this is the worse damn company for internet service ever!! i received communication from cox stating i did not pay my bill. without thinking twice i paid the bill. 2 days later i found that i paid the bill twice and this was cox error. i called to ask for the overage to be returned and they said i needed to forward my statement as proof. i sent screen shots of the charges as i shoud not have to send all my banking information cause it was not relative. not only does cox have rude employees, they have proven time after time that they are complete garbage and don't give a damn about the customer. common sense should tell you that i can't send a damn statement with both charges if the issue exsist within the current month!!! as soon as i get the opportunity to switch from cox, i'm leaving as they give zero fucks about the consumer, i.e.... the damn customer. if i wanted to scam someone it would not be for pennies on the damn dollar, damn idiots!!! read more

I have been a cox customer since 1982. I started with cable and landline and later added internet service. after about 20 years I cancelled the cable as it was way to expensive. went to Directv and saved $100 a month. About 2 month ago I cancelled my landline because i never used it. cox then raised my internet bill from $51 to $83+ for a bunch of BS reasons. I found a new provider with much higher speed and much lower cost and fiber optics to boot. Today I spent over 2 hours trying to get a hold of a live person to cancel my service. Finally got a live agent on the chat and all they did was try to convince me to stay with them, after i told them numerous times i already had another provider who had already been to my house and connected my service. finally hung up on them. Can't find an email address,. so keeping chat and not paying then anymore so if they want to come after me, bring it. When it works it's great, but when Wi-Fi problems start, it is a miserable company for tech support. Starting Thanksgiving week, I was having 4-4 outages a day for 12-15 minutes. Every day the situation deteriorated, culminating in 11 outages over 12 hours on Christmas Day! Tech support means going through the Philippines and Guatemala City, and being unable to get someone who speaks English. I finally was able to get someone out 12/29. He was late because of lack of techs, but I had waited all day. Cox system "changed" my appointment to the later time, which was a lie. The tech was very nice, diagnosed the problems and put in a ticket for an outdoor repair the following Saturday. He thought I would have fewer to no outages, but they continued approx every hour Another tech came out the following Saturday. He snapped the main permanent line. He told me I would be contacted within 48 hours. Then the Cox website said I had cancelled the appointment. Bring fed up with this incredible chain of events and the way Cox was lying on their website, I called a tech line and was connected to the Philippines. This person could do absolutely nothing for me and refused to transfer my call to the US. I then called the Chandler Cox store and left a message -- no call back. I called again and Steeeeve assured me that I would be contacted within 48-72 hours. That was 6 days ago. Cox did not update my billing information, as a result the account fell behind, when I tried to work with their customer service (overseas) it was unbearable. I canceled my account, and disputed charges. Cox without knowing put me into collections for $300+ bill and my score dropped from an 850 to a 749. On April 9, 2025 we had a scheduled service call to our home. It was a contrator for Cox. Nice guy but he could not fix our problem. We still have a problem of 4 of our TV's stopping to receive service. Very frusttrating if your watching tv. The only solution the contractor and his supervisor could recommend was that we upgrade to streaming. I uunderstand if the DVR box is going out, but at this point it is not. We do not want to give up the DVR box because we will lose everything that we have recorded or have scheduled to record. Seems to be poor service, if the contratactor can't fix the problem then maybe a regular Cox Technician should be called to do the service. We pay almost $400 a month for service from Cox. read more

Technical support for Internet is terrible. They start by assuming the problem is because of me, and that I am dumb. The tech came out and found that Cox's Internet signal to our house was weak, and defective. He said they would fix it on their end in a day or two. Four days later, I got an email that the order was on hold, and to call them. The call wait time was 9 to 18 minutes. The tech finally came on and assumed I was waiting for equipment for new service. It took 15 minutes for him to figure things out, read the manual, learn the computer inputs, etc. He was a trainee at best, apparently with very little training. He set up an appointment with us four more days away. I'm still not sure that a correct solution is in the works, and it will be a week from my original call before I know. Installation SCAM!! Cox claim they have a free quick internet set up for apartments that have their equipment already installed. I called the phone number, gave them all the information on the modem and verified all connections were correct. The tech on the phone could not set up the modem on their end. I needed a tech to come out. Tech comes out verified all connections were correct, called a phone number, entered the information from the modem and now it works. $100 service fee! I have to pay $100 for a tech to make a phone call. Phone techs are not allowed to fix problems, so home visits are required at $100 fee. Add this to all of the problems with this company. read more

This is the absolute worst Internet service provider I could possibly imagine. After 15 years of Comcast, I had maybe 2 outages. That is fewer than I have in a single week with Cox. Their service is painfully unreliable, and their customer service line is equally dysfunctional, as they do absolutely everything possible to not have you speak to an agent. If they put as much effort into providing reliable service as they do keeping you away from an agent, they'd be bulletproof. After finally speaking to a "customer service" agent, they're back to suggesting that I check my modem and arguing with me that they need to bring service down to run their network. THREE OUTAGES in FOUR DAYS and they want to argue that there's merit in that. They're outrageous. I would not recommend Cox to anyone for any reason. I have been with cox for over 30 years, however recent 3 or 4 months have been a nightmare! First they replaced the cable from house to computer. It did not fix the problem. Then they came out and replaced the cable from Alley to house. Did not fix the problem. Then they said there was a problem outside our area, I worked closely with a tech, and he worked with another engineer. Finally they seemed to have the problem fixed. It worked great for 3 or 4 days. Then bam, we are dealing with the same internet problems. They always want to run you through the same routines, they being the phone techs. The do not care what the notes say. I've been a Cox internet service (residential) customer for several years. Mostly because there's no other choice currently for broadband in the area. The next fastest service is DSL (and not even top speed DSL at that.) Cox requires you to use one of the Gateways if you want to have cloud DVR capabilities for their TV service. It's the only reason I would have one of their Technicolor gateways. Cox used to allow for limited DMZ/port forwarding to be configured in the gateway. (Yes, they also permanently blocked many ports, but that could be OK.) Lately, they have removed port forwarding and DMZ capabilities entirely from their gateway, seriously devaluing their internet offering. Thankfully, a fiber-to-home option should be available in the coming months providing faster speeds at lower cost, without data caps and all the use limiting barriers that come with Cox. Can't wait to bid farewell to Cox. (BTW - without data caps and faster service, TV service will be changed to streaming services - and only those I want, not bloated packages.) read more
