Well, my son loved the triple cheeseburger, my daughter loved the patty melt, and my husband devoured his chicken strip basket. Why the lower score? The turkey was super disappointing. It was so covered in pepper that it was inedible. The turkey gravy was also over-peppered (which is weird), so my mashed potatoes and gravy were also inedible. The cornbread was not dry, cubed cornbread, but instead it was mushy and covered in gravy... making it inedible too. Essentially I paid $11 for a small side of squash (which was good). It was a real disappointing experience as the menu says NOTHING about it being peppered turkey & gravy. I would've mentioned it to our server, but she never asked. This place is usually great. I'm just real upset at the price I paid to have to go down the road and get something at Burger King. read more

Ordered our food with our drinks so we hopefully wouldn't have had to wait for so long, the waitress came by refilled our drinks a few times by the time I realized it had been maybe 45 minutes the waitress came by and apologize and told us they made our food Togo and it had been sitting. We stopped in here for supper as the wife had been before and really liked it. The service was great and we left full and happy. I had the fried catfish basket. Two fairly large fillets fried in a cornmeal batter as it should be. It was steaming hot when they brought it out. The batter was nice and crispy. It comes with a bed of fries and two hush puppies (jalapeno). The fries were pretty good, the hushpuppies are too small, or give me 4 please lol. read more

Cotton Patch in Abilene is phenomenal! The servers are excellent and the management staff is always so efficient and helpful. We love going here every chance we get. We do have one complaint, the new bread baskets seem to have black stuff on them that to me portrays mold. I work in the restaurant business and now how hard these times are at the moment. Customer satisfaction is a must in order to keep them coming back. I ordered 2 chicken fried steak dinners and my husband picked them up while he was in town, we live 10 miles outside of town. He got home and there was absolutely no gravy. I called them and the first young lady said she knew she put gravy in the bag, ummm, no you didn't. She put me on hold and finally someone got on the phone. I appreciate your apology but no I'm not driving back into town to pick up gravy. This is the sort of place you wish you could break down further, and if I could this is how I would do it. 'Warm' greeting: 3 stars. Prices Vs portions: 4 stars. Food quality: 4 stars. Server: 1 star. And only one star as a consolation because they try and fake being nice if they ever get back to your table. You can do better in a place like Abilene, take the freeway north to Belle's at 18th or even Cracker Barrel at 531 and I-20 and you will come out ahead. Server forgot silverware but was pleasant. Dinner tonight was awesome. Caleb was our waiter and took great care of us. We had a hard time picking something from the huge menu, and he suggested several of his favorites. It was supposed to be lunch portion but it was pretty darn huge. Came with couple of sides as well. I think it was only around $7. We went to this restaurant yesterday afternoon. We were a big party and we weren't offered the back room until my husband asked for it. The hostess was wearing a mask with her nose was out and when she gave the menus and silverware to the waiter, he didn't want to take them. He walked us up to the back room and left the menus and silverware on the table announcing that we could do take them ourselves; his attitude was rude. We sat down and our waitress came quickly and took our orders; she was polite, efficient and the the point. The food was fair; we ordered fried green tomatoes and fried pickles TX style as an appetizer for everybody, but the tomatoes were bland and the crust was thick. The fried pickles were better. I ordered the chicken Alfredo pasta and to my surprise the pasta was crock screw and not spaghetti or fettuccine. The pasta and the chicken were dry and with too much condiments. The sides were just ok. The rest of the food was fair. We won't be going back. read more

We love going to cotton patch for good food and good atmosphere, however the only issues I have is when the waitstaff literally grabs your plate while your fork is still in your hand (even though there was only gravy and the last bit of crust from your meat on your fork) in lue of clearly off your table is unacceptable, the waitstaff was great at their job but my husband really struggled to tip this person on that one issue alone, I used to wait tables years of ago but I would had never grab someone's plate while still eating I don't do that at home it's flat out rude. Atmosphere is enjoying your time there right down to placing your fork and knife together on your plate and pushing it away indicating you are done and the food IS good to the LAST bite. read more

Oddly, I've lived in the area for many years, yet I've never tried the Cotton Patch. I try to frequent the smaller, locally owned Mom and Pop places, but I happened to be nearby around lunchtime and gave it a shot. Overall, I was duly impressed. Service was fast and friendly, as it should be considering the large number of waitstaff. I ordered the lunch chicken fried steak with fries and baked squash, which arrived about 5 minutes later. The CFS was exactly as it should be, and it was the perfect size for lunch, the large would be too much for me. The baked squash really stood out, sweet, very sweet, but with some black pepper it was one of my favorite sides I've had in a restaurant in a long time. The fries were somewhat disappointing considering they fry a lot. Double frying for crispiness would be a huge improvement. They had some other interesting menu items that I'd like to try, so I'll definitely be back. read more

Came in 30 minutes to close and were seated right away. The special on Monday is Country Fried Chicken or Country Fried Steak for $7.99, so both my husband and I ordered the steak. It was massive. I ordered green beans and mashed with it and everything tasted amazing. Our server Christopher never made us feel rushed. Went here last night. Place was pretty dead as it was about an hour from close. We ordered the cheese fries for appetizer and was pretty impressed. The homemade ranch was actually very good. However when we got our entrees things quickly took a turn for the worse. I ordered the chipotle maple chicken with fried okra and mashed potatoes. The chicken was not too bad, but the okra was not cooked well and was pretty much slimy. And the mashed potatoes were hard and very undercooked. The only saving grace was the gravy. My wife ordered the chicken fried steak with Mac and cheese and onion rings. First off she found a hair in her Mac and cheese. The breading for the chicken fried steak was soggy and peeling off of the steak. The Mac and cheese was dry and not very flavorful. The onion rings were good but nothing to write home about. All in all we were not very impressed by the food especially with how expensive it was. We wanted to try something new and were sadly disappointed. read more

We noticed she was treating her other tables the same way. She kept pulling her cell phone out and texting in front of us. It's shame you have people like this working for your company. Amazing food, big portions so you can share! Fried green tomato's are so yummy as well as the Dr. Pepper cake for dessert. Kids love the chicken tenders. Great sandwiches. Large menu to choose from. My friends loved this place , unfortunately i was not a huge fan . I ordered a salad with no bacon and the salad I received had little bits of bacon throughout like someone may have started to make the salad and took the bacon off once they remembered it shouldn't have bacon . 1 hour wait at dinner time , small waiting area was packed out , if you like southern country food you may like this place . Sometimes places are so bad, you don't know where to start....So I will start at the beginning. We were in a group of 9 adults, 3 kids, and Chad was our waiter. Some in our group had never been there before, and did not know they offered beer. When a party member asked for one (why they don't list them on their menu is beyond me) Chad replied, "oh, if you want beer you have to ask for it." Okkkay. Then it was time to order. He went around the table in order and when he got to the third gal, she was still unsure and said to come back to her. Instead, he said "well, I'm kind of going in order here..." Apparently, it would have been to hard for her to leave a blank space on his note pad for her and come back when she was ready. I ordered the "Wabbit Platter" which is a choice of five "vegetables." Vegetables=Sides in their book. That's fine. I ordered mine with a salad and Chad asked if I wanted the salad before hand or with the rest of the dinner and I said to just bring it out with the dinner and his response was, "oh good. That makes it easier for me." Alright. I thought I was your paying guest, and not a hassle. The food comes out and it's lacking a lot. My house salad was good, but the fried okra was either cooked too long or it was cooked in old oil that needed to be changed. The baked squash was tasteless and unrecognizable and the macaroni and cheese had the taste and texture of plastic. My husband said his hamburger was "soggy." I don't eat meat, but I am sure nobody has ever raved about a great, soggy burger. Chad waited until the last moment to really shine though. He collected our debit cards and placed ONE OF THEM IN HIS MOUTH. That is TOTALLY where it goes, right? I've worked in food service before, and yes, it can be a horrible job, but I was never rude or condescending to my customers, and I never stuck disrespected their personal property by sticking it in my pie hole....no matter how bad of a day I was having or how much I hated being there. There are plenty of other plenty of other places to dine in Abilene. Do yourself a favor and pass this place up. ***Update*** I did email Cotton Patch about our night and the manager called me today to apologize for our server's behavior and is sending us coupons for two free meals.
