The women who worked there were very sweet and cheerful. I was able to find jeans that fit me for just over $100. They also have really pretty costume jewelry, purses, jackets, and really pretty dresses. The quality of the clothes chosen for the store are beautiful and well made. Everything was in fashion and they had a variety of clothes to fit different shapes and sizes. I am short. Most of the stores I would love to buy things from have only clothing made for tall and extra tall. This place did not disappoint. Jen, the saleslady found jeans in a moment's notice and they fit perfectly. This is a lovely woman owned new shop that deserves your attention. I am impressed!

Again, I went online to buy the belt at a lower price than I would have paid at the store. The store is beautifully arranged with contemporary women's clothing, bags, jewelry, and accessories, as well as some home/gift items like pillows, candles, and more. The clothes are grouped in color families, which really makes for such a pleasant shopping experience. I tried on a handful of items and found a summer sweater to take home. But it was my latest visit today that prompted…read moreme to sign up for a Yelp account, just so I could share my thoughts about this store and its owner. To be honest, I am really not one to write reviews on businesses...and even if I've had a bad experience - tend to just shrug it off. But I'm still thinking about my visit today and feel compelled to write a review. There was no one else in the store, and I was not greeted upon entering. I had been in the store a few minutes, and I heard 'hello'. I looked over and smiled - thinking the owner was saying hello to me. But she actually was saying hello to an older woman that came into the shop. The owner was so friendly with this other customer, I wondered if she even knew I was in the store. Feeling a little sheepish - I continued to browse the racks. Then, a group of 3 women came in and she had a warm hello for all of them as well. Apparently, she had already pulled some items for them and set up dressing rooms prior to their arrival. I found a couple of items to try on and went to the back to ask for a room. She ignored me at first. No one was in the 2nd dressing room - but she tried to put me in the storage closet. I actually had my 14 month old son in an Ergo carrier...and she wanted to put us in a storage closet with tons of things that could fall on him. She finally relented and let me in the dressing room, but only after I promised that I wouldn't take too long. (I only had 2 sweaters to try on.) The owner treated me as if I was a burden to her. She did not want to spend any time helping me, any time to even greet me, and just seemed simply irritated that I was even in the store - wanting to try something on. I would recommend crossing the street and going to Gala. They are always so gracious and welcoming...not to mention they have the most beautiful and precious things for sale. (That's exactly what I did today...and I picked up a beautiful Chan Luu necklace and scarf.) Lastly, I wanted to mention that there is a small dog in Nicolette. (I didn't notice it at all, as she was in a bag behind the counter.) I found this out on my first visit about a month ago. My husband and son came into the store while I was browsing. My husband let my 14 month old son stand on the floor. He was not even walking around - just standing. The dog started barking and then charged at him. Thanks to my husband's quick reflexes, my husband scooped up my frightened son - and thankfully he was not harmed. I also want to mention that I was never greeted, nor did the owner speak to me the entire time I was in the store. Only when her dog almost bit my son did she say anything to us. She never apologized, only stating that her dog "loves" kids. My son was not hurt, and it could have been worse. So I just chalked this up to maybe not a good day. But now after my 2nd visit, I should have seen signs of the way the owner conducts business and treats people (even babies) in general. Again, she never apologized. She never even acknowledged my husband or myself...she just kept trying to show us that her dog really likes kids by sticking her dog in my baby's face. My husband was gracious enough to allow her to do this, but I wish we just got out of there like bats out of hell. That's what I felt like then - and how I felt after my 2nd visit to Nicolette.

SONAS: snuggled sort of in between Gestalt Haus and the COFFEE ROASTERY. (Sans the character who used to wear nothing but pink terry cloth short shorts who would hang on the corner daily.) A groovy little store with maximum use of minimal space. Hip aesthetic, kind of like the British invasion meets Robert Graham on the way to a little modern day "Liberace-esque" style without the candelabra?! Not exactly the right gear for my body or my style as I'm sort of a self-proclaimed hetero "POLO Queen". I'm kind of locked in that chino slacks, Weejun loafers, old school preppy look. A very welcoming, friendly proprietor named GERRY holds down the set very well. It's a great haberdashery (maybe "boutique" is apropos as they have men's and women's clothing) for that evening out in the city at a rock concert just hanging out in general. An OASIS for Burning Man folk or the Marin County corporate attorney preparing for a weekend of debauchery! JIMI on one wall mirrored by PRINCE on the other with Gerry sporting a sort of iridescent blue tie with the words "KIND OF BLUE", a nod to Miles. A trifecta, three of my favorite musicians! Kind of reminds me of "famous4" in Mill Valley, but with a keener eye. I shall return one day and pick up something- maybe as a gift. Or, when I wanna "take a walk on the wild side".
