Having been through different rooms on both first and second floors, we've seen a variety of types of rooms here. They've all been good for our stays. It's still sort of out of the way in the southern part of Merced, but has plenty of pros to it. Breakfast was good - it could get really busy between 8-9 so it's best to avoid that time. Finally got to try the fitness center - which was great. They had treadmills, wipes, tissue paper, dumbbells up to 50 lbs, and mirrors for lifting. It wasn't super busy so that was Really nice Too. read more

Worst hotel ever. Don't come we came in on a Sunday and on Monday we had our company van break into. They broke our passenger window and took all of our teams tools. There's a lot of homeless around the area fence next to hotel is broken you can see razes by the fence in the back. Front feet says there is security but it didn't seem like it. Cámaras are only pointing thru the pool and doors nine face the the parking lot. Spoke to people around the area and was told they are known for breaks in. Won't recommend this place. read more

I've had my vehicle broken into TWICE at this location this year alone. I've lost over $6k worth of tools between last time and this time. Their legal department won't return my correspondence as well. Yes, yes, they have a very official-looking sign informing you that they aren't responsible for vehicle theft...but that's not 100% true. They SHOULD have reasonable cameras, security or both to protect their property. This site does not, at this moment in time. The previous theft out of my vehicle involved a broken window (a smash and grab) and I was parked under a street light in front of the hotel but off to the right a little...nope, got woken up at 4am by the hotel to say your car was broken into right in front of the hotel but no camera footage for something you could watch happen from the entry away. Needless to say this last time, 7 months later, and they robbed we while backed into a bush DIRECTLY in front of the hotel and still no one saw anything. You couldn't look at the two incidents and NOT suspect that the hotel, via one of their employees, is complicit. DON'T stay here. Go to the El Capitan where you pay more but your vehicle is in a secure parking garage if you don't want to be robbed. read more

Sadly, this hotel should not hold the Hilton/Hampton name. The breakfast was a joke. No fruit, yogurt, or any type of meat/protein to this free hot breakfast. The bathroom was in need of a deep cleaning. The pool and hot tub were my greatest let down. My husband called to confirm that they had a hot tub because that's the one thing I asked for. There were so many hazards. If not careful, people can get hurt. The hot tub didn't even work. I saw torn and unkempt chairs. There was an exposed electrical box from the electrical chair for the handicapped. I most definitely will NOT be returning. The only reason they got 2 stars is due to the friendly staff. read more

Stayed at Hampton Inn one weekend with some friends. It was not the best Hilton experience that we have had, but it was OK. The staff was nice. We even witnessed a customer giving the employee at the front desk a hard time. But, the employee stayed very calm and collected. The rooms were OK, but definitely could use some improvements. For example, missing bathroom tiles, lighting that did not work, slow draining showers. These were not issues in all the rooms, but just some overall examples throughout our rooms. The rooms also did not have a lot of lighting, so they were quite dim. The main areas, such as lobby and dining area were kept nice and clean. They did not have automatic housekeeping, but you could call in to request for that or anything you needed. There was a pool, but was not available to use at the time. Parking was free, but they do give out parking passes for overnight parking. We were a little concerned with the smell at first. But, it is more of the Merced area and not the hotel itself. read more

We checked in Saturday @ 6:30 pm , Shirlee welcomed us warmly at the front desk . I made my reservations online on the Hilton Honors app . I mistakenly reserved for next week, Shirlee rebooked my stay for today and helped cancelled the other reservation. My first initial thought of the exterior of the hotel parking lot , it was not well maintained . Leaves , landscape wood mulch in the parking lot area had lots of debris, the hotel front door didn't look like it had been swept . Our room was below expectations of Hilton / Hampton standards . Some of the bathroom tiles were missing , low water shower pressure , I reached to adjust the different settings and front piece of the shower head came undone . Wall paper peeling and stained . Our bed was clean , Shirlee provided excellent service at check in . While we walked to the elevator we were greeted by a friendly smiling employee with a "Good morning". while she pulled out the trash bag in front of the elevator . Not a lot of choices for a Hilton property in Merced . At $159 a night our room should have better been well maintained. The owner of this property has got to do better . Been staying here almost every week or so due to business travel. The accomodations are dated. Stayed here over the summer on some of the hottest days and the a/c in the hotel was not working. The pool has been closed for months. Most of the staff is rude. The breakfast is terrible. I'm looking forward to the Hilton Garden Inn when it is completed. read more

We came here for the weekend for my niece's quinceanera and we had a fine time. The check-in was easy, we found our room, went in and were fine. We checked in a bit later than I wanted and my room wasn't quite what I ordered. But they did have a walk-in shower and I ordered it because my husband is older and he's fallen, so I figured that it was a better choice and wanted to try it. At check-in the receptionist checked to make sure there was a disability. I don't know what my husband said, I was parking, but we got the room with the walk in shower. The only issue is that the shower area should be a bit larger, so that we don't get so much water on the rest of the floor. But, it was fine to stay here. My husband liked it too. We got breakfast the next and it was fine. The people who work here are very, very nice. I actually got stuck in the elevator, and the woman cleaning the rooms was more responsive than the receptionist. She called someone to take care of it. I was able to study downstairs in the breakfast area. They had waffles, oatmeal, cold cereal, breads, juice, whole fruit, fruit salad and coffee. This was fine. I had an issue with the WiFi, but that was resolved. read more

Very friendly and lovely staff! Staff is so nice and helpful. They have a good amenities. However, and perhaps most importantly, my room had ant infestation. Ants EVERYWHERE. We noticed a few ants when we checked in. Saw there was some construction near our room, so we assumed the ants had made their way in from there. Next morning, we noticed more ants but since we were busy we didn't say anything. Came back from our event, and there were ants all over our room. The ants were over our stuff. Never seen so many ants before. There was ant line wrapping around the ceiling of our room. I told the front desk and their response was that they didn't know why that kept happening...as in I wasn't the only guest with this problem. All they did was give me a new room right next door which also has ants but much much far less. This hotel is also in a rather sketchy area so beware at nighttime. Edit: oh and the doors (main entrance and some of the side doors) were out of order so you had to wait for staff to let you in or you were lucky and the door magically worked that time. The night we checked in the hotel was dirty, sticky residue stuck to the floor by the door. The table had not been cleaned or wiped down. We didn't say anything as we were told there was only one staff there that night and it was late. We then checked out the next morning on our way out we said good morning and good bye to the house keeper cleaning the rooms leading up to ours. We left. Later that night I realized I forgot my earrings on the night stand. I called for them to check the room and they were not there. I returned to check myself and was told I already checked out and that was that, I would not be aloud to go back in the room. The two females in the front then became confrontational. Although I returned the following day and was told the system showed no one checking the room out afterwards they refused to let me go up and check the room. We ended up calling the police and made a police report. I then talked to the manager the following day and he was of absolute no help. So to sum it all up, after sleeping in a dirty hotel the house keeper stole my $1800 earrings. We checked out, the room gets cleaned, nobody checks in for three days and the earrings are still missing. Bad place to stay, take your business elsewhere where. We have stayed at many Hampton Inn & Suites and this one was not as nice as the rest. It is in a good location located not far off the 99 Freeway. We were only staying one night because we were passing through to So Cal. The girl working the front desk was very nice and welcoming. The area where you drive up when you first check in was littered with cigarette butts and the trash can near the door was overflowing. The lobby area and hallway leading to our room was clean and looked good. The room was clean and well stocked. The only issue I had with the room was the window faced the parking lot and shining right into our room was one of the overhead parking lot lights. I checked and there wasn't a blackout curtain to close. The screen was also ripped pretty bad in one corner, as if a dog was trying to get out. While it was too cold and rainy to swim, the pool was green and full of leaves so it's been a while since someone has cleaned it out. The breakfast was the standard as we have seen in other Hampton Inns and it was well stocked with all kinds of stuff. One of the things I have to note that makes this review 2 stars is that all the ice machines in this location were out of order and we had to get ice from the kitchen, which they were more than nice enough to give us some. I hope this location can look into some of these things I have mentioned and correct them for future guests. read more

I checked into this Hotel on Wednesday July 13, and immediately had issues. First the remote didn't work. I called the front desk where they promised me one asap. After waiting 40 minutes, I went down to get it. It was obvious she was overwhelmed so I chalked it up as "well, it happens" and went upstairs for a shower. Then the A/C went out. It was a 101 degree day so it was still in the 90's at 9:30 at night. I called again. 20 min later she arrived, confirmed the thermostat LED display was dead and told me she'd get me another room. So I packed all my things at 10;00 pm and headed to the reception area where I got a key for the room next door to my previous one. That one as well had the A/C damaged. By this time I'm sweating profusely, tired and thinking of my early morning ahead. I went back downstairs where she offered a free stay and that she'd provide me a fan. A fan. No assistance to get another room or hotel. A fan. I am not blaming the receptionist. She is doing what she is trained to do by the ownership. That there is no checklist of things to check on the turn to ensure all things work is a sin in the hospitality industry. That Hilton lends its name to this place is a travesty. This was my first experience after subscribing to The Hilton Honors app and Amex Credit card. I took out my phone, launched Hotels dot com and got an amazing room at a Hyatt property (El Capitan - 5 stars Amazing). Definitely not even close to being a good first impression. It is very obvious that the owner puts zero money into this outdated hotel. Hilton should revoke the franchise from this "owner". Not my favorite stay at a Hampton Inn. Okay lets get through the major things first. Bed was clean, bathroom was clean, front desk staff is nice. Cool, that's the reason I stayed the full length of my reservation. Now the part that made it not so great. 1) The furniture had some damage. Have you ever had some cheap wood furniture that you spilled a drink on and the furniture began to bubble on the surface? Or you had a hot plate of food on it and it ruined the finish? Yeah. This is the furniture that is in the room except they never replaced it like other hotels would. The desk, the chest of drawers, and the bedside table all of it had damage. 2) Walls are thin. VERY thin. I could hear my neighbors quite a bit and it woke me from my sleep multiple times. I'm not a light sleeper either. I could hear other neighbors hitting the floor from above to get them to quiet down a bit. Never heard noise at this level at other Hampton Inns. 3) When you walk outside, it smells faintly of cow manure. I kid you not. I'm familiar with the smell as I drive through farm land sometimes during road trips. So yeah, that is a thing as well. If you are looking for a clean bed and don't care about much else, cool this is your place. But if you are expecting the level of hotel you see at other Hampton Inns across the nation, this is NOT it. I was very disappointed in my treatment At this hotel. I arrived at 10:50pm. The woman at the front desk said, "We are overbooked. Your room was given away. The hotel is full." Yelp 2018 - 6 out of 325 I stay at a lot of hotels. Hampton Inn are my favorite. With that, I warn you, this is the WORST bed I have ever stayed in. It doesn't even come close to the "oh I wish I was at home" or "maybe I can add a few pillows underneath me". This bed has something wrong. It had to be a trampoline bed. Every time I moved, I watched my hubs bounce up and vice-versa. Did I complain? No. I thought this bed had to be consistent with the hotel. Maybe I should have, Hampton Inn is 100% guaranteed. We just left the next morning even though we had another night. Pros - the Jacuzzi in the room. I had issues figuring out what lever had hot water. I think this was a blonde moment. The breakfast had a large fruit tray with strawberries and blackberries. This was nice for a change. Cons - The shower wasn't the cleanest. Oh and did I mention the bed. read more

I slept at other Hampton before and this is by far the worst . The hotel lobby was hot. The room we stay in didn't have any shower towels , called the front desk and they brought only have small towels. Toilet roll was almost out , they didn't have extra in the room. Room service never brought any toilet. The lotion in the bathroom was used. Guess they never restock the room. When we check out there was a snake!!! In the front lobby door. I usually have good experiences in Hampton Inns, but this was very disappointing! It took me 45 mins to get to my room. There was a line 6 people deep to check in, I was given a key to a room that was already occupied. When I finally got to my room, it looked barely clean. The sheets on the bed looked wrinkled and previously used, the hair dryer was broken. I could go on and on. Needless to say this will be the last time I stay here. I travel to this area for work on a monthly basis, and generally stay at the Marriott next door, but thought I'd try the Hampton this trip. Bad decision! read more

Unfortunately I can only give 2 stars. The front desk associate Jonathan was amazing. As was the lady manager (I didn't catch her name) Another positive is the breakfast spread. Impressed. I had requested the quietest room away from elevator and ice machine. The first room was 4 rooms from both ice machine (which was broken and only one in the hotel)and elevator and was missing the latch on the door. They moved me a couple doors down. This room was just "janky". Fridge was unstable as was the cabinet it was in. You had to shut the door just right to get it to stay. The desk looked like a dog chewed on it and toilet had a black stain around the bowl.The bed was AWFUL. It felt like it was 15 years old and made horrible squeaks each time I moved. I came to this hotel to relax. I did not relax. Final note the yards are dead and overgrown and "crack addicts" live in the bushes and bust car windows. I will not stay again. read more
