We didn't feel a warm welcome by the staff when we entered the front office Memorial Day weekend '26. The room was nice. We did have a view to the ocean and a balcony with two chairs. It would've been nice to have bigger shampoo and conditioner, and soap. We were only provided 1 ounce of each and a small Motel 6 budget type soap bar. We had to ask for more toiletries. We enjoyed our stay at Hotel CURRENT - we booked a Snooze and Cruise package where we stayed overnight and they shuttled us to the cruise port and our car stayed in their lot for the week. We were anxious going into it, but Hotel CURRENT really has made a good setup, we booked our time slot and the van was there waiting for us when it was our time. The pool area is beautiful, good space to lounge and enjoy. The water was a bit chilly for me, but my kids enjoyed it to the fullest. The room we had was spacious, good sized bathroom, and the bed was quite comfy. We'd definitely stay here again for another snooze and cruise or even just a stay. read more

Nice price for a double but they need to upgrade on the small fridge. There is no door to separate for privacy and the bathroom is big but they don't clean the shower walls. Beds are fine but at these prices you'd expect decent WiFi and a basic breakfast. WiFi doesn't work well and it's not a one time thing, a company I work an event for nearby books this same hotel every year and it's been bad for at least 3 years. Google search lead us to booking this hotel for one night while traveling through Long Beach. Booked the same day (Saturday) through Expedia for a total of $219.72 (price includes all fees and taxes. We were genuinely surprised at the level of cleanliness, upgraded design and lovely hospitality of this hotel. We would have never picked this hotel based on the exterior - it looks rather dated - yet wow with the inside! The photos posted on Expedia are SPOT on. I am utterly surprised that this hotel received such great ratings. While parking ($15/self park) was fine, the spots were narrow and there were many times lack of parking if you stayed out too late. However, my biggest issue were the cockroaches. Yes you heard me. In two different rooms, I have videos, photos, it was one of the most horrifying experiences I had ever had. Imagine going to the toilet, opening up the toilet and finding a 4 inch cockroach in it. That's INSANE. That's literally what happened. I tried flushing the toilet MULTIPLE times without avail. The management (not the actual managers, just the staff), tried to help by moving us into different rooms but the different rooms ALSO had the same issue. How can this hotel be operating still? What's NOT current at Hotel Current We stayed here for the first time since it's near our kid's dorm and it received good reviews from other parents who've stayed for college events. I've seen it many times on our way to and from the campus and was hesitant but my wife makes all the arrangements and so I just keep my mouth shut. I was actually okay with Current but not at the current price we paid. Having a complementary breakfast and parking would've sealed the deal but instead a trip to Wallymart for bagels and McD's were necessary. "I" think the hotel was trying to make themselves seem more opulent than what it really is by making the bed high off the floor and the sink that sat at my belly button and almost shoulder height with my personal concierge wife. The mattress was actually comfy but the pillows were totally uncomfortable. Pillows were not full sized pillows but half a regular sized pillow so it was hard for me to sleep comfortably. I recommend bringing your own. They also placed these disgusting ugly stained pillow throws on the beds that were totally unnecessary! The AC unit was well past its useful hotel life and a newer unit that's quiet with an accurate thermostat would be nice. The little AC unit struggled to cool the room and it would just stop. I had to turn the power off and on just to get it working throughout our stay. The noise would drown out the tv and irritating trying to sleep. One good selling point is the bathroom and shower. Our room had two slider doors; one to separate the bathroom from the bed area and another that separated the sink from the commode / shower. The shower was very spacious with a rainwater shower head that worked well with sufficient water to wash off soap which were provided with dispensers of body wash and shampoo but no conditioner which wasn't a big deal for me but to some it may. My concierge didn't complain so it didn't bother her either. In my opinion, the room should've been priced less than the hotels closer to the airport which provides breakfast. My only real gripes were the parking fees and air conditioner but let's list what wasn't current at Hotel Current: 1) Air conditioner. Just replace them 2) Pillows and throw pillows. Just delete the pillow throws and provide full size ones that are comfy 3) Floors seemed to be clean but stained and dingy 4) Cabinets were also dingy and looked like an Earl Sheib paint job (who's earl sheib?) 5) Shower tile grout were either dingy or had areas with different colored grout. I didn't want to look too closely because if it didn't see it, it didn't exist 6) Lamps looked like they came from grandma's house and I'm in my 60s! 7) Door seals on our room needed to be replaced or installed because i could see daylight around the door 8) Bed frames. It was a slight struggle getting onto the bed. My short concierge wife had relive her childhood days by making a running somersault leap onto the mattress for which I gave her a score of 9.5. With all those outdated discrepancies, the best part of our stay were the staff. They were all delightful and I was greeted with a nice "Hola" our first morning . read more

I booked this Hotel as it's close to a customer site in Long Beach. The photos of the room the rooms looked decent and price threw me a curve. Rooms looked remodeled which they were but it's one of the nosiest hotels I've stayed in. The price was also misleading as I believe in quality with price. In this case it did not equate to quality. Major factors for 1 star, there is WiFi but it does not work. Noisy! I can hear the road, parking lot, plumbing, ac was noisy and toilet leaks. So though it was remodeled, clearly it's for appearances. Paid parking but no security. So there is a $15 charge to park in their lot. In front of my room there was someone parked in front of my room and apparently sleep in their car. At around 4am when it woke me up when they started their car to warm it up and idle! Price. I've booked numerous other hotels for this price range that is much better overall. Actually cheaper hotels were better! Advise is to stay elsewhere! read more

We have stayed many times at the Current and liked it. Last night we stayed in Room 133 and believe it or not...at 10am a church service started! They were using a microphone, singing, applauding, praying loudly. I am a Christian so my comments have nothing to do with it being a church, but the woman at the front desk should have asked us if the noise would bother us - which it did because we were very tired. Or if you put a guest into this room give them a huge discount. Completely unacceptable and bizarre. read more

This place tries to brand itself as being cool and hip but as others have said, there is nothing current about it. We checked in later in the evening and were shocked they also charge $15 for parking...in spaces that are basically large enough only for a Prius. The rooms are extremely outdated and random, such as the sink being elevated up to my chest. The pillows were the worst and seemed stuffed with cotton balls or something, so I recommend you bring your own. My room also had a conjoined door which I really despised considering I paid to have a single room. And these rooms were not cheap. The AC did not cool anything off despite being on the lowest setting all night and therefore, did not get any restful sleep. I give two stars only basically for the large bed that was surprisingly comfortable and the pool area with places to sit and cabanas and chairs. This has always been our go-to place. We have stayed there about 10 times. This was the first time after Covid. We did not read all the changes before booking. 1) The beds where 32" off the floor. My wife being 5' 4" this was not easy. They have a extra platform. 2) They now charge $15 PER NIGHT for parking. 3) They always great Free breakfast. A lot of hotel now have this. Theirs was always the best now it's gone. 4) We had booked a 3 day stay. On checking in we were told no Maid service unless we ask for it. 5) Staff other than the Lady that checked US out. Drove up and first thing i see is several different men in various areas hanging outside their room doors or in parking lot smoking and just...watching. Prostitutes nearby. Tried to get refund from Hotels.com bc it feel unsafe but the hotel staff told both agents told no. They will keep a $180 of the payment. Like WTH?!! Went to the first room i was assigned and had to pass some dude hanging out his door smoking and when looked toward his open door it was obvious he was a long term guest despite hotel workers saying there wasn't any. I'll start with the 1 compliment Great location. The Hotel Current has nothing that's current in it. I booked through Hotels.com because it was a pet friendly hotel. It's NOT a HOTEL!!! I had to pay a additional $50 for my pet, which was included in my online charge. Then I had to pay a additional $15 to park my car on their premises. So now my charge is $265 for a dump. The room door rubber is gone. I can literally bend over and see the ground outside. The carpet is so filthy it's sticky. The stairway smells like fermented urine. The people in the neighboring room keep slamming the door. Pounding on the connecting door, and arguing. 4 star it is not. The name of this place is misleading itself, as is the 4 star rating of it. This establishment is a motel. The rooms are all outdoors, allowing anybody to just walk up and knock on the room, whether or not they have a reservation. Furthermore, the room needs to be fumigated. There were dozens of baby spiders inside the room. The air conditioner is loud and janky. There's no way you can sleep through it. All night could hear hundreds of cars driving down PCH even with window closed. Did not get restful sleep here whatsoever. Would not return here under any circumstances. Set expectations to budget/reality. This place isn't a fancy hotel and I budget motel, it's in the middle. Some of the reviews I've seen are ridiculous if the standards are that high then pay more. Overall this is a good place for its value. The pool area is the best feature. There are multiple cabanas and shaded spots and we didn't experience any crowds. The guests that stay here did not seem sketchy. I saw multiple families and felt safe. Location is ideal. Not really walking distant. But relatively close by car. There were a few cosmetic issues with the room but nothing to drop a rating. My only issue was the floors and A/C. After the pool the floors were wet so I used the towel to dry it. It revealed how dirty the floor is. In perspective I'd take these floors over carpeted. At night with the A/C on you are either freezing to death or tossing and turning from the warmth and humidity. No great medium. Overall I liked this place and would recommend it. Just set the expectations accordingly as a value hotel. read more

I used to stay here like 4-5 years ago when I used to go for work at the CSU offices in LB. I was at work for most of the day and just came to the hotel to sleep. So didn't pay much attention to the hotel here. However, even then I noticed some of the issues that others have noted here (shabby-looking buildings, unclean rooms, cigarette butts everywhere, parking lot being always full). However, the biggest issue was the staff not only seemed incompetent but quite rude, especially when you compare it to other hotels around here (such as Golden Sails). After a few negative incidents, I started booking other hotels in the area instead of the Current. Many years later, as I was booking hotels for the first week of January LA, I decided to give this place a try. Booked through booking.com. The room was going to be "decided at check-in." However, in the notes section on booking.com I simply wrote, "if you can please ensure that I get two beds/instead of one, that would be greatly appreciated." Well, a few hours later I got FOUR hostile emails back to back from the staff here. Basically telling me that I should have booked at a "higher rate" if I wanted to make requests about the room. Even if this was the case, there is a way to say this to the customer. What really angered me was that there were four emails, written in the tone of an entitled, ex-GF. I see that the staff here have still not learned any manners. So I canceled my booking and booked with another hotel nearby. This place needs a real overhaul. read more

Do not trust this hotel with your business. When I tried to use a gift certificate with the hotel, they disputed the value of the gift certificate and told me that it was not valid because of how long ago it was issued. Despite the fact that it is illegal for gift certificates to expire in California and there is not expiration date written on the certificate, they said that my certificate is expired. I worked with Wayne who was friendly enough, but at the end of the day unwilling to stand behind certificates that were issued by his company. Wayne offered me $100 towards a room since he felt that was fair for the price of the rooms when the certificate was issued. Even though the certificate was older, I know that rooms at this hotel were not going for $50 a night in 2017. Very unfortunate experience and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. read more

I stayed here mostly for my daughter's volleyball camp at CSULB (5 mins away). After doing much research, I viewed a lot of positive feedback so decided to book. It's a cute hotel, nicely decorated and specious rooms. The staff is pleasant and informative. The pros: 1. Comfortable bed. 2. Nice bathroom with rain shower head and modern sink. 3. Spacious room. 4. Keurig coffee maker. The cons: 1. It's located on busy Pacific Coast Hwy, so its loud. 2. Parking can be difficult (near your room) because there are no assigned areas. Basically anyone can park there, including guests. 3. The pull out bed mattress was uncomfortable and dirty. 4. Many of the outlet plugs did not work and none were placed near the bed. It is a nice hotel and the rooms are super accessible. The place was clean and they have a variety of channels on the television. It was a bit difficult sleeping since it was easy to hear the people on the second floor. The matress also kept sliding away when I was sitting on the bed. The adjacent room was extremely loud all night. People running, jumping all night. Constant car alarms going off in the parking lot waking us up.
