Afterwards, I typically pop by Dollar Tree to browse and shop. I was in the area the other day and decided to drop by. I prefer Dollar Tree to Dollarama. I like the selection and everything is $1.25. At the latter, there are items that even go for $4.25. What's the point of being a dollar store if you are paying dollars for a single item? I suppose that we can blame our Canadian dollar competing with the American one when it comes to Dollarama pricing. Anyway, this Dollar Tree is the only one in Markham. I love the selection of items, from sardines, to dumplings and chicken in cans. I also love the noodle section. The seasonal section is awesome. Easter is nearly here. You can get scented Easter bunny plush toys and a ton of chocolate items. Nice! Staff are friendly. I managed to witness two staff members training a new one. They were much younger than the new hire, but were incredibly supportive of her progress. I still miss the awesomeness of Dollar Tree in the States. Perhaps one day, the frozen food section will magically appear in Canadian stores. In the meantime, I am pleased to get decent items that are cheap and of good quality here. (132)

This car charger that plugs into any car's cigarette lighter had served me well. Devices charge faster using a car charger than simply plugging it into an available USB A or C port in the vehicle. I was at Heartland Centre the following day and noticed this Dollarama. I wondered if it had a replacement car charger for me. This store is in a plaza across from a trifecta building with Starbucks, Copper Branch, and Edo Japan. Best Buy and Jysk anchor this section of Heartland. I had no problem finding a parking spot. I pulled into an available one and walked into the store. Kitchen utensils greeted me. It was so deadly. I wanted everything from a garlic press to training chopsticks. I already know how to use chopsticks, but the training ones were so cute and functional! It took little time for me to find the phone accessories aisle. This store had two car chargers. One had two USB A ports. The other one had one USB A port and one USB C port. Perfect! I liked an avocado cover for your laptop's camera. I didn't need one. If I did, this one would have been mine. I also found Lysol toilet bowl cleaner with hydrogen peroxide. I had never tried it before, so I picked up a bottle. This store didn't have any human cashiers. I had to use one of the self-checkout kiosks. The one that I used worked well. I scanned my two items and then paid with a credit card. Done! My car charger works nicely. I'm so glad that I got a replacement one here. The Lysol toilet bowl cleaner with hydrogen peroxide worked nicely. I was impressed! I had a terrific experience here. There was plenty of parking in front of the store. I parked my car and entered. There were Christmas items for sale in August. I'm no longer shocked. I simply ignore them. When I'm still wearing shorts and a t-shirt, I am not in holly, jolly Christmas shopping mode. I live in the candy section. I spent perhaps more time than I should have in this aisle. I was pleased to see some sugar-free items. In the past, you rarely saw any. It's a good step. Instead, I saw the Hershey's dessert bars and got one of each flavour. Too bad they don't come in sugar-free versions. The sacrifices that I make... lol I love the snacks here. From Harvest Snaps, to lots of beef jerky, this store caters to my snacking needs. The gardening section is great. You can get everything from potting soil to flower pots. Excellent! I went to pay for my chocolate bars. I got a nice man at the checkout. I paid with a debit card. I tapped. Easy peasy. I thanked him, grabbed my chocolate bars, and headed to my car. I'm so glad that I finally visited this Dollarama. I dig it. Since it's still relatively new, some aisles aren't full especially the kids toy and stationery aisle. But while I was there, there are staff at different aisles unboxing and shelving. Store is generally clean and organized. Selection pretty standard and I haven't found anything that's super nice like brand name stuff yet; hopefully it'll get better. I like that this store has self check out. Quick and easy and limited contact with other people.

I often hit this store and Staples next door. The variety of merchandise at this store is perfect for my needs. Lots of women's size 11 shoes? Yes. Kipling handbags? Definitely. Cool phone accessories? Yes, and then some. Gourmet snacks? Let's go! I love the staff here. I recently picked up a huge can of dry shampoo. A female staff member noticed and we talked about how her daughter swears by Batiste. I said that her daughter is one smart cookie. There is a small town feel and rapport that I love at this store. Everyone working here is so nice and helpful. You feel good dropping by. There is plenty of parking. I can enjoy shopping here at a leisurely pace. I am relaxed and enjoy each shopping experience at this Winners. The phone accessories section is amazing. I always find something new and the prices are fantastic. Sadly, even though the store is bigger, it still lacked a lot of the popular items as I guess the items are sold out just as quick which means there is a lot of traffic but still have a good amount of variety. I don't remember seeing self checkouts there. Perhaps it is not needed but I feel they need to add it to make the checkout faster and also not having to wait for a staff to show up to check people out. This Dollarama is conveniently located in a plaza with lots of restaurants and even a Service Ontario, and even a No Frills, at next door plaza which means can kill a few birds with one stone when needing to run many errands :) The parking lot is huge and there is sufficient parking. This plaza has my local ServiceOntario, where I have posed for my driver's licence mugshot over the years. This plaza also has a Dollarama that has been here for as long as I can remember. I decided to pay it a visit last Wednesday evening. On Thursday, my department had a virtual lunch. It was my suggestion to hijack our regular weekly meeting to ban chatting about work and have lunch with the team virtually. I managed to convince my colleagues to order takeout. It worked! Being on video (I'm not a fan in general, but I'm okay sacrificing my face for lunch and chatting about non-work-related stuff for an hour), I felt that I needed a Santa hat to get into the festive spirit. I knew that I could rely on Dollarama for my needs. It did not fail. Let's talk about parking. There are lots of parking spots in this plaza. Some of them are extremely roomy, like the one that I was parked at. I swung my driver's side door wide open and had another foot between my door and the car next to me. Yay! Dollar stores are deemed essential during this pandemic and remain open. The prime reason is that they offer food and drinks. Naturally, there were a number of customers shopping when I was there. I immediately looked for the Christmas section. I found it easily! There were lots of Santa hats to choose from. There was the traditional one that I ultimately got. One had two white braids going down either side. Another had antlers. I loved the elf hat with huge ears. The problem is that it didn't accommodate my huge head. Luckily, the traditional one did for a whopping $1.25. The aisles are long in this store. They stretch from where the cashout area is at the front to the very back before you hit the employee area. So, everyone seemed to ignore the arrows on the floor in each aisle. If you were at at aisle where you saw an item, but it meant walking down another aisle and back up to take a closer look at it, most chose to ignore what you should do in favour of convenience. This store is a fascinating place to observe how humans behave. If I didn't have errands to run, I would have found a chair and watched people for a good half an hour. Between Dollarama and Dollar Tree, I like the latter more before everything is the same price. Dollarama varies its prices based on the type of item. So, is it truly a dollar store by definition? Maybe it should change its name to Dollars-rama instead. I do enjoy getting candy here. I got two white chocolate KitKat bars and they were delicious and cheap. The snacks section is pretty impressive. This store has garlic naan, which I don't often see at Dollarama. Perhaps this area has more South Asian folks that this store is being accommodative. It's cool. I lined up to pay for my items. There were two cashiers working that evening. The woman behind me was standing way too close to me. My staring at her and the marker on the floor did not do a thing. She was oblivious, as was the woman behind her standing inches away. It's not an issue with the store, but with people who don't get it. Anyway, I got a nice male cashier who helped get me on my way. My items cost me $6.66. I joked that perhaps I should get another item. He laughed. I used my debit card and all was great. I didn't need a bag and wished him a good evening as I headed to my car. It's a decent Dollarama. Other than folks not physically distancing as well as they should in the store, I'd return because the selection is perfect for my needs. (448)

Large, roomy, and well lit - this is a fantastic Dollarama to move around in. And since they started carrying graphic novels, it scratches that literary itch too!
