I had an extremely disappointing experience checking in at Fairfield Inn. The three women working at the front desk made what should have been a quick, routine check-in unnecessarily difficult and uncomfortable. Instead of being helpful or welcoming, they went above and beyond in the wrong way--overcomplicating the process, creating tension, and treating the situation as if there was a problem when there wasn't. Their attitude came across as unprofessional and excessive, and it felt more like an interrogation than customer service. There was absolutely no reason for the level of pushback and lack of courtesy shown. Hospitality is about making guests feel welcomed, not frustrated before they even reach their room. read more

After our long day at soccer tournament, some parents were hanging out at the lobby and Jared came out to the lobby and told us that other customers were complaining and it was our last warning even though we didn't get a previous warning before this. Jared was rude and aggressive towards us when he gave us the warning. He was very unprofessional rolling up his sleeves as if he was trying to intimidate us. We were not loud and we were cognizant of the noise level. We did book a chunk of their rooms because we are a big organization however we don't plan on booking here again. read more

They are renovating and I stayed in one of the renovated rooms on the third floor. It was nice but pretty basic. Their lobby was being renovated in early December 2024 so they had plastic up and were noisy during the day. This location is right off the freeway which is convenient but the HUGE negative is the train that will wake you up three or four times a night. It is right there so it can't be avoided. Their breakfast is free which is nice but is just an egg dish, a meat and a waffle. They do have some yogurt and toast but it is pretty basic. Staff was nice but nothing exceptional it seemed like they were always doing something on the computer. read more

Room and breakfast were good, HOWEVER, had three nights of ZERO sleep due to practically being ON the train track and the train hauls through alllllll niiiiiiggghhht loooonnnnggg! Train conductors appeared to have a lot of fun tooting tunes and they rolled through every other hour. Had Marriott had any sort of option for me to move to another hotel after night one, I would have. Instead, my stay in Turlock turned into a nightmare with literally no more than two hours sleep each night. Also note, I am half deaf, wear hearing aids and even wore ear plugs the last night. If you're going to build a hotel on a train track, at least invest in the proper windows and acoustics. I've spent at least a dozen nights in hotels in the Modesto/Ceres/Turlock area over the past couple months and the train situation is definitely an issue for multiple hotels, but this was the worst experience BY FAR. This review is for parents who signed up for SAT exam at Pitman High School. We drove 100 miles here for the exam because simply there's nothing available in SF area. This hotel is amazing considering it's in Turlock. This is not a luxury hotel, but it has everything we needed. It's clean, it's safe with very helpful and friendly staffs. When we checked in, we realized majority of the people here are with their kids for the 8AM text the next morning. So I'd say this is a perfect a night before SAT hotel. We got the rest we needed, and they offered buffet breakfast. I can't complain. read more

Came out here to visit my friend and requested the wheelchair accessible room since my friend is disabled. It's probably the best room she has stayed in. People don't realize how hard it is to find a good hotel for handicapped folks so this was great. The location is IDEAL! Most things are walking distance. In n Out Burger, Sizzlers, Target, TJMaxx, gas station and much more. I like places that have things near by in the event you don't have a car which we did not. The staff here was so nice. Shout out to Victoria for making our check in process easy and pleasant. This place also offers breakfast in the morning and it doesn't disappoint. Eggs, bacon or sausage, bagels, toast, muffins, cereal, oatmeal... I mean, hello. The hotel is also quiet. When I return to visit my friend, we definitely plan to stay here again. read more

Stayed here recently for mothers day weekend. I mean I will be honest the hote is decent based on the area. We are in Turlock nothing luxurious around here. So expectations keep them low forsure. This ain't no beverly hills. Well anyways. Location of this hotel is so convenient. Right off the freeway, next to many shopping areas around the street example, red robbin, sizzlers, target, safeway and more. Plenty of parking! This hotel is clean, outdated but clean! As prior to working for marriott I checked cleanliness of our room and it was up to marriott expectations. Doors are a bit thin so you can hear whats going around the hallways so i highly suggest getting something away from the elevator if you are sensitive. As per, HVAC it is loud but I mean you can sleep thru it. My kids and I did good! It keeps the room nicr and chilly! The room has microwave/ refrigerator and there is an Ice Machine in the hallway. Windows are pretty thick you can't hear noise from outside. Breakfast is served daily. Plenty of options but didn't see any vegetarian options. Coffee station is the best! Staff is super friendly and professional. Oh and how did i forget the bed comfort, beds are your usual queen beds. Matttess is comfortable but pillows were terrible. From the time I checked in until the time I checked out the next day this particular property was much nicer and cleaner than most. Shout out to the Front Desk clerk who welcomed me and to the female employee in charge of the breakfast area which was nicely maintained. I even got a glimpse of the back room area where items are stored for restocking the breakfast area and it was very organized and clean. It's a decent spot and has all the basic amenities you would expect like free wifi. The rooms were clean and comfy. The location is pretty convenient and there are a lot of dining options in the area. First bait and switch on the room rate. Booked on line and was given the cost of the room. Upon arrival they up the price and don't honor the price on line. Iv heard some hotels do it as a scam to up sell the rooms. Room was small and crowded and lights in the room not working. The two stars are very fair due to the extremely loud a/c System. It sits about 3 feet from your bed and hard to sleep. It's not white noise. More like a loud train and does that off and on all nite. The rooms and hotel are clean and the staff is very responsive. They told me their a/c are very loud and that's how they are. Ear plugs were not the answers for me. I wouldn't stay there again as I got very little sleep. read more

Stayed here June 15th! Got vandalized on June 16th... But of course the hotel will not assume any responsibility for anything because they put up Signs saying so! The holiday inn and them share a security guard and they are staffed but not during the entire evening hours... no cameras on that side of the hotel! We got the call around 1120 am but someone reported it at 800 am! They have had problems with vandalism in the past few months.... a lot of smash and grabs! The security at the hotel told us as well as the cop taking my report! There was so much glass that we couldn't drive it! Had to stay an extra night to get the window fixed! No manager on duty over the weekend... none even was called and came for a report? When we checked out on Monday almost 900 am still no manager on duty!!! read more

Stayed there they moved me out of my room into another room which would have been fine, because I no longer needed the handicap room d\r to my husband's passing However they lost my items and refused to compensate me for them!! I stayed in room 107 a few weeks back. The room turned out to either have fleas or bed bugs as I woke up the next day and found I was all bit up, mainly around my ankles but I did have various bites on my thighs and lower back. I reported this to the hotel staff and asked to have management follow up with me which to this day they have not. Very disappointed with the Marriott, it is not the kind of facility I would expect this to happen at. Just be cautious and use your due diligence when checking into any room. I probably had over 40-50 total itchy bites which drove me crazy for the following week. read more

We usually stay in Merced when we come to visit family, as it's the closest hotel to them. However, this weekend, it was graduation at UC Merced, so there were no reasonable rooms in the nicer hotels where we stay. We had previously visited Turlock and were impressed with the business area near the freeway, including newer hotels, so we decided to book here. Check-in was easy. The rooms could use a little sprucing up, but they were comfortable and clean. Unfortunately, our room did not have a tub so my daughter with a leg injury was unable to bathe. I seem to find this more in Marriott properties. The breakfast was okay but not great. Instead of bacon or sausage, there was sausage gravy and biscuits. The staff had trouble keeping up with demand. One positive I will note is the proximity to many restaurants, and there is a supermarket up the block too. I felt comfortable walking there at night. This is a lot different from where we stay in Merced, where the nicer hotels are in a really bad part of town. I can see us returning in the future! read more

The only reason why I gave them 4 stars is because the beds are super worn out. I think they got the old school box spring with the spring mattress. The center is dented and is noticeable. They called me on the hotel phone in my room to make sure I had ordered a DoorDash meal before letting a stranger come to my room. Definitely recommend staying here. Also the beds are so comfortable. The hotel staff was very nice they had warm cookies at the check in which was a nice bonus after a long car ride. Rooms were clean and stocked well. Pool is small but kids still enjoyed it. The continental breakfast had a good variety and they had waitstaff on hand to help where needed. The only bad thing I would say is that occasionally you will hear the train pass by which can be loud and disruptive. It's a good central locations lots of shops and food near by. Clean(if somewhat dated) hotel with a nice heated pool, a small but serviceable fitness center and a spacious breakfast area(however, no breakfast is being served at this time). Nice, well-designed, fairly spacious rooms with microwave and mini-fridge. Like the majority of hotels; breakfast, room cleaning and other amenities have been scaled back drastically due to the Covid crisis. But that's OK. They do, however, have a bag breakfast available at the front desk. So, basically, it's just like every other hotel right now. Everything's scaled back, with just bare-bones amenities on offer. What makes this hotel worthy of five stars is the staff. The housekeepers are mostly very friendly and helpful, Maintenance and engineering guys are really nice, management is very friendly and everyone that works the front desk is just exceptional. We have been staying here off and on for the last few months, and this will continue to be our go to hotel in Turlock. Excellent! Highly recommended. read more

I have been a Marriott Rewards member for over 25 years and use Marriott properties exclusively. This Turlock CA Fairfield is the worst hotel I have ever had to deal with. I had a booking issue and the GM would not call me back or respond and after numerous phone calls finally pawned me off on the desk manager. The only reason they did call me back was because I called Customer Care and got a case #. Even then they had made up their mind and offered ZERO help. They are rude and offered no solution. They were more difficult to work with than trying to take a used car back to a used car dealer. Trust me, avoid this property. Go to Kingsburg or Modesto. Both of those Fairfield's are friendly and well run. Marriott is still the best. Just avoid Fairfield Turlock. You would be better off staying at a Hotel 6. read more

Stayed only for a night but was so pleasantly surprised. Easily booked the room using the hotel tonight app and arrived to a clean and pretty modern hotel. The room was bigger than I expected and really well stocked. Comfy bed and pillows, free wifi and a big spread for complimentary breakfast - 10/10 would recommend. read more

The hotel itself was nice clean and big rooms. With complementary coffee and a basic breakfast set up. I am only giving 2 stars based on the experience and incompetence of the front desk staff..... We stayed here over the weekend for a wedding. Arriving at a normal check in time of 3 pm to total chaos, there were 3 weddings happening the same day who had booked blocks of rooms. At 3 pm there was a long line to check in with only 1 person checking in. We had 3 rooms for my family all married couples but they only had 1 room ready because the others were all on late check out and "housekeeping had not gotten to them yet"?!?!? I guess we should have been grateful for getting a room at all because the lady in front of us had to wait in the lobby for an indefinite tome while her room was prepared. We were told after paying for our room that was not ready we could get the keys after the wedding...fine. After we got back the room we got were told we hadn't payed for by a rude blonde girl who was training some poor guy who was obviously uncomfortable with her attitude once we figured out she was wrong she told him to finish and pretended to do paperwork......we got to our room to find it locked from the inside because it had had been give away?!?! WTF?!?! The trainee was on his own when we got back to the front desk he figured it out quickly and got us a new room. read more

Update 6/17/17 Booked my go to hotel for an event in Turlock. When booking Marriott site did state hotel would be under construction. Upon arrival during heat wave 105 degrees, our room A/C didn't work. Repair guy said it was the third A/C issue for the day. Requested new room as we had been outside all day for pig show at fairgrounds. New room A/C worked great! Took the kids to the pool to cool off. Not sure why I keep forgetting how much the pool at this location sucks. It's very small and often gets packed w/softball and baseball tournaments in the area. Long time Marriott customer will now be staying at Holiday Inn Express which is right next store - better pool and better breakfast. Older reviews: Often stay at this Location for events in the area. Very convenient- can walk to a variety of restaurants as well as lots of shopping. Location very clean; inside and out. Love the beds. Updating Yelp reviews...somehow ended up with two accounts. There was GLASS on the bed. GLASS. ON. THE. BED. Upon reading the reviews, we were almost excited to spend the night in Turlock en route to Yosemite. An inexpensive, 4-star hotel in the middle of nowhere?? Yippee! We read about the car break-in, so parked right in front of the main entrance. Based on the posted photos we thought it would be glamorous; not so much. Standard lobby with electric green and blue carpets, a business center with in-need-of-upgrade computers (which crash if you try to print, so don't bother), some tables for your continental breakfast. We were put in a room on the 2nd floor, a cacophony of colors and stripes. The bathroom door, when open, blocked the exit (isn't that a fire hazard...?); the shower was large and the towels thin and scratchy. Still, after a couple of hours of driving, it was nice to take a hot shower and relax. Still in my scratchy towel, I went to lay on my bed, and - OW!!!! What the hell is this...? A piece of glass on my bed?? I know comforters are rarely cleaned, but this is dangerous. C'mon, Marriot. You are a hotel. As restaurants do food, you are supposed to do beds. It was after midnight and I was exhausted; our stuff was strewn all over the room and I hadn't the energy to haggle with the front desk to make my case, secure another room, pack up, and move. I carefully removed the blankets from the bed, felt around for any additional sharp objects, spent 30 minutes wrestling with the thermostat (hot and stuffy, now freezing cold, back to hot and stuffy), and finally crawled under the single sheet, defeated. I brought the offending sharp object to the front desk in the morning. "That's not glass," she said. "It's just a very sharp piece of plastic." What?!? SHARP THINGS PLUS COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF PUBIC HAIR ON THE BLANKETS SUGGEST THAT YOUR ESTABLISHMENT ISN'T CLEAN. Or Safe. Gross. Shame on you, Marriot, for skimping on safety, cleanliness, and customer service. read more

This is a convenient and clean hotel off Highway 99. It is pretty new and close to a lot of restaurants and shops. I came because I had a party to go nearby, and I live too far away to drive home. Thus, I did my research and found this hotel. It is 3 stories and breakfast and wireless are complimentary. Parking is easy as you are in the valley. I had a room on the second floor and it was pretty spacious. There was a LG flatscreen and the showerdoor was frameless. The room was clean and I didn't really have a problem with loud air conditioning. We also took a dip in the small pool, but it was big enough for the two of us. They also have a gym, which is tiny, but I saw treadmills. Anyway, it's pretty inexpensive and a good place to stay if you are in the area. read more

Very friendly & helpful staff. Our room was clean. Comfortable bed & comfortable pillows!! Separation of the room and little office/front room was very nice to have to relax and watch tv on the couch. The pull out bed on the couch was nice. Everything was nice, orderly & clean. The pool area was stocked with towels. The pool was never cold instead amazingly lukewarm the whole time! My family and I had an amazing time and can't wait to come back to this hotel! read more

CLEAN!! as soon as we walked into the lobby my toddler said "smells good in here", and it did, it smelled clean and fresh. the front desk agent was very professional and friendly. when we got to our room it was crisp and cold but felt great since it was 96 degrees. Bathroom smelled like it had just been cleaned too. we immediately went to the pool which had clean chairs, tables and no yucky residue on concrete.The manger came out later in the afternoon to restock towels. it was a great place to stay while visiting family. the breakfast has a lot of options with waffles, fruit, eggs, sausage and lots of pastries, great for my picky eaters and delicious coffee. will be staying here again. also a plus was sound I faced the freeway and heard zero car noise. While my traveling companion had some issues here with reservations, I have thoroughly enjoyed the property. They have a breakfast buffet, that seems ok; but I am morning Starbucks guy; so I never had anything here. The staff is extremely friendly and a pleasure to deal with; especially Irene. The rooms have flat screen TVs and comfy beds. There are some drawbacks to the property, but most are due to the chain overall: - The towels are rough and thin - Bathroom is cramped - Toiletries are low end They are located across the street from a Starbucks drive thru and close to other shops and restaurants in the area. Word of advice: They are in close proximity to Cal State - Stanislau and during the year there are a lot of visiting sport teams that come through town (Golf,Baseball,etc), perspective students and fill up the few nice properties in town: MAKE sure you have a reservation before showing up, especially Mon/Tu. Overall I would say this is one of the better properties in terms of quality and service I have stayed in @ this price point. I wish there was more to do in town like in Modesto, but if you are in Turlock: this is a great choice! read more

This was my second visit to a Marriott brand hotel and two needs improvements to a Marriott associated hotel. I stayed for business. Check-in was friendly, quick and helpful. Hotel room was comfortable equipped with an okay mattress, decent shower, and desk. Room was kept well by housekeeping staff and internet connection was intermittent okay throughout the visit. Hotel had a pool that I didn't check out. The rest of experience. I am out in Modesto for business and needed to print documents. Printer for hotel guests was not in order. Front desk tried to get IT to help but was provided it would be a day. Front desk tried to print the work papers for me and was directed to go next door to the other chain for printing. This was the first trip to a Marriott that not a printer was available to use. I would have to rely on other hotel chains if I have to schedule any of my five business trips in the year if this is what I should expect of a Marriott associated hotel. Gym was small and kept with respect to supplies to wipe the machines down. Nothing outstanding. This hotel offered a breakfast that was okay for the business travelers breakfast. Nothing spectacular but nothing bad. Hotel had flavored water in lobby that refreshing. Hotel had smell lingering from outside that trickled into the lobby at various hours through the day. Not a good smell. Suggestions for this hotel: Have a printer that works or hire better maintenance or IT staff. Possibly get some air refreshers to help reduce the smells from outside. Overall I would not recommend this hotel for a business traveler at this time. Three stars as I have experienced worse at another Marriott location. Nothing horrifically bad. read more
