The front desk staff rushed and rude. She didn't even explain the wifi code, the check out time, and so on. She just handed me the key and said nothing. It was very rushed and I felt disrespected. The management needed a improvement on service! Other than the staff, I would say the hotel was nice, but the room had a little tiny TV which bothered me as well. This review is mainly for the cafe in the hotel. This place needs some serious management intervention. When I went here, they didn't have any oatmeal and were unwilling to make more. They didn't have soy milk for their dry cereals and they don't stay open for lunch. FYI for those counting on them being open. Plus, they always look closed since the person manning the station is always in the back and you have to yell yoohoo to get them to come out. The hotel on the otherhand is quite lovely. Facility is new and very clean. Service was rude upon registration and non-existent afterward. Breakfast was OK if you like fried foods and loads of carbs, not good for people on special diets. Beds and pillows are extremely NOT- comfortable and even caused back pains for the rest of the week. Wireless internet is not very good for work. Air conditioner units work fine but are very noisy. Train comes next to hotel during the night and blows its horn often. Otherwise the hotel is pretty and very clean. read more

More Cons than Pros. Check in at 10:30pm. I asked if they had a restaurant. They do but it closes at 10pm. Asked if I can get room service. They don't have it until 7am. So you are stuck with whatever they have at the "market." Our room comes with breakfast but we are entitled to ONLY 1 Continental Breakfast. There were 3 of us. Very limited breakfast menu to choose from also. Ice machine on the 2nd floor was broken! What's up with the TINY TV in the room? My Computer Screen is bigger! They doubled the rate because of the Tahitian Competition. The Pros: the staff was friendly and accepted the fact that this was a second rate service MOTEL that they are working at. Super convenient and comfy hotel when in Merced. We're here once a year for the Annual Kiki Raina held at the Merced County Fairgrounds every Spring so we were so happy to experience this new hotel. Free internet and free printing in the business center downstairs. Front desk staff are professional and friendly. The $7 breakfast buffet was a great highlight (make your own belgian waffles!) and you can help yourself to coffee, tea or hot chocolate anytime of the day. Just off main street - can't recall, but I actually think it's called Main Street (!) - into downtown Merced (you know, where the Starbucks is!). We slept comfortably. One awkward thing was the way our bathroom door opened right into the front door - just be careful. See you next year Courtyard! read more

If you are looking for a place to relax and rest this is not the place to stay. The hotel it's very close to the highway and the room doesn't have soundproof Windows. You feel every little noise. When the train pass like every 3sh, beside the noise you can feel the floor shaking. Another thing, it doesn't include breakfast. Pros: it look brand new hotel. But I doesn't matter how beautiful it is if you can't have a good rest and sleep. read more

Pull out bed was really uncomfortable and I was bit by bed bugs but the service was good and the food surprisingly delicious for a hotel.

The hotel itself is quite nice. Rooms are clean and nice looking. Bathroom is relatively spacious. But for the avid gym goer, the fitness room is seriously lacking...just 2 treadmills, 1 elliptical, and a few RANDOM weights. For example, weights jump from 15 to 25 pounds with nothing in between. Very poor selection of weights. Also, there is no mat to stretch on while the floor is very hard. read more

I stayed here for a business trip to UC Merced. I truly appreciated the check-in staff. They were very efficient and smiled. Seemed to really care about their job. The room was a little damp/stuffy. Good sized bathroom and very quiet at night. I had a room that was not facing the highway. Location is a bit remote from the university but I think most all the of the hotels in the city are located on the southern end near highway 99. I would recommend to guests in the area. Really liked their indoor pool. Good size for lap swimming (as long as no kids are around). I paid $99 for UC Merced rate which I thought was reasonable for this hotel (as they didn't include breakfast). read more

Great value for the price. For the level of the hotel it's worth it. The beds were very comfortable. The room was really clean and neat. Flat screen tvs in each room and a couch. The breakfast is a great value as well. For $8 you get the breakfast buffet (warm and cold) and they even make your eggs/omelets to order. It's probably the nicest place in Merced. If you're looking for comfort go here. If you're in the military be sure to mention it and show your ID; half off the room price! read more

When I am in the area for business - I often stay at the Courtyard Marriott. It's pretty clean and modern and rooms are spacious. The suites are usually sold out, but I do try to book them if they are available. The Bistro is a bit pricy and food is decent and the busienss center area is convenient. There are multiple computers and printer available. I think this is one if the nicest hotels in Merced, so I don't go anywhere else!! Pricing is fair considering you would pay more anywhere else for this standard of quality. My kids have enjoyed the heated indoor pool and hot tub several times over the years. Even the front desk person is always pleasant and helpful and trust me I take notice!!! Overall it may be a 3 star hotel but definitely 5 stars in Merced. It's right off highway for easy access. Haha. I sound like a walking advertisement but after staying here for years it's time I write a review. This is our go to. read more

We had a great eating experience here at the Marriott's bistro. Wife and I had the French dip roast beef sandwich with Aju. Delicious. Saturday afternoon, June 2nd, my truck broke down on State Route 99, north of Merced. Repairs could not be made until Monday, June 4th. I stayed two nights at the Courtyard Merced. All good. I watched every TV channel they had. I ate several times at their cafe on the first floor. My room was clean and quiet. Their staff was friendly and polite. Thank you, Courtyard Marriott. read more

The hotel was a good choice considering nearby options. We rented the king room, it was clean and inviting. Other people have commented the door to bathroom opens oddly (because the door from hallway is right there) and its hard to get used to. During our stay, we used the pool and hot tub and found both to be in good shape. We also had breakfast at the bistro, it was very good worth the convenience! Out of the whole experience, the only negative I found was the bed itself; the mattress seemed old. I woke up uncomfortable and so did my husband. I rate it 4 stars even though the bed could have been better because everything else was up to par and comfortable. read more

So it's a very nice looking renovated hotel and the staff are nice enough but the rooms are over $100 a night in a pass through town with no complementary breakfast!! I will never stay at a Marriott again it's a super waste of money all the way around. read more

I am posting this from my mobile network bc this place has no wifi. I have 2 iPads, an iPhone and a lap top and none of them stay connected for more than 20 minutes or so. It's hecka frustrating when you're tying to work but even more so when you trying to watch HOC. I've been here for 2 weeks. At least in this room I can use Sprint. Otherwise I'd have no cable and no interwebs. Did I mention there's no cable here? 2017 and no cable. Don't waste $160 on a room. Next time I'll just sleep in my car. read more

I have three major problems with this hotel. One, the bathroom door will not stay open by itself. Two, the hair dryer is weak, even on the 'high' setting. Three, we could hear the people above us stomping around and opening and closing doors (the very distinctive sound of putting the security bar across the jamb to keep the door open and the door closing on it). I complained both nights about it and nothing was done. The fact that I could hear that downstairs is bad enough. Other than that, the hotel was clean, beds were comfortable, shower was good, internet service was free and the free coffee was good. read more

Booked two nights here for a little adventure to Yosemite. Though the hotel was nicely upgraded compared to others I've been to, it lacked in some areas. The walls were super thin so I could here my neighbors and the mammoth stomping above us which was annoying at times. Although I never noticed, my best friend said the train nearby kept waking him up during the night. The gym is fairly small, but the indoor pool area was decent and had a jacuzzi. The dinning area with the bar/restaurant/Starbucks was nice and definitely upgraded. The breakfast was delicious, but the dinner options need improvement on both quality and taste. Also, there are only three floors so it can get full quickly. The staff was very nice, including the housekeeping which is always great. Would recommend if you can get pass the thin walls :( read more

We stayed for one night, a Friday in March. The hotel makes a great first impression. The lobby is open, airy, contemporary and inviting, with an open bistro, large and comfortable lounge. The staff is friendly and professional. Our second floor room was also comfortable and nicely appointed. We thought we'd lucked into a real winner. We were wrong. The walls are incredibly thin and you can hear everything happening in the rooms around you. Every door slam. Every toilet flush. Every TV show. Every orgasm and fart. As if that wasn't bad enough, you can also hear the trains rumbling through during the night. We had a hard time getting to sleep and were awakened before dawn by doors slamming, people talking, showers running, and someone watching CNN news. Unless you have a sleeping pills, or are an insomniac, I'd avoid this hotel. read more

This is a so-so property in the Courtyard brand. It has all the amenities, features, and decor you expect in a Courtyard, just it's too expensive for the location. By "location" I mean a) Merced, and b) next to a freeway offramp. Being next to the freeway is good, in the sense of quick access to and from the motel. But it's not good, in the sense of there being a lot of noise, no view at all, and not a great feeling of security. read more

LOVE the courtyard Marriott! when we have to travel for business and stay in merced, CA, this is where we stay. big points for davies gate products (who knew the courtyard could get such good products?), free coffee/tea/hot chocolate, business center, and $7 all you can eat breakfast buffet. i love that buffet! also they're very hard core about non-smoking rooms and it was just built so everything is nice and new. service is very nice as well. i wish the TVs were placed in a better place that would be more conducive for watching TV in bed but that's about the only thing i can complain about the courtyard. read more

What a disappointment. Ants in the bath, a cold shower and overcharging were the worst part. Mediocre appointments past their prime and internet connections that were intermittent didn't help either. I always love it when sheets don't fit right and keep coming off the bed - classy! The breakfast was included in our room rate and they subsequently charged for breakfast - I wonder how often they try that? The breakfast itself wasn't worth the surcharge - few choices and mediocre quality. Outside lighting seems aimed directly at guest rooms. Elevator was usually busy and slow to respond (probably because of staff use). All that for the highest room cost in Merced - Way to Go! read more

While this was definitely the nicest hotel in Merced, our experience was mediocre at best. Card Reader for the door didn't work most of the time. Had to unload the entire load from the back of our truck for fear someone would steal all of it? Under the recommendation of the staff at the front desk. No towels at the pool, had to wait a LONG time. So much chlorine in the pool your eyes burned walking into the pool area. On a positive note, the staff was friendly, and the bistro breakfast was wonderful. read more

I wasn't expecting much because of it's location and it being a Courtyard property, but the hotel was clean, the staff was professional and accommodating, allowing us to check in hours before official check in time. I appreciated that the hotel has a bistro on site that sells coffee, snacks,etc which is extremely helpful and convenient, The price was cheap and I felt like this hotel offered more amenities than hotels in much large metro cities I've stayed at. I doubt I'll be back in Merced anytime soon, but I would for sure recommend this hotel. read more

It's a decent hotel. It is right next to HWY 99 so you will hear the road noise all day/night. The AC unit will also turn on and off all night and that can be annoying to some. They are doing construction in the stair wells and it looks like the walls are covered in mold. The customer service is ok, and the food is decent but a bit pricy. read more

This place is absolutely disgusting! My family has been coming to stay at the Marriot to visit me while I'm in school for the past 2 years and we loved going to the Bistro here until now. Today my parents and my younger brother went to go eat there and not only did the food take a long time to get out, but also when the food came out there was a living, crawling MAGGOT on my brother's plate. He had taken a bite into his burger saw the maggot and spit everything out. When my dad brought this to the attention of the cashier, he asked for a full refund because no one was going to eat their food now. The cashier took forever in getting the refund to him for whatever reason and when my dad complained about the long wait she went ahead and threw the money at his face! He asked why she did that and she said "I don't like your attitude" I don't see what kind of person could be so rude and stupid enough to treat a customer like that especially after serving them maggots. Would not ever recommend this place and will never be coming back. Hope this place gets shut down for health code violations. read more

This hotel claims to have high speed Internet, but they do not. Their wireless signal in the rooms is very weak and the wired doesn't even work. After asking for 3 days if they could help me fix the issue, I checked out when I felt I was being led on. When you actual do connect with a decent signal it drops connection regularly and doesn't get any faster than 2.5MB download. This hotel has below average customer service. I feel like the food service employees try very hard to please their guests, but the rest of the hotel makes empty promises. Only stay here if you don't care for or don't need Internet access. The food is beyond pricy (like most hotels) I recommend the Holiday Inn Express down the road for their complementary breakfast, decently prices rooms and friendly/helpful staff. read more

Just wanted to let you know that your Front Desk person, Frank, was rude and most unwelcoming!!! We arrived shortly after midnight and I had no idea he was the "check in" person as he did not say a word to us. I informed him that I was checking in and he asked for ID and credit card. I asked him if he wanted the ID of the person who booked it and the same credit card, as I would be using a different credit card. He stated that it didn't matter, he just needed them. Then he stated that our credit card was not working and that we should be prepared to give him another one. We asked him if there could be a chance that it was his terminal and not the credit card because we knew for a fact, that there was absolute nothing wrong with our card. His response was "I've been checking in people all day and I haven't had a problem with my terminal!" Enough said, he tried it again and it did not go through. Then he decided to use the next terminal and it went through. Without apologizing he gave us the room keys. He did not even go over the rate or anything with us NOR did he direct us to the elevator!!!! I said to him, "so it wasn't our credit card, was it?! It was your terminal, correct?" He ignored me. Then we asked for a later check out and said that he couldn't do 1pm, he could only extend it 30 minutes to 12:30pm. I don't know if he was mad and was trying to get even, because I've never been to any hotel, including a Marriott, where they did not a later checkout, especially if I was only requesting for a 1pm check out. What's ONE hour?!!!? Having said this, I will NOT be returning to this hotel for Frank was a complete unprofessional check in person and if he was having a bad night, he should NOT be taking it out on paying customers!!!! As a reminder, Kiki Raina is held every year in Merced and brings in $250,000 for that weekend alone. If you guys want to continue being part of this profit, I would highly suggest that you train your representatives to give some good customer service!!!! I left with a bad taste in my mouth after staying at this facility. In addition, the beds were very hard as were the pillows. For a hotel that was recently remodeled, it was not comfortable. read more
