I have been going to Cotton Patch for years. Always great food and service. I'm not sure if management has changed or what, but today was the worst experience I've had at the Temple, TX branch. I was actually shocked when a wait person left me a couple of rolls that looked like they had been smashed, literally. The tea wasn't even up to parr. Needless to say the dining experience was ruined. I finally stopped a different wait person since mine didn't seem to want to be bothered. He was glad to bring me a roll that was actually brown from being cooked AND not smashed. Thanks to that wait person. You know who you are!! Worst experience ever at Cotton Patch. I think the cold food has to do the with shortage all restaurants are having to deal with due to covid. Our waitress was nice but she seemed to be new to the job. Hello, We had been seated for around twenty minutes. We had not been acknowledged at all and had sat there. There were three other tables that had been waited on, even after coming in later than we had. We were very "upset" with this and had left the restaurant. As we walked out, we told the hostess, "We waited for around 20 minutes and had not once been met by someone asking if we wanted drinks, or if we wanted anything." The hostess replied, "Where were you seated?" (Which is probably not the best thing to say.) We proceeded to point out where we had sat and that she had walked past us multiple times. Then she walked off and said, "thank y'all," and left us there to walk out the restaurant. Would not recommend based off of service. This is the meal I wanted so I aid you have it delivered. Something just was not good about the taste of this chicken and dressing. It was lacking something. I wonder if it was sllowed to get stale or soured? Took Uber eats too long. I was going to get two of them snd I'm so glad that I didn't. I even bought my own cranberry sauce snd it did not help to make it more tasty. They don't give any cranberry sauce with this becsuse it's chicken not turkey. First time here. Met some guys for lunch. Service was impeccable. Sweet tea was constantly filled and before we all left and went our separate ways waiter gave us all to go cups of tea. It was 100+ degrees outside. Nice touch. All the staff were friendly. I had the chicken fried chicken with green beans and mashed potatoes. It was outstanding. The rest of my party had chicken fried steak. By the looks of their plates, they liked their meal too! No dessert for me, but all the options looked very good. Been here before, but it has been awhile. Wife and I went there planning on sharing the Monday night special chicken fried chicken. The new menu includes a plate that you can purchase TWO chicken fried steaks OR TWO chicken fried chicken or ONE of each with two sides. We were going to share so we went with two chicken fried chickens with mashed potatoes and corn. Our waiter Samuel S informed us each portion would be a lunch portion. It was good of him to tell us that. The meal came out fresh. The portions of chicken were plenty. Wife ate half of hers. Chicken was tasty. Potatoes and corn were okay, but no real seasoning. The rolls and cornbread were excellent. I ate a cornbread as a dessert. Our waiter, Samuel S, was the highlight of the night. He topped our drinks TWO times. I decided to give this place another try, ....... big mistake. Last time I was here, I told myself, never again, but, hey, it's close to my work and a fairly quick place to grab lunch if you get the right server, today service was OK. Had the mushroom swiss burger. Decent sized burger totally lacking in flavor. The meat was indistinguishable from the mushrooms in both taste and consistency. Both the lettuce and onions are diced, so they fall out of the burger. They placed the hot burger patty on top of the tomatoes, so they were half cooked and soggy by time the burger arrived. It must have sat somewhere for a while, because it was not hot when it was served. Fries were of the frozen variety, but OK. Last time I was here, I had the lunch special chicken fried steak. I understand reduced portions for lunch, but this was ridiculous, a 3x3 inch piece of meat in which the first half inch is only batter. and $2.19 plus tax is too much for a glass of tea. won't be going back anytime soon. read more

My daughter, granddaughter and I ate dinner at the College Station Cotton Patch last Saturday evening. We typically dine at the Bryan location, but we were closer to this one. We've eaten at this Cotton Patch before to mediocre reviews. Yet, not only did we enjoy our meals, we had an exceptional server as well. Kelsey H. was personable and courteous, especially to our little one. She provided us with excellent service and, in large part, helped this location of Cotton Patch earn my 5-star rating. The service and food quality my family received from this establishment was downright embarrassing. The waitress had a shadowing trainee, yet between the two of them, they still had to be reminded to retrieve items we asked for. For example, when we were lead to our table..3 adults, 2 toddlers..I asked for 2 booster seats. I then took both kids to use the restroom and returned to the table..no boosters. The waitress returned asking if we were ready to order. Mind you..I'm literally standing beside the table, along with 2 toddlers waiting for their seats. I haven't even sat down, much less looked at a menu. I asked again for the boosters. She returns stating the restaurant only has high chairs..which were way too small. That shouldn't have taken over 15 mins to get resolved. We ordered off the lunch menu. NEVER order off their lunch menu if you're hungry. If you are looking for a snack, sure. A meal? Absolutely not. My aunt ordered the chicken fried chicken and mashed potatoes for $7. When the food arrived, there literally one chicken strip (not at all what chicken fried chicken is supposed to be) and a scoop of mashed potatoes on a massive plate. One tiny chicken strip. She could have ordered a kids meal and received TWO strips, a side, fruit, dessert, and a drink for the same price!! I couldn't believe they had the nerve to pass that off as a complete meal, and keep a straight face. This location got my order completely wrong and it was items I could not eat. I asked for a refund and the manager said he would call back (take-out). The manager never called back. It is not up to the customer to drive back and pick up a new order. This place is super unprofessional! I already left it at the restaurant, as asked, on the day the order was incorrect. My family and I went to the Cotton Patch tonight, we said we would not go back after the the last time we went. We gave them another chance. The server was really good so we were torn when it came to the tip (she got a good tip). The reason we were torn was because the food was HORRIBLE! I had shrimp and fish and the shrimp was fried to death and the fish was not cooked enough. The wife got the shiner fish and it was burned on the edges and the fried were soggy with grease. The kids like their food but they will eat anything. $68 dollar meal wasn't worth $10. We will not give them another chance. I do feel bad about it because our server was awesome! read more

Still haven't heard back from them or gotten anything in the mail. No wonder they hire people that braid their hair in the kitchen and cough all over your water before they bring it out to you. I got grilled chicken with rice and veggies. If the chicken was seasoned, I surely did not taste it. I ordered the Harvest Salad sans the bleu cheese - I'm allergic - and I thoroughly enjoyed my salad - including grilled chicken on top. I also ordered the Balsamic Vinaigrette salad dressing on the side - they always give you *way* more than you should ever put on a salad.. That much salad dressing defeats the whole point of the salad. Well, the salad was amply sprinkled with walnuts and raisins - the mix of greens was diverse and fresh. I'd surely order this item again - it was fresh and healthy & had a lot of different textures and tastes. I guess the thumbs up or thumbs down on the Cotton Patch all depends on what you order. Stick with the salad. I will say that it was very much like a TGI Fridays or a Roadhouse. read more

The staff is not very good. The night I came, it was mostly college students. It was a weeknight and it took five minutes before anyone came to the counter to take my order. To make it worse, a staffmember was not five yards away just chatting to another member of the staff. It was another ten minutes before a waiter took the orders of my companions after we sat down. Later in the meal, another waiter sat in a chair (did not stand) next to me to fill our water glasses. The food is decent but too many fried choices on the menu. I had the potato soup. It came with bacon bits, cheese and dried onions. The place is small and located in a line of store-fronts at a business strip center. Update: This location has become slower and slower. We went to grab an early dinner last Friday and our server was not good. We finished our meal and sat there with empty plates for 20 minutes before she even came to see how we were. She never once refilled our drinks and I had to ask for the check. We've had other servers that have been good but I'm just getting tired of the wait so I think it is going to be a while before we return. Tldr: food was great, to-go service was efficient and friendly, but they messed up my drink order which was a turnoff, and a waste of a dollar. This was my first time eating with Cotton Patch, and the food did not disappoint. We split the large order of Bacon Cheese Fries as an afternoon snack to tide over after not eating all day. The fries were a giant greasy stack of heaven, and the ranch that accompanied the delicious heart attack was perfect. We called in a to go order; the To-go service was prompt and friendly, and when offered the special $1 to go drink I thought, why not. Cotton Patch catered my son and daughter in law's 60 guest wedding earlier this year and I accidentally posted this review in the wrong place. The manager and his staff member personally delivered and set up grilled chicken, rice, garlic mashed potatoes, mixed veggies, macaroni and cheese, meatloaf, hot bread, and salad. They were on time with well protected hot food, all dressings, gravy, sauces, and serving utensils were provided. Thank you Cotton Patch for doing an exceptional job of making the evening perfect. I don't stray far from what they're "known for". That being said, I ordered chicken fried chicken to go, with gravy on the side (I've learned from other restaurants that it guarantees me a freshly made chicken breast and not a microwave heated one drowned in gravy. So, of course my CFC was fresh out of clean frying oil (I've had dirty before!) corn was good, mashed potatoes tasted like they had been scooped from a 11am batch. My rolls were hot and golden brown and my server was very courteous walking around and handing me my bag. Minus stars for no plasticware or napkins in the bag, no cornmuffins(which I prefer over the bread if they're hot and fresh), and those old mashed potatoes.
