That being said, I ordered chicken fried chicken to go, with gravy on the side (I've learned from other restaurants that it guarantees me a freshly made chicken breast and not a microwave heated one drowned in gravy. So, of course my CFC was fresh out of clean frying oil (I've had dirty before!) corn was good, mashed potatoes tasted like they had been scooped from a 11am batch. My rolls were hot and golden brown and my server was very courteous walking around and handing me my bag. Minus stars for no plasticware or napkins in the bag, no cornmuffins(which I prefer over the bread if they're hot and fresh), and those old mashed potatoes. Great service but the food was mediocre. My dining partners ordered the shrimp basket and the the fish and chips. (I ordered the chicken fried steak). On all plates, the fries were soggy and chewy. Good food, incredibly horrible service!! We come frequently but the service is getting worse and worse. Come in, there are maybe 8 tables and 6 servers. Took 10 minutes to get greeted and that was after we asked for a server. He was unfriendly and with a lackadaisical attitude. Took our order and returned 7 min later to say they were out of one of the dishes we ordered. My husbands salad came out not as ordered so had to wait on chicken. Overall not impressed with the service or place any longer. The Bryan location is run much better so will be going to that location, if we return. read more

My husband and I have tried this restaurant in Bryan twice before COVID ever came about. Our first visit it took a waitress 25 minutes to even see that we were there before addressing us. She brought us some water, but never brought the rolls. We sat there another 15 minutes without ordering and still no rolls. We finally walked out. Second time, my husband ordered the grilled pork chop plate and his food was cold and so tough, he couldn't eat it and again, very slow service. Well, it's been a year since we're decided to try it one more time. We went today after church and walked up to the attendant. She asked us how many and I told her two. My husband returned from the restroom and she immediately told us it would now be a 30 minute wait. We saw empty available tables that were NOT unused due to COVID. This was a great place to eat . We ate there night before last , what a let down. My french fries were cold and soggy and my wife's bake Potato was cold with a large hole in it. Our shrimp was old only lukewarm and appeared to be very old. The corn bread is great but the menu is too typical of chain restaurants and the food drips grease......for some people this is a must, and I agree when it comes to burgers.....not meatloaf. Got a order today from online. Haven't had Cotton Patch in forever and man it was amazing! Had friendly staff during my time paying for the order, and they seemed happy. Always nice to see someone else with a smile on their face. Got a Bacon Burger for like 8 to 9.99 (somewhere in there) and it was DEFINITELY worth its price. It was SO delicious. The waitress was very nice, but this place is over rated. We waited way too long for a bowl of soup and a salad. I specifically asked if the chicken in the salad would be warm and she said yes. When we finally got our food, I took a bite only to find the chicken ice cold, right out of the fridge. My husband's soup hardly had any veggies in it. We can barely say the food was ok, very disappointing. They have a captive market because of the college so I guess they do not have to try very hard. Since my original review, Marissa Kelley from the restaurant contacted me. She was ever so sorry for our awful experience, offered to refund our money after I told her we do not live in College Station. What a joke. I gave her our credit card info on the phone after several email exchanges. She assured me she would give us credit that very evening . Two weeks have passed , no credit and no responses to my emails advising her that we are still waiting. They are so quick to charge the credit cards but cannot get around to reimbursement. The bread here is very good, the butter included is unique and enjoyable. I always get the tropical meatloaf and find it to be well worth the price. Combine this with the mac and cheese, rice and mashed potatoes and you have something that you will dream about every time hunger comes about. This quaint little cafe is a spot my grandmother and I enjoy together when I visit for long weeks. Recently, I went here with my father while we were up in College Station. I rave on & on about the wide selection of food choices to family members quite frequently, for Cotton Patch certainly has many. From ordering salmon and steak fingers in the past, I chose chicken & dumplings this time. The comfort from a warm, brothy soup with hardy fillings sounded delightful. Our very young attendant was patient with us, especially when my dad was blanking on what to order. The time we went was empty, but I've seen this family-friendly joint bustling with business in the past. When our food came out, I was pleased with presentation. I had a good-sized serving. The dumplings were a great texture, alongside the moist & succulent chicken was a perfect pairing. Flavorful broth with green pepper pieces hidden throughout. Yum! read more

A friend of mine had the salmon, for $14 he got a piece the size of the iPhone four. He was not impressed although he did say it was quite good. I continue to be less than impressed with the service. I've dined here twice now and both times have been impressed with the food. It's an upscale version of Applebee's or Chili's in my opinion. I ordered the Tex Mex salad and I will definitely be ordering it again. The salads are huge serving sizes and have a lot of flavor. We went here for dinner and it was a terrible. We ordered and I repeated what I wanted twice just to be sure the waitress heard me since it seemed like she wasn't really paying attention. The food took forever. My boyfriend got his food 25 minutes after we ordered(and all he order was a salad. He started eating his food and it took the waitress 10-15 minutes after he started eating to bring me my "food." As soon as the waitress sat my plate down, I knew it was wrong. I hate seafood and what was put in front of me? Seafood. I immediately got upset because it took them so long to bring me my food and then I had to wait for them to make the correct thing. It took them 30 minutes to finally bring me the correct plate. The waitress came back with the check and the to go boxes that we asked for. We looked at the check and it was $50 we normally don't have a problem with paying $50 but we didn't even order appetizers. We then noticed that she tried to charge us for the mistake she made for food we did not even eat(which was 17.99.) She said that she would fix it and so my boyfriend handed her his card. She brings the receipt and the card back and walks away. She didn't even charge him so we had to wait another 5 minutes for her to come back around so that we could pay. It's not like we were going to eat late. We were there for 1.5 hours for a dinner that usually takes us 45 minutes.This whole visit made us miss running our errands (since everything closed early due to Covid) and was a complete waste of our time. Now we have to drive back to the other side of town(25minutes away) on a different day to run our errands. We will not be going back to this location because of this. read more
