I've lived in Hobbs a few months now and have sampled many of the restaurants. I find myself eating at Cotton Patch more often then all the other restaurants combined. If I just want good, consistant food, its always Cotton Patch. The fried green tomatoes and the chicken & dumplings are my favorites but I also enjoy their catfish and choopped steak. Oh, and the mac & cheese is good too. The butter cake will make you fat just smelling it - delicious. If you don't want to sort through what's good and bad in Hobbs, Cotton Patch is always clean, good service, and good food. read more

Very nice atmosphere. Clean. The staff and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. I had fried pickles, grilled chicken, and Dr. Pepper chocolate cake. Everything was very delicious. The chicken could have been grilled a little longer, but it had a very nice flavor. I would definitely like to return, some time. read more

Who makes fried green tomatoes in batter with no cornmeal??? Well, this place does, and in my opinion, it's not good. If you've ever wanted to try them deep fried in a thick onion ring type coating, this is your place! I've been to southern cuisine restaurants in Portland, Oregon that knew to add cornmeal to fried green tomatoes, not sure what happened here. Got the chicken fry and my companion had a side dish sampler, everything was underwhelming and extremely bland. And, like most restaurants here, they didn't shock us and screwed up the phone order. Not terribly, but got a couple of the side dish selections wrong. Sorry Cotton Patch, but never again. read more

Went to have dinner, a month or so after they opened, which should have been plenty of time to get the "kinks" out. Appetizer was cold, flagged down our waiter and he offered to "nuke" it. I told him I didnt think macaroni sticks would be good "nuked", he shrugged and walked away. Asked for unsweet tea, 3xs he brought me sweet tea, finally asked for water, never got that at all. Most disturbing though was the fact that for 1.5 hours, our food was "lost"..first it was overlooked, then made as a to go order, then it was being plated and then being remade, then it was nowhere. We asked for our check, simply because we were tired of waiting, was going to pay for the cold app and our drinks and the manager came by (at this point, we were having to track down our waiter as he was giving our table a wide berth) and asked us to wait, she'd have it remade (after it had been remade) and she'd comp our orders to make up for our trouble. We agreed to wait another 10 minutes, as we didnt want the food thrown out as she told us would be done. Our food appeared in less than 5 and we left. Thats where I started thinking we'd been waiting nearly 2 hours for food that appeared in 5 minutes and wondered where it had been. In a to go box? On the counter, in the window? Given to another table and rejected? Never made? Ended up not eating as we decided food poisoning wasnt worth it. Wont ever go back as still seeing too many posts (on the restaurant review page on FB) about the same issues. read more

Brand new in Hobbs, NM. Staff was super nice. I ordered fried green tomatoes. They were not breaded in house and did not have the tang regular green tomatoes have. The inner part of the breading was slimy. I also had a cup of chicken n dumplings...Good texture and could use a little more flavor but just by adding pepper and a little salt it was good. Now for the show stopper......THE BUTTER CAKE. It was delicious. Sticky, sweet, rich and just plain delicious! I would go back to try something else on their menu. I really like that you can order just a veggie plate or half orders. That makes a huge difference when you aren't super hungry. They also have nightly dinner specials. This place is ridiculous. I usually love this restaurant in other locations. This one has poor customer service and the food quality leaves me shaking my head. From dry cinnamon apples to a right out of the refrigerator cold slab of butter cake that took 15 minutes to get and not even one refill of ice tea I won't be returning. read more

First time there. Food was excellent and the service was equally impressive (hope it stays that way) Comfortable place nice environment and the sweet tea was really good. We'll definitely head back and try other items from the menu. Parking is also easy to get in and out of. read more

Service was below average at lunch rush. Server paid very little attention to her tables and other wait staff were the same. Staff was playing around with cell phones and joking around most of the time. I'm all for having fun at work as long as the work is getting done first. I've actually eaten at these restaurants in other cities. They were good in other experiences. This one was bad. Tilapia in Cajun Duo tasted dirty. Veggies were very bland. Crab meat tasted dirty. This review is solely based on service because we never got to try any food. We walked in and were seated immediately. The restaurant wasn't too busy as we came right before the lunch rush. The hostess that sat us was friendly and nice and said our server would be by shortly. We sat and waited for 15 minutes and never got any service. There were several waitresses and waiters that walked by our table but only one stopped. She stopped while she was passing food at a nearby table told us that she would send our server over. We waited some more and still never saw our server. We ended up leaving and going elsewhere to eat lunch. read more

Well,now I'm updating the review of this place.So,the reason why I gave it 2 stars is because of the service.Our server had no idea what he was doing!We ordered the chicken fried bacon because it is one of our favorite appetizers.Well,we waited for a long time and never got it.Our meal came before our appetizer (which as I said we never got).So we asked about our appetizer.The server said he would take it off of our ticket and he also said that if we got it we got it and if we didn't we didn't.We asked to speak to the manager and she came.She gave us a coupon for a free appetizer for our next visit.Wow,I wonder if we'll get this appetizer. read more

I think people in Hobbs forget Cotton Patch is not a sandwich shop. I've always had great experiences here.

Food was great, and the service was even better. Our waitress, Yamilli, was attentive to any needs we had. Our drinks were replaced without asking, multiple times. Although we were in a relatively tight fitting booth for our family, she recognized that and asked if we wanted to move...we declined. She made sure the table was clear of any dishes that were not being used so that we had plenty of room to enjoy our meal. We will definitely be back and request her as our waitress! read more

1st visit (months ago) - hostess dropped our silverware on the floor, and then picked it up planning to seat us with the silverware from the floor. We walked out. 2nd visit (19Feb20)- hostess grabbed the silverware, and immediately put them on the dirty, greasy menus. She TOLD us to follow her. She then sat us in a booth with food all over the seats. She said nothing, nor did nothing as I cleaned the seats off with my hand. Server was CLUELESS. Can I have a bottled water. Let me go ask - we don't have any. Can I get a bottle of root beer, We don't have that. What kind of soda is available in a bottle. Let me go ask - we don't have anything in a bottle. Do you beer in a bottle? Yes. Can I have an O'Doules. What is that? Non-alcoholic beer. We don't have that either. How do you know you don't have it, if you don't even know what it is? I just know. Can I have a Michelob Ultra. We are out. So I did not eat. The person with me ordered food and drink. The food was overcooked, it was obviously just slung onto the plate without care. The following day I called, and asked for a manager. I was on hold for over 10 minutes. When I finally spoke with "Mark," and explained what had happened. He said he would have to speak with his district manager to submit a "change of procedure!" I was DUMBFOUNDED. I asked why would he have to submit a procedure change for bad service and bad food? He started to answer, then the line went dead. I even have a story from some friends where their server clocked out, and went home for the day while they sat waiting for their food. 45 minutes after ordering they complained, and the food was brought to the table. After eating, they asked for the check multiple times. Eventually after waiting for over 45 minutes for the check, they walked out. A 1 hour lunch break during a work day turned in to a 2 hour extended lunch, and a speech from the boss. Simply stated this place is a S**T-HOLE! Incompetence seemingly infects everyone working there. BAD STAFF COMES FROM A LACK OF TRAINING, POOR MANAGEMENT, AND VACANT LEADERSHIP. Why anyone would ever go back? I know I won't go back. We walked in and immediately were seated, we were waited on, then waited for 1.5 hours for our food, then, we were told they didnt have the food that we ordered. Stopped to eat while passing through Hobbs. Won't make that mistake again. Cons: Very poor service both with wait staff and kitchen. It took over half an hour to receive our food even though there were only about 8 other (small) tables. Drinks were not placed correctly, our server seemed always in a rush and very quick at our table but had plenty of time to cut up with the other servers on the floor, I had to ask multiple times for the same thing (things like lemons and extra napkins...), we were told they were out of fried green tomatoes but the table that came in about 5-10 minutes after us placed an order of them just fine, my husband was shorted half of his shrimp and the mashed potatoes weren't even warm. Pros: It is a well kept establishment and appeared clean. My son got the chicken fried chicken sandwich (which is huge!) and I got the chicken fried steak and both of those were very good. They really seem to do well with the fried stuff because the fried pickles and onion rings were very good as well but anything else past that was kind of bleh... read more

Would love to give Cotton Patch a better rating but the service was so bad (even though everyone was friendly!) and GET'S food was actually cold when it was finally delivered. Initially it took more than 25 minutes for.our order to be delivered, then, as I stated, all components of his meat loaf dinner were cold. The server took it back saying that his manager would take care of it. More waiting and finally the manager delivered his meal which was hot this time. (I think the Manager should have offered to adjust our bill but she didn't) Several times the server offered refills of our drinks but then would forget to bring them! To top the bad service off, we had to wait and wait for our check, finally asking the hostess to find our server! BAD BAD! read more

Everyone that worked here looked like they hated their lives to begin with. Which makes me believe the management team is a HUGE PART of the problem. No one was smiling, the host wasn't seating people in order and bussing super slow. They were not busy when we came in at all. They maybe had 8 out of the 36 table they have available full. They claimed the kitchen was backed up and under staffed. A table of ten walked In and never got any kind of service so they left. This place will go out of business if these managers don't step it up and keep their employees happy. What a shame, I actually enjoy the food here but the staff needs a lot of work. Starting with the host/busser. Move your rear if you have to bus and host. Speak up so people can hear you! The guests are counting on you! The servers are counting on you to seat them so they can make money. read more

Went to the Cottonpatch Café last evening! We both chose the Chicken Fried Steak and it was the largest I've ever had, along with a decent price! It was tender and smothered with gravy! Very fresh and awesome service! We even forgot to grab the receipts and they allowed us to go back and they printed us another copy. We paid in cash so it was amazing they did it for us! There was no wait, but we went around 9:00 pm! The service and food were the best we have had here in Hobbs so far! read more

Went yesterday after church, had great food and awesome service. Restaurant was very clean.

Waited 20 minutes after seated. Not one person asked for our drink order. Only 3 tables were occupied.

We have been there several times and received good service. Last Sunday we went there for lunch and we were basically ignored. We sat down to wait for a table and watched as everyone who came in after us got seated almost right away. We finally left and ate somewhere else. I don't know why we received such treatment. We have never caused any problems, don't complain and don't skimp on tips. I guess they've lost our business. read more

I used to eat at the Hobbs location at least two or three times a week. The food was great and as long as we got one of four of the best servers the service was the best. They moved the manager to another location and the new manager has fired the best cook and one of the best servers. You now are luck to get your meal prepared as ordered, it is over cooked or just plain burnt. The service still depends on who is serving you. I no long eat at this restaurant. I really miss the people who are gone and the great food we used to get. read more
