First time staying here, interesting location. Older building, needs upgrades. Staff was friendly, lobby is nice. Not close enough to walk anywhere. Parking is small, and one of our friends cars got blocked in by another vehicle. There is a restaurant attached and a room that's virtual reality golf/ soccer that's "Top Golf" only stayed one night and the price was reasonable. Had a weird walkway in front of our bedroom window so kept the curtains closed. Would stay again for the price. Not sure if I'd recommend, there are nicer hotels, but great for a quick stay. read more

I stayed at the Courtyard while attending a conference. This was their overflow hotel and just about a 10min walk from where the conference took place (at the Marriott Downtown). I generally did not have any issues during my 4 night stay. I slept good every single night...their beds are extremely comfy. Cleanliness was spot on. They refilled the conditioner dispenser immediately when I submitted a request via the Bonvoy app. I had a small issue on my final night when I had a guest over, where they smoked a cigarette out on the balcony. I did not know that their "no smoking" signs meant on the buildings premises and not just meant for their indoors. I got assessed the $250 fee as stated on their signs. I paid, but I think their signs need to be more specific. I know better now. This incident really reaffirms their good policy in offering an excellent environment and ambiance for their guests. I do have to say that their on-site restaurant needs a bit more work w their food and drink preparation. It wasn't to the standard of other Marriott's I've eaten at. But overall, it was a good stay. read more

Came here to use their parking garage through rightway parking service since we drove into town for a cruise and were told ahead of time that we'd need to park off site from the cruise terminal. We got to the hotel and I went inside to let them know I paid for parking. I was told to let the valet person know and they'd lift up the gate for me. We did that and were told to park on the higher floors. There was only parking on the top floor. We took pics of the car and where it was parked and took the elevator down with our luggage. We needed to use the restroom and one of the front desk attendants was kind and provided me with a key card to enter the restrooms. They have water in the lobby, along with comfortable seats and individual hand wipes in a basket at the front desk. When we got back from the cruise, our car was safe and sound, and we were on our way back home. read more

Hotel is really nice. They are going through some renovations so it can be quite loud if you are staying in the room during the day. They started pretty early so if you aren't up, it will wake you up. The front desk staff here were all nice. The hotel restaurant was good as well. My issue was with parking and the parking deck. First off, you are charged to park in the parking garage. We were told to park anywhere above the second deck. We parked on the 3rd floor. We made it in about 3am. When we got ready to leave about 9am, someone had tried to bust our window of our rental. I spoke with the deck manager who tried to call the police on my behalf but really wasn't very helpful. Apparently, there are no cameras. LBPD never came...so if you stay here, you will love it but be cautious of the parking. read more

I overall enjoyed my stay here at the Courtyard by Marriott. The room I booked looked exactly like the pictures. I arrived early for check-in and the front desk did an excellent job trying to get me a room with a great view and balcony. Pros: -Room had a microwave and fridge -Front desk was friendly -Hotel lobby and room were very clean and furnishings were updated and modern -Bed was comfortable -Hotel felt secure. Front doors lock after 10PM. Need keycard access to get in as well as in the elevators to the rooms -Gym was bigger than expected. Had a cable machine, some cardio, and free weights -There is a pool (although I didn't use it) -Close to LBCC. 15 minute walk. Proximity to a lot of shops and restaurants -Overall, noise level was quiet Cons: -No room service due to construction -Wish the bathroom had a little bit more storage Side note: Outside the hotel there are a lot of homeless wandering around. It's OK used our Chase points and got room 412. Right when we walked in was hit with a disgusting old food smell that never left the room the 2 nights we stayed.(despite leaving sliding door open all the time lol) Great location of course homeless everywhere though! We liked the bistro bar for drinks stopped in Fri & Sat night and befriended a local friendly couple. GREAT barmen/staff at Bistro!( thus the 3 stars otherwise it would have been 2 stars.) Our room was super noisy with cars revving their engines at midnight on Sat.(the reason maids left ear plugs for us I'm sure).Awesome little coffee shop Rose Park. Lots of shopping-Barns and Noble,Ulta etc and restaurants-Yard House, Outback and lots more. Handy to aquarium and great walk up to lighthouse. I don't think we'd stay again,will try to get hotel closer towards lighthouse area where it's quieter. read more

They charge a destination fee of $25 a night. No idea why. Parking is $45 a night. The parking garage was narrow. Very difficult to maneuver a pick up truck. We were told to park on the top floor by the wall. The second night we were there they over sold the parking. They also sell parking to locals. The second night we could not find a spot to park the truck. We decided to valet the truck only to discover the valet people had been sent home at 10pm. It was a about 10:30pm when we were trying to park. We were told just to park anywhere. They clearly did not care if we found parking even though we booked it with the room. One employee just smirked and said the parking is sold out. Cars were coming in trying to find parking. They didn't bother to put up a sign saying there was no parking . We, along with others parked in fire lanes and walking/waiting areas. The next morning we complained and again the attitude of the employees was terrible, they didn't care. STAY AWAY IF YOU HAVE A TRUCK OR LARGER VEHICLE! read more

After 5 days in Las Vegas (at the Luxor, over $1,600 for 5 nights - just the dark, dingy room - Pyramid premium - plus the resort fees) makes you REALLY appreciate all the things that the Luxor did not have! Here we have - a microwave, a fridge, a coffee maker, 2 free bottle of water, a TV with many free channels, a window that will allow in all the light that you could possibly want, a balcony that you can use, USB ports, ample elevators all of which work and all of which work and feel SAFE - NONE of which the Luxor provided!! I chose this hotel because I like Marriott brands and it was close to the cruise terminal. The was large and clean and the bed was comfortable! It was also a great location to walk to restaurants and bars and a convenience store to pick up a few things before boarding. The air conditioning worked well and kept the room cool, but it was pretty loud and kept us up. The door also had a gap at the bottom and let a good amount of light in, so it wasn't totally dark, which also made it hard to sleep. Sending requests through the app didn't work well here, but when we asked for things at the front desk, we got help right away. Over all, it worked well for what we needed, and we might come back depending on the price and what else is available. read more

I stayed at this Marriott on 8/30-8/31, and overall, I was disappointed with the experience. When we arrived, there was no valet or bellhop service available. The room itself was fine, but the service left a lot to be desired. Upon checkout, there was still no valet attendant. I was told that the valet attendant had gone to lunch--at 10 AM--which left us having to find our own car in the parking structure. Despite this, I was still charged $44 for valet parking, plus a $25 destination fee. Paying for valet service that wasn't provided felt unacceptable. For these reasons, I would not recommend this property. read more

I generally stay at a Marriott property when I travel. Multiple concerns with this property/this stay: Hanging in my shower was a very dirty, very stiff looking (I didn't touch it), washcloth. Rest of room seemed clean, but dirty washcloth disgusting, Other concern - front desk. I know the hotel was busy during this time, but that should not be an excuse. When 2 of us arrived, different rooms, at about 1:30 (?) pm, we were told hotel was busy, no rooms available, check in, leave our cell #'s and we would be called as soon as rooms available. We sat in the lobby in the nearest couches, about 10 feet from desk. Significantly later we saw people checking in, went back to desk, same guy was there but now there was a second person, asked other guy if rooms were available, and the answer was, "of course". We were told we would be called, sat in direct eye-line of desk, but no effort to let us know rooms were available. Valet parked the car. when leaving the evening of 3/5, asked for car and told that valet was on break so here is your keys and car is on the first floor of parking structure. What they didn't bother or think to tell us, was that we would have to get out of the gate, and how to do so. We got to the gate, couldn't figure out how to open, got out in the rain, walked back in and told "oh we should have told you, you have to press the 'help' button and then we will let you out." Overall, compared to my usual Marriott and Courtyard experience, this was really poor. read more

My review is specifically about Top Golf and Jessie! I have not booked a room here nor stayed here before. For those that don't know, they recently opened 2 bays here on the first floor. It's all indoor virtual reality. I booked a bay online for a small bday gathering last Fri for my friends and I, and we had a blast! The booking process was easy! The room and space were clean and ready for us. I want to add that Jessie was fantastic and took care of us. I'd gladly book again. As a disclaimer, which I've written in similar reviews, I like Marriott properties, and almost always stay at a Marriott property whenever I travel. It was 11 JUL 2022, and I was on a business trip to Long Beach, California. Located in the southwest side of downtown Long Beach, this hotel is very conveniently located. With less than a 4-5 block walk, you can visit the beach, The Pike, the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center, the Aquarium of the Pacific or a plethora of restaurants on Pine Ave. The hotel front desk personnel were very nice. There was a very businesslike atmosphere in the hotel as I saw lots of professionally dressed people here as well as a few commercial flight crews. The hotel is well maintained, as the lobby, fitness center and rooms were all clean. I did not actually use the fitness center on this trip, but I did check it out. My room also had a private balcony facing downtown. Unfortunately, I did not get a room with a view of the harbor. My room was plenty spacious enough for me as I was traveling alone. There was also an outdoor pool, but I did not have the time to actually enjoy it. Since the COVID-19 pandemic started, daily hotel room cleaning by the housekeeping staff is almost a thing of the past, and the same holds true here unless you make a special request. However, it was very easy to get fresh towels each morning. There was no Continental breakfast available, but this hotel does have a restaurant called "The Bistro" located just off the lobby. Prior to booking this hotel, I did not know that the conference in which I was attending would be here. There are 6 event spaces that can accommodate groups of various sizes from just 10 people all the way up to 200 people. My conference was in the Atlantic ballroom, which can accommodate up to 120 guests. They had catered food each morning from The Bistro, as well as one catered lunch from the same place. The food was definitely better than I had expected it to be. As I worked in Long Beach from 2002-2009, I opted to rent a car so that I could do a little sightseeing. Although parking at the hotel was neither free nor cheap, it was very convenient, and the garage was spacious and fairly secure. All in all I had a very good stay here. read more

Found bed bugs in room, do not stay here. Upon arrival noticed the hotel is used extensively by Southwest Airlines for its crew, Upon getting to our room we noticed a bed bugs crawling on the bed. I instantly went down stairs and showed them the video and they said they move my room and would have to do an investigation with Ecolab. Stayed at the Courtyard Long Beach Downtown recently for a weekend event in Long Beach! Picked this over the Residence Inn, which was literally in the middle of nowhere. Because I was in a two queen rather than a one king, I was unable to procure my usual room upgrade request since they don't have two queens rooms. But they did grant me an early check-in, so thank you again to my Ambassador Elite status! The room was much better than I was expecting. There's a certain template I expect from Courtyard rooms, so walking in here and not seeing the usual drab gray was a nice surprise. Comfortable beds, decent-sized bathrooms. Best part of the room was the balcony with the view of the harbor! Since we were on the 7th floor (unfortunately couldn't get the top 9th floor), it was a pretty nice view. Staff here are great, no complaints from me! Had much needed towels sent to my room, grabbed random stuff from the housekeeping staff that were walking around. Everything was good! As mentioned, the location of this hotel was a major reason why I picked this over the Residence Inn or other hotels. We were able to walk a few blocks to get food, which I knew was going to come in handy on Sunday when we were pretty tired. Parking situation is not great, at $30 per night for self-parking. Plus my friend was parking here too, so we BOTH had to pay. Thankfully they were chill and just got charged one car's worth for parking after plenty of begging LOL. Overall, a solid stay at a Courtyard. I don't know if I have any reason to come back to Long Beach, but at least i know this hotel will be worth staying at. read more

The hotel is close enough to the convention center to make it accessible. Clean and recently remodeled. Super friendly staff. However it is loud! I get there is always noise in a hotel, but this was ALOT! When I got to my room, and noticed they gave two sets of ear plugs to each guest, I was immediately concerned. The hotel backs up to an alley so it was all night long of trash being dumped, glass bottles breaking into dumpsters, people talking, car noise, etc. The ear plugs were nice but not everyone can wear ear plugs so just be forewarned if your room is on the alley side of the building. Other than the noise piece, I'd stay here again...would just be requesting a room on another side of the building. read more

Upon entering you are immediately greeted by valet host. Hou have two options: self Park or valet. We opted to self park so we can have immediate access to items left in car. Upon entering and checking in, we were greeted by Sergio. We received an early the k in! Went up to our room to find all new amenities such as microwave and mini fridge! Oh yes, Starbucks coffee for our morning. I have to say this place us clean, very comfortable and you feel safe. We walked throughout the entire downtown area and explored. I definitely recommend this hotel. Great bar, restaurant, and ambiance. We slept great, and can't wait to return. It's located in downtown which makes it easy to park and walk. The Hotel Lobby was very nice. a feel for modernism and home vibes. our check in process was a breeze and the staff was so friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and had a nice view window of Downtown Long Beach. The beds were so comfortable and everything was very clean and well kept. This location is great because they have a lot of restaurants within walking distance. If you are looking for a decent place to stay in Long Beach, try this hotel. It's close to restaurants and stores. If you don't want to walk, getting a ride from one of the rideshare companies won't cost a lot. ::Experience:: The rooms are clean and nice but the hallways to the rooms looked old especially the carpets. Inside the room were a flat-screen tv, king size bed, sofa sleeper, small armchair with an ottoman, wall ac/heater, coffee/tea maker, safe, and iron board. Both bedside tables have a phone charger station, all you need is the cords (1 slot). The shampoo, conditioner, and soap bar are by Paul Mitchell. There is a small fridge but no microwave. You can use the microwave in the lobby though. The bed was comfy and the balcony was small. ::Customer Service:: At first, I was really disappointed because I requested for connecting rooms when I reserved the rooms but upon arriving, there were no rooms available. After speaking to the Manager Kaylin, she was able to help. We got the connecting rooms but it wasn't the room we originally wanted which was the bay view. Kaylin and Bertha made our stay better by being able to find us a room. They were both very kind, professional, polite, understanding, and patient. Eric was also nice and friendly. ::Highlight:: Kaylin and Bertha, they provided excellent customer service. ::Tips:: If you want connecting rooms, make sure the hotel is aware. 5 stars doesn't even do this place justice! We had a medical emergency on vacation and needed a place to stay while my father was in the hospital. We found this place just because of location being so close to the hospital. The location was great, the hotel was cute, our room was very nice and clean and had nice small balcony. My review though is mainly for the staff. They were INCREDIBLE. They worked with us, and were so attentive and helpful in every way. They helped make a horrible situation a little less stressful and I cannot thank them enough. We stayed for a total of 5 days and they accommodated us more than they needed too. We had a pleasant stay! We stayed Thurs-Sun for our JW Good News Regional Convention. The entire staff were so helpful and welcoming. The rooms were very clean and had a comfort setting. The Bistro Restaurant served great drinks, delicious food and the staff was very conversational and made sure all our needs were met. Jaime and Marilyn along with others were very attentive and pleasant. Essence and Queen addressed matters at the front desk quickly and made themselves available for any additional needs we may need. After Santa Monica, we decided to drive back to Long Beach. We booked this hotel. The location is great, just across from the hotel we stayed when we came here in 2017. This hotel and most hotels in LB charge for the parking (more than $20 a night). The hotel's lovely! We had a beautiful room too. The room had every basic need, big room and bathroom, nice shower, comfortable bed, big study desk and coffee table. We were surprised to see the pool area without a jacuzzi. The gym or fitness center was very clean. I used it but I had to enter from the pool area and leave thru the gym door to go out to the hallway. The front desk employees were exceptional. They're easy to talk to. They're nice enough to give us a late checkout at 1 PM. I had the opportunity to use the business center. Both computer and printer worked great with no issues. After trying a few hotels in LB, we thought this hotel is a great hotel. It has a great location with so many restaurants nearby. So many choices to choose from. Overall was very good! read more

Avoid at all costs. Where do I even begin. We arrived yesterday for a short 1 night stay, and upon arrival to our room, we were greeted by a guest who was heavily under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. This guest would exit his room every 10-20 minutes, stand in the hallway looking towards our door, and then return to his room, until 4am. The one and only good thing I can say about this hotel is that they removed this guest in the morning. Next, online, when you book, it DOES NOT say under renovation anywhere. It says "newly renovated" for the meeting halls, but not for rooms. It states at the VERY BOTTOM of the page, below even the book now button, that the hotel is undergoing renovations from 9-5, understandable. The issue arises when you book someone to stay in the room DIRECTLY BELOW the one being currently renovated. I was woken up to drilling and powertools at 9am sharp, It was literally able to feel the wall vibrating. Maybe have consideration for guests and dont book people under the room being renovated? When this was brought up to the manager, he was defensive, arguing, and said it was very clearly stated online. Obviously not very clear, maybe let people know upon check in? There is a 2-4 inch gap under the door, in which anyone who chooses to, can look under and see into my room very clearly. Finally, the folding deadbolt latch on the door, is nonfunctional. With the latch in place, i can still open the door (video attached) If you want to feel safe, and enjoy a full nights rest, avoid this hotel at all costs. There is many other similar priced options near by that I wish I chose instead. As someone who is a guest with Marriott 3-5 times a year, I have I had an experience this bad at any Marriott property, or any hotel for that matter. read more

They have a maybe 3-4 gallon container of ice water in a dispenser in the lobby. On our way to bed, after a long hot day of moving, we filled our water bottles with water using it (first time). Didn't even make a dent in the volume. We did this mostly because we tried to buy from the machines behind the counter and it was an unusually long wait because their check in is so sloooowwwww. The very next morning there was a big sign at the container in the lobby telling people with water bottles to fill them in the gym (which was nasty). I'm sure that sign was directed specifically at us, which made us feel unappreciated at best. I mean, water is a nice amenity and they could have been generous, since it was difficult/impossible to buy water from them. Pros: room was clean and MOST staff were nice although clearly not all. We'll be back to Long Beach but trying other places in the future. read more

It's impossible for a hotel that charges full price but does not provide housekeeping to get anything more than three stars. Marriott continues to milk off of the cost savings from the COVID-19 pandemic. While other hotels are providing housekeeping, Marriott says they don't to minimize exposure of customers. Simply wearing masks would minimize the exposure to customers. read more
