Amazing little bed and breakfast associated with the Hyatt . We stayed in a room with a spa tub and fire place . It was so cute ! In the evening they offered wine and finger foods from 5-6pm and breakfast was delicious served from 7-9am. The staff was extremely friendly, Mayra checked us in and out and recommend many restaurants so we choose Smokehouse 41 and we were not disappointed. Such a lovely town and only 1.5 maybe less from Yosemite so we got some hiking in. 10/10 would recommend this luxury bed and breakfast. Great experience. We will be coming back !

Stayed here for the first time in the 1st of the year Our room was very nice, clean and the bed was comfortable. The two hour evening wine and hors d'oeuvres was a nice touch. We also enjoyed the complimentary drinks and beverages. This is not too far from Yosemite or the city of Oakhurt. We will definetly be back!

This 12 room SLH BnB is not only convenient to Yosemite, it's also the perfect home base with great service. We stayed for two nights on a Friday and Saturday in order to have proximity to Yosemite early before the crowds. Check in: If you're coming in after sun down, be on the lookout for the sign as it's right on Highway 41 and can be tough to see. Speed limit is 45, but people are peeling through at 60+ MPH. We came in after a long, long day of hiking on Friday afternoon. We were informed that we would be in room 8, which is right upstairs and to the right. I was able to confirm my back-to-back stay details since I used two booking systems to make it more economical. Room: Believe what you read about the inn feeling like you're staying in someone's home. While the room itself was spacious, the home element is the door. Big name hotel chains are accustomed to heavier doors that lock when closed behind you. Hounds Tooth Inn's doors are similar to a normal bedroom door in a home. This isn't that big of a deal, but you should be weary if you're sensitive to noise as there was a rowdy group of folks outside our door at 3AM which woke us up! Other than that, the bathroom was on the smaller side, but did the job. There's also a small wet bar by the entrance which includes a Keurig, sink, and mini fridge. Amenities: If you have an electric vehicle, there are Tesla Superchargers in the lot in the front. During these COVID affected travel times, Hounds Tooth Inn does a great job at accommodating! Instead of having to show up at specific times for breakfast or the evening reception, the property caters to your schedule. For breakfast, you'll receive order slips and the following day's menu. You'll put your order down and what time you'd like to pick it up. The front desk will call your room around the time of requested pick up when it's ready. While the food comes in to go containers and cutlery, the food itself is hot and beautifully plated! If you're keen on the evening reception, Hounds Tooth Inn pre-makes a cheese + meat platter and asks if you prefer sparkling, white, or red. Upon selection, you'll receive a whole bottle! What a great treat post hike! The reason for the 4 stars instead of the 5 is the overall cost for what you get. I understand getting a boutique, personalized experience, but at ~$250/night, I expected the room to have been more focused on getting a good night's sleep. Perhaps next time, I'll try to get a King sized bed as the Queen beds + pillows weren't ideal on my aching, all hiked out body! Looking forward to my next stay!

This was my first time staying in a bed and breakfast and wow! We were impressed. This B&B is gorgeous. We stayed in room #9 which was large with a switch to start fire place. The B&B was clean, cozy, had plenty of parking (& EV chargers) and the staff we met was very kind. If we ever return to Oakhurst again we would definitely revisit Hound's Tooth Inn.

Carriage house was perfect for our family of 4. Plenty of room to relax and spread out a bit.

This quaint inn deserves more than 5 stars! It was a perfect place to rest after long days visiting Yosemite National Park. Only 20 minutes from the park entrance and close to good options for dinner. I cannot say enough about the accommodating staff- all so friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were delicious with plenty of wonderful options. The grounds were well tended and our room was perfectly comfortable. My family spends our summers visiting National Parks and this has been our best stop yet. Stay at Hounds Tooth Inn, you will be so glad you did!

I heard about the Hounds Tooth from a friend who visited before and was super excited to stay on property. I want to be in the business of owning and operating small hotels/bed and breakfasts and, upon hearing of this place, wanted to check it out and see how amazing it would be. I was immediately struck by how beautiful the building is from the driveway. It has awesome little touches in the moulding and surrounding architecture which definitely piqued my interest. For the (what I thought was a great) price of $200 for the night I thought "what a bargain!" From this point, I experienced one disappointment after another. Upon check-in, we were greeted by a new addition to the property. While we definitely had a good conversation, it was definitely of a caliber I wasn't expecting from this "Small Luxury Hotel." She was nice and accommodating by seemed to casual. Since I want to be in this business, I asked her if it was possible to see the rooms they offered. I wanted to get an idea of how this hotel presents itself. She informed that they were all booked up, but since a couple of parties had not checked in, I could look in their rooms. Although I appreciated her accommodating my request, I am not sure I would like random people walking through my room before I checked in. That aside, she was super nice and put us at ease. The wine and cheese event looked well enough, but we chose not to attend due to another party crowding the fireplace. (we did take a couple of snacks, which were yummy). When we got to the room, I was surprised at how sterile the inside was. White, or off-white, walls everywhere and very little character to the room. Again, this was not necessarily bad, just not what I was expecting. We stayed in a queen room with an in-room jacuzzi. My biggest complaints with the room are that the TV was no more than 25-inches, and placed far from the bed, making viewing somewhat of a task. I would have thought the tv would be at least 50-inches for the price and "quality" of the hotel. In addition, there were ants on our small coffee cart area with the Keurig machine. (We didn't notice the insects until the next morning, or I would have requested to have it cleaned.) Thirdly, until about 2:30 am there was a banging noise outside every 10-15 minutes. It sounded like someone was slamming the garbage can lid or something. When I called into the office at 2 am, the gentleman (who I'm pretty sure I woke up) first told me there was no noise and that I shouldn't worry because he "couldn't hear it." When I explained it to him further, he admitted that the noise also happened the night prior and that he didn't know where it was coming from. From that point, and in addition to the noisy air conditioner, we had trouble getting decent rest. Consequently, and not totally our own fault, we slept through our alarms and ended up missing breakfast, which ended at 10 am. I understand that there are times for things for a reason but I was upset to find out that when we checked out at 10:45, there was still plenty of food out on display from breakfast. (Surely if I still had food out and a guest called me just after breakfast ended and told me that they slept through it, I would encourage them to come to take some food to go, at the very least.) My last issue with the Inn, which is also related to check-in, was the professionalism of the staff. When we were checking out, we were simply handed a card to write this review and a pack of macarons. As a "thank you" gift, I certainly appreciated the gesture of the treats, but when the gentleman (might have been the one I talked to in the wee hours) presented them he, in air quotes, told me they were "authentic." In my opinion, I would love to see the staff behave in a manner befitting of a "Small Luxury Hotel," and less of one appropriate for the Best Western down the road. Stay at Hounds Tooth if you like: -Beautiful buildings -Decent treats at social events -"authentic" macarons Avoid the Hounds Tooth if you dislike: -Ants near your food -Consistent loud noises in the middle of the night -Unprofessional staff

The definition of a luxury bed and breakfast. To start off the food was the best breakfast I've had period. Everyday it was consistent and outstanding. Chef must be professional to some degree. The menu is original and changes every night. Rooms are outstanding especially with the fireplace. Keep in mind the sink is next to the bed for some reason. Front desk is always super sweet and helpful. Every night they have chocolate and wine set out. Along with fruits and salami!

If you are looking for a quiet place to rest your head, the Hounds Tooth Inn is the perfect spot. It sits off of highway 41 just north of the Oakhurst and only consists of about 12 rooms. It is more of a bed and breakfast than a hotel. We only stayed one night being that the family and I were starting a 4 day gold country adventure. When we arrived, it was around 6:30 and there was a wine and cheese reception in the lobby. There is nothing better than a glass of wine or two after being on the road for 6 hours. The next morning, I was able to enjoy coffee out on the porch or veranda I guess you could call it. Coffee is available 24/7 I believe as well as a selection of soda, water, and tea. Breakfast is provided as part of your stay and what a hearty breakfast it is. Potato and sausage frittata, biscuits with mushroom gravy, ham, sausage, and an assortment of pastries and fresh fruit. Not what I expected, but a great way to start the day. The staff was very friendly. We only interacted with the manager and the chef. I liked the fact that they just left you alone to enjoy the inn. We decided after our experience at the Hounds Tooth Inn, we will be back for sure. And maybe we will even follow the crowds to Yosemite next time.

We stayed here with our family while visiting the Mariposa Grove of big trees in Yosemite. It's just off the Hiway 41 north of Oakhurst. We had 3 rooms- 2 upstairs plus the large separate cottage. Everything was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the daily wine and appetizers in the afternoon and the wonderful breakfast in the morning. There is no elevator which would have been nice for my 95 year old Mother, but she managed the stairs ok. There is a good Mexican restaurant, El Cids, just about 1/4 mile away. The only drawback was the poor cell phone reception.

Beautiful, cozy, unique Bed & Breakfast Inn. Reminds me of being in Europe. It is small yet very quaint, it has only 12 rooms Inn under the new management! Rooms very in size but tent to run on the smaller size ( by American standards) yet with plenty of character and comfort! The room decor is a bit outdated but is in the process of renovation. However very clean and very comfortable bed! In the evening staff hosts wine tasting with few small hors-d'oeuvres. In the morning very good and tasty breakfast with multiple hot and cold options (custom made if desired). WiFi seemed to be temperamental at times. Can not say enough GOOD THINGS about customer service and hospitality of the hostesses. They are very friendly, thoughtful and accommodating to everyone! Despite few small inconsistencies I would highly recommend this Inn and would definitely choose to stay in again!

Just truly a unique B&B with just the right amount of charm. And our hostess Brea is incredible. Greeted us with an amazing smile and made sure we understood all the amenities they had to offer. My fiance and I were looking to just get away quiet and from the city. She was in a car accident so she was already frazzled. I knew I had to get her away. This place popped up on my Orbitz search. And for $140 a night plus tax, I was in. Now there were other hotels near by with more to offer but this place appeared charming. And I had to try it Right off, perfect place to enjoy the quiet and just allow yourself to be. The room we got was spacious for the two of us. And before all that, the "house" looks so welcoming. And very clean and manicured. It's not huge like say the Gables in Monterey but pleasantly the perfect size, so only 12 rooms. Our room was tastefully designed and our queen size bed was just perfect. Not too soft but just the right firmness. Well, at least for us. Everyone is different. Carpet was softer than hotel carpet. This was plush. Felt good on my feet. And the bath area blends with the room. Not like a studio but close. Ok, not the biggest T.V. but I had no desire to watch. Let's just say this is not what we came for. Shower is small and our Shampoo and Soap dispenser did not work. Not a huge disappointment but something to look into. They have a really nice wine and snack social. There were at least 6 bottles of wine to choose from. I got a little tipsy. But I enjoyed meeting a few people. This place is worth staying you will have a good time if you want quiet and understated. I know after the week my fiance had this was welcome escape.

As this was a weeknight stop on our California road trip, I still needed internet access for my job. We stayed in the Country Rose room, and while the bedroom was small, the bathroom was spacious, and this was all we needed for one night. We ended up stopping for dinner before arriving, which pushed back our check-in later than I had initially thought. The host was great with quick responses to my updates! We were advised on where to find our entry info & had no problems. Though it was only around 9pm when we arrived, we didn't see anyone that night. Our room was in the back, through the house with a separate entrance from the deck. Just outside of our door was a patio table with a couple of chairs; this is where I did my work that night, under the stars, and also the next morning. Internet was fine there & I enjoyed working outdoors in mid-May. The bedroom itself was small & rather stuffy, but we opened the windows because they had screens, and we were comfortable all night. My only gripe about our room was a lack of pillows, as we only had one for each of us. But, since it was late, I made zero effort to see if any extras were available in the main house. Our in-suite bathroom was huge & included a mini-fridge. The shower was in a ginormous garden tub with an awkward climb-in entry, but served its purpose. We had been provided plenty of towels, as well as a hair dryer. The next morning, we were able to better appreciate our surroundings. The deck was elevated & spanned the entire back of the house, with several seating areas in addition to the one outside of our room. Down the steps was a pool (though closed), and a small landscaped yard. We could see the mountains from the deck, and wildlife including wild turkeys ran through the yard. We also enjoyed a huge freshly-made breakfast that morning. I wish I remembered her name, but the cook was very friendly & helpful with local tips. The inside dining table was large, and we were able to meet some of the other guests while we dined on the spread of varied breakfast items. The location was indeed perfect for visiting Yosemite, but this area seemed to also offer a lot more to do & see outside of the park. Where to begin? I have been enjoying the restaurant associated with this hotel for many years now…read moreon my visits to the area which is a treasure near Yosemite. The town of Oakhurst is my favorite as it offers great amenities that are the closest to the best entrance to Yosemite in my opinion. Lets start with the food. This is one of the best culinary experiences I have had and it is consistently good. The three course or five course dining service is stellar. These chefs are some of the best in the world and Ive been all over the world. The leadership of Erica is not to be surpassed. She has an incredible calm spirit with a smiling happy crew that provides top notch service with warmth and class. The bartender Jordan is a delight with his great smile and kind eyes. The food experience made me feel like I was being nourished from the inside out not just with nutrition but with love and flavor that was new and revitalizing. This was my first stay at the Chateau Sureau. Oh my heart. I feel that I was healed and restored from a level of stress I dont think I realized I was carrying from our busy crazy noisy world at home. The property is exquisite with old world charm and the perfect patina of age that makes you feel you are in the old country of Paris or Austria or England. The landscape is stunning and it was raining so the fireplaces were roaring and the pines were glistening with silver drops backlit by an incredible sunset. The breakfast service is top notch and the staff is incredibly attentive. You know its good when you know each others names. Thanks to Lorenzo, Sienna, Logan, Jissel and Lori for incredible Chalet guest service. Then, there is the spa. I just had to go since I was feeling like my life was coming back to my ownership again. The Spa is gorgeous. The spa. director Way has been on this property for 20 years. I had the best facial and conversation with her. What a treasure she is. Kim was my massage therapist and she is one of the best I have ever had and my son at home is a therapist as well so I feel qualified to say so. I got to spend my time in the couples massage room which has stunning views, a balcony that looks out from the hot bubbling soaking tub that you get to use after your massage. I had a choice of oils to add and we went with elderberry which is incredible for soft skin. Its absolutely wonderful. The small scale in size lent itself to making connections with other guests that were fantastic and I made friends here while staying that will last! I will be back everytime I am in town. I was here on a rainy weeks end and it added to the magic. I can imagine what it is like in spring when the gorgeous grounds are covered in flowers blooming. I cant wait to see it again then or even next month for the holidays! Some may say there is some aging to the rooms but I say its perfect and if you have traveled to the Old Country in Europe this is part of the actual beauty and experience. Relish it!!

Never again, unfortunately. First, the pictures management posts on social media make the place…read morelook much nicer than it really is. The rooms are small and dated with various maintenance issues. The pool was cloudy and dirty. On the positive side, the staff was very pleasant and did their best. There were so many mishaps during our stay I cannot believe they charged us full price. I will never go back or recommend it. There is so much potential with this property. I hope they turn it around. Good luck!

I hurriedly secured a weekend at this B&B through Expedia based on amenities and proximity to the park entrances (30 min. to either the south or the west entrance through El Portal). As a big yelper I was surprised I didn't check/read here first and booked trusting Expedia's reviews. I was so delighted to find out it had 5 solid stars! This inn is tucked off a small highway in Ahwahnee and has 6 very different units, each with little extras. I loved our Half Dome room - we had our own private entrance, parking spot, and a jetted bathtub. There were stairs which I knew would be a struggle after some hiking, but it was so worth it. Also had a small deck. First amazing surprise was a greeting by the very sweet Inn cat Buster. The breakfast deserves its own paragraph. Very beautifully presented, delicious, an ample amount and you get two time options which made planning our park visits easier. Speaking of which, I love that if you're planning to do an early hike you can ask for your breakfast to be packed in advance. We got a lunch bag where our host drew Half Dome with a John Muir quote (so cute! I kept it :)) filled with fruits and granola. We also got different chocolates after housekeeping tended our room each afternoon. Our final morning we got a puffy pancake with fruit, yogurt, and bacon. Sherilee was so kind and offered us extra bacon. After our meal, the other friendly cat Hank came and sat on my lap for a while. It was great! There is a real family / warm / cozy vibe here. The grounds are awesome. Quiet, natural landscape. A really nice pagoda where a party of 6 could come chill and has an overhead fan, lights, and outlets. Pool and jacuzzi with lights and AMAZING jets (best I've been in?) open until 10pm. Beside the lodge is a beautiful outdoor fireplace next to a grill. The lodge itself is free to use anytime and they have a ton of movies and games, large table, really comfortable couches and always the perfect room temperature. They also have deet, sunscreen, cookies, and a basket with some poles you can borrow. Overall we felt so welcomed and very well cared for. Got more than expected and was nice to come back to this place after hiking in the park. Will definitely be recommending this place and hope to return.

The rooms are well appointed with everything you need. There's also a pool and hot tub which surprised me for a b & b. You get different breakfasts daily. Note for first time Yosemite people it is one hour and half to Valley. Neighboring Oakhurst has restaurants which was the route we went. Also important to note especially in summer, you must go early to Yosemite! The Fish Camp entrance gets very busy! Shari thanks so much for being so on top of things! You are the best!

Only 30 mins away from Yosemite (about 1.5 hr from Glacier's Point) this b&b is in the quaint town of Oakhurst with a reasonable mix of restaurants and cafes. Must stay on your next Yosemite trip.

You can also expect to see a family of deer walking around the garden. Unfortunately the grounds are not as nice as I expected from the pictures on the website. The area around the driveway, garage, and parking area was very dry and it could use some water and landscaping. This is the kind of place you want to see a beautiful garden so you can sit outside and enjoy the warm weather and scenic views! As far as our stay went, let me start out by saying that Judy, the owner, is a total sweetie. She greeted us with open arms and a big smile. She showed us to our room (room 1), which had a "private" porch, "private" hot tub, and a beautiful view. Then, she sat us down and explained to us the rules, which were plenty: Take a shower before using the hot tub , hair up in the hot tub, only use the green towels for the hot tub, don't waste electricity, keep the noise to a minimum, don't drink too much in the hot tub, don't waste water, "quite time" starts at 9pm, etc....she said if any of the rules were broken, we would be charged extra. For $170 a night, we didn't expect as many rules. This was my boyfriend's first visit to Yosemite so I wanted to stay someplace wonderful. Although Vulture's View was nice and had an amazing view from the hot tub, it was not as wonderful as I had expected for the price. The first night we enjoyed a beer and a delicious dinner at Yosemite Forks Mountain House Restaurant in Oakhurst. Yum! I would definitely recommend this restaurant. The next morning we got up at 4:30am and headed to Yosemite to hike Half Dome. Great time. We returned after dinner, around 8:30pm, a little surprised to find that our bed was not made and our towels were not replenished. Also, we were not given any additional food for the next day's breakfast. Pros: * Friendly hosts * Deer frequently roam the property * the private outdoor jacuzzi w/ amazing view * comfortable bed w/ nice sheets * nice fireplace (although it was way too hot to use it) * the room was stocked with fruit, mini-cereal, coffee, a mini fridge, a microwave, etc. * flat-screen tv w/ cable & dvd player * room was a cool temperature (providing a nice relief from the heat outside) . Cons: * We had a non smoking room, but it smelled of cigarette smoke. * Jacuzzi wasn't that hot (and took a LONG time to heat up) * the grounds could have been kept up a little bit better * too many rules * we left for the day and when we came back our bed was not made and towels were not replenished. * dirty wine glasses :( * although there was a coffee maker in the room, the coffee and cream were not good. (and I was really looking forward to a cup of coffee after waking up at 3:30am before hiking Half Dome) * the alarm clock's alarm was broken Recommendations: * Bring a bottle of wine to enjoy while watching the sunset in the hot tub * Bring your own shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. * Make sure to read the guest book (filled with many cute stories) * Bring your own coffee and cream (and some food to stock your mini-fridge)
