras all around the house, including a ring camera and no one has been here. Just blatantly lied on my account. Signed up for service and set an appointment for an issue with connectivity. My appointment was scheduled from 8-10am. Technician no showed, no call no text. I reached out to customer service and spent an hour on the line with a rep and then a supervisor, who took my cell number in case I got disconnected. Of course I end up getting disconnected somehow. I then call back and have an additional supervisor tell me I did not have an appointment from 8-10am, I was misinformed. Which is crazy because I received several verifications confir.ing my appointment from 8-10am. Now apparently I am suppose to wait all day for a tech to arrive by 6pm. My service is always going out. My service (internet and TV) is out several times a day two or three days a week. I have been working at home and the service will go out and I cannot participate in a remote meeting unless I use my hotspot. Cox always recommends resetting my equipment. I don't think I should have to reset my equipment three or four times a week. I pay a lot of money for my service, and like clockwork, I can always count on my bill increasing several times a year. I'm not sure why I am paying so much for such bad service. I have started calling in and requesting a credit on my bill, but my service is out so much that I would be calling all the time. And don't get me started on the wait times for customer service. I think they make you wait so long hoping you will give up. About a month ago, I was the phone with CS for an hour and a half and that was on Superbowl Sunday. I missed the second quarter and halftime because my service was out.
