It was my first time trying Costco's poutine. I came at 12:30pm on a weekday and there was a long line to get food. Unlike Cali, you can't purchase hot food items at the register along with your other Costco purchases. It took about 20 minutes to get my order. I really liked the crispness of the fries. I find Costco's reputation to be overrated in general, but there are times when it pays you back for that paid membership. The main caveat when shopping here is that you need to know your price points. No matter what time of day, or day of the week you come here, it's a zoo. You'll need to be in physical condition to handle the jostling, and cart wrenching, around other shoppers, and some tight spaces and corners. I don't find food to be competitively priced for the most part. Again, you need to be familiar with price points for the name brands they carry. I can find Kraft peanut butter on sale at No Frills or the like for one regular sized container at a better per unit cost than the 2x2kg packages you have to buy at Costco. I find things like cleaning supplies and clothing to be better deals. They distribute a monthly flyer in my neighbourhood, so I can browse before deciding it's worth the trip. When it comes to seasonal items like lawn furniture, be prepared to snap up a good deal when you see it, because those tend to be one of shipments that don't get replenished. Same with some occasional specials like appliances. If you enjoy a fast food snack like at IKEA, they do have pizza slices, hot dogs, fries, and drinks for very cheap prices. I rarely can stand to stay one moment longer than I have to, so I can't speak to how they taste. My husband absolutely refuses to set foot in there on principle. His motto is, They should be applying for a membership with me for my business. Having said that, he wasn't above having me get a gift for myself there when it came to saving $500 on a Kenwood stand mixer. A deal is a deal! You just need to recognize them, as opposed to blindly believing that everything there is a good buy. read more

So I'm back at Costco this time with the purpose of buying gifts to bring back to my relatives in China. Best gifts are consumables given they can get everything else in China cheaper. I went straight for nuts as that's what my mom suggested since they aren't into junk food but like nuts. I also got a pack of Elizabeth Arden ceramide capsules for my cousins. I saw this Asian guy there load a huge cart full of Elizabeth Arden capsules and also other vitamins and I could tell he's not buying for himself but probably buying for friends and family. So I asked him if he's shopping for others and he says he is, he buys for customers in Hong Kong and these items are already pre-purchased. So given his experience I asked what he recommends for gifts for family in China and he did solidify the Elizabeth Arden Capsules are popular, so are vitamins, beef jerky and other things. For treats he says the number 1 snack that's popular to send to HK was the chocolate covered pistachios. It's more unique since it's not available in HK. Plus it's also labeled as Made in Canada, so if you're looking to gift Canadian treats, this is an idea, they are $16.99 for a 500g bag. He confirms that my mixed nuts is not a bad idea, Costco version is probably better quality than that found in China though the chocolate covered pistachios are probably a bit more unique for gifting. I was gonna switch to that as it's almost the same price as my mixed nuts but my mom says that my fam doesn't like chocolate so I stuck to nuts. If you're looking for gifting ideas to send home to relatives in other who don't have a Costco, maybe try these gifting ideas. While I'm there of course I picked other stuff like this pineapple in coconut water that people are loving on social media, detergent and dishwasher tabs among other things. I think they increased the price of their dish washer tabs by $5 though. I remember it being $10 when I got it a year when I bought last it's $15... but the packaging looks different so hopefully it's new and improved? read more

We came here on a Saturday morning! It was crowded, but wasn't bad. I don't think I have ever been to a Costco on a Saturday morning and it was anything but crowded! Worst customer service, very disorganized warehouse. I wanted to see about getting a repair done to my rear passenger tire and no one at the Tire centre would even acknowledge me. Like any other Costco Warehouse, it has ample parking spots available in front the warehouse and it's a one-stop-shop for all your groceries, home accessories, and gardening. Great variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, meat and seafood, dairy products, deli, etc. You just need to choose the time of your visit wisely as it's busier during afternoons/evenings and you need to stay in lineup for checkout or you'd have trouble finding parking spot. read more

I ended up leaving empty handed at 9pm - 30 mins after they closed. they took their time chatting with people about everything and anything knowing theres more people waiting to be helped by them. theres another young indian guy who was only helping indian people. it took him 1 hour to talk to rogers about a ladys phone number,unrelated to the sale. they are incompetent, they do not want to sell. awful awful experience that I would never step foot on Vaughan warehouse because of them. What's not to like about Costco? Buy in bulk and you'll save money. Plus there's always new deals and products that'll keep you coming back again and again. It was quite busy mid-morning on a Monday afternoon in the summer. The parking lot was starting to fill up and once you're inside there were customers everywhere with carts. Luckily we only came for one item. We got it and went to find the shortest line possible. Talk about a busy Costco, but let's be honest which Costco is not busy? This is a nice location, they have gas and some enclosed corridors to avoid the cold to get to the entrance. The parking lot is nuts, no matter when I go the parking lot is crowded but I always manage to find a spot somewhere fairly close with some patiences. There is a large variety of items and I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of winter items they had. It was nice I was able to buy two scarfs and then a large pack of hand warmers. They had a good selection of jackets as well. There were some interesting finds here like a whole Lamb in the freezer section, but for the most part there was your standard Costco items. Always great deals and I was able to get some good finds. The check out lines are also crazy but the lines seem to move fast, so that was good. However, the return line here is the CRAZIEST I've seen, every time I went the line was wrapped around, it would have been out the door but everyone was too cold to wait out the door. They also had chicken tenders with fries in the food court. Of course there was also poutine. One thing to note was unlike the US they only accept Mastercard vs Visa but they do have tap to pay! read more

Always been curious about Costco ice cream. I went for the popular vanilla and chocolate swirl. First impression portion size is huge (as the rest of the portion sizes at Costco). However taste wise - I didn't think it was that great. Didn't taste horrible but I feel like the flavour was faded. I think ice cream trucks and McDonald's ice cream cones taste a lot better. The employees of this specific location are pretty rude. i paid for my groceries, and accidentally one box of strawberries fell out of the cart. I was told to pick them up (whatever went on the dirty floor) as according to the Costco employee "there is nothing wrong with the berries". I did not ask to replace the box, I just them to help cleaning so customers do not slip on them. when I said that I do not eat from the floor, the employee expressed so much attitude that I have 0 desire to come back to this location. read more

This location's parking situation is better than other ones, but you can never have enough parking space for Costco! You can never go wrong with good deals at Costco. This location always has some cool stuff and it's always filled with good customer service staff that are ready and happy to help. They have way more live food/cooking stations than other locations, and it's always busy but very well organized and well kept, you can notice that with the numerous staff members walking around and making sure everything is in place. read more

Tudy and company at customer service know nothing about customer service. I was the only one waiting. Tudy decided to not come up to the des to help me but instead yell from far away. I asked if she could come to the desk so I wouldn't have to yell + masks. She said no and if I wanted to be served I could yell. Her body wasn't even facing me! She wanted to walk away. Do not buy fresh trout fish from Costco I have been a Costco customer for years. And I always loved all products from it. However, I recently bought a fresh trout fillet from Costco Woodbridge location. We cooked it on the same day. An hour after having the fish, one of my friends started vomiting and getting very sick. When we packed the rest of the fish to freeze it, we found A LIVE WHITE LONG WORM in it. We froze the fish and brought back to Costco later. When I was there, I was sent to the office to talk to the manager. But, the lady who talked to me told first me that it's VERY NORMAL for the fresh fish to have worms. She told me to go search online, it's very where. Then I asked how about someone got sick from eating it. She said she would throw up too if she saw a worm in her food. I said we cooked the fish, ate it, got sick then found a worm while packing the rest of the fish to bring it back. The manager finally showed up and got me fill out an incident report. And that's all!!! I get that it could happen that we find a worm in a piece of fresh fish. But should it be an answer from the store to a customer? That it's very normal? Then I should go online researching instead of talking to the store?! I would never buy anything "fresh" from that store ever again. That's disgusting!!!! read more

Went to Costco yesterday at Woodbridge, Ont to return an item, lineup was very long and moving extremely slow. Noticed 2 women talking constantly , thought it was too much socializing.Went upto desk, told them to move it, lineup was very long. I get to front desk but these 2 particular women ignores me, just standing around,not doing anything. Had to wait until another lady called me. Went to office to file complaint. Elderly woman asked me to describe them. She asked me if one had blond hair, that she knew who it was. I said no, they both had black hair and one had on black sweater and other lady in white top. I mainly come here for the fries and hotdog. You can't really go wrong with a hotdog + drink for $1.50. You do need a membership if you want to buy stuff here. This location can get quite busy during weekends so I tend to come on a weekday afternoon. The prices are decent, it can be on the pricier side as you're getting things in bulk. I prefer this Costco location over the Markham one but I don't come here as often because it's easier to go to Walmart to get your groceries. read more

Not much has changed in terms of information about Costco's location and its overall business. I am pleased to share that I have gone in person to deal with the mishap and it came to my attention that although there were many miscommunications, a full refund was made to my account back in August when the mistake was made. It turns out they had no recollection or proof of any double charge because it was made erroneously and then quickly refunded. I can't say it wasn't annoying to have to run around and call and go to my bank etc. But i am so happy to see that they did what was correct. I added a star because I couldn't make it a 3.5... pretty great location, with excellent staff, and lots of inventory, I often find myself coming to this location on my lunch, to pick up a "one or two" item, or a treat for myself. great parking, very clean even by Costco's standards. my only knock is against the drivers in the parking lot, for some reason they tend to whip in and out of spots, or the lot in general, which you have to keep an eye out for. otherwise a great location, often I find that there is a lot of "Italian focused" foods at this location, that you can't get at other locations. read more

Horrendous. I got carded at the front entrance, Showed my card, then got asked yet again by someone else and I told them that I already showed my card. Then ANOTHER girl chased me half way across the store to demand that I show my card AGAIN. My response was to stand infront of her with my card in my hand and repeat over and over again if I needed to show my card again... I'm not renewing my card. Lately, I had a great experience with Kes, one of the managers at Vaughan Costco. His management skills and customer service is remarkable. Long story short, he made a prompt and fit decision, taking full responsibility for the issues that I brought to his attention. It was a great judgement call on his part, and I really appreciate what he did for me. I can't thank Kes enough, but he represents Costco amazingly well. read more

There was a Modern Family episode a few years back which summed up Costco perfectly. One of the characters stated "It's big, it's loud and I dare you not to like it". Whomever is their purchaser should be awarded a badge of merit for always finding items that we can't seem to live without. I don't know how many times I've gone into this store and seen an item and thought to myself "How have I gotten through the day without having THIS?" This is THE place to buy books....much cheaper than Chapters/Indigo. Meat department is fantastic (we hired a chef to cater a dinner one night (through Deal of the Day..so it was not expensive at all) and he recommended Costco for meats stating the quality cannot be beat). Gas prices defy logic...how do they keep their prices at least $.05 cheaper than the competition? And who doesn't love starting their Christmas shopping in August? Their seasonal Garden Centre cannot be beat for prices. Staff are very friendly and seem to like working there. Their banter throughout the store is a welcome relief to the robotic service some stores have. One minor complaint and that is that it is always busy and finding parking can be an issue. Once inside it can be a little roller derby-ish as you try to maneuver through the aisles. Cashier lines move quickly inside although backlogs can occur as you're trying to exit the building. Their no questions asked return policy is fantastic (I had a friend return market umbrellas purchased years earlier that were damaged by a windstorm and they took them back!) Oh...as an additional incentive, if you get their AMEX...you get 2% back on most purchases at the end of the year (including gas purchases). Last year my refund paid for my membership plus some. read more

Costco is that place I love to hate. The parking lot of the Vaughan location should be enough to make me never want to come back, and yet most weekends you will find me here. The customers are probably the worst thing about Costco as I have always had stellar service here, from returns to purchases and everything in between. The prices aren't always better if you really know your prices and shop around. There are rarely sales, but there are good promotions; mostly on the weekends. There are many products here that you just can't find anywhere else and so I keep coming back. Clothing is a hit and miss, but if you see something you think you might like... Buy it right away as it won't be there when you get back. I find the food fresh and replenished often. Have not had any bad experiences with the food. read more

This Costco location is truly one of my favorites. It is very conveniently located right next to Cineplex and is close to the outlet stores. I love how everything is neatly organized and that it always has everything I need in stock. I do wish they had more samples however to be fair I do come in the evenings at which point they may be done. The parking lot is huge and the bathrooms are clean. Overall, I always have a great experience when I come here and end up spending more than I intend to! read more

This review is for the Costco Optical department. When I called to make an appointment, I specifically asked if I could get my pupillary distance result after my eye exam. The person on the phone said yes. I go in and get my eye exam, and I ask to get my pupillary distance, and the optometrist declined, saying that they don't give that information out. Optometrists always have this information when they conduct an eye exam; however, this optometrist refused to give it to me even though I was told over the phone when I booked my appointment that I could get my Pupillary Distance measurement. I was cheated out of $75. I should have walked out, and not paid. I don't recommend this Costco Optical Department to anyone. This is flat out stealing when you say you're going to provide something as a service, and then you don't provide it. read more

Came in to change my winter tires, and found out when I got home that the rear dashcam (that was working before I came in) is no longer functioning. This is probably due to the employee who loaded the replaced tires into the trunk.The employee did not even have the integrity to tell me that the wire was broken and the rear cam is no longer functioning. I called the manager as soon as I found out, and I was told that I would get a call back the next day from the tire manager, which never happened. The same manager said that I should've informed the tire employee that there is a dash cam in the rear and tried to impart fault on my end. But that is like saying you should not take the money from my glove compartment because there is money in there. It is common sense that employees should practice care when dealing with other people's vehicles. Further, the manager said that "I was making assumptions," and that there is no sure way to say that Costco is responsible. And I do acknowledge what he said. But is it really coincidental that my camera, which was perfectly functional when I gave Costco my car keys, somehow unplugged itself, broke its own wire casing, to where the prong on the wire no longer fits in the camera socket? Probably not. And I understand that we are all human and make mistakes and I am not disappointed in that. But, at least have some character to tell me that the rear cam is no longer working, instead of me having to keep calling back just to be put on hold. It has been two days now, and I was told today that I should receive a call tomorrow, which I doubt will happen. Just some advice for other people getting their tires changed to make sure nothing is damaged before you leave the tire center. read more

Lineup for the gas is long but not as long as the Warden Ellesmere branch. At 1pm it is 6 cars long. Standard lineup. Took me about 15 minutes to get my turn. Was looking for cereal, approached some sample stalls. There were pizza, juice, hummus, sausage and pita, cinnamon toast, pickles, coleslaw, chicken fingers, salad and salad dressing for sampling. Good free meal. The big sale was the bottled water from Kirkland signatures. Every shopping cart had at least 1-2 cases of 40 pack at 2.44 each. Another shopper said the Richmond Hill location was sold out. At the time I was there at Vaughan, I would say 2 pallets left, so go quick if you need cheap water. read more
