Not a lot of options in Mariposa, but all things considered, this was a decent motel to spend a few days at, when you're in the area specifically as a jumping off point to Yosemite. It's pet friendly, but check ahead that you're reserving a pet friendly room since they are limited. COVID restrictions require they operate at 50 capacity and wait 24 hours before sending in the staff to clean. During this time there is not housekeeping service (which was our preference anyway) but you can ask for more towels or garbage pick up as needed. The room itself smelled exceedingly clean when we checked in but I did my own once over the commonly touched areas with Clorox wipes. Excellent vicinity to the shops and restaurants in Mariposa-walking distance to anywhere we went in town. The room itself is fine for 3 nights (maybe 4 max) and for my boyfriend and I, we were spending long days at Yosemite so we just needed a clean and comfortable place to sleep-this did just fine. Bed was super comfy as were the pillows. A/C was a bit on the louder side but I enjoy sleeping to white noise so it didn't bother me-plus with 90 degree + temps this past weekend, it kept the room nice and cool. There's a pool (which I'm not sure was open-but hey it would come in handy during better times.) Small fridge that worked just fine. In between Mariposa and Yosemite, there's not much else. Even with an hour drive to the Valley, it's about as close as you can get without staying in the park. No frills, reasonable cost and taking safety precautions-overall a completely fine place to sleep for a few nights if you don't need much else.

I wish I had thought to take more photos of how cute the rooms were!! The room I had was immaculate and looked so much nicer than the photos! The place is super quaint and clean, the staff was very friendly, the location was quiet and peaceful. I met a friend for dinner and we found an amazing little spot called the Hideaway for dinner (vegan options!). I took a walk downtown and checked out a couple of cute shops. I will definitely be staying here next time I am driving through!!

We had a great time.

Take my review with a grain of salt because it was awhile ago but I enjoyed my stay here. The property was quite striking and the room comfy. It had a real western feel. This as I said was a long time ago. I found some old pics of my stay here that made me smile. I remember it as being a really cool place.

A nice place. Not to quant for a small town motel. Clean spacious room with microwave, small refrigerator, 19" color TV, small pool (which i am sure gets more use in summer), a very steamy hot (but very small) hot tub. Poor cell phone reception in the area due to the mountains. Only few places to eat. But i must say that on my last trip there the choices of restaurants had increased by a handful which was a pleasant surprise. I think it is one of the better places to stay in the area.

We were here for work and needed 3 rooms for 6 days. Stormy let us bring our grill, bbq and hang out! We will definitely be coming back!!!

We were booked in suite 5, which does NOT look anything like the room shown on the website. It is old, dark and dingy. Even the front door lock was loose (as mentioned by another reviewer). I had made the reservations for my friend and me, and when we walked into suite 5, we both just deflated at how junky it looked. I wanted to show my friend how it didn't look anything like the website, but their internet didn't work at all until the next morning. The outdoor area is not lit up and welcoming, but dark and deserted. We made the best of it for that night, and in the morning, I contacted the owner via text. When I said that the room looked nothing like the rooms shown on the website, the reply was, "All of our rooms are different." So why don't they show photos of all of their rooms??? They offered to move us to another room, and I requested one that looks like the one on the website. They instructed me to find the key for suite 1, and that room was great! Looked just like the website, and was exactly what we were expecting. It was weird that this room was not rented out, but yet they didn't put us in that room in the first place. I later learned that we were charged $199 for the first night junky room, and $109 for the second night room that looked like the one on the website. That was contrary to what I remembered from the price listing on the website when I made the reservation, which I believe was $159 per night. But when you receive your confirmation email, there are no prices listed at all. I know it comes out to the same price, but it's very strange that the price/total isn't listed on your confirmation email. I would have asked if I had noticed it before we arrived. I really wanted to like this inn, but next time, I'll just stay in the heated cabins in Yosemite Valley for $155/night. The one-hour drive to the valley from this place wasn't worth it for us. If you're going to stay here, ask them specifically what room you will be in and if it's one that looks like the ones on the website. If not, consider staying elsewhere. Positive: the cafe is super cute with great coffee and food and nice people!

I had my door propped open to cool off the room with the night air and a stray cat waltzed right in. It didn't stay long, but it was a cute and funny encounter. Is the cat part of the staff? If so, it deserves a raise!

At check in, the receptionist was totally unfriendly. Did not smile; did not welcome us and seemed to be bothered because I was trying to confirm the directions he had indicated about how to get to the room. When we got to the room we found a blood stain on the white sheet which we took pictures of to show receptionist. Receptionist immediately insulted us by implying that it was our own blood! He said "I know about blood and this looks bright red to me." I said cut the BS, what are you trying to say? He replied, "don't you course at me or I'll throw you out of this hotel!" I said, "why would I come all the way here to complain about blood stains if it was my own?" He replied, "to get new sheets!" I was like, "what????" He handed me a set of sheet and said, "here you go, you can change them." I immediately drove across the street to the Best Western and luckily they had a nice clean room available. We came downstairs and checked out. I explained the situation to the incoming receptionist, but she said that there wasn't anything she could do since I booked through Booking.com. I contacted booking.com at around 2:30am and they said they will speak to hotel. Eventually, booking.com said they didn't get a resolution from hotel. So we lost our money!!! What a feeling of impotence to receive this kind of treatment and service in the United States of America and there is no customer service department to complain to and the super billionaire company that made the reservation (booking.com) is not ultimately liable either! Absolutely terrible experience!!!

And the other staff were just as fun and helpful. Downtown Mariposa is a wonderful old town and the hotel itself is a slice of early 20th century California history. Our group of four stayed in two rooms and each room was just right. Large rooms with comfortable beds, nice bathrooms, good lighting, and a great A/C. The real perk for us was the covered patio in back. Comfortable in the morning for enjoying the complimentary breakfast snack items and coffee, yes. But even better, we ordered take out food every evening and brought it up to the patio to enjoy al fresco dining and wine. To make sure we had a great dinner, Mary made sure we had cutlery, glasses and condiments to make our dinner even better. We can't recommend this place enough and we will definitely be back!
