Where to begin? I have been enjoying the restaurant associated with this hotel for many years now on my visits to the area which is a treasure near Yosemite. The town of Oakhurst is my favorite as it offers great amenities that are the closest to the best entrance to Yosemite in my opinion. Lets start with the food. This is one of the best culinary experiences I have had and it is consistently good. The three course or five course dining service is stellar. These chefs are some of the best in the world and Ive been all over the world. The leadership of Erica is not to be surpassed. She has an incredible calm spirit with a smiling happy crew that provides top notch service with warmth and class. The bartender Jordan is a delight with his great smile and kind eyes. The food experience made me feel like I was being nourished from the inside out not just with nutrition but with love and flavor that was new and revitalizing. This was my first stay at the Chateau Sureau. Oh my heart. I feel that I was healed and restored from a level of stress I dont think I realized I was carrying from our busy crazy noisy world at home. The property is exquisite with old world charm and the perfect patina of age that makes you feel you are in the old country of Paris or Austria or England. The landscape is stunning and it was raining so the fireplaces were roaring and the pines were glistening with silver drops backlit by an incredible sunset. The breakfast service is top notch and the staff is incredibly attentive. You know its good when you know each others names. Thanks to Lorenzo, Sienna, Logan, Jissel and Lori for incredible Chalet guest service. Then, there is the spa. I just had to go since I was feeling like my life was coming back to my ownership again. The Spa is gorgeous. The spa. director Way has been on this property for 20 years. I had the best facial and conversation with her. What a treasure she is. Kim was my massage therapist and she is one of the best I have ever had and my son at home is a therapist as well so I feel qualified to say so. I got to spend my time in the couples massage room which has stunning views, a balcony that looks out from the hot bubbling soaking tub that you get to use after your massage. I had a choice of oils to add and we went with elderberry which is incredible for soft skin. Its absolutely wonderful. The small scale in size lent itself to making connections with other guests that were fantastic and I made friends here while staying that will last! I will be back everytime I am in town. I was here on a rainy weeks end and it added to the magic. I can imagine what it is like in spring when the gorgeous grounds are covered in flowers blooming. I cant wait to see it again then or even next month for the holidays! Some may say there is some aging to the rooms but I say its perfect and if you have traveled to the Old Country in Europe this is part of the actual beauty and experience. Relish it!! read more

Never again, unfortunately. First, the pictures management posts on social media make the place look much nicer than it really is. The rooms are small and dated with various maintenance issues. The pool was cloudy and dirty. On the positive side, the staff was very pleasant and did their best. There were so many mishaps during our stay I cannot believe they charged us full price. I will never go back or recommend it. There is so much potential with this property. I hope they turn it around. Good luck! read more

Beautiful property that lives up to the Relaix & Château designation. 3 people came out to greet us as soon as we arrived. The rooms are located behind a separate gate away from the main restaurant so it felt super secure and private. They also have a Tesla destination charger on premises which was super convenient and saved us a charge on the way home. Don't miss the breakfast - everything was fresh and made to order! read more

I got an incredible chance to stay here last year and I'm still thinking about it. It was a luxurious experience unlike anything else I've ever experienced, absolute heaven. Staying here for 24 hours really felt like a dream. So beautiful, so luxurious, and the staff was all so kind and wonderful. Beyond attentive. Every little detail was thought out. Astounding! Marvelous! Fantastic! These are the words that I would use to describe my stay here. How I wish I could afford more than one night! It was such a treat from driving up and being met at the car to the goodbye note with treats for the road. I never could have imagined such all around service. This is like something out of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. The room was well appointed with his and her robes. The canopy bed was something out of a fairytale. There were a variety of treats, including a bottle of wine, waiting for us at every turn. Our slippers were laid out for us when we got back for dinner. I booked the lavender room at the last minute. I think it was off season so we could get a room. Although it is a little pricey it is absolutely worth every penny. The thing that sets this place apart is the service. It was unlike anything I've ever experienced. Everyone greets you by your last name. So everywhere we went it was Hello Mrs. Bastian. There is so much added in to the experience. We were greeted outside at the stairway. Then had complimentary valet and they unloaded our suitcases and brought them to our room. We were given a tour and given a bottle of wine and a little cake. When we came back from dinner they had a turn down service come in and took care over curtains, little chocolates, bottles of water on each side of the bed and slippers set out for us to use. As other reviewers have noted, the hotel is well appointed and makes a grand first impression. Unfortunately, that aesthetic is all you really pay for, and 5-star luxury it is not. Luxury means a range of amenities, too-shelf quality and a customized guest experiencee. This hotel - which is actually a bed and breakfast - does not hit those marks. Other than a small spa and short walking trail, the only amenity is a small pool, which we were told could be used between 9 and 6 - the hottest hours of the day. Inside the "grand salon" that also doubles as a breakfast area, there is a grand piano and shelves of books, but you're told to not touch them. There is no television in your room, so if you want to wind down with that entertainment you must do so on a small screen in that common area. There is no room service, and breakfast is just one chef-selected item that you must reserve a time the day before to enjoy. Housekeeping tries too hard to mimic an upscale vibe in cringe-worthy or just silly ways: ie, rearranging our shoes, removing a used razor from the bathtub and placing it on a doily in the next room, answering a request to use the kitchen microwave (there are no microwaves or refrigeration in your room so you have to ask permission to store any personal consumables) to pop a bag of popcorn by serving it back on one of their doily-laced platters. All the instructions to tip-toe around made us feel like guests imposing in someone else's house, or visitors to a stuffy museum. And yet with only 10 guest rooms to service, sloppy mistakes still got made. For instance, we were were woken up by a knocking on our door at 6 am on our last day as we were trying to get a good rest before a long flight. It was an employee with a cup of coffee meant for another room. As for the food, while the restaurant is the best option in a town otherwise limited to fast food, the menu is dated and unimaginative. We stayed four nights and every morning for breakfast were served a remix of the same three ingredients: eggs, cheddar cheese and spinach. The prefix dinner is also underwhelming for the hype - scallops, ribeye and duck breast with the type of side salads and deserts you'd get in any steakhouse. It is far from a five-star food experience and not worth the $180 per person price tag. For the price, we were really expecting more for our honeymoon (it's also odd that for a "boutique operation" they never asked if we were celebrating a special occasion). One more word of caution: the air conditioning is as spotty as the WiFi, and you should avoid the Geranium Room next to the kitchen as there is no consideration from the staff clanking around for people sleeping on the other side of the wall. One final note: we handed out more than $50 in tips on our first day to all the attendants hovering before we met one with the integrity to decline it and explain that the staff divides a 20% service fee added to the bill each day. How disappointing that this was not disclosed with all the other rules of our stay at check-in. Again, not very 5-star treatment. read more

Came here for a mother's day celebration with my mother. We got the ciboulette room. Has two full size beds. Small but cute. Upon arrival they provided us with champagne and snacks. With our stay they offered us tea or coffee to be sent to our room in the morning but sadly that never came. We went down for breakfast which was very tasty but unfortunately they didn't provide us with any utensils. My mother had to go into the kitchen and ask for some. Not a big deal but small inconveniences. The staff there are very nice! My favorite was a young lady (dark hair) I didn't catch her name but she did mention her mother lives in Africa, was very hospitable made our experience feel like home. Finished our stay by walking around the garden which is a must! Play some chess and relaxed on the adult swings. Followed by massages. read more

I had such a marvelous stay at the Chateau--something that I would compare to what I imagine the afterlife would look like. The staff was always extra attentive and accommodating to any matters we had, from those working in the restaurant to hotel staff everyone had a kind and warm-hearted approach. The hotel is stunning beyond belief, it's like you momentarily leave California and transport yourself into a French countryside villa. When we first arrived, they had a tray of treats awaiting and little notes sprinkled throughout our stay. Everything was clean, cozy, and warm. I'd recommend reveling in a good book while you're here (especially near the fireplace). Bring some wool socks. At the Elderberry House Restaurant, the caviar service exceeded my expectations. The blini were utterly delectable paired with the sturgeon eggs and creme fraiche. I'd go so far as to say it was the best meal I've ever had. The European Style Breakfast is a set of two courses (I went for yoghurt with granola) and an omelet that was anything but amazing. I rarely sing high praises but the combination of delicious food, European rustic interiors, boundful nature, routine hospitality--I had to write something out. Stayed here and booked our reception for our wedding this last weekend. I'd like to start of by saying MOST of the staff was pretty wonderful and attentive. They are NOT my complaint... My issues lie as follows: 1.) Stayed in the saffron room. Considering what they charged us per night (700$ or so?), you would assume the mattress would be at least tolerable? No, both my wife and I are still trying to recover from the bent out of shape box we slept on. I had to sleep on the floor because my t-spine went out. HORRENDOUS mattress. 2.) Absolutely no water pressure in the showers upstairs. I had to either wait 3-5 minutes for hot water, or try to shake what water did come out from the shower head. Rinsing you hair out isn't even a possibility. Tried 3 different family members rooms on the second floor, issue reigned true in all three. 3.) HANDS DOWN my biggest issue. There is a little shrewd man with glasses and a pretty heavy accent that runs the event planning for the facility. On the night of our reception, around 1145-1200, I bumped in to him on my way to the restroom. Keep in mind I am the groom, and also paying the hefty price for this place. Casually, I asked what time they would need us to start packing out. This pretentious little weasel looks at his watch and says, "Well, it's midnight, so......." And then glares at me. I, along with multiple guests noticed him hovering at the windows glaring at us during the reception. I don't quite understand what that's all about, but if you feel inconvenienced by guests, get into a new line of work. That dude was trash. 4.) 45 minute wait time for the main course during the reception. 5.) you were told weeks in advance there would be 3 children under three at the reception, but made no effort to have more than two high chairs. With what you get paid, the lack of effort is astounding. My 6 month old had to lap surf during dinner? No, absurdly large failure on your part as a restaurant. 6.) pretty petty, but all is fair. I was told I had a specific spot because my truck was large and packed for the valley most of the trip. My spot was given away and no effort was made to remedy. 7.) when leaving, we asked for a few minutes to finished packing 2 hours before check out. Some blonde kid with a mustache said, " I'll set my time for 3 minutes." Like he was trying to rush us out. Over all, I'm sorry, but you claim to be a five diamond location. If you show that off, you had better step your game up. And most certainly when patrons spend multiple thousands of dollars on your location. I appreciate the bottles of wine, prompt cleaning, and breakfasts. I appreciate the wonderful woman who welcomed us and was so gracious. The stars are for that. The chateau itself is clever and beautiful, but as previously stated, you DESPERATELY need to remedy the other issues. 10/10 would not return, 10/10 think the snobby little event planner should be fired, 10/10 think the pushy blonde kid should be reprimanded, 10/10 would not recommend. read more

We've come here a couple of times in the last year, and this has become our favorite place to stay when visiting Yosemite. The property is beautiful. The landscaping is lovely, and there are plenty of places to walk and relax. The gardens, pool, and fountains are so pretty here. The interior is equally as wonderful. The huge library is really nice. A beautiful piano is in the corner. The rooms are filled with antiques. They also have the cutest little chapel here. The service is great. They meet you at your car when you arrive, and everyone is so pleasant during your stay. I especially love the freshly baked cookies in the room when we arrived. The restaurant, Erna's Elderberry House, is a nice spot for a special occasion. Their Cellar Bar is also open on the weekends. Chateau du Sureau is definitely an amazing place to stay when visiting Yosemite. The service is wonderful, and the property is so serene and beautiful! read more

OMG! The most comfiest bed ever! The most awesomest staff ever! Château Du Sureau was such a treat. Worth every penny! Felt very welcomed and home upon arrival. Staff buzzed us in through the gate and greeted us in the front. We arrived early so our room wasn't quite ready. While waiting for our room, the staff prepared us a welcoming salmon with cheese open-face sandwich and some fresh fruits and refreshing iced lemonade. They brought our luggage from the car into the room when it was ready. The staff are extremely tentative! They noticed we went to the pool so they came to check up on us frequently to see if we needed anything. We left to the bar at the restaurant for less than 1 hr and when we came back our room was turned down. Loved it! Loved that they have snacks, candies, goodies throughout the house for guests to enjoy. Loved that they didn't talk about money/check in when we first arrived and saved all that in the end at check-out. We left our room unlocked majority of the time when we stepped outside of our room and security was not a problem. The complimentary morning breakfast was a nice surprise and not the typical eggs and toast breakfast, but a legit sit down fancy restaurant kind of breakfast. I researched the perfect location for a luxury, secluded romantic and most importantly quiet getaway to surprise my wife for a 4 day Valentine's Day trip. This estate was a superb blend of European charm and mountain seclusion. 5 Star experience I would happily enjoy again. We needed to get away from it all, if just for 24hrs. The check in process was a dream. Five minutes into our arrival Rani had made us feel at home, and I do not say that fleetingly. Within a half hour of arrival she had provided anything we could possibly need and handed us off to the Chef for dinner. Dinner provided a highlight with an exquisite caviar service that proved to be a rare treat. After dinner we wandered up to the Great Room to simply sit for a minute and finish our drinks. FOUR hours later my wife and I were still sitting in the Great Room, sipping chamomile tea, and winding down a most memorable evening. At one point Tina, our overnight host, poked her head in, introduced herself and made us feel perfectly taken care of. As she was leaving, she closed two giant wooden medieval doors "So you have a bit more privacy", she added. It felt like we were sitting in an episode of The Crown. I am not giving up the secrets of the Great Room, but I promise you, if you slow down and take a moment to really see the details, you will find magic. Everything about the building and landscape is just top notch. But you can buy that anywhere. It is the people who work here, who facilitate the ease of your stay, That is why you come. I traveled across the country to surprise my mom for her birthday and treat her and my sisters to a luxurious experience at the 5 star Chateau du Sureau. I booked the Library Suite - Villa Sureau- a grand 2-room suite situated in the Villa Sureau- as described on their website. Pros: ⁃ The property is well maintained. The landscaping personnel know what they're doing. The property has that European fairytale atmosphere. The original founder, Ms. Erna, did a great job with her vision. It's absolutely lovely. ⁃ The rooms were spick and span. The decor and cleanliness were what you would expect from a 5 star hotel. The decor brought me back to a different era. ⁃ The restaurant, The Elderberry House, located on the property had a delicious selection of food. We had my mom's two sisters and niece join us for dinner. Everyone enjoyed their food, the presentation, AND ERICA. Erica was the epitome of excellent customer service. She was genuine, professional, knowledgeable, and kind. Everything she said and did showed us that she wanted us to have the best experience. The kitchen staff also delivered. My mom felt special, and everyone was happy. Cons: -There was a worker who came up to our dinner party with a pad and pen and sternly started asking me, in front of the guests, how many people are staying for the night and how many people are going to have breakfast. This was unexpected. We were in the middle of our discussion and there she came with these questions, out of nowhere, demanding an answer right away. I told her my two sisters might spend the night with me and my mom. She then proceeds to tell me, in front of everyone, that they can stay but she'll change our two room suite stay to the entire villa for an additional $1,500, I told her I already spent over $1,200 for a two room suite and didn't intend to spend another $1,000. If I knew this would be an issue, I would've booked something else. She says, "Yes, if you wanted to book something else you could've. But you didn't." Okay. She said that I was only allowed to have a total of two people in my two room suite. I was so confused. I didn't want to argue with her in front of everyone. She kept on repeating, "I need to know right now. How many people...?" So on and so forth. I told her I'd talk to my sisters and we'd decide who'd stay. She automatically says, "Every additional person who stays is an extra $100." All she talked about was money! It was ridiculous. In all my traveling, I've never experienced such passive aggressive confrontation at a hotel; especially at a luxury hotel. This was a first. Not once did she even care to ask how our experience was or make any kind comment. All she talked about was money! I asked her to deliver tea to our suite for our guests to have before they'd leave. My sisters were shocked with this lady and said that they'd leave after dinner. I gave her a response regarding the numbers, and she took off. A different worker came to us and nicely said, "I was told you wanted tea brought up to your villa. What tea would you like?" In spite of all the pros, this con really left a poor impression on the location. -The outdoor Roman Spa wasn't heating which was a huge disappointment since one of the reasons I also booked the suite was to have our own private jacuzzi. read more

Drinks are served in the grand salon and it appears they are complimentary or part of your high room cost. Count how many you are served because they will charge you. We drank wine, but guests we sat with, drank bourbons. Several bourbons and were not charged. We had stayed here before, but sadly this experience will stop us from returning. read more

This is a very special place. We're here for two nights and checking out tomorrow. I couldn't wait to write the yelp review. In an era of luxury, chain hotels, this is a refreshing change. You will find the most beautiful setting, opulence, luxury, well appointed design details with everything thought through. You feel at home here. The bed and linens are so fabulous. Service is of course wonderful and friendly. My husband and I have decided to make an annual trip here. When you call to request something to be delivered to your room, they exceed one's expectations without the customer having to ask. Example: I needed some ice to continuously ice my head. Instead of bringing a bucket with ice, they brought a whole ice chest filled with ice. This way ice wouldn't melt quickly. I didn't mention this; they just exceeded expectations and thought it through to help me. You will find this theme throughout! We will see you next year! I will dream about the bed, linens, and pillows until we return! My husband and I sat after breakfast for two hours talking. They continued to bring us coffee with a friendly smile. Chateau Sureau is absolutely perfect. It is beautiful. The rooms are appointed with every convenience you can think of. Fresh cookies and wine. Lovely toiletries. Beautiful decor. Candles and bath salts for the jacuzzi bathtub. Makeup mirror. Decadently soft linens. Chocolates, linen floor cover and slippers by the bed as a turndown service. And a small savory snack is served in your room in the late afternoon. The breakfast is superb. Delicious coffee, perfectly ripe fruit, homemade melt-in-your-mouth croissants, and serval choices of a main dish. And the outdoor patio is lovely and serene in the morning. The service is also impeccable. Every need is anticipated and delivered with a smile. They are so friendly and welcoming. The spa is also one of a kind. It is so elegant with its Art Deco decor and color scheme. The treatments are excellent, and all begin with a footbath and homemade small goodie. Afterwards you are invited to relax with homemade ice tea and another little bite of deliciousness. The adjacent restaurant, Erna's Elderberry, is one of the best restaurants I have ever had the pleasure to eat at. The food is sublime in both presentation and flavor. But that's in a different review. To sum up, this place is worth every penny. It's everything a hotel should be at this price point, and more. read more

We called here three times trying to book a room. The first woman we spoke with was lovely. Very gracious and warm. She's forbidden, however, to make any reservations. She told me their reservationist was on another line and that she could take my number and have their reservationist call us back. I gave her my cell phone number and explained that we do have a new landline at our home but that because it is so new---I haven't yet fully memorized our landline number. I gave her my cell phone number for the call back and explained that our home gets poor cell phone reception. I asked her to explain this fact to their reservationist so I could get her return number and call them back from our in home landline as soon as she calls. A while later I received a brusque call from "Christy" their reservationist. She called on the cell phone line and hung up on me with an impatient and audible "hmph!" the moment our call was hit by interference. Unfortunately, she did so mid-sentence as she was giving me her return number. I looked their number up again on Yelp. Called directly back and asked Christy why she just hung up mid-sentence and with such a tone of annoyance when I had already explained there would be interference and I would need to call back on our landline. She gave no apology whatsoever. On to the their rooms: Their prices are hefty. They're they highest priced property within miles. I have no problem with paying a higher price for better quality. That said, she explained that the room would cost $585 for each weeknight and $645 for the Sunday night when we first checked in for our 6 night stay. Unfortunately, three of us could not fit in the bed so she was willing to have "an extra bed" brought into the room for an extra $100 per night. Oh my. I'd have actually gone for this except I pointblank asked her if this "extra bed" was really a fold up cot. She answered "yes". To pay fees like theirs is one thing. But the greed factor of charging an extra $100 a night for a freakin fold up cot? Oh please. Too much greed and too snippy and impatient of a young woman manning their reservations. read more

This is an extremely high end hotel with a Forbes five star and a AAA five diamond rating. So this review is of how it compares to similarly rated hotels, such as the Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay and the Adolphus in Dallas. It is an extremely well appointed small hotel with lovely individually designed rooms and baths. To add to the serenity and sense of being at a resort, none of the rooms has a television. Guests are greeted as they drive onto the gated property. Homemade cookies and a mini cake are in every guest room. None of this required a tip because a service charge is added to the room, obviating the need to fumble for cash. We have been to the Chateau several times for more than a decade. The service has really declined over the past few years. Erna's Elderberry House and Chateau du Sureau earned their reputation through service. The staff was at the beck and call of the guests, who paid a high price for this service. Want a beverage late night? Just give a call. That extra level of service was missing this trip, which was about a month ago. It used to be that the manager took note of things like anniversaries and birthdays, acknowledging them with flowers or balloons. This trip, that was missing, and the breakfast staff even seemed a bit perturbed that we asked for things. The staff had almost an attitude that the guests should be happy that they were even there. I had a hard time deciding on whether to give my most recent experience three or four stars. Considering that full board at the hotel is nearly a grand an evening, it's not too much to ask to be fully pampered with attention to detail. Like a dream, Chateau Du Sureau is magical and amazing! It's a five star inn located in Oakhurst, CA. Just miles from Yosemite National Park, and a few hours drive from Hearst Castle, the chateau is pure luxury in the middle of seemingly nowhere... The chateau is small, maybe 10-12 rooms, with a kitchen, dining hall, grand sitting area with a grand piano, a lovely outdoor swimming pool, and not to be missed, a charming little chapel. Also on the grounds is the award winning restaurant, Elderberry House, which serves dinner nightly. The SERVICE at the chateau is just outstanding. Every detail is taken care of, from chocolates at turn-down, to fresh cookies in the morning. You ask, and you shall receive, this was my expierience. Every request of mine was met, with family like hospitality, and with professional urgency. The service is familial, but in a respectful way, never letting you forget YOU ARE THE GUEST. I loved my stay at the Chateau Du Sureau, and I look forward to my next stay with them, in the near future. Thank you to the Chateau for such a great expierience! read more

Maybe it was because of they hype that we expected more, but relative to similarly rated hotels this one disappointed. It is a nice hotel, well appointed etc, and the restaurant was nice, but they charge for every little extra (which is a bit surprising given the base price). They also take the 'stuffy french style' a bit to far - the staff crossed the line to aloof. Overall, it was certainly a very nice place to stay but we didn't feel it was worth the price or lived up to the reviews. read more

WOW! We found this place by chance/luck...we were planning a trip to the Yosemites and had our hearts set on The Ahwahnee because it's supposed to be the best place...well, they were sold out so I had to scramble, search and google for a decent place then (angels singing)...I came upon this place. Thank GOD! I don't know where to start but this place is amazing. From the time we drove up to the gate...we knew we were in for a treat. It's a very small "Chateau", I think 10 rooms? so you get fantastic personal service...they just make you feel so pampered and important, like the master of the place. They remember your name and addres you as Mr., Mrs., Ms...checking on you every once in a while to see if you have need. Would you like a cup of tea? Some sweets? It's so cozy and oh so luxurious. Each room has a theme and is beautifully decorated. We were given a tour of the place then shown to our room where all of our belongings were already in place, hung in armoires... The fireplace was welcoming with its flickers and crackling sound, the mantel had a bag of freshly baked mini cookies wrapped in clear cellophane tied w/ a ribbon. The sitting area has a tray with a pot of hot tea (their special blend and it's so good!) and tea sandwiches waiting, to "nourish" us from the drive...sigh! The canopy bed was simply divine - SO comfy! I can go on and on and on but you get where I'm going with all of this... The "chateau" is beautiful inside and out. We took a walk and just felt so relaxed...the surrounding is just to peaceful and serene...time seem to be still... We had dinner next door at the Elderberry House (another MUST, see review) and came back to the special service I ordered for my husband for his b-day)...a hot bath was drawn w/ lavendar...candles all around the tub, the fireplace w/ a roaring fire...it's so romantic that it's beyond words... Breakfast next day was another fantastic experience. Everything was perfectly prepared, great service and surrounding... I was so sad to leave but we'll be back...oh, they give you little carepacks upon your departure, some snacks to get you going! I LOVE this place! *Dictated by my mother, who refuses to join Yelp but was so moved by this place that she made me do it for her. ;) Our entire visit from the very first second to the very last moment was like a fairy tale. Upon entering the hotel we were greeted by the staff lined up on the grand staircase. Not only were our accommodations clean and comfortable, the service was impeccable. We were always made to feel as comfortable a we would in our own homes. Every corner of the house is decorated with beautiful antiques and it shows that the owner painstakingly paid attention to every little detail. Every fresh baked pastry, bread, cookie, etc was delicious and made from scratch by Erna's kitchen and restaurant. We will go back to visit as often as possible. This might mean creating fake special occasions just so we can have an excuse. read more

We stayed here years ago on the way to Yosemite National Park. It is romantic, clean,and intimate yet not intrusive. I was a Girl Scout and used to love to camp and then I grew up. My husband wanted to go camping I did not so we compromised and stayed here and went to Yosemite. I do not remember all of the details except that I felt really pampered. It was beautiful and elegant. The rate includes hot breakfast and after noon tea just like at the Jersey shore. We went through a phase of staying at Inn's and B and B's. This was one of the best! If you follow my reviews you know I don't give 5 stars easy. The criteria to me for 5 stars is the best of it's kind anywhere. I do not know if it is the best of it's kind. I have no real complaints The rooms were a little small and I would say the best Inn I have stayed at was http://www.yelp.com/list/hotel-motel-holiday-inn-bird-in-hand-2 because of the size of the rooms and jacuzzi. The dining , service and everything else was great and if in the area again for any reason I would love to stay here! I am well traveled so don't take the fact that I don't give it 5 stars as a sign something is wrong. Not at all! It is one of the best I have ever stayed at! read more

This place is so wonderful!! Everything from the beautiful rooms and European decor, the servant like staff, the amazing restaurant and the relaxing environment. The turn down service with the chocolates and the picnic items for us to bring to the park were so wonderful. Breakfast was top notch! The only thing we did not enjoy was the spa experience. My husband had a really bad lady that kept coughing, was a smoker (so smelled of cigarette smoke) and fell off her chair during the massage and started laughing. She seemed to be all over the place also. My experience was better than my husband but nothing worth bragging about....we think it may have been the massage we chose. It was a bummer considering it cost us $400 and we both did not enjoy the experience at all. Everything else made up for the bad massages and that is why I give this beautiful little retreat 5 stars!! The restaurant was the best I have ever dined at and I have traveled all around the world to a lot of great restaurants. Such a great place to stay when visiting Yosemite, it is so amazing you wont want to leave. We will be back for sure!! read more

Wonderful hotel! This is a delightful bed and breakfast type hotel, and the food in the morning was very good. All of the staff was friendly and helpful at all times. We came in after dining at Erna's, and sat in the parlor to play chess for a while and enjoy a bottle of wine. We were checked on a few times to make sure we didn't need anything, which was nice. It was a beautiful place to spend the evening, very quiet. There is a piano in the parlor, and I could imagine how lovely it is in there when someone is playing the piano for everyone. The property had many things to do outside, unfortunately we couldn't stay long enough to enjoy them. There is a life-sized chess board, a bocce court, a pool, and walking trails. Decided to come to Yosemite national park. Called America Express concierge service. They recommended this place. Let me begin by stating that this is a bed and breakfast place. Not your usual B&B. The owner of the property has done a marvelous job building this property. 10 rooms in total. From the moment you arrive you are pampered. Every detail has been thought of. The staff are extremely accommodating and the service one of a five star property. I'm not easily impressed by hotels , but this place is one that I would highly recommend to anyone planing on visiting Yosemite. read more

We were treated to a full-board package for our 50th wedding anniversary by our two children. We were treated to an idyllic stay in the sweet geranium room. It was like staying in the Hearst Castle, with wait staff attending to our every need and wish - a la Downton Abbey. Our beds were "turned down" while we were at dinner at Erna's and a note accompanied our return to the room, with a hand written note inviting us to set our shoes outside the door, where they would be polished returned to us in the morning if we wished. It's been a few years since we stayed here. It is just as amazing now as it was then. The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable and they pamper you with anything you need. The room was appointed beautifully- the bed is super comfortable- and you are steps from their highly acclaimed restaurant- Elderberry House.
