My Wife and I decided to go to Cotton Patch for Dinner near us because I saw an email that said they have Dinner Specials running. We both have been busy all day long with our new phones - trying to get them switched over from one carrier to another is not a simple task - they both work but under a temporary number - anyway, back to the food. We arrived at Cotton Patch and their are a number of vehicles in the parking lot, well, okay, Trucks, because this is West Texas and Everyone has a Pick-Up Truck of some kind - and so do we - and that's what we took - 'Bret' - our Maverick. Anyway (once again) - we were greeted by the Hostess and shown to a booth. Veronica is our Server and we looked over the menu trying to decide what to get. They do have a 'Daily Special' running and todays is their 'Blackened Tilapia' for $9.99. They also have their "$12 Classics" with a list of Dinners for you to choose from. Time to order and my Wife is going with one of their Regular Salads; "Strawberry Pecan Salad"; Spring Mix Greens, Fresh Sliced Strawberries, Candied Pecans & Bleu Cheese Crumbles, with Raspberry Walnut Vinaigrette. Wife does not want the Bleu Cheese Crumbles. I am ordering from their "$12 Classics"; the "Cheeseburger"; Angus Beef Patty, topped with Fresh Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Pickles & House Spread between a Golden Potato Bun, with Cheddar Cheese (choice). Comes with 2-Sides, chose Garlic Mashed Potatoes with Cream Gravy and Green Beans. Orders are in and Veronica brought over a basket of their Fresh Rolls with butter. We enjoyed those while we waited for our food - and it didn't take long considering how busy they are. My Wife's Salad looks really good and is a Nice Presentation in a Very Deep Bowl - lots of goodies in there. She Loved it all - the Chicken was Very Tastylicious and the Strawberries are Fresh & Sweet - and those Candied Pecans are always SweetlyCrunchylicious. It took her a while but she did eat all of her Salad. My Cheeseburger is kind of on the small size, not near what one would think a Cheeseburger would be - but it does look good - and it was. The Patty is really tasty and the Cheese is nice-n-gooey. Really happy that it came with 2-sides because those Garlic Mashed Potatoes with that Creamy Gravy was some really good stuff. I LOVE It when they leave on the Potato Skin and they do here. The Green Beans are Fresh and cooked right but are somewhat bland in taste - seems to be missing some onion or bacon bits - but I ate'em all because Green-Is-Good for you. Overall it was just enough for the both of us. Veronica was Awesome throughout our stay here and earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'Above & Beyond the Norm' - and she loved it. Cotton Patch Restaurants has always been a pretty good place to get some good cookin' for a reasonable price. Check one out near you. On the way back to the house, my Lovely Wife and I enjoyed another Beautiful Early West Texas Evening. Love You Baby, Bunches & GoingOutMunches.

As a city girl who's moved into this cute small town, I was excited to learn that Cotton Patch has great food and a family feel like Cracker Barrel (minus the toys/storefront). Start your visit with delicious, buttery, soft rolls as you're greeted by your server. So many home-cooked-feeling meals to choose from! I went with some of my favorites for my first experience - and they didn't disappoint. As a date night treat, we tried the Funnel Cake Fries as an appetizer before moving on to our main course. Everything was cooked perfectly and served efficiently. Before we left, we ordered rolls to go! We liked it so much, we brought our visiting family the next week. Definitely adding this to our restaurant rotation list.

Had never been here before till now. Cool place with great service, fast service. Big menu to pick from. based on this experience alone, it was okay. My plate was a little less than impressive. Turkey was done perfectly, tender, flavorful. Sadly just 2 slices all ya get. The stuffing was average, the gravy was very thick and bland. cranberry sauce was likely canned stuff. The sides I picked were on point. Wifes beef tips and gravy were very good. My kiddos fish was also very tasty and he finished it all. 10% military discounts are available so our 3 meals and drinks were only $46 with tax so not bad. I still gotta try some other dishes next time to get more insight to their plates and menu.

Voyaging down Hwy 87 from West Texas hunger stroke and we decided to make a stop at good ol Cotton Patch Cafe! On a Black Friday afternoon the cafe was rather slow and we were seated quickly. Our waitress was very attentive, made frequent stops and assured our needs were met only a star drops due to the lack of their fluffy and buttery rolls. The food was great started it off with mozzarella sticks for our app and ended with their famous chicken fried chicken plate with macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy. Overall food was good and service was exceptional until next time Cotton Patch Cafe San Angelo!

Below average food, and too much of it is fried. Both times I've gone we had to wait forever for food, and then it wasn't really that good.

Absolutely no customer service, no greeting, no smile. We all have bad days but you could tell this was just who she is... Maybe make her in charge of cleaning things and not dealing with the customers? (the same person could care less when the couple next to me received their order backwards. The woman couldn't eat spicy foods and her burger was covered with spicy items. She took it up to the woman taking orders and the woman refused to do anything. Wow.) The restrooms, wood sides along booths, pickle table and the condiments/tables need a serious cleaning - there is grossness abounding. I didn't see one person busing or cleaning in the restaurant - and it shows! Gross. The fries could've been great if they were crispy but they were all super soggy. FRY FAIL! Onions: you can leave them thick for the onion rings but if you're putting a slice of onion on my burger you better slice it thin. Nobody needs a huge half inch thick slice of onion in the middle of a burger. PRO: The burger was cooked to perfection. At least they got that right, which is why I gave them three stars - nothing else I experienced in this restaurant deserved any stars. The owner/manager are lazy at best cause they obviously don't care about the customer experience.

I know you know yesterday was Valentine's Day, and it's a good day to take your "Better Half" (and…read moreyou know that's true) out for Dinner at one of her favorite places. "The Grill". That also sounds really good to me. We know The Grill will be busy, especially since Valentine's Day falls on a Saturday, so we left earlier than normal. Arrived, and a good number of cars were parked all around. Walked in, and the place is packed, with every bar stool and table taken. The Hostess said it will only be a few minutes for your table. In a couple of minutes, a table was available. After we were seated, more people arrived, but they also only had to wait a couple of minutes. The Grill has two bartenders working along with several servers, and a couple of employees cleaning up the tables when they become available. Our Server is Sophia, and she took our drink order. Two Jack-N-Cokes and waters. While we waited for our drinks, we looked over the menu. We kind of already know what we are going to order, and we did. My Wife is going with one of her usuals, their "Happy Hour Nachos" ($6.50), listed as 'Roasted Pork Nachos' on the main menu. Slow Roasted Pork, Chipotle Sauce, Tomatoes, Cilantro, Black Beans, Cheddar Cheese over lots of Fresh Chips with Green sliced Jalapenos on one side, and Red sliced Jalapenos throughout the plate. I am going with the "Baja Fish Tacos", Blackened Baja Fish with Chipotle Sauce, and pickled Slaw. Served with Guacamole, Rice, Black Beans, and double Corn Tortillas for three Tacos. We placed our order with Sophia when she served our drinks. Then we toasted to Valentine's Day, and us. The bartenders here make the Best Jack-N-Cokes around. They are really good, smoooooooth, and go down easy. While we waited for our food, The Grill became busier and busier, with more people waiting. Glad we came a little early. Sophia stopped by, as well as one of the Managers checking on us to see if we needed anything. Service here is always tops. Soon our food arrived, and my Wife's Roasted Pork Nachos were served the same as they always have been, piled up high and covering the entire plate, and I might add, very colorful. I Love the way they prepare the Baja Fish Tacos with a Huge chunk of perfectly grilled fish all by itself next to the Rice & Black Beans, a large scoop of Fresh Guacamole, and several Corn Tortillas for you to make your own, with Pickled Slaw to the side. Both dishes are a Beautiful Presentation of Deliciousness that you will find nowhere else. The Grill does it right. My Wife's Nachos have a lot of melted cheese oozing everywhere with lots of corn chips and several pounds of Roasted Pulled Pork. Well, okay, maybe not 'pounds', but there are a lot of large chunks throughout this dish. She said it is delicious and loving that Pulled Pork. She ate about half of it and will take the rest home for a meal that will be for both of us - you get a lot of food at The Grill. I cut off a long chunk of fish, spread their Chipotle Sauce on a couple of corn tortillas, then the fish, topping it off with rice & black beans, guacamole, and their pickled slaw. This Fish Taco is Deliciousness and more. The perfectly grilled Baja Fish has lots of flavor with just enough spice from the chipotle sauce. I made three of these, each a little different, and they all were very Tastylicious. Each Taco was so filled with goodies I could not fold it over, and I ate them more like a Tostada instead. Either way, they are The Best. I also have some fish left over that I ate with the remaining sides, adding that chipotle sauce to each bite. I ate all of mine, with no leftovers to take home. While we were enjoying our food, Sophia said that she would like to take a picture of us with my camera because we are a cute couple. Hey, I couldn't disagree with that, so she did. Flattery will get you everywhere. Thank You Sophia. Well, guess what? Sophia earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above-n-beyond' the norm, and a nice tip. We boxed up my Wife's leftovers and headed home, and The Grill was still busy as ever when we left. This was a Great way to enjoy a Valentine's Day Dinner.

We were recently in town visiting family and wanted to eat before we left town to go home. The well-known place we used to eat now closes on Sundays. That's their loss because we've declared the Dun Bar our new Sunday lunch spot when we're in town. Thelma was our server and she was just delightful. This is probably the most hole in the wall place I've ever given full stars. Don't get me wrong, I love a hole in the wall, but sometimes the food in a hole in the wall is a little boring. Like this food, it was so simple, chicken fried steaks, grilled chicken breast, a Thanksgiving lunch on Sundays, side salads, humble sides... but it's all so absolutely ridiculously GOOD. We started with the large plate of onion rings (which is $7.50, btw, you won't find that anywhere else) and my sister lost her mind about them. lol For our entrees we had two chicken fried steak plates (different sides) and a grilled chicken plate. The gravy is served on the side, family style, and it was probably one of the best gravys I've ever had. It's not just flour and water, it tasted more complex like it had broth in it as well. Somehow with the modest price of these very flavorful dishes, they still give you free dessert. Very generous. I typically hate carrot cake, but this cake was moist and really good. It was almost like a spice cake, very well done. Do not sleep on this place. The surroundings are run down, the motel behind it has seen better days, but the food is legit and the kindness can't be beat. If you go on a Sunday, ask for Thelma and tell her the girls from Fort Worth say hi.
