Room 207, the Bridalveil Suite ~ extremely comfy and cozy!
Pamela F.

Returned to the 5th Street Inn in short order, just a little over a month after our first visit. This time I was flying solo and stayed in Room 205, aka "The Retreat." Another lovely and spacious option, including comfy king bed, sweet jacuzzi tub, twin sinks, separate shower and small table and chairs for two. A fabulous option for a romantic getaway and quite private with its own entrance on the backside of the Inn. The owner, Randy, was super responsive when I left a message about needing to change my reservation. Really appreciate his quick and friendly service. Nick also provided friendly and swift assistance at check-in. Pretty sure this is going to be my go-to place to stay whenever I head back to my beloved hometown. It's so conveniently located in downtown Mariposa, close walking distance to much this charming town has to offer!

What a find! This inn is within a 100 feet maybe less to downtown Mariposa. The check in was friendly with our host Issac and room 206 was simple, clean and everything you needed down to the smallest detail. They even had water and soda in the refrigerator under the honor system. Good free WiFi & plenty of everything needed for your stay. Coffee & tea is in the room too. We stayed in February so it could get chilly at night but temperature control is great. This is a small family run inn: probably under 12 rooms. Parking is right outside your door or close if your room is on second floor. No free breakfast here but at the very reasonable rate and local restaurants steps away no big deal at all. No lobby as you check in as it is by phone at the inn and a greeter (Isaac) comes to a window to assist you. Need recommendations for places to eat, go to or see locally Isaac was very helpful. I cannot think of one thing that I have an issue with for a downtown historic place to call home while you visit the area.

This is NOT a Hilton nor a Marriott, but this IS an adorable place to stay. We stayed on a Thursday & Friday night so we could go to Yosemite. The room was clean and comfortable, complete with coffee maker, refrigerator with a freezer and a nice size bathroom. The staff was very helpful and courteous. For $105 per night, I would stay here again in a heart beat.

Despite the COVID Chaos, we enjoyed a quiet and relaxing stay. Staff worked remotely and were excellent at staying in contact with us before and after we arrived. Clean, charming and cozy room. We will visit again.

Me and a buddy decided to go off season to the land of the beautiful - Yosemite! Going in Feb has certain advantages - low low prices. I saw the 5th Street Inn on Eye of the Bay and Liam checked out this place and super low rates were available. WE showed up right after president's weekend so there weren't many people around. The Inn gave us an upgrade into the Juniper Room which has a kitchenette, 2 queen size beds, and a sofa to watch TV - WOW, at their lowest possible rate - $49.00 !! yes, you heard me right, this was nicer than most hotels at 1/3rd the price. Mariposa is a sweet and quaint little town. The local beer tavern (that's all they sell is beer) was on vacation as was a couple restaurants, but the Miner Bar was open - people were friendly and they made good cocktails - reminds me I gotta head over there and write a review. If you're going to Yosemite this is the place! It's close to everything you need and the lodging (unless your camping) in Yosemite is much less than you would expect. Check it aut.

If you're adventuring in Yosemite, you should just stay here. First of all, it's the cutest house in a town full of cute houses. White and pink! The family that runs it are more than welcoming and accommodating. I spoke to Randy and his son Isaac and they are both the cutest. We stayed in room 200 and it was super clean and cozy, with a modern interior (which is not very common around here). Don't go by their website, because I think they are using old photographs (I posted a picture, if you're curious). Isaac actually told me that they bought the hotel 8 years ago and renovated it, which you can really tell. I am really picky when it comes to hotels and could never sleep in a room that seems unclean or otherwise dodgy and I would GLADLY stay here forever. Book it and thank me later for saving you hours of research.

This room has a King bed, fireplace, full bathroom and kitchen. Including outside private sitting area. Very spacious and romantic.

We were booked in suite 5, which does NOT look anything like the room shown on the website. It is old, dark and dingy. Even the front door lock was loose (as mentioned by another reviewer). I had made the reservations for my friend and me, and when we walked into suite 5, we both just deflated at how junky it looked. I wanted to show my friend how it didn't look anything like the website, but their internet didn't work at all until the next morning. The outdoor area is not lit up and welcoming, but dark and deserted. We made the best of it for that night, and in the morning, I contacted the owner via text. When I said that the room looked nothing like the rooms shown on the website, the reply was, "All of our rooms are different." So why don't they show photos of all of their rooms??? They offered to move us to another room, and I requested one that looks like the one on the website. They instructed me to find the key for suite 1, and that room was great! Looked just like the website, and was exactly what we were expecting. It was weird that this room was not rented out, but yet they didn't put us in that room in the first place. I later learned that we were charged $199 for the first night junky room, and $109 for the second night room that looked like the one on the website. That was contrary to what I remembered from the price listing on the website when I made the reservation, which I believe was $159 per night. But when you receive your confirmation email, there are no prices listed at all. I know it comes out to the same price, but it's very strange that the price/total isn't listed on your confirmation email. I would have asked if I had noticed it before we arrived. I really wanted to like this inn, but next time, I'll just stay in the heated cabins in Yosemite Valley for $155/night. The one-hour drive to the valley from this place wasn't worth it for us. If you're going to stay here, ask them specifically what room you will be in and if it's one that looks like the ones on the website. If not, consider staying elsewhere. Positive: the cafe is super cute with great coffee and food and nice people!

I had my door propped open to cool off the room with the night air and a stray cat waltzed right in. It didn't stay long, but it was a cute and funny encounter. Is the cat part of the staff? If so, it deserves a raise!

At check in, the receptionist was totally unfriendly. Did not smile; did not welcome us and seemed to be bothered because I was trying to confirm the directions he had indicated about how to get to the room. When we got to the room we found a blood stain on the white sheet which we took pictures of to show receptionist. Receptionist immediately insulted us by implying that it was our own blood! He said "I know about blood and this looks bright red to me." I said cut the BS, what are you trying to say? He replied, "don't you course at me or I'll throw you out of this hotel!" I said, "why would I come all the way here to complain about blood stains if it was my own?" He replied, "to get new sheets!" I was like, "what????" He handed me a set of sheet and said, "here you go, you can change them." I immediately drove across the street to the Best Western and luckily they had a nice clean room available. We came downstairs and checked out. I explained the situation to the incoming receptionist, but she said that there wasn't anything she could do since I booked through Booking.com. I contacted booking.com at around 2:30am and they said they will speak to hotel. Eventually, booking.com said they didn't get a resolution from hotel. So we lost our money!!! What a feeling of impotence to receive this kind of treatment and service in the United States of America and there is no customer service department to complain to and the super billionaire company that made the reservation (booking.com) is not ultimately liable either! Absolutely terrible experience!!!

And the other staff were just as fun and helpful. Downtown Mariposa is a wonderful old town and the hotel itself is a slice of early 20th century California history. The real perk for us was the covered patio in back. Comfortable in the morning for enjoying the complimentary breakfast snack items and coffee, yes. But even better, we ordered take out food every evening and brought it up to the patio to enjoy al fresco dining and wine.
