Food was excellent and the portions of the brisket and ribs were so tender. The two sauces that came with the meal were very tasty. The service and staff were outstanding. We would recommend them to anyone. We are definitely coming back. The ambiance was beautiful for a place so small. Family owned and they are some beautiful people. They recommend Joe's Italian for our Anniversary and it was a beautiful place. read more

I want to give this place more stars but I just can't. I've been here over a handful of times because everyone raves about it. The brisket is dry and other meats are so so. Bbq sauce is watery and simply off putting. Super small inside and way too stuffy. The only good things are the dessert and super friendly staff. Sad to say but there are better barbecue spots nearby. read more

Great food just pricey, friendly staff and a little hard to get in an out of at high traffic times but good food.

Friendly, quaint, atmosphere. Food was half and half. Hot link was delicious and appropriately spicey. Brisket was dry and required sauce to help it down. Pulled pork wad good, but nothing too special, or that would make it stand out from others. We ordered a corndog for the child, which was slightly burnt fried. Mac and cheese side was the star for the kiddo, but every mac and cheese is a star with them, right?! Corn on the cob was pretty tasty. Would have appreciated better bbq for the price. Maybe it was the day and time we came. read more

Small hole in the wall with excellent food. The young lady working there is always friendly and working hard. I like to get the pulled pork sandwich with the mustard BBQ sauce and a side of fried okra and haven't been disappointed yet. Someday, I may get out of my rut and try something different, and the menu has plenty of options for me to pick from. I recommend this place to everyone I talk to BBQ about. read more

From the outside it's easy to miss. It's a small little joint and doesn't scream "come eat here". Despite what Yelp says, though, it is open on Mondays. When you walk in, there are 4 tables that have some old plastic table coverings and a random assortment of chairs. Kind of inviting until you eat their "food". As for my first impression of the service, the lady at the counter was extremely friendly and helpful with menu questions. The prices are exhorbanent especially for what they offer. I'm not sure what happened in Carlsbad for people to accept this dried out and wanting meat as BBQ but it is New Mexico so I'm sure I shouldn't be so surprised. I would avoid this place. Ribs were terrible. Brisket was worse (and tasted like it had been smoked with fence pickets). Pulled pork couldn't save them at the end. The baked beans were definitely Bushes or some off brand from a can. Overall the service is all they have to offer. I'd say "save yourself some time and money" but you'd be best off making the trip over the state line to TX where you can eat a decent meal. read more

the food was good but it was pricey the brisket was dry and the hot link was good and hot the pulled pork was sorta stiff and the ketchup was off-tasting. read more

Bbq is good. Brisket is good nothing spesh. Ribs are prob the best. Potato salad is ok.. we just stick with okra and fries for sides. We def will go back. read more

Food was very good! Pulled pork sandwich needed some bbq sauce which made the sandwich delicious. Ribs were tender and juicy, "fall of the bone" good. Mac and cheese and okra were nice sides to have as well; food was delicious enough to forget about taking pictures of all the home-style cooking. I will love to try more options with our next visit! read more

If the app would allow it I would give zero stars for this restaurant. Being from Kansas City, have lived in Texas, and traveling to other regions known for BBQ. Knowing that every region has its own style of doing BBQ. Being a certified BBQ Judge I take BBQ very seriously. I've had tasted better BBQ judging the Kids Division of BBQ contests than what I ordered at this restaurant. read more

Great tasting Southern-style bar-b-que. Ribs, brisket, pulled pork. Homemade BBQ sauce.

First, the good. The food is very, very excellent. We tried the pork ribs, beef brisket, polish sausage and hot links, with onion rings on the side. All were fantastic. The meat was very tender, and their sauce was amazingly good. Now, the bad. We ordered takeout online, and the site said food would be ready in about 30 minutes. I showed up then, but our food was not ready for another 45 minutes afterward. An hour and 15 minutes to get our food! There were about 5 others who were waiting just as long. There were two tables of dine-in as well, and people at one of them were asking each other when they'd get to eat. I realize that this is a small operation, and that Carlsbad doesn't have a lot of dining options. Getting an order out every 10 minutes doesn't seem sustainable though. I really hope they figure things out and this place survives, as their food is pretty great. read more

A Legit BBQ joint in Carlsbad! Ordered the 3 meat plate, drove across town, checked in to my room and the meat was still off-the-pit Hot! The brisket was lean and tender and the Sauce was great. They were super busy at closing time and the young lady making the orders was hustling and got my order perfect! The best BBQ I've had in forever! Check it out read more

Awesome food! The sandwiches were filled with meat! It came out pretty fast too! The macaroni salad was ok and the coleslaw was good. The only thing is they gave me a half full container of the coleslaw when I paid 2.75 for it. But they were nice enough to actually fill it up when I asked. Tips: wash your hands before coming in if you intend to eat in because they don't have a washroom yet. They don't have free cups of water either which was kinda weird. read more

My Daddy's Bar-B-Que - Pulled pork Mac salad and coleslaw. Each side is 2.75! Not really worth it imo - Barbeque Near Me - Carlsbad, New Mexico

The Pulled Pork Sandwiches here were really great! Probably my second favorite bbq in town. I think they would really benefit from offering a sweet bbq and a spicy bbq sauce if they were able to make those options available I think would attract a broader crowd. The food was perfectly cooked, but I am a fan of a little spice kick, but I also am a fan of a restaurant who cooks things fairly mild so that customers can make the choice themselves to avoid displeasing those who aren't accustom to spicy foods But if there were a spicy bbq sauce then I would definitely eat here more often! The sauce they currently offer is good on its own but for someone who likes to have the spicy option, it would be nice to be able to try! read more

Easy choice for BBQ in Carlsbad. The homemade BBQ sauce is sweet, smoky with a touch of spice. Buy a bottle while you are there. I did the BBQ beans, coleslaw, chopped brisket and sausage. I am a big guy and it was so much food I could not finish it. Everything I tried was great. Come check it out. read more

What a great BBQ place! We were a little skeptical at first because this is a small building tucked in a quiet area but I'm so glad we stopped! Visited this BBQ joint right after seeing the caverns. Possibly some of the BEST Barbeque I have had. It's tangy and worth every bite. Their bathroom is accessed from outside, a little confusing to find, but it's definitely there! Don't be deceived that it's tiny and has a small parking lot. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I ordered the combo 4 platter and split it with my fiancé. It was enough food for the both of us. The ribs fall off the bone and the sausage is a perfect amount of spice Make the trip! it's only a 5-10 minute drive from the caverns (after you officially get off the cavern's 45-minute trail) read more

Sometimes you take a chance on a place you never been to. Sometimes you win and sometimes you loose. This place was a looser. I had a two meat plate with brisket and ribs. I've had my share of bbq in my time and I know ribs are gonna have some fat on them. But seriously, these were basically fat and bone. No meat here. Some of the brisket was burned beyond being eatable, and the rest was just dry and tasteless. I had to drown everything in sauce just to eat it. The only thing I can say good about this place is that the fried okra was good. My advice is to pass this place up. read more

This southern girl was so happy to find real southern BBQ. The ribs were fall off the bone tender and the homemade sauce was so good, we took 2 bottles to go back to MS. NOW, the sides- the man knows how to salt a fry. They were just out of the fryer crisp and plenty of salt. Perfect. The fried okra was southern. If you don't know about fried okra, have never had it, this is the place. You will never have any better. We wish we lived closer. Guaranteed we will be back if we ever get within 100 miles. read more

PASS ON THIS PLACE: Young staff couldn't recommend anything when I asked and acted awkward and did not say thank you after we paid. Meat was tender but greasy and made the bun fall apart. I only ate half and enjoyed my Lays chips more than the brisket sandwich. The BBQ containers were clogged and had BBQ sauce all over them and after asking for them to be unclogged, they didn't clean them off. Very disgusting and unappetizing. Lack of cleanliness of the containers made me wonder what would be found in the kitchen, if that's what customers see. Very young staff, not professional. I do not recommend this place and would not go here again. The only redeeming thing was a very young girl who greeted everyone as they walked through the doors. She had a personality for days and will probably one day run the restaurant better. read more

Small shack and that is exactly what I am looking for in a BBQ joint. Ordered for 3 adults the 1/2 lb each of the brisket, hot links, and pork ribs. Ribs were very good! Brisket was ok but a little dry. Much better when mixed with the sauce. Also ordered sides of baked beans, cole slaw, and macaroni and cheese. All were excellent! The baked beans had a hint of jalapeño and very flavorful (not too spicy, just right level of heat). read more

I seek out BBQ joints when I travel and ask for local's recommendations. My Daddy's BBQ came highly recommended and Yelp's 4 1/2 star rating sealed the deal. It is advertised as South Carolina style BBQ so I was excited to eat this style again. I have to say, disappointed is putting it mildly! I ordered the 3 meat combo, pulled pork, shredded brisket, and ribs. My plate consisted of a generous portion of large ribs (4) and the flap of meat usually trimmed off. I had to ask for my two other meats, they forgot to serve it. Again very generous servings of both pulled pork and brisket. One really big disappointment was the smoking wood. When asked, I was told it was a mixture of Mesquite, Hickory, and some Oak. Traditional South Carolina BBQ uses Hickory and sometimes Oak. Mesquite is a western wood. There was so much mesquite it made the meat acrid and bitter. In addition, the ribs were cold and dried out. The only positive thing was the BBQ sauce. Tangy and thin with great flavor, but not enough to overcome the mesquite. I cannot recommend My Daddy's BBQ! read more

The place is pretty much take out only, but last I recall there was a picnic bench out front. AS to the food? Its to die for if you like finger licking pork in a slathering of mustard based southern style spicy BBQ with a side of dilectable beans and some delicious slaw. Bread roll included to mop up the left over juices. You gotta go here! They also cater your events read more

My favorite BBQ place in town. Owner is also the city health inspector, so you know the place is nice and clean. Brisket, pulled pork, and catfish are all really good, but the pulled pork is by far my favorite. Also, if you like Carolina mustard sauce, theirs is quite good! read more

Delicious Bar-B-Q & friendly service! Lone the special sauces including the spicy yellow sauce!

Barbecue that's worth more than a few stains on your shirt! A must-eat stop in Carlsbad. Make sure to order some potato salad with whatever yummy main dish you get. We would have bought the sauce but I'm pretty sure we can't make the meat the way Daddy does. Several small tables inside and a covered park bench outside, or you can take it to go. Trust me, the food will be gone before you know it. read more

Food might be good, but service incredibly slow. Ordered gumbo to go 15 minutes ago, still waiting. I naively assumed they had a pot simmering and could scoop some up, but it looks like it's just first come first serve. read more

Staff was extremely friendly and polite. I had the 3 meat plate brisket, pork ribs, hot link, with mac and cheese and coleslaw as side. The brisket was a little lean for my taste but taste fine ribs were a bit small good flavor hot link was great the coleslaw was perfect just the right amount of sweet my wife had the pork plate. Her pulled pork was the best pf all meats we ordered. The biggest downside for me is the dining are has no air conditioning only ceiling fans snd it was hot! Other than that food was decent for the price and portions were correct. I will return sooner if A/C is installed read more
