Our huge haul of $600+ in goods
Janice Y.

Newest Costco location in Toronto (Rexdale)! While it's been open for a while (since November 2023), it's certainly less crazy than the Costcos I've been to near me, especially the food court on the weekend. We were there around 4-6pm~ this past Saturday. Yes, they do offer samples. However, there were no rotisserie chickens available, but also no line for a wait for one. I took a peek, and it looks like the next round of rotisserie chicken would be a while (the chicken skin was hardly roasted), so I skipped it this time. Checkout was seamless they have one person scanning and another packing our goods like tetris back to our shopping cart for efficiency. I had to make a trip to this Costco because we were looking to buy a pergola for our deck, and this is the only Costco in Toronto/GTA that has the louvered pergola in stock. We went there to check it out in-person ourselves. Turns out if you are able to pick up the pergola in person, you can save yourself $200 vs. the website. I don't know if we have a van that fits it, so we might have to buy online to ship it out. By the way, Costco Canada now has the double chocolate chip cookie on their menu for $3.49. It's like the perfect gooey chocolate chip cookie that's thick with a bit of chew in the middle and crispy on the edges. SOOO GOOD. It's absolutely delicious but not sure if it's worth 820 calories. Costco gets us EVERY TIME; this time at this location tops it as the most we've purchased in a single visit. Ouch. Good thing we don't come here often, the stock should last us for quite some time. It's not the same when you don't walk out with a rotisserie chicken to signify a win for your Costco shopping experience. You've been warned.

Food

I'm writing to express a serious concern regarding a recent experience at the food court on 07/27 at 13:48:09 I ordered an item that came with gravy, but the container I received was dripping and visibly dirty. When I politely asked a male employee for a clean replacement, he wiped the outside of the container with his apron and handed it back to me. I found this extremely concerning in terms of food safety and hygiene. Didn't acknowledge my request and did not greet me or make eye contact. I want to acknowledge that I understand it was a busy time, and I didn't mind waiting. I can't imagine how stressful it must be working in a fast-paced food court environment. However, below-par food handling practices are not acceptable under any circumstances. Another female employee saw what happened and smirked, making the situation feel even more dismissive. I had to escalate to a manager to receive a properly handled replacement, as staff ignored my initial request. She did not offer to help either. Due to the lack of proper response and the handling I witnessed, I am seriously considering reporting this incident to Toronto Public Health. I believe all customers deserve safe, clean service--especially when it comes to food. I hope this matter is addressed with Costco's @ Islington food court team and that food safety procedures are reinforced.

On sale today. So good !

Stopped in today for a roast chicken and a couple of other food items. Large Self Checkout area thankfully. The concrete work is nice, you can hear the squeaky sound of shoes everywhere. The parking is rammed on exterior area, lots of spots underground. They have a wider selection of food items than the Queensway store. And they don't have those silly plexiglass anti Covid barriers at the cash area. Will probably make this one my primary Costco, but the roads in and out are poorly designed. Be prepared for driver frustration big time.

!!!Telling the Truth keep's removing my post so people don't see act a certain way trying to hide…read moreit, just took advantage of everything I did literally. I Set up there Ottawa location for the company Toronto management very Toxic they give opportunity based off Prejudice personal views first not professional, they talk trash about staff/customer base, other religions, staff members wife's cause of their views no basic respect or gratitude for the business they get, zero safety standard banged my foot there saying don't do "incident reports" they operate a lift u need a license for not having one, will belittle you an take advantage of everything you do giving opportunity or training to people based off prejudice views first and they end up leaving the company its unprofessional joke, just taking advantage of the government kick back on wages by hiring certain people and screwing everyone else. Worked at there Ottawa location for 3 years took over there sales floor changed 90% of it setting up there store for the company, covered an fixed everything all pricing/items not in the system, merchandising issues made that store function for the longest time. Was kept on the side the whole time even when they did the initial change of chemicals I was already doing everything at that point an the Toronto management did the walk with the manager and a buddy of the company who was hired for only a few weeks to help them out, I was working that day ended taking over a day later having to call Toronto management cause the manager told me to call them after that I did the rest of the store pretty much doing everything covering the whole floor, a lot of customer service and all the trucks I unloaded Ambient/freezer even transfers or store maintenance you name it I covered and fixed it all. Having to bud in all the time to help them out for the store to function, I had ask for all my raises and promotion they gave me floor supervisor and found out somebody already had it who knew the owner. I worked 2x to 3x harder compared to everyone else to get that position it was fake found out they would make fun of fact he had that position probably me too when they gave it to me. The floor supervisor position got no training or opportunity in the company got to a point where I called Toronto management to see if I had a actually future in the company, was intentionally verbally attacked with the most ignorant distain and disrespect you could imagine, mocking my position bringing up how that staff member already had the position and it meant nothing just trying to trigger me so he could fire me knowing they brought in others and could take advantage of everything I did instead of getting me involved like I earned and having me there a fair amount of time a week 6/7 days so I could do things properly not being on overdrive for them all the time too keep the store going and being takin advantage of. Immediately after that Toronto management put staff in departments to push me out brought in staff from Toronto also, when he brought in the first one they walked in an I was walking out to do something he starred me down with the most pathetic look you could imagine like you're screwed looking at a angle so the new staff couldn't see, even after all that I still finished the rest of the theme/setups I had planned and helped the new Manager fix all the main inventory problems that were in the system he was forced into the situation I don't blame him. Made multiple HR complaints all got ignore they just condone what the management does and protects them, no safety standard either company is very bias there's no earning you way.

I shopped a lot of items. A helper asked for money to load my items. He spoke in hindi. I complaint…read moreto the company and they are very slow in helping me. I am never coming back here.

This totally gave me an uncomfortable feeling right off the bat. The place itself looks like an ugly dirty basement turned into a store. This place has trendy merchandise for ladies for low prices. They have everything from basics, tee's, tunics, dresses, vests, jackets, shoes, lingerie etc. The quality of the items are hit or miss. The store has a couple of rules- you are only allowed to try on 5 clothing items 'a day' in their changing room. If you have any more, you have to come another day to try them on- what?! Also, their method of payment is cash only. The staff constantly watches you while you browse and don't seem too friendly unless you look like you're going to purchase something. To my surprise, I ended up picking out a few things- two summer tunics and a cardigan; a total of $30. The tunics lasted one season before they fell apart. The cardigan however is still vibrant and intact. In the end, I would not recommend Star Fashion because it's an uncomfortable place to shop, most of their merchandise lack quality, and you may have your face plastered on the front door with 'wanted' written over it for trying on more than 5 items in their changing room that day.

I saw Allison's review of this place, and looking at the photos they seem to have a large selection, so I thought I would give this place a try. We were able to get a bowl big enough for Pho, and this place has a fair amount of dinnerware, but not as vast as expected. They do have a nice selection of different kitchen/small household appliances with reasonable prices. They have dinnerware items of different themes, cutting boards, tons of chopsticks, and so much more. They have a large warehouse at the back for businesses/restaurants I suppose, but this store is definitely open to the public. Since they have the biggest selection of chopsticks, I would get chopsticks here next time. Review 99 of 100

MC Mart is well known for selling inexpensive Asian name brands rice cookers and thermo water…read moreboilers. I heard about MC Mart from an old Chinese couple who heard about it from another in a senior activities center. So yeah, it is a word of mouth place. MC Mart is located on Passmore, east of Kennedy, where there is absolutely no reason for a retail store to exist. The store is no frills. The sign says it is a wholesaler, which it is, but it also sells to walk-in retail customers. Upon entrance, it is a mess of junks that attract no one. The goodies are in the big warehouse in the back. There you shop for all the well known Japanese, Korean and Chinese name brands rice cookers and hot water thermo boiler. The list prices are artificial, as there is a perpetual 20% discount. Last I shopped a few years ago, the prices were either the same or 5% cheap than the prices anywhere in Scarborough, Markham and Richmond Hills areas. Other than electronics, there are arrays of kitchenware, flatware, and dinnerware. They supply Asian restaurants, so there are shelves of woks, special uses pots, pans and containers, cutting boards, streamers, kitchen scissors, you name it. I don't see name brands for these, but I do see accessories and equipment for Chinese cooking that are seldom sold in grocery stores and other general merchandise stores. There are household cleaning and laundry supplies as well. The mess I can deal with, and there is a logic behind the maze. I am however disappointed that the selection of dinnerware is not good. Where do I go uptown to find nice dinnerware for Chinese food? Maybe this is why I have to travel to Tap Phong still. This is no Tap Phong, but it might be as good as it gets in North Toronto for retail customers.
