Stayed at the Beachrunners for three nights May 2015. First impression: Didn't receive warmest welcome. Front door is kept locked and is only accessible to guests with keys. Arrived at around 4PM, knocked on front door. A few minutes later the owner opened the door and stood silent in the doorway. No smile or greeting. The place smells old. Can definitely tell it was built in 1913. . B&B is located on the corner of a busy street, very noisy. Complimentary ear plugs were provided in the room. Definitely not a place for light sleepers or people sensitive to noise. Bed was uncomfortable. Room can get warm at night, house does not have air conditioning. Room cools off with all 3 windows open but creates noisier environment due to the traffic. No curtains provided in this room, just white see through sheers covering the windows. The solid drapes in the corners are merely decorative and don't cover the entirety of window. Drapes are a must for the Kennebac room as it faces the street and people can easily see in at night with just the sheers. Complimentary eye mask was provided in the room since the sun comes in early. The Kennebac room is considered the second largest room in the B&B The room was small, there was quite a bit of dust and dirt present. Cobwebs above the bed and in corners, shower was less than pristine. Carpet is old. Stains present on blanket and mattress cover, staff was notified and replaced both. Appreciated the replacement. Breakfast is provided from 0700 to 0900 AM, make sure to get there early unless you want to warm it up in the microwave. The breakfast is NOT made fresh when you arrive to the dining area. If you show up for breakfast at 0800 or 8:30 you will be eating an egg dish that has been sitting on the table since 0700AM. (If there's anything left) Other B&B's I have stayed at make breakfast as guests arrive, so this was a substandard feature. There are also cold items provided such as fruit, cereal, breads, yogurt, juice, and coffee. I enjoyed getting to meet some of the other guests during breakfast. PROS: Free parking. However the 5 parking spots are located in a back alley that shares the lot with a body shop. (see photo) Lots of run down and beat up cars, doesn't seem the safest to park there at night if you are traveling alone. Overall staying here was akin to visiting a distant relative or staying at a grandma's house. Service felt impersonal, at times I felt like I was imposing. Would be tolerable for one night, wouldn't recommend staying longer. The best sleep I got all week occurred after I checked out of this place and into a Hilton. Upon checkout an individual in a hoodie was seen sleeping on the floor behind the check in desk. Very strange and unprofessional. I won't be coming back.

Bathroom a little small but easy to work with. They had a fridge and coffee maker. In the lobby they have a small room in the back behind the receptionist that has tea, coffee, utensils and other things you may need on your trip! Plus it's a cute area to sit in the morning or while waiting for your Uber. They have plenty of water in the lobby. Bottled and ice water from a large glass dispenser. There are bikes available for use. It's a pretty great location - we were able to walk to really incredible restaurants, and it was super close to our cruise port!!! We highly recommend this place and would book it again on our next Long Beach stay!

The property itself is located in the heart and soul of downtown Long Beach. Our room was cute, cozy, and clean with beautiful hardwood floors. We had a comfy king sized bed and also a sitting area with a couch. Just to name a few of the amenities there was a microwave, mini refrigerator, coffee maker with Starbucks coffee. The bathroom had a shower and it also provided full sized bath and body essentials. They do not have an elevator but we managed to bring our stuff up a flight of stairs with no issues. The guy who was working in the lobby did offer to help us but we declined. Overall we had an amazing experience here and can't wait to return.

It's a couple who runs the place, and both of them are awesome. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. If you go there, request the "guest room" - super comfy bed and plenty of space for your luggage. Comes with its own private bathroom, too. The #1 best part is the pool area. Great sized pool and spa. They keep it heated during the summer months, so it stays around 80-82 degrees. You can jump right in. There's also a spa with jets. That weekend, they had a ping pong table, so it was super fun challenging other guests to games. The landscaping is beautiful: palms, olive tree, roses, and a young plumeria that had a perfect smelling bloom. The #2 best part is the food. They know how to feed their guests! Saturday morning breakfast was eggs, boiled peanuts, and potatoes. We had late lunch/early dinner: Chicken, pulled pork (at just the right temperature), chow mein, and tons of fresh fruit. Dessert was cookies, and one of the guests brought cheesecakes from 85 degrees, so that was awesome. We basically hung out by the pool all day. It was a super fun stay and we can't wait to go back. The owners do a great job of making you feel welcome and at home. If you get lucky, the guy will show you his wine cellar and game room (if you're into games). Definitely recommended for couples who want a pool vacation. Not much privacy by the pool, but if your fellow guests are as cool as the ones we were with, it will feel like a pool party with friends.

Service: pretty slow (fortunately, we were in no rush) 5. Staff: most seem noticeably disgruntled / unmotivated / unhappy 6. Ship walkabout: wonderful / a fascinating time capsule 7. Fantastic artwork / historical photographs on display throughout. 8. Huge ballroom / event rooms / very quaint wedding chapel. 9. Period costumes, decor, memorabilia. 10. Step back in time on a 100-year old grand luxury ocean liner. Tips: 1. Make an advance reservation for restaurants - we saw walk-ins wait almost an hour. 2. Allow at least 2 hours (minimum) to explore the ship after your meal. 3. Lots of stairs between decks / huge ship / lots of walking. 4. Make sure your phone is fully charged - hundreds of photo opps. Summary: We came on a fairly quiet weekday, but still restaurant reservations are highly recommended. The food was top-notch. Will return to eat - a real treat. Dropped a star only because many of the staff seemed somewhat unfriendly, unmotivated, disgruntled. Otherwise, the ship is stunningly beautiful and the experience quite profound.

I will start with the good, the staff is incredibly friendly, accommodating and seems to genuinely understand hospitality. Even when an incident that I will talk about it the bads happened they were accommodating and friendly. Additionally, there are parts of the ship that truly still demonstrate the glamor of a forgotten age in ocean liner history, the small exhibits some furnishings that are touches here that take you back. The food at the chowder house well expensive is quite delicious and both the wait staff and the bartenders are friendly. Now for the bad, vast areas of the ship have been left to the ravages of time. Untouched unfixed unpainted just left to rot. Even surfaces in areas where guests are sure to visit like the bow of the ship, there's unpainted rusted, chipped paint and splintering plywood everywhere. Wow! All three members of my party booked the same class room, what we got were three very different rooms, it felt almost very Goldilocks with one room being too big. One room being too small and one room being just about right. However, my room had mysterious yellow brown wet spots seeping up through the carpet, I discovered this at almost midnight and so had to be moved to another room, the room they moved me to was even smaller than my original room and had a bathroom so small that when I tried to open the door it hit the toilet. And then there's the little matter of temperature control, the rooms themselves have no HVAC, but you can open the portal windows, which would be lovely if not for the fact that there is nearly no airflow at least on the side of the ship where I was, And more than a dozen insects decided that my open windows were an invitation to party in my room. Then given the proximity to the port, because I had my windows open, I was awoken at 6:15 a.m. to the sounds of shipping containers and little bells and alarms. I think this hotel has Great value and great potential but at a price point of over $300 a night putting it well into the luxury category, it needs help. To be totally transparent, I will be coming back here. We only booked one night and there's so much more to the ship. I want to explore and see I want to do the tours. I want to do some of their events including their murder mystery dinner. There's so much here, that I truly do think it's worth experiencing, however, I also think it's worth experiencing with your eyes open to what the experience will be. If you're expecting a luxury hotel with luxury amenities and luxury finishings, you are not getting that here, what you are getting is a view of history that may someday go away so enjoy it while it's here.

They had only a few spots in the lot and after day two of our week there, they had a big shipment of new furniture and those boxes remained the rest of our trip. We had to find parking on the street and the only spot was under a palm tree L, so we had to get our rental washed due to all the parrot poop 3. Terrible WiFi. We could only watch live TV, and even that went out a few times. 4. On our last night a couple above us fought and screamed the ENTIRE night. We called the front desk and the guy went and spoke to them. After another hour of fighting we called again. Same thing happened... nothing. They were still screaming when we left the next morning. I asked for at least one night free due to being kept up all night. They offered $50 and after I dint accept that, $75. I took that because it wasn't going to change. They should have kicked those people out, but I'm sure they just wanted to keep their money and they could care less how other guests were being treated. I would never go there again and no one else should either.
