Went here twice while I was in town doing some sightseeing. Me and my family absolutely loved it. The seating area is clean and super cute for lots of photo opportunities. They even have a claw machine that you can play or just buy the plushies from. The drink itself was great too, I appreciate the variety in sizing. First day I got a normal original cow milk tea and the second I got it less sweet, it's good both ways! Both days the boba was flavorful and fresh too!! Amazing quality all around. So I've said before, I'm not a big milk tea person. I really do prefer the iced tea style like green tea and passion fruit. But I stopped in here and decided to give it a try. I ordered the Thai Green Tea with boba. I mean the boba is the best part right?! It was good. Wow, I was really impressed with this place! It recently opened back up and I knew I had to try it out. I ordered a large passion fruit tea with tapioca and a special bánh mì for pick up. You currently get 10% for pick up. You can either pay with card, Venmo, or Zelle so that made things convenient. The bubble tea was delicious- sweet and tangy. I also loved how chewy and soft the bubbles were. 10/10 would recommend. It was a little pricey but you get the cute cup so why not??? The bánh mì was pretty good too. Desperate for some boba tea after the local store had been shut down for two months, we found out that Cow Bubble Tea (across Main St from the UB South Campus) was open! Call ahead to place your order by phone, wait the estimated time and then enter the store and wait behind the Barricade made from folding tables. Eventually one of the staff will come out and get your name and check on the order stasis. Unfortunately we had to wait longer because the phone order had been misheard (they added lychee jelly to the Thai Tea rather than understand it as it's own drink order). The prices were about usual and portions were quite good. The Thai Tea - especially with the lychee jelly - was quite good! The Thai Tea wasn't too sweet and made a good balance with the tapioca. The strawberry and coco lychee were said to have needed more ice. Especially the strawberry since the flavor was apparently quite thick. An interesting note on the coco lychee was that it used what tasted like actual pieces of lychee rather than the lychee jelly. A much different texture and a bit more intense flavor. It was an unusual drink that was worth experiencing, although perhaps not a drink that would be a regular purchase. Between the long wait, the phone mishap, and the low rating that the strawberry tea receiving from the person who drank it, I'm giving Cow Bubble 3 stars. It had some highs to be sure but areas where improvements might be found. Give them a visit if you've been craving bubble tea too! read more

I was recommended this place by my friend and I decided to give it a try. Currently, this place only does takeout due to the pandemic and they maintain social distancing though a barricade set up made with tables. I ordered ahead before leaving my home and everting was ready and prompt when I got there. They have unique menu items that other Local Bubble tea shops don't offer, which I have yet to try but I will be returning to try those. They also have small snacks here such as cha shiu, bahn mi, dumplings, etc. which I think are great! The reason I am giving this place 4 stars is because unfortunately my Thai milk tea tasted powdery. I was excited to see that the UB South area was getting another bubble tea cafe, and that this one would be in University Plaza, very convenient if you're already in the plaza for errands. (I like Lucky Koi nearby, but they don't open until 2 pm, which doesn't work for me since I generally take my lunch break around noon.) I'm not a bubble tea novice, but I do find the Cow Bubble Tea menu confusing. I chose the summer tea from the mixed drinks section of the menu, thinking it already had toppings/mix-ins included, but then was asked to choose toppings. My husband got the spring tea, and had the same experience. I consider myself more of a bubble tea purist, and prefer tapioca pearls over jellies and popping boba, but if you like all of that stuff, Cow Bubble Tea seems like the place for you. The tea was fine, but it didn't seem like there was that much of it in the regular size, since there was also a lot of ice, and the toppings and fruit pieces. I had a hard time getting to all of the toppings and fruit once I finished all the tea. The peach pieces that come with the summer tea were way too large to slurp up through the straw, so it wasn't a convenient to-go order to take back to work with me. The wait time for our drinks did seem kind of slow considering it looked like three employees were doing drinks, and two were managing food assembly. But since I was there on their second day of business, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they're still training their staff. Maybe I just ordered the wrong drink on this first visit of mine, and would do better with other options on their menu. Given their convenient location and better hours (aka, actually open when I take my lunch), I'll return. And if they added a vegetarian banh mi option to their menu, I'd be even happier. read more

Don't waste your money. I paid 7 bucks for small and it was even not worth it for just a powder drink that was not even tasty. This is Buffalo and not LA! Clearly they're trying to rip off their young customers. Even bubble tea places in Rochester are only 4.50. I could get a large fresh fruit drink in Toronto for 7 bucks with bubble and extra toppings. Now that is worth 7 bucks to me. Nothing about the drink taste any better than other places to make it ok for that price. Bubble tea in NY is nothing to write home about as we are limited in choices but it seems like they are taking advantage of this limited supply. The decor is rather kiddish. Come here and use your STUDENT DISCOUNT! I've been here several times and I'm definitely a fan. The most recent visit really impressed me because they were open to accepting my reusable bubble tea tumbler. I had stopped going to a cheaper bubble tea cafe near this location because they rejected my tumbler even when I have used it before at that cafe. So Cow is one of my "regular" places since they care more about good customer service. Even with the 5% student discount, my large bubble tea with pearls at Cow is about $5.25-5.50 for a large, while at the place that I referred to above would be ~$4.75-$5 for the same thing. Honestly, the extra few cents is not going to kill my bank (even as a student) so there's no reason to worry about the price if I can leave happy paying a little more for a hard-working small business. I'd rather PAY 50 cents MORE each time to have my tea taste MUCH BETTER than another place a mile away. Quality over quantity. You can pay less somewhere else, but expect your bubble tea to taste watery or not as authentic. Another thing that is amazing is that Cow is the ONLY place I know in Buffalo with Brown Sugar Bubble tea and it was AMAZING! Highly recommend it. I've had a few of their Vietnamese banh mi. Price isn't bad for Buffalo but the quality of the banh mi itself was also pretty good. Another thing that I love is that they change the decorations frequently, it shows that they really care about their decor and want to make it open and inviting for their customers. Even though they just opened a few months ago, they seem very open to changing and being better. Who doesn't love an "Instagram-able wall"? Lastly, I saw on social media that they are giving free samples to UB students. I think it's amazing that they are using their time and resources wisely but the fact that they are reaching out to the community to branch out is amazing. Not many places would give out free samples in the first place. I would give this place overall a 4.25/5 but I will round up because I'm a huge believer that they will become one of the top bubble tea places in Buffalo even when it opened later in the game.
