A whole lot of standing around and doing NOTHING but talking. Guys were ALL standing around while the girls were cooking. Kid at the window needed a belt. We waited forever in the drive thru. My first & last visit to Blake's. Ordered at 11:55 (no line/not busy), got concerned & went up to the counter around 12:10 (15 min), was finally able to get someone's attention at 12:19 (24 min), received my food at 12:27 (32 min). Man it was a pain yesterday! HH wanted a green chili burger (for old time sake) from Blake's when we visited Carlsbad. I don't do hamburgers but the other Blake's does have pretty good hotdogs...at least the OTHER Blake's in the state do. Due to my allergy to peppers, I had a real hard time trying to figure out what I could eat. The kid at the register could not seem to grasp my request as to ingredients in the Chicken tender breading, out came one employee who didn't understand the request, then another employee and then another employee. (My mind was blown) finally a young girl pulled up her phone with the ingredients listing. There was no crushed red peppers ... So I ordered the 'tenders' and sadly they were over cooked & dry! HH (hungry hubby) liked his burger. We really liked the onion rings. Over all the place was well staffed , but tables were dirty. We came in during a a slow time, about 4:30. read more

If you like being surprised by the food you get and not getting what you ordered and being treated rudely when they mess up your order, then this is the place for you. I ordered online and then went through the drive-through on my way to work to pick up my breakfast burrito as I do once or twice a week for years. The last couple of months, they kept getting my order wrong, like sausage instead of bacon or heavy hash browns instead of light hash browns like I ordered but I just eat it because i dont have time to take it back before work. Then this week I got to work with my burrito and opened it and it had no bacon that asked for, it had red sauce when I asked for no sauce and it had refried beans on it which never order. So I called the store and some confused girl answers and I tell her the issue and she asked if I'd like to speak to the manager. I tell her yes, then she comes back on the phone and asks what should have been on my burrito, so I tell her, and she says we'll get that ready. I explain im at work and can't leave work and ask if I can just get my burrito free tomorrow to replace today's. She once again says, "Let me ask the manager." She comes back on the phone and says the manager says that's fine to come get a new one tomorrow morning. Fast forward to the next morning, where I go through the drive-through and the same girl I dealt with the day before answers, and I explain who I am, and she says, "Let me get my manager. The manager comes on and asks if I have my receipt. I explain it was an online order and give her my name and she replies we cant look that up so I say we'll when I spoke to the girl on the phone yesterday she didn't tell me I would need a receipt. She tells me we'll I can't help you without a receipt, and I say I spoke to someone yesterday that said to come in today, and she says we'll no one left me a note. Then she asked who I spoke to, and I said the same girl that just answered to take my order . Then she says, "What's the name of the person you spoke to and I said I don't know because she never gave me her name and she says I can't help you without a receipt. I say so you want me to dig my receipt out of the trash, and she says yes, I need to know what was on the receipt and what we gave you. After I just explained what I ordered and what was given to me. The fast food places in this town have gone downhill, and customer service is nonexistent. So do yourself a favor and avoid this place and stick to the local places. As i drove off from Blakes completely frustrated with no burrito in hand, I called Blue House and placed a burrito and coffee order . The girl on the phone recognized my coffee order and asked if it was me. I said yes, and she had my order CORRECT and ready when I walked in the door. Needless to say, I won't be going back to Blake's. I may be just one person, but keep treating your customers this way, and one will turn into hundreds then thousands until you're out of business read more

Blake's is a NM staple and worth checking out if you're in the area. The food was fresh and hot and came out quickly. The restaurant was pretty empty when we dined but it was before the dinner rush. We have always eaten at Blake's Lotaburger when we are in Carlsbad. We do not have one in Hobbs where we are from. I was concerned when I saw that their review rate was only a 2.0. I do believe part of this is because people expect it to be a fast food restaurant and it is not. We got takeout and our order was completely wrong. We ordered single meat cheeseburgers and instead we got four double meat green chili burgers... My children were unable to eat. Also, there was no salt, pepper or any seasoning on the burger at all. Consistently good food. I don't even like burgers, but they're good like Whataburger used to be and then some. The staff is always incredibly friendly and helpful. The lack of 1 star comes from the fries and chicken being slightly burnt. I think the grease is a little hot. read more

We came thru the drive thru on A Saturday around 6:15pm there was 1 person in line in front of us. We ordered 3 burgers, onions rings and a medium seasoned fries, got the food pretty quickly. we did not receive the fries, but we were too lazy to go back after we started driving away. The patties on the burger were pretty unseasoned and the burgers were a bit watery/soggy. But the toppings of onions mustard pickles and chiles really saved the day with the flavor. We just got into Carlsbad and were looking for a place with burgers. Preferably at a place we don't have where we live, in Texas. The interior reminds me a bit of whataburger. When we walked up to the counter there was no greeting. I felt like we were in a staring contest until we finally asked if she was ready for our order. We didn't receive 2 of our items. I went right back and one of the missing items was cheese fries. They didn't bother to melt the cheese on the fries when they gave us the replacement. One burger the dressing was wrong. Went through drive, forgot our drinks after we waited for about 10-15 minutes, no big deal I know it happens, however, by this point my infant is screaming. Husband pulls up so I can run in and get our drinks. The girl asks if I have my receipt of course not, I'm a mom with two kids, my brain is fried, plus no one asks for that if we literally just got our food. Whatever comes with the meal. The person who too our order didn't specify. She keeps asking if I have it and just looks at me like I'm dumb. Just give me two freaking drinks I don't care what size! District Manager Javier Guevara refused us entry into the business unless we wear a face mask. Ironically, I had no idea who he was and I was holding the door open for him as he carried something into the store. Not only did he not thank me for holding the door, he rudely demanded that I need to put on a mask if I want to enter. The parking lot is trashed and the bathrooms are always filthy, but he's worried about healthy people wearing a piece of cloth over their face. Ridiculous. I've tried this place a few times over the years, service has been sub par every time. At least it's consistent. Pull in the drive through maybe wait 3-5 minutes before they even say anything. Come inside to get order corrected (not for the squeamish) Staff with long hair not wearing hair nets, but at least they wear gloves when handling the food ig. This time around staff seems to be nothing but teenagers versus the older staff. At least this young staff has some wiggle room to mess up orders. I was super skeptical about this place because of the reviews, but we decided to give it a try. I had their burger with green chilies and it came out hot and perfect. Their fries are great as well.
