Stayed here for a recent soccer tournament for the kids. We've stayed here a few times before for soccer too. This time I showed up super early to try getting an early check-in. Was told I had to wait until at least 12pm and they could check then. We left to do some shopping, came back around 12:30 and no rooms available still. So we sat in the lobby and waited and Victoria made sure to come get us when the first room opened up. She was a real pleasure to work with. I've been visiting family in Modesto for decades, and this is the first trip I've stayed at a hotel instead of in my family's home. I couldn't have chosen better than SpringHill Suites. My King Bed room was so cozy and had all the amenities I could hope for and then some. Next time I'll bring along some microwave popcorn! Each morning I'd head down to the buffet breakfast, and they changed up the protein each morning. I do love those solid scramble eggs that are so common at hotel buffets, but that quiche was delicious too. The waffles were so easy to make and somehow they didn't stick to the waffle iron. I like fool-proof. ;-) The gym is really well stocked with enough equipment for me to get a great mid-day workout. It might get a little crowded if there's more than 2-3 people, but it was empty when I used it. Charging my car was 3x as expensive as I usually pay, but it was convenient, and fast. Lots of free parking. I saw security several times throughout my stay, whether walking around the inside of the building, or driving around the building, so that was comforting. The front desk staff were super friendly, and each morning at the buffet, the attendants always said hello. It's these small touches that really make a difference. I have been going to this hotel for 2 years now. All the staff are friendly. However...the one that impresses me the most is the front desk manager. She (sorry I forgot her name) has very short brown hair. She goes way above and beyond my expectations of customer service. She is a blessing for that hotel and I hope she never leaves. The hotel is very clean. The rooms clean as well. The morning breakfast is not your average. Its a little banquet feast. A hot tub, a gym and a fire pit. There are several hotels to choose from in Modesto but I chose this one because reviews and their website shows Tesla wall chargers. Even better it's supposed to be complimentary! When I arrived at the hotel I found no Tesla charger but a much slower charge point charger. Oh well at least it's complimentary. NOPE! Even after verifying with the manager of the hotel I was still charged for charging my car. So I went to the front desk the next morning and the front desk person said it was complimentary. She had to look up the info on her computer then said oh we charge per hour. I asked for a refund or discount since I was given wrong information by several employees and book this hotel specifically for the charging benefits. They said they would not refund my charging fee and would not discount my room. She said she will give me points for my trouble. I don't use points but it is what it is. Now for the room. The floor looks brown and not something I want to walk on barefoot. The room/ hotel is definitely dated but works. The bed is comfortable and sheets look clean. The complimentary breakfast was great. The staff here is friendly and location is great. I like that there's a small fridge with small water bottles available. Also there's complimentary breakfast and coffee available through out the day. Housekeeping needs to STOP SPRAYING THE AWFUL Crap in the rooms. It is absolute overkill and you cant breathe. It has to be toxic! Are they trying to hide the pet smell or something? The sheer curtain in my room was ripped. Totally ghetto and Motel 6 vibe. The fitness center is tiny and cramped. Two treadmills right next to each other, a.biking machine and weights. Great stay! I was here for about a month and a half for a business trip and the room was nice. TV was nice though I didn't use it much, cute little kitchenette with a sink, mini fridge, microwave too. Wish the pool was more deep but it's mainly a family hotel I believe. The hot tub didn't work when I was there, the laundry room was something I never used but highly appreciated that amenity. The staff were all very accommodating and the free breakfast was the best I've had at any hotel I've stayed at. Seriously. They had different options most mornings, but the best thing was the waffle maker. My roommate pointed out they had a strawberry mix one time and I missed out :( but the egg dishes were honestly unforgettable and I loved waking up to get some and start my day right. This SpringHill is right off the freeway and there are a few other hotels near there. We are so happy we stayed here. The prices were fair and the staff was very nice. We got in a tad early and our room was ready and we were able to check in straight away. The room was a double and it was spotless. It did have a slight odor of having just been cleaned and that was fine with me. The bathroom was average, but cleaner than other hotels we have stayed in. They have a pool which seems older, but we loved it. We stayed there a couple of hours. Parking was easy. We felt safe and comfortable the entire time. We so appreciated the staff. We needed extra towels and shampoo and got it right away. It was quiet and the beds were wonderful to sleep on. We had a great nights sleep. The internet works great. The TV was nice. Breakfast is free in the morning and it was good. We were very happy. read more

The night shift guy- Isaac that worked there on Sunday Dec 21-23 we had 4 rooms for our Family members and the Front Desk People - Isaac in the evening and Simala in the morning were SO SO Helpful! Smiles with the Service too! That's hard to come by nowadays - Simala was so kind to our granddaughter - and the rooms!' Our 2 Queen Beds were so cozy!! A seating desk area and TV with the Sofa area! Like a Suite almost and just clean and Great service with our Continental Breakfast! Isaac was amazing on making me an extra key to our room when we got in at 1:30am- he was so alert and wide awake and helpful to us- we LOVE our Rooms!!! Great hotel. We are not avid travelers, but we do travel a good amount. It felt like a very safe area, I was never concerned about our safety there. We were in town for 2 nights for a wedding. The room was large and clean. The check in was quick and easy. Very friendly staff, they would greet us in the hallway everyone was smiling and helpful. The pool was clean and heated to a nice temperature. The breakfast was pretty basic but good. It filled all our tummy's with eggs, sausage, toast and waffles. I usually have a very reliable experience at any Marriott location. This particular location appeared to be somewhat older. There was nothing really bad about this place, but I did feel it was not quite up to the typical Marriott standards. The place is clean and generally well taken care of. I did notice a hole in the fabric in the sofa in my room, but admittedly that is a small issue. Ventured to the bustling AG town of Modesto for my daughter's graduation. We chose this hotel due to its proximity and the pull out couch that resides with two queen beds. The hotel is very accommodating and warm with the staff very friendly and helpful. It's a quiet hotel well kept and clean. The breakfast had many choices and the staff was very present in making sure your needs were met. The only issue I had with the hotel, the restaurant last night and every stop we made (we brought kids) that the bathrooms were atrocious and this one with no toilet paper. I have to say that I've stayed in hotels around the world and Sequoia, who manned the front desk, was the best. She had patience, humor and professionalism. read more

This is our second stay here in six weeks. It's one of three hotels on the same side of the street with another across the street. In the sense that we slept, bathed and had breakfast, the stay was successful. And while this is not a Marriott with the corresponding Marriott pricing, they could easily do much better without substantial investment. Last night, upon returning from dinner, there was a young man leaning at the check-in counter, no one behind the desk. He was doing something on his phone and did not look up or acknowledge us as we entered and walked past him. As we waited for the elevator, he stepped up with a stack of towels. We don't know if he was going to deliver the towels or take them to his own room. He thanked us when we held the elevator doors open for him. What concerns us is the apparent lack of staffing. Yes, I'm well aware of the COVID pandemic and the difficulty in hiring. At the same time I'm also aware that keeping your property safe for guests means also maintaining a visual presence. Breakfast this morning was busy and there was a constant flow of guests. For the most part, everything was kept clean and wiped down. The quality of the offerings was not as good as last time. The issue that stood out the most were that the turkey sausages and scrambled eggs weren't hot. Eggs were warm and sausages were room temperature. Additionally, the sausages looked like they may have suffered freezer burn and had been reheated from another day. They were dried out and I couldn't poke my plastic fork through one of them. The rooms have automatic deadbolts. They're supposed to engage when you shut the door. The one in this room did not work. It had the same problem that we experienced on our last visit. The doors are heavy and over time are sagging slightly in their frames. This causes the deadbolt to not align with the strike plate, effectively rendering the deadbolt useless. The simple fix would be to enlarge the strike plate receiver with a grinder. We realized upon getting ready to leave our room that the inside security latch on our door was being held in place by one out of three screws. The other two were missing. See picture. This hotel is still much better than the one at the other end and we have yet to try the one in the middle. Will we stay here again? We'll have to think on that. read more

needs major upgrade. I'm disappointed that the housekeeping and upkeep of the rooms has gone down hill. I'm a Marriot rewards member and I often travel to Modesto. I tend to stay at this location because it's convenient and I earn points. at first I just made due with the run down rooms but my most recent stays have been so uncomfortable. my 2 main concerns are the filthy carpets throughout the hotel and including the rooms. and second are the filthy, stained and ripped sectional. I worked not dare sit on them!!! this is definitely not worth mariott prices. read more

4.5 stars I really liked this establishment. I have been to quite a few hotels, and especially Marriotts. I can see the Marriott touch here. The pops of color. The brightness. I liked that a lot. Less vanilla and more boom was a much needed for my much excitement needing eyes. It looked just recently renovated. Upon entry my eye caught magenta colored bar stools. And then aquamarine dining chairs. Bamboo was near a corner. And a serve-yourself complimentary coffee/tea/water bar was situated near the elevator. Too bad I just didn't feel like snapping pix of everything at this point. It was already cute everywhere! At the elevator I remember seeing this black hutch I wanted in my home. Atop it was a terrarium filled with a succulent and surrounding were these pieces of driftwood. I am already quite loving it here and we haven't even made it inside the room. Whenever I get near the door thing at a hotel room I feel like I'm on that show where Ty Pennington is and he does a "Big Reveal". I open the door and I'm excited to see what kind of home we will enjoy for even just a night. Opening it up you see the teal green sectional pull out couch on the right. A lil mirror are in front of it and to the left is the fridge and coffee area. This is like a separate section alone away from the 2 queens. YES! Already a plus. Walking further are 2 big queen beds. Peeking in the closet and its huge! You can fit a baby's bed in there! The bathroom is clean, tile has no black or brown mold on the caulking (always a plus) and I even went barefoot while I showered! That's how much I trusted the cleanliness. But seriously, there was tons of room. You can easily have at least 3 skinny to medium boned people stay on the pull out sectional/chaise. And another 4 medium-big boned people on the 2 queen beds. Someone can even sleep on the floor nearest to the window. And if you REALLY wanted, a baby or child can sleep in the closet. Not that all these bodies is recommended. I'm jus sayyin'. For breakfast for freezy they have lots of carby goodies. The usual like cereal, waffles, oatmeal. Coconut topping was a nice tropical touch. They also had scrambled egg, turkey sausage, raw spinach and salsa which is what I feasted on. Juices, milk and coffee plus flavor were available too. For other meals, I recommend eating at Thailand for Thai food (get the panang and tom yum add coconut milk) and if you wanna splurge, eat at Raw Sushi Bistro (before 6pm and dont bring kids) and get the Darkhorse roll. Spacious and clean! Checked in after midnight with no problems. We stayed in a first floor only a few steps from the reception/breakfast area and was pleasant to see a spacious, clean, high ceiling room. Surprisingly, it was very quite for the first floor during the night other than most places on the first floor. Parking is plentiful with security roaming around at night. In terms of cleaning, it not as frequent as before as they try the limit contact. But if you need new items for the room like sheets or towels just call front desk and they will bring right over. Hot breakfast is served that included scrambled eggs, skillet potatoes and sausage, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, fruits, cheeses, muffins, cereal, milk (fat free/low fat), and orange juice. Because of COVID it is required to wear masks and use gloves before entering the buffet area. Highly recommend for spacious, clean rooms that offer hot breakfast. read more

Pros - Since Modesto doesn't have a hotel that offers true suites or long term hotel stay options, SpringHill is clean and comfortable - I did not hear train sounds. I have stayed in multiple Modesto hotels and the Double Tree downtown has very loud train sounds. At SpringHill Suites, I asked to be on the third floor away from the street. Did not have much noise. - Hot breakfast. But proteins are very meh. Read below. - The room cleaning staff are incredibly nice and do a good job. - The rooms are clean and not humid. There is no musty smell. - Closet space is pretty good. - The microwave, mini fridge, second sink are is very handy - Pool and jacuzzi are available. Pool is small but okay. - Close to In N Out and Jack in the Box - The lady that sets out the Tues/Wed "snack hour" food is super nice. The food is okay, nothing amazing. - The wifi is okay inside the rooms. _____________________________________________ Cons - Noise from neighbors. On one weekend, we had a next door neighbor that would put the latch lock in the doorway to block the door from closing/locking. Their family members came and went dozens of times in the early morning and each time the door would slam and bounce off the latch. Please be more courteous of your fellow hotel guests. - Breakfast proteins were mostly inedible. Nearby La Quinta and Best Western rotate the paper thin, but edible bacon in their breakfast offerings more often. SpringHill Suites' proteins include: pork sausage patties, pork sausage links, bacon, turkey sausage patties, turkey Canadian bacon, sausage hash: sausage pieces, potato, pepper & onion skillet and scrambled eggs/egg white patties, veggie sausage. I tend to shy away from veggie sausage patties, but they were better than the turkey sausage patties. The turkey ones are seriously gross and dry. They do not serve the thin bacon enough. - Waffles are only on weekends and the line can get long and slow. There is only ONE waffle maker. - Bathroom door swings very close to the sink. So if you stand near the sink, be very careful of anyone opening the bathroom door - ipod Alarm clock was five minutes slow and I couldn't figure out how to change it. The hotel channel 2 is fast 21 minutes. - The TV service lags and is slow to change. - The gym equipment is old. The gym tvs barely work if at all. The buttons for changing the channels are terrible. - The clothes dryer does not dry clothes enough. You must add extra money for the dryer. I give them a 5 star! They serve bag breakfast (banana/apple & muffin/energy bar and the coffee/tea station was already set up. Upon Arrival, we were taken care of by Duncan. I spoke with Hollie Huson, General Manager with prior arrangements and we were welcomed upon arrival from travel in San Diego. I enjoyed available parking in front, and the ambient of the Lobby was warm. I love their lobby mini store. The front desk was always courteous and kind. The location was convenient access from the freeway and stores/restaurants/banks nearby. Our rooms was clean and the maids were accommodating us with our daily needs. The bed was so comfortable and the shower was vitiating, just what we needed from a long trip. The kids enjoyed the clean pool and jacuzzi. During my stay, 5/27/2020 we experience a temporary black out and the hotel electricity was out for 10 mins, people got stuck in the elevator and the night manager went into action and called 911 to get the 2 people out and credited their room for the inconvenience. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Modesto, CA and wants a comfortable and clean rooms. Ask for Hollie Huson, GM, she and her Staff will take good care of you! read more

After staying here I am an absolute fan of this SpringHill Suites. The front desk personnel (Vicki and Pooja, sorry about the spelling) were so helpful and really really friendly. And you really can't beat the free breakfast in the morning. The food may not be "high" quality but it comes free with your stay so why complain? Coffee around the clock in the lobby with fresh fruit. What I especially liked was the pool. When you look at it...well it ain't much until you get in it. Low low low chlorine content so my eyes didn't burn once, and it was so clean. There should be a "LOVE IT" button on here. Would definitely come back =) read more

This Marriott property works well for my business travels as it is near my work location but also a short drive to shops and restaurants. Close to Highway 99 for a quick zip to other cities nearby. The hotel itself is newer. Clean, open spaces, well lit. The rate includes breakfast (some hot choices are daily rotating eggs and breakfast meat, oatmeal, Belgian waffle). All rooms are suites, including a mini fridge and microwave. Super comfy bed with copious pillows. Speedy WIFI. Basic workout area, with two treadmills, an ellyptical, a bike and one of those pulley machines that work out a bunch of different body parts. read more

A nice respite convenient to the highway as well as various shopping areas, the SHS works well for those in the area for business and leisure given its' proximity to the various restaurants and shopping areas that exist within the area. The myriad of ethnic restaurants is surprising for this part of the country, and the fact that at Trader Joe's is about two miles away makes it even more reasonable to stay here. The rooms are large, clean, and the bfast every AM makes it a cinch to get up and go without much of an effort. There is a small fitness center near the elevators, with two treadmills, an elliptical, a bike and both free weights and a cable setup along with the usual towels and water. It's definitely reasonable in price and convenient in location with friendly staff. read more
