Tried to have dinner there last night. Went in about 5:00 pm for an early dinner. I ordered bbq drizzled salmon with a salad. The salad was ok although it was unusually wet, but the salmon was seared on the outside and undercooked inside. I tried to find cooked areas to eat but gave up and ate a bit of the salad and okra. If the salad had not been good I would have given it a no star. The chicken was over cooked the steamed vegetables were rubber in consistency. It was horrible. The manager or assistant manager offered a dessert to try and make up for it. Nothing like trying to eat heathy getting rubber type food and then being offered a sugar treat. No thank you. Came here on a Friday for lunch after my grandmother's funeral, roughly about 30 people. They gave us the back room and were seated pretty quickly. One of our servers that waited on us was outstanding! I didn't catch her name but she was incredibly polite, had drink refills before I realized I was almost empty, just an awesome girl. I had the grilled cheese and the butter cake for dessert, both were delicious! My mom ordered the fried bacon and those who had some said it was amazing. I went out to the car and the dining room was full! I live in California and am not in Plainview very often but if we do visit again we will be dining here. Decided to try lunch here because they typically have several cars outside, which is usually a good sign. I stood at the podium for several minutes, was not greeted nor acknowledge, while several workers walked directly past me. Finally was seated, I ordered the chicken fried chicken with okra and baked squash. The price was reasonable and the chicken was great but the okra was soggy and had zero flavor, the baked yellow squash was a casserole type dish with too much breading baked in and was pretty bland also. The service was very subpar, no smiles, no personality. It seems that the servers were just there to get a check. Having grown up in restaurants, I would love to see more friendly personal service and oh yes, the music! Really Cotton Patch! Look around at your clientele, do you really think they enjoy the type of music you play and at the volume?? We ate here after a morning of apple picking so came in famished as a table of 7. The chicken fried chicken was good but the helping was on the small side. I got jalapeño hush puppies for one of the sides which were delicious but neither the waitress or the menu mentioned an upcharge for them. My friend got the Tex Mex salad with chili lime chicken which description sounded amazing but the actual salad was lackluster. My friend's avocado chicken sandwich came out with a black avocado that never should have left the kitchen. The chicken fried chicken tacos were spicy and good, but a salad entree came out with mostly turned lettuce. Upsides: our waitress graciously offered to split the check for us and the bathrooms were clean. My husband and I stopped here on our way back to Albuquerque, NM. Not only did we have a very good meal, but we got to relax and enjoy the great service we received. I wish I'd remembered our server's name, but I don't. We got the fried mushrooms to start and really liked the honey mustard sauce. The mushrooms had a nice, light breading on them so that you could really taste the mushroom itself. My husband got a chicken fried chicken meal and I opted for potato soup. I had my doubts about the soup, but didn't want a lot of food so I went for it and it was delicious! It was the perfect mix of chunks of potatoes, bacon and cheese. The chicken fried chicken seemed pretty good also as there wasn't any left! This restaurant was very clean, the service excellent and the food very good. Yesterday, 2/17 at 1:30 pm was the first time eating in this restaurant in almost a year. They have changed managers a few years ago and the facilities have gone down hill. Three lights were out in the dining room; tiles were missing from under the urinal in the men's room; you could see by the prep-cooler that the wall had been cut out and exposed what appears to be a moldy area. Overall cleanliness wasn't there. Wife received cold fries. My baked squash casserole tasted old and my potatoes we cold. Part of this could have been the time of day. The chicken fried steak was about half the usual size, and yes it was the full size portion. Overall, the prices have gone up and some of the higher priced food items seem to have seen portion reductions (confirmed by conversation overheard between waiter and customer regarding his order). Wasn't impressed. We kept waiting on our rolls. After all, the waiter brought our bread plates out. When he said he would be back with our drink order, my husband said, "and the rolls!" He smiled and walked away. When our meal showed up and still no rolls my husband asked him if we were going to get any. He told we had to specifically ask for the rolls as they no longer just bring them out. Well, why bring bread plates if your not bringing bread?! When our food finally arrived, my husband's baked potato wasn't hot enough to melt the butter. My mashed potatoes were lukewarm and the green beans were cold. On the plus side, he said his steak was perfect and my chicken fried steak was excellent as usual. When we finally got our rolls, they were hot out of the oven! I will eat there again because the food is usually better than this. When the manager came by, I voiced my disappointment so hopefully this was just an off night. read more

I ordered the Monday lunch special, Beef tips with brown mushroom gravy served over a bed of rice. Sides were Green Beans and Kernel Corn. My friend ordered the Hamburger Steak with melted cheese on top and a double portion of Broccoli. After what seemed like a long wait our food arrived. Hahaha! My Beef tips and brown mushroom gravy over rice was a watery soup. Someone doesn't know that your suppose to actually drain the rice before it's served. No kidding, it was a soup. Putting a fork into my Beef tips was the next disappointment. Tough as shoe leather. Way over cooked and/or re-cooked. Can't leave the rice just yet, it was under-cooked. Nothing tender here. Green Beans and Kernel corn were served in tiny bowls, had no seasoning, and were cool when they hit the table. My friends Hamburger Steak was surprisingly bland a required a massive amount of ketchup to drive the flavor value up. His broccoli was ok considering. I have been to a Cotton Patch in another town so i was excited to eat there. We got there at 8pm. It took about 10 minutes for our server to even take our drink order. We ordered appetizers and they arrived pretty quickly. Unfortunately our dinner didn't get to the table until after 9. We waited over an hour to get our food. The place wasn't busy and customers that arrived after we did got their food first. She apologized for the wait but honestly, i saw her standing at the kitchen window a good portion of the time. It's not because they were busy or understaffed. The food was ok, at best, but the lack of service was awful. I can usually overlook ok food or ok service, but not both. Go somewhere else. read more
