You check yourself in. It's all pretty simple. There isn't always someone working the front desk. So, if you have questions... expect to wait. Otherwise it's a good experience. Unless you are afraid of needles. My phlebotomist was Arie and she was AWESOME!!! One poke and no pain! She got it on the first try! No bruise! Which isn't always the case! (Which is why I am glad I don't have Kaiser anymore!) I will definitely come back to this location again.

So thank you to the staff here. But if I had come in any later I doubt I would have gotten in. I had to fast for my blood testing and also this weird breath test thing I had to do. I didn't wake up and not drink even a drop of water or brush my teeth for nothing. So yes I am very thankful they let me in. Blood tests are fast. The breath test took some waiting of certain amounts of time pre and post drinking of a special drink you have to drink. Its was really easy and streamed lined and I was out very fast. I have to come back for further follow up testing and yes, I made an appointment.

I was hesitant to utilize Quest Diagnostics for lab work due to all the poor reviews. The…read morereceptionist was a tad short in tone, but she was efficient and helpful. The phlebotomist (Mariana? Italian lady) was absolutely a charming delight. She drew blood painlessly and quickly, and she was engaging and so sweet. I did have an appointment, and they honored me before those that were there before me. I appreciate that since I did make the appointment and have to return to work. I was in and out in fifteen minutes.

I was sent here from Muir Health from across the street. There were two lab orders. Upon…read morearriving I gave both lab orders to the receptionist at the front desk. I gave her my new and current insurance card. They pulled up my old health insurance plan in their computer which was gone for two months. I told them to process the claim under the new insurance plan because that one was the one that was the most current. The technician draws blood and there was a large hematoma at the injection site for several days afterwards. The size was over 3 inches. Then I get the results from the two lab orders. One was never performed because they dropped the vial of blood and it broke on the floor. The insurance company sent me an explanation of benefits for the claim submitted to them for my service here from 3/25/26. The claim was processed by this office using my old insurance which i clearly told them was no longer being used or paid for because my employer put me on a new plan with better benefits. I told them to process the claim using my new insurance. They did not listen and used the incorrect information from my old plan. The health plan should not be paying for a claim this way. This was my first and last time I go here for any blood work. If they send you here from across the street from the hospital or urgent care go somewhere else.

Overall the clinicians we interacted with are 5 stars. And did good work…read more The reason for the 3 star rating is the staff at the front desk when entering through the main entrance. They sit and scroll on their cell phones while family members stand there looking at them and waiting. This is a hospital and cellphone scrolling should not be allowed when family members are checking in to visit family. Also, the rude tone and eye rolling when taking ID is unnecessary and wrong to do considering it is a Hospital and not the DVM. Aside from Yelp reviews patients do have the option of filling out the survey they get via email from John Muir after they leave the hospital.

I was brought to the emergency room by my roommate because I was having chest pains, could not…read morebreathe, and was feeling numb on one side. I was extremely out of it and struggling to communicate. The security guard at the front began my interaction with this hospital with rolling her eyes at me as I struggled to get my I.D. out and loudly saying things I was having trouble comprehending. I was obviously disoriented and it seemed to take too long for her to gather that and get me into the hospital. I certainly was not in any state to do anyone any harm, I could barely work my hands or walk steady. I was again met with eye rolls inside, asking my name and date of birth when I just gave it at the door. I gave it again to her and then waited, after a few minutes that felt like forever I began to panic making it worse. I was the only one there and feeling like I was dying, I wondered why isn't anyone taking me seriously? I felt like nobody was treating this like it could even possibly be an emergency and began getting frustrated and asking if I am going to be able to see someone quickly. The receptionist just rolled her eyes and didn't answer, she said they will let you know if it's an emergency. I was really taken aback by the lack of empathy. Then the next person asks my name and date of birth again. I give it they say I am giving it too fast and panicking. I said I have given it to two people, I begin crying, struggling to breathe, and give it again. More eye rolls. There was still absolutely no attempt from any one of the staff to be empathetic or reassuring at this point. I do know about panic attacks and had experienced ones before, but this felt different and like a very real medical emergency. This is three people now who were so rude and mean to me on one of the most vulnerable times of my life, that I am ashamed for them. More waiting, and then a few cursory questions and eye rolls and I get asked my last period a few more times, even though I came in on my period. They took a pee sample and then seemed surprised and asked me, are you on your period? Oh we didn't need to take that sample. It seems they don't just communicate with one another there either. They were very nosey about my roommate, an elderly man, who brought me in. It's stupid, and so disgusting, to insinuate that I would have a partner that old. I needed a ride and he was there at home. The ladies there reminded me of the mean girls from my high school. The last person I saw, the doctor, at least did not roll his eyes at me and was not overtly condescending like the other staff I encountered there. He actually talked to me like a human. He did explain that it was a panic attack. I did mention that everyone there has made me feel stupid for coming in. He said, you still did the right thing by coming in. One of the nurses who had been rude to me was there and agreed with him, her tone suddenly seemed to have changed to much warmer with me. They then took a blood test and I did get good info from that to follow up on. I did have some medical things to look out for. That was the main silver lining of my visit. They gave me meds which brought me down quickly and made me fall asleep. I slept well that day. I am thankful for them, and for the medical care I received, but I do think having some bare minimum empathy should be required if you're going to be working in an emergency department. People are coming in some of the worst days of their lives, and at least not going out of your way to be rude and make fun of patients would really go a long way.

The person who received my call was very pleasant and nice. I was able to schedule an appointment at my home for the blood draw the following morning. The person who I spoke with, Bernadeth, explained the blood draw procedure and told me she would be at my house at 8 AM the following day The following day I received a text from Bernadeth telling me that she was on her way. Bernadeth arrived at my house a little early and messaged me if it was OK to do the blood draw now. I told her it was fine. I opened the door and was met by Bernadeth who was dressed appropriately and in fresh scrubs. Bernadeth presented me with her business card and politely asked if she could come in. She entered my house and asked me if there was a place I felt comfortable for the blood draw. I directed her to my kitchen. Bernadeth was very professional, put on rubber gloves, laid out a sterile pad on my kitchen table, and explained the procedure to me. Bernadeth found a vein she liked and carefully cleansed the area where the needle was to enter my vein. Bernadeth's skill in placement of the needle was fantastic and I didn't even feel the poke nor any pain at all! After the draw, Bernadeth placed the needle in a sharps container, gathered all the equipment she had used for the blood draw, and put them into a plastic bag. Bernadeth explained the procedure for the results, thanked me, and left my house. I would like to pass on that the level of professionalism, communication, attention to detail, and sanitation and safety practices were greater than I expected. The in-home service was so convenient for me and the cost was extremely fair compared to if I had to travel to a clinic for a blood draw. Nevertheless, I highly recommend Lay Lab for any blood draw procedures you may need!

This is an incredible service for anyone who is sick, homebound, or simply unable to get what they need done at a lab. In my case, the lab actually wouldn't do the bloodwork I needed to donate a kidney, so having someone come to me made the whole process possible. Charity was professional, very communicative, and incredibly gentle and kind during the draw. She made me feel at ease and took care of everything (she came to my house, drew my blood and even took my bloodwork to FedEx for dropoff) I plan on using her services in the future not only for myself, but also for my kids. Having someone trustworthy and skilled come to the house is such a relief! Highly recommended.
