Service was excessively slow, server kept mixing sweet tea with non sweet tea, flies were a real problem throughout the meal actually got in the food a number of times, the Cobb Salad was nothing more than a dinner salad with some bacon on the top, the Medallions were about the amount of the serving size of 3 quarters. The Cascades is a little hard to find, Google Maps took us to the block where it is located, but be sure to keep going around the corner. Has a nice view of a reservoir. They made good use of a repurposed building. This is where we ate after leaving Yellow Brix. The staff was nice, and the food was hot. Unfortunately they do not have to go cups for their great unsweet tea, but we enjoyed it. read more

We were on vacation and needed a place to hold 12 people. We found this restaurant on Yelp and decided to go for it. Nice place. Has an outdoor seating area. We were all seated together but we were in the bar which was a bummer considering we had two young children with us. It took a very long time to get our food. We waited approximately 40 minutes. The food was ok. I would give it a 5/10. The waitress was nice but not super attentive. Overall I don't plan on returning back. Super bummed read more

This new place is a good stopover. We wanted to try something other than the places we had been while we were shopping in Carlsbad, and yelped the restaurants. We were pleased to see a new grill that opened in May. Though there were 0 reviews we popped in for lunch :) I very much enjoyed the made in house lemon/Caesar dressing as it was tangy and delicious. The grilled chicken tasted very good, and was moist, tender, and seasoned pleasantly. I liked the house made fries as they were cut thinly, and in a wedge-like shape. Some of the fries had proofed in the frying, thereby making them fun to eat. My husband enjoyed the blackened cob with the salad/Caesar. I tried a small bite of the cod, and it was pretty spicy (for anyone with a tender stomach), but probably a medium-to-hot spicy for a hatch pepper area like Carlsbad. Our server, Destiny, was pleasant and attentive, who checked with the kitchen for the few questions we had. She kept the tea and ice going well as it was August heat :) The location is quite enjoyable, and is right off the Pecos river area of town. The restaurant has a covered patio with seating that looks engaging. The bar/lounge side to the restaurant has TV screens for sport watchers, and is decorated with Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr. (Rat Pack) pictures :) The plants looked fresh and tidy and some flowers were still blooming. The restroom is in the main part of the business building just outside the dining area. I especially liked the leather aprons the host and servers were wearing, and asked about them, and they were made specifically for the restaurant. The two nearly nude paintings of females boldly displayed at the host station were rather a startling jolt. We wondered at the kind of ambiance these were attempting to obtain especially as one might bring in families. Although, to give the benefit of the doubt, perhaps they are family, sentimental pieces of a mother/ grandmother of the owner? Overall we appreciate the owner, Derrick, and the adventure of the new grill. Be sure to note they are not open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Most likely we will return when we are in Carlsbad, especially as the owner was attentive to his customers needs :) read more

We went for dinner, so maybe it was the vibes from how an area can look different in the dark, but this area looked sketchy. The Caesar salad was good. We ordered the short rib and salmon dishes they were okay. The reason I deducted stars is because for the price the quality of the food should have been better. Decided to try this place out, and went for a late lunch. Besides us, there was one other table. Service was fantastic. The food however.... I got the fried catfish. My husband got the Philly cheesesteak. The catfish was $20, and i received some of the thinnest "nuggets" of fish I've ever had, four tater tat sized hushpuppies, and a small handful of onion strings. The fish skin was still on under the cornmeal breading, and trying to be low maintenance, i ended up peeling it off, (essentially reducing each piece by like 40%) was kind of put off from the rest of the fish afterwards though. My husband liked his cheesesteak. Overall, pretty scant portions and forgettable food for the price of a mid/upper casual dining. The place looks nice, and has a nice patio/bar area. But aside from the aesthetics and service, the food leaves a lot to be desired. We will most likely never return. read more

While visiting the area, we stopped by for the 'Waffle Town Special' (available weekends only). The food was excellent, the atmosphere was wonderful, and the staff was both friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back for brunch the next time we're in town! read more

The food is terrible. I had the spaghetti which tasted like it came out of a Ragu jar. Then I tried again. The steak was terrible. Half was raw and half was well done, even though I asked for a medium rare. The service was surly. I love the Trinity Hotel restaurant and Cascades is their sister restaurant that doesn't compare at all. The drinks are way overpriced as is the food, especially for the abysmal quality. Traveled to Carlsbad for work this week, I tried multiple restaurants in town, and stumbled across the Cascades Grill, it just opened, hands down the best place I went. I had the Steak A-5 New York strip, it was AMAZING! Drinks were amazing, the ambience beautiful, staff were wonderful. read more
