I have been a Costco member since 5/1993. I'm an executive member too! I decided to purchase my 1st new set of tires from the Costco on Cole Road Boise Idaho. Costco has a good warranty policy and I like Michelin tires that they sell. The tire department at this location has broken 3 lug nuts in two tire rotations. I talked to the manager of the tire department to let him know of my concerns and asked him what's going on in his department. He gave me the excuse that my car maker has problems with lugs breaking. I explained to him that I have had the old tires rotated for 65,000 miles on a regular basis at the dealership and never had a problem with lug nuts being broken. I told the manager that this is a poor excuse coming from a manger of a department and try a different excuse. He finally admitted that he has a lot of new people in his department and is trying to train them as fast as he can. Next I went to second manager in charge of this store due to the head manager being too busy to talk to me as a concerned customer. I explained to the second in charge manager my concerns and disappointment with the lack of leadership in the tire department and what had happened to me with the broken lugs. I also explained that his current manager in the tire shop is the wrong person to lead that department! I also explained to him the amount of time it has wasted me having to take my car to the dealership every time to get the broken lugs fixed. Also that I have no confidence in having my tires rotated at this location anymore! He did say he was sorry for the inconvenience from this issue and they are looking into adding another manager to oversee the tire department to hopefully improve the quality of service. I would absolutely not recommend getting your tires at this store location! I feel the management team at this location needs improvement from top to bottom! read more

The tire center at the Boise store needs improvement. Yesterday I took my wife's car in to have her all weather tires swapped out with her winter tires. They were supposed to text me when it was completed. I waited and waited and waited some more. I finally went back to the counter when a guy next to me having the same thing done to his car said his car was finished, even though his appointment was an hour after mine. His was done within 45 minutes and I was still waiting after an hour and 45 minutes. It took another 10 minutes in line to find out my car had been done for some time and that I "should" have been sent a text. They tried to blame it on a computer glitch. But on only one customer? It is far more likely user error on the part of the Costco employee. A subsequent conversation with a manager did nothing more than produce a luke warm "we're sorry." I paid $50 to have the tires transferred and rotated. Possibly some type of discount might have been in order? To add insult to injury, the tire pressure monitor light went on this morning, requiring a trip back to Costco. We live in the hills outside Boise so a Costco trip is over 1/2 hour each way. At least they addressed the issue quickly. But, another Costco mistake wasted another hour and fifteen minutes of our time and another 60 miles on the car. Come on, Costco. Their hearing aid center at Cole in Boise is lacking. Takes forever to get an appointment. I paid more money for the Phillips brand and they are not worth it. I've had to return multiple times as the settings are wrong on the hearing aids. read more

Costco Optical in Nampa,ID. The website says they accept most insurance now. That is not true, the eye doctor does NOT accept insurance except one I have never heard off. The girl checking everyone in should not be in any customer service role. I tried to ask about insurance, she cut me off and said that's Costco not us, maybe for the glasses they will take it. She is also rude to people coming in to pick up contact lenses. Unbelievable! I guess everyone has trouble hiring decent people. It's too bad. read more

The tire center is run by incompetent people at the Cole Rd location. I brought in my car with a tire that was slowly losing pressure. I bought my tires at Costco, so I came in for my free tire repair. They told me there was nothing wrong with my tire and, only after I pressed further, they said they replaced the valve stem and sent me on my way telling me that they can replace the tire if it keeps losing pressure. Well, it kept on losing pressure. I went to Discount Tire two days later and they found a nail and repaired my tire for free!! Next time I'm buying my tires at Discount Tire. I do not recommend ever buying tires at Costco. Seems that they blatantly lie just to get people to buy new tires prematurely. read more

This location has, by far, the worst customer service and management that I ever seen in almost 35 years of membership and several Costco's throughout the country. I contacted the store after getting horrible service from one of the employees. I initially spoke with an "Angela" (she refused to give her last name, great accountability) and relayed how I been treated by the employee and when she returned my call she was extraordinarily dismissive and rude. I called corporate and the next day received a call from a "cliff", who also refused to give his full name, and he was even worst!!! Costco is slipping massively, I've been a member for 15 years or so? Went to the original Costco in Kirkland for polish dogs all the time. This new check in policy is dumb, it's one more thing that will slow an already slow shopping process, I don't even go on weekends anymore as it's far too busy. Employees response to my complaint was condescending, managers response was decent, but didn't really address my concerns. They are constantly out of chickens. Can't enter the exit side to head to the food court anymore, so we have to go in the entrance, around the checkout and slip past someone who is checking out to get there. I ordered a pizza over the phone this last Friday at 4:50 pm and was told it would be ready at 6:45 pm. Gas prices are identical to the Walmart down the street. Kind of unusual to stop in at a Costco while visiting from out of state but I tend to do so when I need something for home that I can take back in my luggage. Pretty busy for being a non holiday and during the week but surprisingly in and out in a matter of minutes! Love this location and is our go to location. We used to live in California and the experience here is nothing like back home. First the crowds and lines are nothing what we are used to. Plus the parking lot is huge and always easy to find a spot. Once inside it's a typical Costco, but one key thing is the service. The employees here at this location are so incredibly friendly. Plus while having all the perks of a Costco it has gas and a car wash. Both of which are never very crowded and easy to get in and out of. read more

Costco regardless of the shock value when you see your total, is worth it for me. I am fine tuning and getting better at not browsing through the store and focusing on the items I need to purchase. This Costco had a car wash which is not something I have ever seen. The gentleman at the tire shop was great. I found out the Costco cash back check has no expiration date. On Tues 11/1/2022 at around 8PM, Costco food worker placed my slice of pizza on the counter, turned to his right and sneezed into his arm. He had his mask pulled down. It only took 3 days to get my two pairs of glasses! I was impressed with the fact that Costco stationed Savanna in the customer waiting area to assist with the app they now have that replaced the 'take a number' system. Then I was fitted by Hadassah who was very pleasant and knowledgeable. So from the eye exam right through to my fine tuning, I was treated with efficiency and good dispositions. Costco is Costco and there's probably not much for me to add that others haven't already added before BUT here's a couple of tips 1. Go as close to closing as possible. 6~7pm in the evening 2. If there's something you want to purchase, just buy it, in all likelihood it will be gone before your next trip 3. Don't get to cozy where your fav items are located as Costco moves them all the time 4. The Bagels while a good deal will most likely go uneaten rather than eaten 5. Skip the car wash but do get gas 6. Costcos outside of Idaho are AWESOME since you can purchase liquor and regional items 7. Went to the Boise store on the 30th and surprising shocked! Parking was easier then ever and the entrance was run like a well oiled machine. Most teams in stock except for the ones you Hoarders will not allow the rest of us to buy! You know who you are!! Costco Optical department is the best!! Both my husband and I had issues with our glass purchased from another Costco in the Treasure Valley and Joyce and Tasha were able to solve all our problems. Seriously? Who needs to write a review about Costco? What's not to love between the random things you didn't know you needed in your life and the vast quantities of food you will come home with? Costco is the place where you go in for one item and you leave with $650 missing from your bank account and an opportunity to explain to your wife how that in the process of buying a pressure washer will save money if you start washing your car at home. It makes perfect sense to you, and the sale was amazing. Regardless, that doesn't quite convey to you the loyalty this kind of company brings. My 800 sq ft. apartment has a dyson vacuum, tabletop ice maker, an inversion table, two exercise bicycles, and an 83" tv, and an amazing set of wind chimes, all of which I purchased at Costco. All of their food is top quality, they rotate products constantly, they offer gas at the most affordable rate in town. They offer amazingly competitive wages to their employees and benefits that have most of the people working there for well over 10+ years. Plus the CEO of the company has never increased the costs in the food court for a hot dog meal combo because the company wants anyone to be able to walk in and have an affordable meal for $1.50. All of this for a $60 annual membership. I pay $120 for a business account, and I get a percentages of my purchases back at the end of the year as a rebate. That rebate pays for my membership every year. So when Yelp asked me, "do you recommend Costco" the answer is, yes. read more

Ok I'll make this short, I kinda promise lol. I rarely go here because it's 20+mins from my house. I live in NW Boise, this shit is in south Boise. So yeah, I rarely go. I'd probably go more if we had more locations and if I had a big ass family to feed lol. Costco on Oct 8th received 500 count of a 3 pack Cabbage Patch Dolls for $19.99. As a kid, my mom went CRAZY for them....back in the 80s. She camped out for them, like so many did when they were originally released. That year, we woke up Christmas morning to THIRTY of them, displayed, sitting on the couch. We still have almost all of them. I had a boy, Marshall, a girl named, Julia, and I eventually got a preemie, but I can't remember his name lol. I'm pretty sure my parents knew at that moment that I was.....not a straight kid hahahaha! So when I read an article the other day that Costco has this set of 3 for that price, I sent her the article and she asked me to look for them in the Boise store while my brother and sister will look for them in the Rochester NY and Syracuse NY stores. Boise was sold out in a week. Nampa/Caldwell...same deal. However those stores got 250 units vs Boise's 500. Anyway, I went and asked a lady if they were in stock, super nice lady and she said they sold out super fast, but to go up front and talk to a person wearing a red vest and they can tell me if they'll be getting them back in before Christmas. I went up to a CUSTOMER SERVICE representative, a red vest supervisor named, Austin. His customer service skills are the F'N WORST! He had ZERO interest in helping me. I told him I was looking for them and was that I was told to look for a red vest person. Me: I'm looking for this and that and wondering this and that (giving you the short version lol) Austin: ok? And what? They're sold out, I told you that. Me: umm ok, no you did not. Are you gonna get them back in? Austin: no Me: can u check because lady in clothing said they may be back in before Christmas Austin: no. Is that all? Me: WOW! ok then! Seriously, the white wall behind him had a better personality and probably would have been a better customer service rep. The lady in clothing told me that they look it up on the computer for you to get the info. He literally pissed me OFF! He absolutely no desire to do his job and if I was AT ALL douchey, no lie, I would legit admit that to you guys. But I needed help and I was super friendly with him. I never have reason to be mean to customer service reps because I used to be one and I KNOW how important it is to be respectful. Even after he basically refused to help in any way...I was still nice. I just laughed, and said, wow! Ok then. I waited because I really wanted to find these for my mom, so I could get them for my 2 little nieces. I then went up to, Shad. INCREDIBLY! INCREDIBLY! nice person. I told him briefly how my interaction with Austin was....just bad. He didn't pay much attention to that and thats fine. He was so friendly. He actually shook my hand, he was so nice when telling me how fast they went and how surprised he was they went as fast as they did. He ACTUALLY LOOKED IT UP on the computer...just like nice lady in clothing said they would do and I didn't even have to ask him lol. He showed me the date that all the stores got them, how many units each store received...he was super helpful. He also said to probably not expect them to come back in. Then he joked about how the media is always late reporting things like that....how the stories (if they do one) always come out a week or 2 AFTER the product is gone hahaha! So I'm sad I couldn't help my mama out :( Amazon has them for $45 bucks. Those are just people looking to rip people off. The SHADE of it all haha! Shad, if by some incredibly random chance you see this, you're a good man. You know how to deal with the public and even if you get burned out with them, you still keep it professional and I cannot thank you enough ESPECIALLY since it was a f'n MAD! HOUSE! Overall, with the occasional exception, the workers at this store aren't helpful. Many are downright rude. Recently we encountered a woman being extremely abrasive, barking orders, and trying to intercept people coming in. She was double-checking masks and pushing you to take a cart from a certain row (no, it wasn't clean vs unclean carts, not sure what her rationale was.) She was causing a huge traffic jam and confusion on a busy Saturday. Got to interact with her again on the way out, taking an inordinate amount of time to double-check everything on the receipt, even though there were no big ticket items. The guy checking receipts across from her, by contrast, kept the line moving. The cashier who checked us out a couple of weeks ago was so engaged in a personal conversation with the woman boxing items that that she never acknowledged anyone checking out. She made a very frustrated hand gesture to get me to hold my Costco card the right way for her to scan it, but couldn't be bothered to greet me. The guy who answered the phone today in electronics was similarly unhelpful and unprofessional. Asked him to check one display in store to answer a simple questions about the version in store vs what was online. That was met with comments like, well, that will be a big challenge and I have no idea what they have online. It's simply a "I'd be happy assist with that" and one minute of effort. The guy acted so out put out by the request. Costco Corporate-can we please get a new manager at this location who takes customer service seriously?! I have a new one in a beautiful blue and red box at home waiting for activation that I received from work. I explained my situation to the cashier who reach out to her supervisor Joe. He came over and told me it was no longer active and proceeded to treat me like a criminal. If I could refund my 60 dollar membership, I would! Great place to shop. Clean restrooms. Huge parking spaces. Cheap and high quality gas. High quality food and products. Nice staff (and they get paid well so they enjoy their job and tend to stay for years). The best deals on food you can find (I once heard everything is marked up the same 14%). Just make sure it's something you really need and will use it all so you don't waste it. Use the membership to buy your next new car and pay just $500 over invoice price. Food court is fast and cheap too. Big Hot dog and soda with free refills for $1.50. read more

It was my first visit to this particular Costco today, and I'm going to assume they had a bad day (will review again after next visit). It was very crowded, which isn't a terrible problem, especially for a business, but it seemed like they did not have a good customer flow plan. This was complicated by the sample workers. Two in particular were really causing more traffic. Someone offering pieces of hamsteak was AFI any of preparing every last pies (about 20-25) before offering them up resulting in 10-15 people blocking the aisles. Similar story with the Kinder Bueno sample, and this guy was angry. It seemed like they were being taken faster than he could put them out and it was frustrating to him. But the clincher of the two-star rating was the young lady that attempted to instruct me on the right way to put a cart back. I had put it with the rest of the carts but not in the direction she approved of. The right way to do this, if you must, and you probably shouldn't, is to say, "I appreciate you bringing the cart back, bonus points if you turn them around", or possibility, "let me get that in put it in there for you". Either is a nice way of telling your customers you have a very specific way you like to store your carts but you appreciate their efforts. It wouldn't have been so bad if she wasn't so insistent. On the flip side, our cashier was very courteous, so I was willing to at least give the second star. read more

The Costco Wholesale in Boise is one of the busiest locations that we have visited. It doesn't matter what day or time we visit, there are always crowds. Some days and times are obviously busier than others. In the past year, they have added self check out stations. They're not managed well. Instead of one serpentine line (like Whole Foods) that directs the next shopper to the check out station, there are 2-3 lines. Those lines are hard to discern when it's crowded. At the food court, you have the option of using the self serve kiosk or order with the cashier. All of that being said, I'm a huge fan of Costco. They offer great products at a fair price. They stand behind their products and prices. Indeed, when an item went on sale they refunded the difference. We just had to take in the receipt (within 14days) to get a refund. Note, that they don't like you to return food unless there's something wrong with it. Fair enough. read more

Everyone who works at this Costco is so nice and helpful. I always have a positive experience. I have a been a customer and member for decades. For them to suddenly change policy and stop me at SELF CHECK OUT to ask for proof of membership is offensive. If they are so concerned that they are losing money from customers who are using their friend's or family members' cards because it is against policy, then why weren't they consistent with this policy at self checkout at the conception of bringing self checkout systems online. Costco as a whole makes BILLIONS a year in revenue and they are so greedy as to be bothered by a few who are BUYING on the use of a borrowed member's membership that they disrupt the Costco's member's shopping experience by asking for proof of membership.
