The food was good after we finally got it. Gentleman brought our drinks when we sat down. Waitress took our order and an hour later we still did not have our food. We caught her as she walked by and requested more drink. When told that we had not gotten our food she just looked confused. People who came in after us had eaten and left. When ready to leave. We had to find someone to get our ticket. When asked at checkout how our meal was we informed the cashier that we were very disappointed and it was not a good experience. There was no apology. She just took our money and that was it. We usually do not complain but this was unacceptable. Sorry but I cannot recommend this restaurant. read more

This was my second time eating at Cowboy Restaurant in Elkin. I first visited last summer, and it was fantastic -- the food was absolutely delicious! My brother-in-law is obsessed with this place. He talks about it so much you'd think he owns it (he doesn't, but the way he hypes it up, you'd never know). This time, I ordered the filet, medium rare, with hush puppies, a baked potato, and a side salad. Everything was great, though they did bring the steak out medium well instead of medium rare. That was the only small miss, but honestly, it was still really good. The service here is fantastic -- the staff is friendly, quick, and they really make you feel welcome. On top of that, the restaurant has a very cool country vibe. I love the laid-back atmosphere, and the rocking chairs outside are a perfect touch. It's the kind of place where you can just sit, relax, and enjoy yourself. I can definitely see why my brother-in-law can't get enough of it! read more

We wanted steaks & baked potatoes, they don't start serving the baked potatoes until after 4, it was 15 minutes until & the waitress wouldn't let us wait to order, they were not busy. Food come out at 4:15 & the steaks were awful. No flavor and TUFF. Really disappointed because this place came highly recommended, later found out that the people that recommended had never order steaks. I quickly realized why so many people were ordering the fish. read more

2023 Nov 28, 17:35; Elkin NC Parking - 3 can get rather crowded as popular as this place seems Location - 4 right on the main drag in town Decor/Ambiance - 3 family environment Customer Service - 4 very good. Polite friendly Pricing - 4 very reasonable Food Flavor - 4 down home type food Product Variety - 3 good number of options Restrooms - not checked Cleanliness- 4 dinning area very clean and tables cleared quickly. Seating- 3 can get pretty crowded as tables fill up fast. Time To Order - 3 minutes Time To Food Arrival - 7 minutes I have drove by place numerous times. It occupies a spot where several other restaurants have failed. This one has been here a while and if the parking lot is any indication, then it will be here a while. It is a family owned place with that down home feel. The menu reflects the type of personal place this is. I think next time i will try the pork chops. Definitely a place i will try again read more

Ate there twice, got sick twice. Enough said! May be due to processed additives, same reason I can't eat at Olive Garden, Chili's, Appleby's & most other "convenience" restaurants. read more

Quaint little spot in a nice little area. Parking lot was full, that's usually a good sign. A short wait when we get walked in on a Sunday around noon. Got seated. Camry (like the car) was our server, she goes above and beyond. She kept our beverages full, and came by to check on us plenty. A shining star, you're appreciated. The food was ordered and came out quickly despite the after church bustle and hustle. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich, it was pleasant. My dining date had a burger. We both cleaned our plates, meaning the food smacked. Thank you Camry for taking good care of us, and the table next to us, she literally spent 5-10 minutes on her hands and knees leveling out the table for the party next to us.. above and beyond. Exemplary service award read more

I saw some not so great reviews, but my kid chose this place for the bacon cheese fries. Simple plate of fries with cheese sauce and bacon bits, nothing fancy, but still good. I ordered 1/2 lb peel and eat shrimp with fried okra, corn nuggets, and hushpuppies. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of shrimp. All of it had good flavor. Kid ordered plain cheeseburger with fries. They complained it had too much flavor. I took a bite and it tasted like a good beef burger to me. (Their tastebuds must be messed up from fast food burgers.) Service was quick, and server was very nice. read more

I had a long day and needed someplace to have a drink. I was walking and came across cow Bar north hills. I was greeted by the most beautiful smile. Her name was Ta'Tanisha, What a friendly intro. I just wanted to take a few mins. to show my appreciation and I hope every time I come in, I'm greeted by ta'tanisha, she was great and she knows how to make a drink. Sincerely Tanya read more

Food is good, service is terrible.!! They bring out your food and after that you won't see the waitress again.

We stopped by for lunch. Information on Yelp said they are open. Their sign says they are closed. Many restaurants in Elkin close on Monday. So, I recommend you call ahead before you make a special trip to dine here. read more

My wife and I were looking for a lunch place in the area and picked the Cowboy Restaurant. Not knowing what it was, we decided to visit. We envisioned a bar/restaurant theme and were mistaken. It's like a mom and pop diner from the 60's Midwest. Clean interior and nice staff. Served promptly and any questions we had, the server answered them. I had the fried fish and my wife had chicken. The food was plentiful and prices fair. A nice place to enjoy lunch. read more

Always great food and consistent "we are glad you are here" service. Wide menu selection and items always well prepared. And every item reasonably priced. read more

The popcorn shrimp was fresh and cooked just right. The best popcorn shrimp that I have eaten in a long time.

A solid three, which is not bad. The service was great. The food arrived quickly. Orders included a club sandwich. It looked scrumptious! It's recipient described it as ok, but the bread not toasted enough. Two ordered the sirloin steak. It was reportedly good, not great, but good. I ordered the sautéed chicken with vegetables over rice. It was flavorful but came with a small amount of rice and was a bit too greasy. I feel this is overall not my food preference and add my observation of the restaurant would indicate happy patrons. read more

The food was delicious! Ribs had a great flavor and were falling off the bone. I asked for them without sauce, as I like to taste the meat and not all the sauce. We also got the Philly Cheesesteak. It overflowed the hoagie roll, filled with meat, fresh peppers and onions, covered with cheese! The service was fast and friendly and the was very resonable. read more

After driving around Elkin for a place to eat, we came upon Cowboy Restaurant and are so glad we decided to stop in. Our waitress (I wish I had remembered her name) was amazing! She was incredibly sweet, attentive, and efficient. All of our orders were brought out quickly and were accurate. We each enjoyed what we ordered, particularly the ribs which were very tender. In addition, the portions were large, the food was cooked how we requested it, and we were given a complimentary bloomin' onion (which was delicious)! read more

Tried this restaurant a few years ago, when it first opened, I was very disappointed, went back a few years later, and was pleasantly surprised, over the last year we've eaten there several times, with very few problems, the staff is very friendly, and for the most part the food is good, and they do have cold beer, which is always nice read more

Food was great, no AC. Sweating in my plate. May come back in January, may not be heat then.

When we walked in we were disappointed in the appearance. We were not expecting much from the food. Boy were we wrong. The food was outstanding. My wife and I ordered different items from the menu and she and I both were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. The service was good too. The only reason for not five stars was the setting. read more

I can't speak to what the restaurant atmosphere is like since my first time eating here was during the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020. However, an employee dropped off a business card at our office and said they would deliver for free if we had 7 or more orders. We were in desperate need of something different, so we gave it a try! Best. Decision. Ever. We have ordered 3 times now and the food is always delicious and the orders are correct. I haven't heard one negative comment from any of my coworkers and we all want to order at least weekly now! Great food! read more

Great food and service, deep fried banana peppers are delicious shrimp plates are good and plenty. I highly recommend this place

Food and atmosphere were subpar. Defiantly not a "steakhouse". Taste was good but nothing special. Prices to high for the style of dining.

This was my family's first trip to Cowboy's, and we will be back, very soon! The service was fantastic. We had a big group and we were quickly seated and waited on. We also received 2 complementary Blooming Onions; which was such a nice gesture, plus they were delicious. Our food came out quickly, and it was very good. Everything I tried (we all had to try a bit of each other's plates) was excellent. The meatloaf was amazing, as was the cooked cabbage (such great flavor). My son, who is very picky ate everything on his plate! Thanks for such an amazing lunch, can't wait to visit again! read more

New place in town, wanted a steak, they had a special, so we decided to give it a try. Started out decently with a blooming onion. It wasn't the best, but the dipping sauce was good. Kids plates are decently priced and all three of the kiddos with us had no complaints at all. The salads we three adults got as sides did come out before the meal and were larger than your normal side salad. Plus the homemade ranch was good. The trouble came with the three adult steak specials which were 12oz ribeyes for $17. We ordered two medium rare and one medium. The medium was mostly fine except for a few more raw areas that my mother in law chose not to eat, but overall she said her's was good. My husband and I ordered the two medium rare ones. They weren't just rare, they were cold to the touch. So we sent them back to be cooked a little more. They came back well done. Not even a bit pink. My husband said the taste was good even though the cook wasn't right, so he ate his. I just couldn't do it. I sent it back again and they were nice about it. They took my entire meal off the ticket and gave us a 25% discount for the entire ticket, but that was only after speaking to the manager. Overall, just not what you want when you're trying to have a nice meal out as a family and spending your hard earned money. We won't be going back. read more

Excellent quality and service. I got my food quickly and didn't need to remind them that my tea was about to be empty. Very nice staff and friendly atmosphere. I'll be back next time that I am in the area. BTW, they have desert too so don't leave with an empty place in your stomach. read more

The meat is excellent - VERY tender and tasty ribs. However, they need a new veggie vender. The cheesy potatoes were cold and just nasty tasting. The baked potato, okra, and corn were all good. The waitress we had never refilled our drinks, never removed the dirty dishes, and spent time talking to customers she knew rather than taking our desert order. I generally leave 20% or more because I have been a waitress before, so I know what it's like. I haven't had service this bad in a while. I left her a penny, because that is what she earned. read more
