Eddie greeted us upon arrival and walked us around the area, showed us local sites, and gave us local secrets about the area. We found out about Bass Lake and never would have known what a great local place it is. We stayed in the Cedar room and it exceeded our expectations. The room was a good size, huge bathroom and little mini fridge. Double doors opened to the outside and we had the main door that opened to the hallway. Our room was at the very beginning so no noise at all. The AC was cool and the fan was quiet. We enjoyed the bed and breakfast concept and mingled with the other patrons while we were there. Everyone was very friendly and we all talked about Yosemite and our experiences. I recommend stating here for the great price and atmosphere, along with all the amenities. Thanks Eddie!!!

I always choose the SEQUOIA ROOM... which will blow your mind: superb decoration, every detail is beautiful, the bathroom is huge with a double shower and comes equipped with anything you could ask for... the bed is amazing and besides you have a sofa bed and and extra bed for more people. You like to watch cable in bed? yeah... every room comes with Satellite TV and flat screens. Like if this wasn't enough.. you have free wifi of course, a F1 grill if you like bbq'ing and a HUGE deck if you want to just sit down and stare at the beauty of the pine populated mountains. As this was a weeknight stop on our California road trip, I still needed internet access for my job. We stayed in the Country Rose room, and while the bedroom was small, the bathroom was spacious, and this was all we needed for one night. We ended up stopping for dinner before arriving, which pushed back our check-in later than I had initially thought. The host was great with quick responses to my updates! We were advised on where to find our entry info & had no problems. Though it was only around 9pm when we arrived, we didn't see anyone that night. Our room was in the back, through the house with a separate entrance from the deck. Just outside of our door was a patio table with a couple of chairs; this is where I did my work that night, under the stars, and also the next morning. Internet was fine there & I enjoyed working outdoors in mid-May. The bedroom itself was small & rather stuffy, but we opened the windows because they had screens, and we were comfortable all night. My only gripe about our room was a lack of pillows, as we only had one for each of us. But, since it was late, I made zero effort to see if any extras were available in the main house. Our in-suite bathroom was huge & included a mini-fridge. The shower was in a ginormous garden tub with an awkward climb-in entry, but served its purpose. We had been provided plenty of towels, as well as a hair dryer. The next morning, we were able to better appreciate our surroundings. The deck was elevated & spanned the entire back of the house, with several seating areas in addition to the one outside of our room. Down the steps was a pool (though closed), and a small landscaped yard. We could see the mountains from the deck, and wildlife including wild turkeys ran through the yard. We also enjoyed a huge freshly-made breakfast that morning. I wish I remembered her name, but the cook was very friendly & helpful with local tips. The inside dining table was large, and we were able to meet some of the other guests while we dined on the spread of varied breakfast items. The location was indeed perfect for visiting Yosemite, but this area seemed to also offer a lot more to do & see outside of the park. Lack of time aside, our one-night stay at A Bed of Roses in mid-May 2022 was great, and I'd definitely stay here again.

They are dedicated to making our stay comfortable and enjoyable and we look forward to seeing them at Christmastime. I would give them five golden stars for the breakfasts they prepare which was better than the meal we had on Christmas day at a very expensive venue. Additionally, the community-style breakfast table offers an opportunity to visit with people from around the world. This bed and breakfast is the perfect setting for writing and reading as it is peaceful, comfortable, full of charm and has lovely views. I encourage everyone who stays at Bed of Roses to tip well as Jo and Emma deserve it and I hope that the owners recognize their value in the form of a well-deserved, generous salary! Thank you Jo and Emma for everything!

Where to begin? I have been enjoying the restaurant associated with this hotel for many years now…read moreon my visits to the area which is a treasure near Yosemite. The town of Oakhurst is my favorite as it offers great amenities that are the closest to the best entrance to Yosemite in my opinion. Lets start with the food. This is one of the best culinary experiences I have had and it is consistently good. The three course or five course dining service is stellar. These chefs are some of the best in the world and Ive been all over the world. The leadership of Erica is not to be surpassed. She has an incredible calm spirit with a smiling happy crew that provides top notch service with warmth and class. The bartender Jordan is a delight with his great smile and kind eyes. The food experience made me feel like I was being nourished from the inside out not just with nutrition but with love and flavor that was new and revitalizing. This was my first stay at the Chateau Sureau. Oh my heart. I feel that I was healed and restored from a level of stress I dont think I realized I was carrying from our busy crazy noisy world at home. The property is exquisite with old world charm and the perfect patina of age that makes you feel you are in the old country of Paris or Austria or England. The landscape is stunning and it was raining so the fireplaces were roaring and the pines were glistening with silver drops backlit by an incredible sunset. The breakfast service is top notch and the staff is incredibly attentive. You know its good when you know each others names. Thanks to Lorenzo, Sienna, Logan, Jissel and Lori for incredible Chalet guest service. Then, there is the spa. I just had to go since I was feeling like my life was coming back to my ownership again. The Spa is gorgeous. The spa. director Way has been on this property for 20 years. I had the best facial and conversation with her. What a treasure she is. Kim was my massage therapist and she is one of the best I have ever had and my son at home is a therapist as well so I feel qualified to say so. I got to spend my time in the couples massage room which has stunning views, a balcony that looks out from the hot bubbling soaking tub that you get to use after your massage. I had a choice of oils to add and we went with elderberry which is incredible for soft skin. Its absolutely wonderful. The small scale in size lent itself to making connections with other guests that were fantastic and I made friends here while staying that will last! I will be back everytime I am in town. I was here on a rainy weeks end and it added to the magic. I can imagine what it is like in spring when the gorgeous grounds are covered in flowers blooming. I cant wait to see it again then or even next month for the holidays! Some may say there is some aging to the rooms but I say its perfect and if you have traveled to the Old Country in Europe this is part of the actual beauty and experience. Relish it!!

The rooms are small and dated with various maintenance issues. The pool was cloudy and dirty. On the positive side, the staff was very pleasant and did their best. I hope they turn it around. Good luck!

The cute town of Oakhurst, with its shops and places to eat, is a conveniently central location; near enough to have day trips to lots of interesting places to visit, such as Yosemite, Coarsegold, The Sugar Pine Railroad, Bass Lake, and Mariposa. The apartment is fully contained on the upper floor of a home, with a private entrance. The wonderful hosts live on the bottom floor. They are lovely people, always friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The home has everything we need. The kitchen is well appointed to cook meals. We just grab food at the Raleys in town on the way. The beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms are modern and clean. My favorite room is the great room with all its windows, fireplace, and comfortable seating. Also with a large deck overlooking the trees. The neighborhood is quiet. The house has enough parking space for larger vehicles, like our F450 long bed, and for several cars. We have loved staying at the Lodge so much, that we now will literally try to plan our trips around when they have availability. Highly recommend!
