The part that is sad is that I've been with Cox cable for over 25 years and spent thousands and thousands of dollars over the years with them this would be the first time I apply for a mobile phone to get an iPhone Pro Max the 2017 model and they denied me because they said my credit is in good enough and yet I applied at Verizon 20 minutes later and they approved me on on a brand new iPhone Pro Max brand new with no money out-of-pocket and I've never had any service with Verizon. It's so sad that after 25 years they don't even chance giving you a but another competitor will be more than happy to give you that chance so if you don't have perfect just head over to take great care of you on a brand new Apple with zero dollars down. read more

about 2 months ago Google ran fibre in our neighborhood. Since then, everyday between the hours of 2:30 - 3:30 our network drops. I have to reboot the modem and my router, sometimes multiple times. Some neighbors have experienced the same results. I purchased a new modem and router hoping that would solve the issue, but no luck. I called Cox support and L1 confirmed they can see outages on their end and escalated to L2. L2 wants to charge me to send someone out to check on their H/W. They said the charges would be waved if determined to be outside my house. What are the odds they will do that? I work from home and cannot keep having these outages. The process was made extremely difficult for something that should have been simple. The website wasn't working to update my address, so I was forced to call in. That turned into speaking with 3-4 different agents and spending about 2.5 hours just to complete a basic change. When I finally reached someone helpful, they offered me two years of Cox TV "free of charge" as part of a promotion. I want to be very clear, I did not ask for this. In fact, I told the agent multiple times that I did not want TV, but he insisted I take it after the trouble I had been through. Three weeks later, my bill was over $400. Imagine the frustration of having to call back again, especially when there was no billing data available in the app. Once again, I had to speak to multiple agents, repeat my entire situation several times, and no one seemed able to help. It got to the point where I was in tears from the frustration. Eventually, I reached someone who was actually helpful. She informed me that when you switch locations, autopay is automatically canceled, something Cox never communicated. So part of that $400 bill was a missed payment I didn't even realize hadn't gone through. That should have been clearly communicated upfront. She also discovered that the biggest reason for the inflated bill was the $140/month TV charge, the same "free" TV I was told I'd be receiving. She was shocked and said Cox does not offer free TV promotions, which means the original agent either misled me or was completely misinformed. She removed the TV charges from my current and future bills and confirmed multiple times that I would only be charged $125/month for internet. Unfortunately, it didn't end there. On my next billing cycle, my bill was over $200, and the $140 TV charge was back again. I had to call in again, explain the entire situation again, and request it be removed again. I was also repeatedly asked about returning the cable box, which I had already returned to the Cox store. Overall, this has been an incredibly frustrating and exhausting experience with customer service. The only reason I'm still using Cox is because of the fiber optic internet, which is excellent. Other than that, the experience has been a 0/10. Let's see what my bill looks like next month. read more

I told him there has been no change in the way we have been using it. He transferred me to someone else and I asked them if they could explain why my data keeps spiking and they ended the chat without responding. I started a new chat and the first person I talked to couldn't answer the question and transferred me to a sales agent. She said she didn't understand why they transferred me to her because there was nothing she could do. She told me to contact billing. I tried to contact billing twice through chat, the virtual assistant transferred me to a live agent and a live agent just never joined the chat both times. I called billing and he said he couldn't find a reason why my data has been spiking. He said spectrum has unlimited data for $50 and to call them. I called spectrum and they asked for my account number, the app wouldn't let me log in, it said there was an error. They said they don't service my address and to call cox back. I called Cox three times. The first time the call did not go through. The next two times I was on hold over ten minutes both times. I kept having issues getting into the app with continuing error messages. I finally got a hold of billing though the chat again. I was told I would receive an upgrade to spectrums unlimited data. I asked when that would start and he would not give me an answer. I kept asking and he transferred me to another agent. He told me to call spectrum and ask to move my service to them. I told him they don't service my address and he said to call cox AGAIN and ask for the unlimited data deal. I was on hold for 18 minutes. I was told by billing they have unlimited data for $85. I told them if spectrum has unlimited data for $50 and they own cox I should be able to get that plan. She hung up on me. I called Cox billing AGAIN. I was on hold for 24 minutes he said he could give me unlimited data for $137. I asked why it would be more than double and he said he could do it for $80. I asked why I couldn't get the $50 deal that two different cox agents said spectrum has. He said he would talk to his supervisor. He said his supervisor wasn't there. He tried to see if he could get a deal approved for unlimited data for $60. He finally got that approved. Unlimited data, a faster speed of 500 gb instead of 100 gb, and a new modem for $8 more than I was already paying. I have screenshots of everything. You can literally see my phone battery dying as the screenshots go on. I started at 9:30 am and finally got it resolved at 2 pm. read more

How is Cox so abysmally bad at doing the only thing they are in business to do? We recently moved from Phoenix to Mesa, and I used the Cox app to transfer our Wifi and cable services to the new house. Got WiFi up and running easily but decided it was time to cut the cord with cable and go to streaming. I called Cox and asked them to discontinue our cable service only--but, for some reason, they also cut off my WiFi on the spot. I called them back and asked them to immediately reinstate the WiFi and was told it would take a minimum of 24 hours, and I needed to go pick up new equipment. I literally had the Cox router ten feet away and the internet access was working fine until the call with customer service. No one could explain to me why all hoops were necessary--and not one of the three people I interacted with offered an apology for the issue. I grabbed all my obsolete, clunky Cox equipment and dropped it off. Went over to T-Mobile and was up and running with WiFi within 90 minutes via their Gateway cellular product. WTF, Cox?! read more

Wish I could give Zero stars. Cox informed us that since Spectrum is now our cable/TV company, there would be no price increase. However our price jumped from $298 to $329! Do not believe them if they say you can call a phone number and someone will help lower your bill because you are a long time customer. The last call I made was why my bill increase to $42.00 more. The representative said she could not identify me even though I told the answer to specific questions she asked. I cancelled my service with Cox after being w/ them over 20 years in AZ (plus 10 yrs more in another state). Initially the service was good but for the last 10 years, it was increased pricing every year without increased enhancement of service. In fact, the service kept going down on the regular. When I called to report it they always said they had people out working it. But they did not! Service would be out for 4-6 hours when there was rain. Finally I cut the tie. Service spends more time out than actually working. Ive had two techs come out and one spend a whopping 5 minutes before saying everything looked fine, only for the next tech to say everything was wrong and doesnt understand why the 1st tech didnt do anything. Theres an outage nearly weekly. And if you mention it to the customer service they dont care all they do is try to upsell you on EVERYTHING. They dont even pretend to care. Just sell sell sell. Spent four hours talking to customer service after I changed my service address. Did not find out until hour 3 that I had to make a new account for a new address to get my modem working. Only to then find out that the modem I have is not the one they would let me use. I tried to cancel and got stalled by agents until after 12am ET so the office for cancellations is not open until tomorrow. It's also impossible to cancel your service online by yourself. The agents kept recommending I get a technician out for $100 when I knew I would not need one. I got disconnected multiple times and talked to about 10 different agents. Absolutely horrible. The customer service plan they add to your account is a scam. I am deciding which company I can switch to, but more than likely their biggest competitor. Bills continue to get more expensive for low quality services. They charge for transfer fees, they don't back date refunds for usage you weren't able to access (even when they tell you they will and can), and they overcharge for basic internet and gouge you for decent internet. read more

We've had Cox for 15 years and the service has never been awesome. We finally decided to jump ship and try another company and it was *so complicated* to leave Cox. You have to either "chat" with them via their website or call and talk to a salesperson. Both wouldn't let me cancel, I went round and round typing "I'm not interested. Please just process the cancellation." on repeat, and they kept avoiding or distracting or suggesting other "deals." Eventually I called and after doing the same thing with a man on the phone, the line went quiet and he never came back to the line. An hour later I got a cancellation email. Has to be the least skilled tech support of any company I've ever dealt with. Don't bother getting a solution from their support line. All they can do these days is follow a couple prompts before scheduling a tech several days later. My Internet keeps going down the same time at night and stays out for 14 hours until the same time the next morning. They can't do anything from their end and the tech found now problem. Tech says it has to be coming from corporate software especially since it's the same time each night. And corporate support is a bunch of bumbling idiots. My internet has been down 63 out of the last 96 hours and they couldn't even schedule a second tech the next day. I have to wait till later in the week when I haven't been able to work until noon every day so far. Don't ever trust them to help you. Cox service is so disappointing now. Over the last year or so both their internet speeds and their customer service have degraded to the point where it's almost offensive. The only time they actively provide positive communication with their customers seems to be when they want to upsell you on their services. However, Cox technicians that have come out to address slow speeds have openly advised me that the current infrastructure Cox is using to provide internet service to my address is not capable of delivering the speeds for which I'm already paying (so their dedication to the upsell is just another karma against them). I've been a COX customer for over 20 years. My old Wi-Fi box worked great for a long time. I briefly tried another provider for 30 days, but when I came back to COX, I was set up with their new Wi-Fi equipment. Since then, nothing has worked the way it should. I live in a small 1,800 sq.ft. home, and the COX box is placed in the same central spot as it has for years, yet the Wi-Fi cuts in and out constantly. We've spent hours on the phone with Cox, visited in person, and jumped through every hoop they asked -- all just to transfer our existing internet service to a new location. Despite confirming the transfer multiple times, on the day it was supposed to happen, they had no record of the order. No one seems to know what's going on. Every rep gives a different answer, everything requires a technician (even when it shouldn't), and nothing about the process is made easy for the customer. For all the effort Cox puts in to getting business, they fail when it comes to ensuring customers will return to their services when we need to cancel. I was simply switching to a business service for exanded needs. I contacted Cox in April to cancle the residential service that was no longer needed. Everything was done via chat and they indicated everything was completed. Fast forward to July and I found out from business support that the residential service was still active even through there were notes inditating it was to be canceled. I have not been on the phone for over 60 minutes, waiting for someone to refund the amounts billed since cancelation. Again, Cox even has notes showing I contacted them to cancel the serivce in April! Business support is generaly good, but residential tends to be very poor. If Verizona, AT&T or Tmobile Cellular is available if your area, I would give it a try....chances are it will be 1/2 the cost and better customer service. read more

I had Cox internet for years. I took for granted the weak signal and the dropped internet, frozen screens multiple times per day. It's a very low quality signal. I never saw a "strong" signal, not on the 4G or the 5G lines. I switched to T-Mobile, and I have not seen anything lower than a "strong" signal for a week now. Consistently. When I cancelled Cox they informed me i was locked into a one year service agreement because my very ill husband had been sold a "business" account rather than a residential account. I'm unclear how that happened, and why we were paying a higher rate than we should have been. T-Mobile will cut my internet bill in half,and it is a much better signal. So happy to get rid of Cox. read more

Don't hang up or disconnect customers when they are trying to cancel your service when it doesn't work over & over, EVERYTIME I was Hung up on or Disconnected when Cox said they would connect me to the Dept. so I could CANCEL my service making it IMPOSSIBLE to cancel so I just took their router to a Cox store and instead of paying COX $200.+ ea month for Horrible service I got a T-Mobile WiFi router for $30. a month that has worked "Perfect" for the last few months since I got it! SCAMMED BY COX In August 2024, I was convinced by a Cox agent to switch my phone service from Visible to Cox. I had already switched from Verizon to Visible due to the cost and I was unable to afford Verizon. My Visible cost was $35 a month. The Cox agent promised me that my charge would be $25 a month and I believed him so I switched. I have diagnoses that cause me to forget things and I've had soooo many late charges etc because of this. Therefore, EVERYTHING is on autopay. Month one was confirmed on my end and then everything after was $60+?! I got emails but I genuinely thought this was my INTERNET bill.
